We decided to eat here today on a whim. The food was excellent. The venison was incredibly tender, the sauce was delicious, the dumplings were just right, and the red cabbage was perfect. The service was friendly and attentive, and the restaurant was bright and clean. The prices were very reasonable for the quality – not overpriced at all. All in all, a perfect restaurant experience.

We were at the restaurant for an 80th birthday celebration. Unfortunately, the table hadn't been properly cleaned, and even after we asked, it wasn't rectified. We were able to order drinks and food quickly, but after that, no one from the staff came to our table again. We had to order more drinks at the bar, and we also had to ask a waiter to take our dessert orders. I have never experienced such poor, or rather, nonexistent service. We were there five years ago for a birthday party and had a very pleasant experience. Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend the restaurant. Positive: The food is very good. We've been annoyed many times, but today was the icing on the cake. If I could give zero stars, we would. We've hosted business lunches there several times, including overnight stays. We don't understand why the tables by the window are reserved only for golfers. We would have loved to eat outside in the nicer weather. The restaurant manager replied that it was drafty among the guests in the restaurant. At first I thought he was joking, but that wasn't the case. He only had three tables booked in the restaurant. Apparently, they no longer need it. We really can't recommend this restaurant.

A very cozy restaurant with delicious, varied food. The dishes are freshly prepared, tastefully presented, and attractively presented. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is relaxed—ideal for a relaxing evening.

We were gathered with about 20 people (with reservations) for a birthday party. Upon entering the restaurant, it seemed like the weather was still good, but the inside seemed to be "completely empty." We were assigned a table in the back left corner (facing the hotel lobby entrance). The table wasn't set yet, and the food from previous guests was still scattered on the floor around the table. When we asked if we could have the table up front (there's plenty of seating), we were told it was reserved. What can I say... we were there for almost 3.5 hours, and not a single person sat down at that table. The food was okay, but the service was unfortunately nonexistent. For drinks, another look at the menu for dessert, or to request that the table be cleared of dishes, we had to go to the bar and point it out. About 5 years ago, we were thrilled; this year, unfortunately, we were very disappointed. There are certainly bad days, but for such an occasion and the price, unfortunately, only one star. What a shame... we used to love it there.

Delicious food, friendly service, and a lovely summer terrace overlooking the lake and golf course. There's something for everyone on the varied menu. Highlights included the fresh spare ribs (not frozen convenience items) with homemade barbecue sauce, the perfectly cooked trout, and the large selection of desserts. Personally, I wouldn't order the pasta dish (spaghetti carbonara) again. The salads were fresh, and the dressing was delicious.

When you come here, you can expect good food. The portions are generous. Everything was freshly prepared. The portion of the large spare rib is enormous. We had to take the leftovers home. Drinks are unfortunately too expensive for the dishes and usually relatively small. The service is okay, but fluctuates greatly between very friendly/communicative and brusque. This is a restaurant in a golf resort, and the clientele reflects this. The seating on the terrace next to the lake is very pleasant. In the evening, you can see a beautiful sunset. We'll be back.

Beautiful terrace with a view of the greenery and a small lake with a beach. For those who want to stay longer, there's a lovely hotel available. Also ideal for family celebrations or corporate events. See other reviews above. A beautiful course not just for golfers. 😉

We recently had breakfast at the Althaus Gernsheim – unfortunately, the visit was disappointing in several respects. I had already called in advance to inquire whether outside guests were welcome for breakfast. The answer was unequivocal: No problem, just drop by. However, when we arrived, we received a less than friendly welcome. Two employees looked at us rather confusedly, as if wondering what we were even doing there. When we explained that we were there for breakfast, we were immediately asked if we had a reservation. I said no – after all, I hadn't been told that when I called for information. Instead of showing understanding, I was then asked who I had spoken to on the phone – as if someone would remember such details. Instead of a friendly "No problem, please take a seat here," we stood around uncertainly, waiting for the server to reluctantly give us the "okay" to sit down. The feeling of being welcome never surfaced. Even the breakfast buffet couldn't make up for the poor first impression. For the price, the selection was disappointing and of nothing special – neither varied nor high-quality. It's not about the price itself, but rather the principle: For a restaurant with such beautiful decor, we expected considerably more – both in terms of service and food. We eat breakfast a lot – both internationally in hotels and in cafés and restaurants as external guests. In a direct comparison, the breakfast at the Althaus unfortunately comes out by far the worst. Conclusion: If you value good service, hospitality, and good value for money, you'd better skip breakfast here. For us: never again.

