A very nice restaurant with a stunning view of the Weserbergland region. The staff is friendly and helpful. The chef truly enjoys the kitchen and conjures up excellent food. Always worth a visit.

Not unattractive from the outside, with plenty of parking and a lovely terrace with a great view. Nice and friendly staff. The room is quite small, though, and noisy when facing the street with the windows open. Some of the furnishings could use some updating (e.g., the shower head). Breakfast was good but not above average. All in all, not quite right for the price.

We booked a multi-day stay once again and were not disappointed. The friendly service of the staff and the quality of the food and drinks were particularly noteworthy. We definitely recommend it.

Great hotel! The rooms were bright and welcoming. Facing the courtyard, it was very quiet. There was some traffic noise from the street, but the good windows largely blocked it out. The bike storage was very spacious and attractive, with charging facilities available. The staff was extremely friendly, and the breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The hotel is located on a hill, which might not require much fitness for e-bikers. However, the panoramic view from the terrace more than makes up for this.

The hotel room is okay. Nicely furnished and spacious. The restaurant is really great. Homemade bread with various dips: olive oil, tomato butter, tomato jam, and black salt. Very attentive service, and the outdoor seating is really nice.

The hotel is showing its age overall. The superior double rooms on the ground floor are OK. The restaurant area is attractively designed, and the view from the terrace is quite nice. The Wiener Schnitzel was delicious and good value for money. The breakfast was of a normal standard. The staff was friendly.

I can't rate the room, as I was only there for breakfast. The service was exceptionally friendly and the breakfast left nothing to be desired. The terrace with its view of Rinteln is phenomenal.

In addition, it is a perfect cycling location with bicycle charging stations, and you can also easily charge your car at a reasonable price on the hotel bill.

Todenmann near Rinteln is worth a visit. Good wines and excellent food.👍👍👍

More show than substance. The location outside of town, up on the mountain, isn't particularly suitable for cyclists. Many things listed in the description weren't there. For example, the minibar, the second screen, or the selection of toiletries. It's nice that the bathroom has been recently renovated, but a leaky shower wall floods the bathroom. I wish the restaurant owner would be their own guest for once. A glass door for the bathroom door, even if it's frosted, is simply a bad idea. The staff were more condescending than friendly and accommodating. Only filter coffee from a Melitta cup at breakfast, in a 4-star hotel? Oh well... It's the little things that make a stay enjoyable.

We usually come to the Old Customs House for breakfast. The service, the buffet, the ambience are simply great. It couldn't be better :)

Great hotel and really nice and cozy restaurant with a great view. Very good service, fantastic dinner and a generous and good breakfast. We were traveling with a child (6 months). As a matter of course, the cot was put in our room free of charge. At dinner everyone was very nice to the little one. All in all we had a great time. Many thanks to the whole team.

Small-scale hotel, ample free parking and beautiful restaurant with a large terrace. There is also 1 charging point for electric cars. (Reservations are possible) Extensive breakfast buffet. (No air conditioning in the rooms)

Location itself is great. Food and service were subpar. It's more like canteen food, the service was a little too casual and something tipped over three times including a guest shower. Not in proportion to the price. The view and ambience, however, are very nice!

I was invited there. So I don't know the prices. But if they aren't excessive, I would recommend the restaurant at any time.

Good restaurant with a small, good menu. Very good service, reasonable prices. Well selected wines. The Wiener Schnitzel is not served in the classic way. Just a small veal schnitzel with no garnish and no special fries. The accompanying salad is very good. The crème brulee is great, the scoop of ice cream served with it tastes good but doesn't improve the dish. The decor is nice. The tables are generously distributed throughout the room. You sit well on the chairs. The espresso was also very good. You can recommend the restaurant.

Vom Weserradweg einen kleinen Abstecher Berg auf und dafür mehr als eine Belohnung bekommen. Wir haben hier übernachtet und dankbar, auch gegessen. Von der Terrasse einen wundervollen Blick und diesen konnten wir bei Freude am Essen doppelt geniessen. Die Bärlauchsuppe und der Lammrücken waren wirklich wundervoll und werden in Erinnerung bleiben.

An alle Camper, Geheimtipp. Hier gibt es echt gutes Essen, bayerisch angehaucht, aber es gibt auch Fisch. Es ist etwas versteckt und sehr heimlich. Der Service ist freundlich und schnell. Ihr braucht kein IL Lago, wo man nach 40 min immer noch kein Essen bekommt oder ewig auf euer Bier warten müsst weil man die Bedtellung vergessen hat, trotz emensem Personal

Sehr leckere Gerichte, toller Service meine Empfehlung geht raus...

