Steaks cooked to perfection! Excellent! A bit pricey, but very good quality and definitely justified. Would gladly return. Update 12/17/2025: The food was again excellent, cooked to perfection. However, I would have appreciated a bit more customer service. There are certainly legal regulations regarding the validity of vouchers, and the 7-year validity period that would have been acceptable was generous, but to simply refuse to accept a voucher that had been valid for quite some time (since 2014), for which the €70 had already been paid and collected, and to offer no compensation whatsoever, not even a partial refund, for drinks or anything else, is very disconcerting. Therefore, I unfortunately have to revise my "would gladly return" rating, which costs it 2 stars. Update 12/21/2025: You should read carefully. I didn't write "unfriendly," but rather "a bit MORE customer service" and "very disconcerting." I also knew I would receive such a response. Unfortunately, one cannot rate the ability to accept criticism here.

Absolutely fantastic food! The owner (Alex) and all the staff are superb! Keep it up!! The snails, side dishes, and Argentinian beef fillet were unbeatable. I had a dry-aged fillet from a Franconian heifer. Amazing!! However, I found the drink prices a bit too high, the dessert not up to par with the rest of the meal, and the parking lot paving stones not in keeping with the overall atmosphere. I know, this is nitpicking! But I'll definitely come back for special occasions!

We celebrated my nephew's birthday on December 5th. Despite the restaurant being full, they managed to find us a fifth seat at the table for an extra guest. The food was first-class, just like last year, and the service was simply excellent. Polite, friendly, and helpful. It was very busy, but at no point did they feel stressed. I will gladly return.

We went to the "Rauchfang" with friends for a steak dinner this weekend. We sat at a table for four near the back of the restaurant. The nice thing is that the atmosphere is pleasant and quiet. Our drinks were brought quickly, and after they were brought, our food orders were taken. Everything was served in a pleasant, friendly manner. No fake friendliness, just honesty. A quick "How's it? Good? OK – carry on..." from the chef is enough to bring a smile to your face. Although everyone had ordered something different, all four dishes arrived at the table at the same time. A testament to the good organization in the kitchen and on the grill, which is manned and staffed by the chef himself with the fresh steaks. My 200g fillet steak was a dream – cooked medium-rare on request, it was cooked to just the right degree. The open beechwood grill gave the meat a strong roasted aroma on the outside, while the meat was tender pink and buttery soft on the inside. It's been a long time since I've had such an excellent steak. As a side dish, I had the baked potato with sour cream and bacon-flavored beans, which complemented it wonderfully. It goes without saying that such a treat can't be offered at a discount price. But for those who appreciate good food, it's worth it. We'll be back – that's for sure.

Hi everyone, I visited Rauchfang for the first time today – and I'm absolutely thrilled. Grilling over an open fire, meat kissed by the flames: that's exactly how meat should be prepared. My entrecôte, cooked medium-rare, had a fantastic smoky aroma. I ordered fried potatoes as a side dish, and you can immediately tell that someone here knows their craft: evenly golden brown, crispy, and perfectly seasoned. This is how fried potatoes should taste. A small bowl of chimichurri – made according to an original Argentinian grandmother's recipe, as the owner, Alexander, told us during a little chat – perfectly complemented the meal. AMAZING FOOD!!! My wife and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary here in 2021 and have been coming back for dinner about once a month ever since! The value for money is absolutely perfect, the service team caters to every request, making the whole meal a truly special experience!! The person behind the grill clearly loves their job and prepares the food with genuine passion! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED IF YOU LIKE MEAT!!!!

Cozy and unpretentious. A beautiful piece of meat and good service. Lovely outdoor seating in the summer. Great atmosphere. A regular stop whenever I visit Erlangen. Always the first restaurant I visit. It was delicious again this time. Best spot in the restaurant: table 13, directly across from the grill. The meat was perfect again, and the spinach with onion and garlic was delicious. Always make a reservation to avoid disappointment.

We ate there today and I highly recommend it to everyone. The steak I had was cooked to perfection, medium rare. Exactly how I wanted it. The service was very friendly. They came by several times to ask if everything was okay and if we needed anything else. The price was also completely reasonable.

The restaurant is amazing! It was the best grilled steak I've ever eaten! The service is absolutely first-class, and so is the owner, of course! Everything was just so delicious. The sirloin steak was delicious. The pictures say it all.

The rump steak was cooked to perfection and simply perfect! The beans with bacon were also delicious and rounded off the meal wonderfully. I would especially like to emphasize the friendly and attentive service – you feel truly welcome here. Highly recommended!

Instead of a rib-eye steak for €65, there's a steak made entirely of fat. I've rarely had worse meat.

The meat was cooked just right, and the side dishes were delicious (potato gratin and roasted onions). The homemade summer lemonades were particularly refreshing and delicious. We'd be happy to come back.

The snails as appetizer were good and the steaks are made table side (we were lucky with our seats) over a fire. Best steak I've had in a long time, can only reccommend.