The ambiance was very pleasant, the staff friendly and attentive. The food, in my case the lumberjack steak, was simply fantastic.

Unfortunately, despite previous good to excellent experiences, after our visit last Sunday, I have to agree with the low-rated reviews found here. But at least: this has potential! The sunset was very impressive.

4.5 stars The ambiance of the restaurant is truly lovely – great views, pleasant clientele, and a relaxed atmosphere. We felt completely at home. A little note as to why I'm writing this review: We had the spare ribs, which tasted good, but the meat was unfortunately very fatty. My suggestion: Perhaps slightly smaller portions and higher-quality meat – happy to do so for the same price. Otherwise, a truly lovely place to enjoy – we'd be happy to come back.

Liebloser Salat, Fleisch trocken und ungewürzt. Essen auf der Terrasse. Während einem leichtem Schauer wurde kommentarlos der Service eingestellt! Getränke sollte man WÄHREND dem Essen im Restaurant selbst bestellen und abholen. Auch zum Zahlen kam keine Bedienung an den Tisch. FAZIT: Essen qualitativ schlecht, teuer und KEIN Service. Einmal und nie wieder!

Nach einer Golfrunde haben wir uns hier auf der Terrasse auf einen Snack eingefunden. Der Service gestaltet sich überwiegend sehr freundlich, professionell, schnell und zuvorkommend. Lage und Aussicht von der Terrasse aus sind sehr ansprechend, gerade in den Abendstunden bei Sonnenuntergang. Parkplätze stehen mehr als ausrechend zur Verfügung. Das Essen wird tatsächlich zutreffend mit "befriedigend" umschrieben, nicht mehr und nicht weniger. Manchmal sind die Speisen richtig lecker, aber manchmal eben auch wirklich daneben. Beispielhaft sei erwähnt der Leberkäse, der das eine Mal richtig schön knusprig mit leckeren Spiegeleiern obenauf an den Tisch kommt, das nächste mal aber dann wieder nur leicht angewärmt mit eher rotzigen Spiegeleiern. Der Kartoffelsalat ist da eine mal richtig lecker und sehr gut abgeschmeckt, das andere Mal ertrinkt er in einer eher undefinierbaren Tunke. Oder die Spare Ries, die nur dann richtig gut schmecken, wenn sie als Babyback Ribs an den Tisch kommen. Je größer sie ausfallen, desto eher geht die Tendenz in Richtung zäh, knorpelig, und eher lauwarm. Es sind diese Leistungsschwankungen der Küchen die eine bessere Bewertung verhindern. Schade, aber änderbar.

I'd like to call the service service. But the type of service offered, coupled with refusal despite eye contact and repeated requests to be served, is a rare occurrence. In short, you simply aren't served. Based on this, a further assessment of the restaurant is impossible. Leaving was just as ignored as arriving.

Ambiance and surroundings very nice. Order was taken relatively quickly. Drinks also came very quickly and a short time later the salad came as ordered. Immediately afterwards the food came, it couldn't have been freshly made ☹️ It wasn't that bad, but it didn't meet my expectations and the price was a bit too expensive. The spare ribs are highly recommended, with plenty of meat on them, not the thin ones you often get. I liked that they served them with BBQ sauce, so everything wasn't so dripping. As an American, I would probably disagree, 😄 Addendum: 2 stars deducted. My honest opinion in another review about lukewarm spare ribs was criticized by Google. I still rated it well. I met up with friends there. I've eaten there twice now and found it very good both times. The value for money is excellent. We sat in the sun and enjoyed our meal. The service is excellent. I'd love to go back. It's a shame it's so far away.