Es war ein Zufallsbesuch. Ein tolles Ambiente und eine tolle Umgebung zum Wandern und Natur genießen - abgerundet durch Sauberkeit und nettes Personal. Das Alte Zollhaus machte einen sehr guten Eindruck auf uns. Der wurde bestätigt durch die üppigen Empfehlungen der Küche in Form von tollem Weißbrot zu dem verschiedene Leckereien gereicht wurden. Gutes und schmackhaftes Olivenöl, schwarzes Meersalz, Bärlauch-Butter und ein Chutney, dass wirklich in die Oberliga gehört, machten uns glücklich. Auch die Suppen die danach gereicht wurden, waren Klasse. Eine Bärlauch-Schaumsuppe und eine Spinatsuppe mit Trüffelsplittern - beide sehr lecker. Bis dahin hätte das Restaurant nicht nur 5 Sterne von uns erhalten sondern auch sicher häufiger weitere Besuche. Doch dann kam das Hauptgericht. Meine Frau hatte Wildschweingulasch mit Spätzle und Salat bestellt. Der Salat war toll. Das Essen war generell ok, aber das Gulasch versalzen. Ich hatte den Grillteller geordert. Darauf befanden sich zwei Stücke Hühnerfilet, ein Stück Schweinefilet und ein Stück Rumpsteak. Dazu Bratkartoffeln und gemischtes, geschmortes Gemüse. Offensichtlich hatte das Fleisch auf die anderen Zutaten warten müssen - es war kalt. Zudem hatte das Hühnerfleisch keinerlei Geschmack, das Schweinefilet war zäh und das Rumpsteak auch nicht wirklich zart. Gemüse und Bratkartoffeln waren stark versalzen. Ich hatte keine Lust zu meckern oder mir den Tag zu verderben - warum auch. Trotzdem ließ ich meine Kritik höflich dort, worauf die Bedienung sofort den Manager holte. Der war nett und verstand schnell dass ich mich nicht beschwerte sondern Kritik äußerte um die Option zur Verbesserung zu geben. Allerdings war sein Vorschlag zur Schadensbegrenzung merkwürdig: Er bot an das Fleisch noch einmal aufzuwärmen. Das lehnte ich dankend ab und verzichtete auf das Hauptgericht. Die Rechnung war mit 72,- Euro incl. jeweils 1 Getränke für 2 Personen am oberen Bereich, was uns bei guter Leistung nicht gestört hätte. Schade - hatte es doch so perfekt angefangen.

Sehr gutes Carpaccio und Spinatsuppe mit Sommertrüffel gefolgt von Lammhüfte und Spargelrisotto mit Trüffelschaum. Der Grillteller meines Sohnes konnte nicht überzeugen.

Mit Freunden hier zum Frühstück einen Tisch gebucht. Aussicht von der Terasse ins Wesertal ist sehr schön. Das Frühstück selbst war in Ordnung, jedoch wurde das Glas Sekt (was laut Homepage dazugehörte) nicht serviert, Kaffee wurde nicht nachgereicht, keine Nachfrage, ob alles in Ordnung ist, für Kinder unter 12 wurde der volle Preis berechnet, ... Die Käseauswahl war toll, leider war die Wurstauswahl langweilig - verhältnismäßig geringe Auswahl. Es gab zwar frisches Obst, jedoch waren darunter Teile die braune, matschige Stellen hatten. Es fehlte an frischen Beilagen wie Paprika, Salat, Gurken, Tomaten. Auch Salate (Wurstsalat, Geflügelsalat, etc.) suchte man vergebens. Die Bedienung war uns gegenüber sehr unaufmerksam, wir konnten keinen Latte Macchiato bestellen. An anderen Tischen war dieses möglich und mit den Gästen dort wurde auch ein Plausch gehalten. So kann man keine neuen Gäste an sich binden.

Das Alte Zollhaus macht äusserlich einen eher unspektakulären Eindruck hat es aber in sich. Zimmer, Ambiente, Frühstück sind wirklich ordentlich und sauber - solides Handwerk. Das Essen ist aber definitiv besser als vermutet. Nicht nur echt lecker und handwerklich perfekt sondern auch für das Auge top angerichtet. Darüber hinaus hat die männliche Servicekraft an 3 Abenden hintereinander echt geglänzt. Eine gute Beratung mit perfektem Wissen über alle Gerichte und deren Zubereitung und überaus freundlich und höflich. Gerne wieder - perfekte Location für Businessübernachtung. Ach ja ... und der Blick von der Terrasse übers Land ist auch echt gut.
