We were delighted with our visit to the old blacksmith shop. The restaurant has a very special, historic charm. There's even some outdoor seating. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The menu is clear and had a good selection of typical German dishes. They even have a lunch special, where dishes like schnitzel cost around €14. Our food was absolutely delicious, and the portions were generous. We'd love to go back! ☺️

I was there today with my son (3 years old). We received a very friendly welcome. The staff was courteous, and it was really nice for my son, as the man behind the counter treated him like a guest and not just like a child. Absolutely great value for money. If we're in Lübeck again, we'll definitely stop by again.

Very good, affordable food in a cool atmosphere

Worst experience – Not recommended! Our visit to this restaurant was a disaster. The young man who took our order looked like he came straight from the kitchen, completely inappropriate for the service. He barely spoke German and used Google Translate to try to understand us - unfortunately without success. Every question we asked went unanswered because he simply didn't understand us. The service was terrible, especially when paying. But the worst part was the food: the steak was bloody and raw inside, and instead of fresh garlic on the pizza we just got garlic bread. Absolutely disappointing! The waiter also seemed unfriendly and as if he had to give us the food for free. A completely unpleasant atmosphere. I absolutely cannot recommend this restaurant!

The best Wiener Schnitzel I've eaten so far. I was honestly surprised at how juicy and crispy a schnitzel can be at the same time.

Unfortunately the quality of the meat is not good. This is meat from animals that were kept very poorly. Unfortunately you can taste it. And I don't want to know how many antibiotics and harmful substances I took in as a result. It's a real shame that quality isn't at least taken into account when it comes to the meat.

I can't remember the last time I ate as well and comfortably as I did today. I was served very well and will definitely come back as the menu has many interesting options. This time I decided on the schnitzel! I can recommend it to everyone!

The restaurant is quaint and it's great that it's still preserved as it was when it was a blacksmith shop. Waiters are friendly and helpful. We chose the Viennese-style schnitzel with fried potatoes, as well as a frying pan with fried eggs and Cat's ham. The meat was very tender and the breading was exactly as it should be. Rarely have I had such a good schnitzel. The fried potatoes and salad were equally delicious. The Alster was also exactly to my taste, because there too, you need to have a sure instinct for the right mixture. The price is absolutely reasonable. We will definitely come back on our next visit to Lübeck!

Really by far the best meal! The staff are all very nice, I can recommend this restaurant to everyone. I also met the boss several times and he was just as friendly. Really great!

The food wasn't the best, we gave a drink and then the lady asked us an additional two euros for the kitchen, which I find incorrect and unprofessional.

I was positively surprised because it didn't look that good. I liked it very, very much.

My initial skepticism was quickly refuted. The welcome and service were great. We both had the schnitzel with fried potatoes, which we can absolutely recommend. The meat was tender and the fried potatoes were crispy. The salad with the dressing was also very tasty. When the bill came we were extremely pleasantly surprised. Full plates at a reasonable price. We did absolutely nothing wrong here. We left the restaurant full and satisfied and are already looking forward to our next visit.

The four of us wanted to have something to eat together in the evening and happened to be in the Alte Schmiede. We were really impressed with the pizzas. The service was friendly and the price was right too. We'd love to come back.

A very nice restaurant, the service is great, attentive and friendly. The food...more than plentiful and delicious. We also highly recommend the “Fisherman's Spirit - Served Burning” to digest. When we're back in Lübeck, we'll come back.

Anyone who likes simple cuisine with frozen schnitzels made from molded meat and likes to be insulted by the landlord will get their money's worth here.

The food was really not good... it felt like a finished schnitzel was thrown bluntly into a deep fryer. Bah, any kebab with rotten meat would have been more enjoyable. It's a shame because the place actually looks nice and has potential. But even the cola was non-carbonated.

A rather average restaurant with a somewhat dated impression. So it was rather empty at a time when most people go out for dinner. We chose schnitzel and an Arabic pan. Both were hot but quite greasy. Overall, inexpensive.

The atmosphere in the Alte Schmiede is very pleasant, the furnishings exude the cozy charm that we expected. Service was tip-top, value for money was right.

Unfortunately it only gives 5 stars, but I would like to give more. We haven't been this satisfied in a long time. 4 people, lunch time, full hut and still, nice attentive, not a long wait and great, delicious food. Turkey slices, Wiener Schnitzel, Hawaiian pizza and my vegetable pan are simply great. A big thank you to the service and also to the kitchen. We would definitely like to come back. Clear recommendation from us, if you don't go it's your own fault.

Very lovely German restaurant. There were a couple options for vegetarians, of which were super yummy. Server was very fast and attentive, and overall the experience was very cozy and I enjoyed my time here.

My husband and I received very friendly and loving service here. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes for small and large appetites. I would call our visit there "blessed accident". We had to eat something and I love German cuisine. We pop up just before closing time, but we were served and both dishes ("pans") were wonderful. Place seems to occupy old workshop of the wheel maker (there are pictures on the wall). A bit traditional, but we loved it

I really like the Old Smithy. The price-performance ratio is simply great. There are always good, large portions at reasonable prices. And every day has a different theme on which the corresponding dishes are cheaper. The service is good, but depends a bit on who is working at the time. And I really like the atmosphere. It is cozy and rustic and, in my opinion, invites you to linger.

The food was very tasty. We felt very comfortable in every respect. The owner was very nice and was able to tell us something historical about the forge. On the book wall you have the opportunity to choose crime novels and take them with you. Wonderful, rustic atmosphere and short waiting times.

One of the few things to do in Lübeck is to eat the local fish. This restaurant offers you that with 2 different options. Great atmosphere and a super attentive waiter. I think he was from Iran and he spoke some Turkish words with us and was very sympathetic and friendly. It made us happy too. Families usually prefer it too. There is a pizza oven which I have to try next time. The prices are good and they also have a special menu of the day and you can take advantage of that.

Nice, old restaurant with 2 floors. If you want your place to be safe, you should make a reservation. We ordered fries with currywurst with a small Alster for around 15 euros. The kitchen was very busy that day so we had to wait 45 minutes. The food was really good and plentiful, but the way it was presented with the gravy boat was a hindrance. We'd love to come back. Visiting in a wheelchair should be possible with a little help.

Very good food at reasonable prices! The restaurant is cozy and the food was really tasty, exceeded our expectations. I think it's great that in addition to the classics (schnitzel, lasagna, ...) you can also try all sorts of other fried dishes (e.g. Indian or Arabic style). So everyone will definitely find something here! We tried the Mexican pan (be careful) and the schnitzel and can recommend both.

It was “schnitzel day” in the old, historic restaurant. We felt like German cuisine. The dining room with a long counter gave the impression that this was actually an old blacksmith shop. The innkeeper was friendly and accommodating. The schnitzel from the kitchen with the fried potatoes I ordered completely met my taste. The pilsner on tap rounded off our evening meal excellently.

The restaurant is simply furnished, the service is nice and friendly, the food is good and cheap, and the portions are generous. There were six of us and we all got the food together.

I wouldn't say bad or good. Some of the food was cold and some was hot. The plates were so cold, as if they had been brought from outside. We would have been happy if the service had come again for a coffee.

Ein uriges Lokal mit Geschichte. An den Wänden hängen Bilder wie die Schmiede früher ausgesehen hat. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und wir wurden gut bewirtet. Das Essen ist deutsche Hausmannkost und sehr lecker. Selbst unsere Tochter hat ihre Nudeln bekommen.