Don't be fooled by some positive reviews. The food is not edible. A 5 year old microwave dish is fresher than the ingredients there. The only positive thing about what can be called food are the stomach cramps that make you forget the very overpriced price of ready-made food, which is only served lukewarm, and the absolutely miserable quality. We will never again only want to think about the food with very poor service.

It had been many years since my previous visit, but when I entered the restaurant I noticed that nothing significant had changed in the ambience. The evening went as expected, extremely high volume in a restaurant that is not far from a train station in terms of acoustics. Announcements that take place there are now and then replaced by loud laughter or by noisy pushing of tables and chairs around after a party has left. What was new was the large hole in my cloth napkin, which was decorated with this defect clearly visible on the table. It was probably from years gone by too. The service was okay, as was the food, but nothing more. However, I had now expected more than just higher prices for dishes that were not worth mentioning. I'm curious to see what it will look like in a few years - if I ever think about coming back here again - and how many holes there will be in the napkin.

Great atmosphere in a beautiful location. The terrace has a great atmosphere, especially in summer. In the middle of the golf course with a view of a swimming lake (only for day guests or club members).

Die Location hat eine sehr gute Lage. Auch das Ambiente des Lokals sieht verlockend aus. Das war’s schon. Das Personal der Gastronomie ist sehr rüde im Umgang. schreit in gebrochenem Deutsch herum. Von einer gewissen Etikette zum Publikum ( finanziell besser gestellte Leute ) spürt man hier nichts. Das Essen hat auch nichts besonderes. Besseres Kantinenessen… Und ich bin jetzt ein Mensch der nicht so anspruchsvoll ist. Also da gibt es bessere Restaurants. Das abräumen der Teller katastrophal. Für so ein Ambiente brauche ich Top Gastronomie.. Und gutes Essen für die Preise. Aber vielleicht hat man keinen anderen Pächter gefunden. Traurig wie weit Deutschland sinkt.

Wonderful ambience on the terrace, service very friendly and attentive. However, our good mood while drinking coffee was marred by the extremely bad cheesecake with apricots or cherries, as well as the stretched coffee with milk. The quality of the cake and coffee leaves a lot to be desired. To eat again at any time, never again to drink coffee.

As always, impeccable quality of food, very attentive service and everything very clean and well maintained. Always worth a visit.

Haven't been here for a long time... pure disappointment today. Service was lacking in friendliness and the salad bowl (€7.20) consists of a few torn leaves in vinegar water. It wasn't worth 20 cents, let alone €7. Everything else was okay, but too expensive. We are no longer drawn there.

A waiter who behaves like he's at a fair and tries to act nice, but is actually a completely disrespectful and unmannered person. He shouldn't have anything to do with gastronomy or dealing with people.

The ambience outside is very nice, inside it's more for parties, celebrations.... Sitting at a table for two feels a bit like being in a hall. The service pulls it out :)

We had dishes from the seasonal menu. Chanterelles with penne. €18.90 for pasta that was only tossed in oil. Not appetizing! Unfortunately, schnitzel and service are not recommended either. Very nice atmosphere - what a shame!

We actually always like coming here because of the food and the beautiful ambience. 5 stars for that! Service 0 stars. What happened in this company today is a NO GO!!! Food, atmosphere great! The service is above all else. Guests NOT welcome! You have to beg to even get a card. We didn't even get a ticket for dessert. As a guest you can no longer order a drink as this is not desired. We were yelled at to sit down because we had already waited 30 minutes for the bill and politely asked to pay. Another table with the same waiter even cleared the table himself. They didn't receive any dessert either. Another table also wanted to pay…. No reaction! The waiter walked ignorantly past the tables. ?!? Where can you find something like that! I then briefly went to the toilet and what do I see, the waiter is talking to a colleague in a completely relaxed manner while the guests outside were already pretty pissed off. That's not possible!!!! We always bring lots of guests and good tips, but I couldn't let that go any longer! Because this waiter seems to be pretty down to many people. NOT RECOMMENDED and we expect an apology ☝🏻

The food is delicious and the price-performance ratio is good. The staff, mostly male, were now making stupid, suggestive comments on a number of occasions. It was supposed to be funny, but it wasn't. On our last visit it was drizzling, we wanted to sit outside, but unfortunately that wasn't possible because when the first droplet came from the sky, the parasols were immediately closed, which could have been a good protection against the few droplets from above. We then had to move inside, where it was loud and stuffy. When we put chairs under the canopy from the terrace, we were asked to either go back inside or go home. I certainly won't be going there again anytime soon - something like that isn't possible. If people didn't agree with our behavior, it could certainly have been communicated differently. In any case, the guest there is far from being a king.

For a restaurant that advertises excellent culinary experiences, I am very disappointed, I had fries that were mixed, cold and hot ones that were smaller than a cent pieces, that's not possible, plus ribs that weren't spicy, A dip that was not ordered would also be charged, The price-performance ratio here doesn't fit at all, We won't come back, the stars for the ambience and the service, the rest, well

After a long time, we ate again at the Althaus restaurant in Gernsheim. We often sat down in the restaurant there and had something to eat. We also celebrated our wedding there a few years ago and therefore have a nice memory of the place. You really have to say that there was never anything to complain about during all our visits. Best known for its spare ribs, the restaurant is always busy and always worth a visit. You don't have to be a member of the golf club or live in the hotel to receive friendly and nice service. The food was always excellent. I can “absolutely” recommend it and no problem at all as a location for events or with larger groups.

Decent quality, friendly service, the restaurant is very hybrid, clubhouse, hotel restaurant and place for celebrations and meetings. Nice, west-facing terrace, but otherwise the ambience doesn't really suit the hotel and the club secretariat. Very tasty, the spare ribs, the portions are more than generous.

Ok, food was ok, service was nice and quick, unfortunately the restaurant is more like a, well, how do I put it, big room to put it humanly.

There was no greeting to the guests. The service was so nice that I didn't even want to stay in there for another few minutes. 1 star for service because I can't give zero stars. The welcome is a basis of hospitality... In my opinion, she is annoyed and stressed by something that I or other guests could not understand. The food wasn't usually bad, but the hospitality was nowhere to be found today.

There were 5 of us. We were served very nicely and the food was very tasty We'll come back when we can sit on the terrace.

We were there for a business lunch with American lawyers. A colleague couldn't eat her food due to an allergy and asked for a new dish. We had to have a conversation with two employees only to be served the same dish again. I felt uncomfortable discussing the matter, especially since in America the customer is king. The treatment was unacceptable and rude. We won't come anymore.

We were here for two days and dined, beautifully presented and delicious. The service is also perfect, always nice and friendly, you love it! Keep it up

Das Ambiente dort ist schön und auch der Service ist gut. Das Essen ist okay, aber das Dressing des Beilagensalats ist unterirdisch schlecht. Eigentlich verdient das Dressing die Bezeichnung nicht. Meiner Meinung nach handelt sich um pures Essig. Verstehe wirklich nicht, warum das seit Jahren so ist und man kein vernünftiges Salatdressing hinbekommt.

Das Essen ist sehr gut und die Portionen sind mehr als ausreichend für eine Person. Die Terrasse ist schön gestaltet und man hat einen schönen Ausblick auf den angelegten Teich und den Abschlag auf den Golfplatz. Der Innenbereich ist etwas lieblos eingerichtet und das Servicepersonal könnte etwas freundlicher sein. Für ein Essen oder ein Getränk nach dem Spiel ist die Terrasse jedoch ideal geeignet!

Das Essen war durch die Bank sehr gut und schmackhaft (auch der Beilagen-Salat), kam fast bisschen zu zügig an den Tisch. Die Preise sind angemessen Das Personal anfangs sehr zahlreich vorhanden und aufmerksam und zum Ende das Abends eher spärlich (es war noch nicht mal 21 Uhr), und schwer zu kontaktieren. Die Saisonkarte die im Internet ist, gibt es nicht; Seite wird wohl nicht gepflegt... Was das Ambiente angeht: der Außenbereich ist wirklich schön mit Blick auf den Golfplatz und See aber Innen... Schmucklose Tische (aber Stoff-Servietten) und ein Ambiente wie in einer Bahnhofshalle. Ich saß mit Blick auf einen Seminar-Raum, bei dem die Stühle auf den Tischen standen; es gibt schönere Anblicke... Schade, da könnte man mehr draus machen. Evtl. sollte der Inhaber ab und zu mal die Bewertungen lesen.

Essen ist guter Standard. Einzelne Servicekräfte könnten bisweilen etwas umgänglicher, zuvorkommender und freundlicher sein. Was soll man davon halten wenn man gefragt wird, ob man noch nie in einem Restaurant war? Da kommt man sich doch recht unerwünscht und wie ein Bittsteller vor. Dass man dann noch vor anderen Gästen nachgeäfft wird ... soll sich jeder selbst eine Meinung davon machen. Auf eine Beschwerde meinerseits wurde nicht reagiert.

Wir haben im Golfclub unsere Hochzeit gefeiert. Dort haben wir uns von Anfang bis Ende rundum wohlgefühlt. Frau Jung-Sivic hat sicher sehr viel Zeit für uns genommen und alle unsere Wünsche umgesetzt. Die Location ist wunderschön, Sektempfang auf der Terasse, ein großer heller Raum zum Feiern, absolut grandioses Abendbuffet in einer Spitzenqualität, abgerundet von dem besten Service überhaupt! Das Servicepersonal war extrem aufmerksam und hat durch Unterstützung in allen Bereichen den Tag perfekt gemacht. Danke an das gesamte Team für alles :) Vanessa & Christian

Wir fanden es sehr schön dort. Essen war gut und reichlich. Personal freundlich und auch gerne zu einem Witz bereit. Wir hatten Glück das wir einen Platz bekommen haben. Reservieren würde ich auf jeden Fall empfehlen.

schönes Ambiente, unfreundlicher Geschäftsinhaber. Wer Rumpsteaks essen mag, sollte sich eine andere Location suchen. Medium bestellt und Medium Well erhalten. Anschließend hatte ich einen unfreundlichen Geschäftsführer neben mir stehen, der mir erzählt, dass bei einem maximal 2cm dicken Steak für 28€ nur der kleine Kern leicht rosa gefärbt ein Medium Steak widerspiegeln würde. Die Kollegen hatten trockene Spareribs erhalten. Dafür war die Schnitzelfraktion durchweg zufrieden. Daher auch ganze zwei Sterne

Tolle Lage und Ambiente und die Speisekarte ist auch gut. Die Bewirtung durch das gesamte Personal ist ausschließlich kindisch patzig und sehr unprofessionell. Diese permanenten dilettantischen drittklassigen Witze sind absolut störend und untragbar. Preisleistungsverhältnis ist echt in Ordnung aber das Personal ist eine absolute Zumutung von A-Z.

Die Karten haben wir uns persönlich geholt, dann saßen wir am falschen Platz. Die Auswahl auf der Karte ist übersichtlich. Ein großer Salat mit Putenstreifen für 15.90 € finde ich nicht preis'Wert', auch die Reiberdatschi mit Lachs (aus der TK Packung) konnten nicht überzeugen. Wir müssen nicht erneut hin ...

Service leider schlecht, da unfreundlich und ausserdem wurde der bestellte Salat vergessen.

Das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis war absolut ok. Das Essen war auch sehr lecker. Allerdings fühlte es sich sehr nach Massenabfertigung an....

Freundliches Personal und vielfältige Gerichte. Es gibt einige vegetarische Optionen und auch eine vegane Bowl. Wir waren am Sonntag zum Mittagessen dort und sowohl die Vorspeisen (Lachs, Tomaten- und Kürbissuppe), als auch die Hauptspeisen (Forelle, Rumpsteak, Rehragout, Schnitzel) haben überzeugt. Die Portionen waren großzügig und das Fleisch auf den Punkt gegart. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Wir waren zum ersten Mal hier und es hat uns super gut gefallen. Geschmackvoll eingerichtet, die Bedingungen freundlich, nett und haben immer einen Spaß auf den Lippen. Das Essen super lecker, so dass ich meinen Rest, den ich leider nicht geschafft habe, mit nach Hause genommen habe. Sehr gerne wieder.

Habe heute Spareribs mit Knoblausoße bestellt. Die Sparribs waren total trocken und zäh .... die Kartoffeln angebraten. (schwarz). Nachdem ich das bei der Kellnerin reklamiert habe kam noch nicht einmal eine Entschuldigung oder gar Ersatz. NIE MEHR WIEDER !!!!!

Ich werde nie wieder dort hingehen, dieser Laden ist was für das Gesundheitsamt. Ich war mit meiner Familie dort zum Essen. Die pampige und unfreundliche Bedienung hätte uns da eigentlich schon eine Warnung sein müssen. Als Vorspeise hatte ich eine Leberknödelsuppe, welche einen ungewöhnlich sauren Geschmack hatte. Die Tomatensuppe am Tisch schmeckte künstlich, als ob sie aus der Tüte kommt und die Kürbiscremesuppe war laut Sitznachbarin nicht abgeschmeckt. Wir waren noch nicht mal alle fertig, da wurde schon der halbe Tisch abgeräumt. Als Hauptgang hatte ich den Rehbraten. Dieser war zäh wie eine Schuhsohle und das Rotkraut war voller Nelken. Andere am Tisch hatten Kalbsschnitzel, welches knorpelig war und komisch roch. Ein Steak war stellenweise verbrannt. Nach ca 20 Minuten setzten starke Magenkrämpfe und Übelkeit bei mir ein, so dass wir frühzeitig die Heimreise antreten mussten. Einem anderen Gast am Tisch der das Rehsahnefleisch hatte erging es ähnlich. Der Tisch neben uns hatte fast volle Teller abräumen lassen, weil es ihnen auch nicht schmeckte. Nie wieder.

Auch in der Corona Zeit haben wir es immer wieder probiert, aber es ändert sich dort nichts mehr zum Positiven… Letztens das „Schnitzel Wiener Art“ bestellt und es kam ein rundum paniertes Etwas. Man wusste nicht, ist das jetzt ein Schnitzel oder doch ein panierter Fisch, der noch nicht annähernd gar ist, mit so komischem Eiweißzeugs am Rande? Ungenießbar, wie auch die faden Pommes. Den Beilagensalat hatten sie vergessen, gut, dafür hab’s dann einen Espresso aufs Haus, aber die letzten Male habe ich mich beim Essen dort jedes Mal nur noch geärgert und jetzt ist Schluss, ich mag mich nicht mehr ärgern! Wachen Sie endlich auf Herr Althaus, um Ihren Laden am Golfplatz in Gernsheim kümmert sich nämlich schon seit Jahren kein Schwein. Und das ist nicht für den Heimatplatz des Lufthansa Golfclubs Frankfurt eine Schande!

Zuletzt waren wir Anfang 2020 da und, wie wie gewohnt, sehr zufrieden. Coronabedingt waren wir in den beiden letzten Jahren nicht mehr dort und haben uns heute um so mehr auf ein leckeres Essen gefreut. Leider wurden wir sehr enttäuscht. Das Dressing am Salatteller war fad bzw. bestand gefühlt nur aus Essig. Gewürze, Kräuter? Fehlanzeige. Dazu ein paar Fleischstückchen und vier schmale, kleine Scheibchen Baguette. Auch das zweite Essen, eine Forelle, war leider keine Offenbarung. Die Qualität hat extrem nachgelassen. Unter Beachtung der gebotenen Qualität waren beide Gerichte überteuert. Ob wir wieder kommen, ist fraglich. In Gernsheim und Umgebung gibt es bessere Restaurants.