We were thrilled the first time. The food was very tasty, the service was good and we had a good time. The second time we sat so that we could clearly see the cook at the fire. Unfortunately I have to say that I was quite shocked to see that he was pushing the food from the bowl in the kitchen onto our plates with his bare hands. I had the Argentinian top rump steak with fries and a chocolate soufflé. The steak was well done and was extremely tender. The chocolate soufflé had vanilla ice cream on top but was still nice and warm. Overall it was great but because of the price you should only go on special occasions.

I was here many years ago and the positive memory was confirmed. Very attentive service, great food, feel-good atmosphere and a reasonable price. Eating steak has never been a cheap pleasure, but it is all the more important that the trimmings are right. Thanks for the great evening.

The Rauchfang restaurant is an absolute insider tip! From the moment you enter you feel completely comfortable. The ambience is tasteful and inviting, perfect for a relaxing evening. The menu impresses with a great selection of dishes that combines creative cuisine with regional influences. I was particularly impressed by the quality of the ingredients and the loving preparation. Every bite was a delight! The service also deserves high praise: attentive, friendly and always there without being intrusive. Here you can see that real hospitality is practiced. The Rauchfang exceeded my expectations and I can only recommend it to anyone who appreciates good food and a great ambience. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

Top level Steakhouse. From the outside it seemed like a normal German restaurant but it’s really an excellent, international style steak house. Service is extremely friendly and all the servers we spoke to had fantastic English. Steaks are great value and carefully cooked and sourced. The chef clearly knows what he is doing and makes the most of a wood fired oven pit. Dessert options were awesome. The Creme brûlée with pear sorbet was delicious and delicate. If you’re in the mood for steak, this is a must-visit if you’re in Erlangen or even Nuremberg area.

Even when we came by without a reservation, we were promptly assigned a table despite the house being full. The service is really top. The food also impresses with its expected quality. Here and there the chef gets a little fancy (e.g. with the tartare) but that's complaining at a high level! Really a great place to go if you need something special. We always enjoy coming back and recommend it accordingly!

I would like to give six stars for the service, because the guest is king here. Everything was just first class. You can watch the boss grilling and the ambience is just great, very nicely decorated. The steaks and fillet tips are simply great and the boss is not above apologizing for a small mistake on his part and compensating us with free apple fritters. Really great, we'll definitely be back! Ein sehr gutes Restaurant. Standardausstattung und gutes Ambiente. Bedienung freundlich und schnell aber mann muss ca. 1 Stunde auf das Essen warten. Die Salate sind frisch und knackig. Die Steaks schmecken sehr gut. Ebenfalls die Beilagen. Preise sind etwas über dem Durchschnitt aber es lohnt sich. Auf jeden Fall sehr empfehlenswert.

Essen, Service, Ambiente heute wieder Top.

Am 12.12.23 besuchten wir das Top Steakhaus Rauchfang. Da dies mein Hochzeitstag war, fragte ich, ob im Vorfeld auch Rosen bestellt werden können. Dies klappte hervorragend. Auch das Essen und der Service waren klasse. Mein 250 Gramm Steak wollte ich Medium. Genau so war es auch. Das Knoblauchbrot als Vorspeise kann ich auch sehr empfehlen. Preis - Leistung passen total. Schließlich will ich ja kein abgepacktes Fleisch essen. Gute Ware hat seinen Preis, und der ist hier absolut ok. Wir kommen wieder. Ein Lob an Herrn Hübschmann und Frau Hahn. Ein klasse Team. Total nett, eingespielt und sehr sehr nett. Wir danken von Herzen und kommen bald wieder.

Das fleisch genau richtig wie bestellt ! Obwohl ich kein rind fan bin war das steak sehr köstlich ...

Von der Vorspeise bis zum Nachtisch war alles sehr lecker. Immer wieder gerne. Alles top

Zeitpunkt des Besuchs: Sonntag, 15.5. gegen 18:30 Uhr. Ich wünschte, ich könnte mehr Sterne hier lassen. Ich war das erste Mal dort; wir haben den Geburtstag meines Freundes gefeiert. Sowohl mein Freund als auch ich sind Steakliebhaber und sind bereit, auch mal mehr für ein gutes Steak zu bezahlen. Deshalb werde ich die Preise hier nicht als zu hoch einstufen o.ä. (Dennoch möchte ich an dieser Stelle anfügen, dass es sinnvoll wäre, wenn man schon vorab auf der Speisekarte die Preise einsehen kann. Momentan ist da nur eine Speisekarte ohne Preise im Internet, erst vor Ort gibt es die mit Preisen). Als wir dort ankamen, hat es etwas gebraucht, bis wir bestellen konnten, aber das ging. Insgesamt haben die Getränke 15 Minuten und das Essen 1 Stunde gebraucht, bis es unseren Tisch erreicht hatte. Auf Nachfrage zwischendurch, warum das Essen denn so lange dauern würde, hieß es ,wir hätten „zu einem ungünstigen Zeitpunkt bestellt“, was auch immer das heißen soll. Auch habe ich ein Knoblauchbrot zusammen mit meinem Steak bestellt, es jedoch als Vorspeise erhalten, die wiederum 20 Minuten vor dem Hauptgang kam, weswegen das Brot kalt war, als das Steak kam. Aber auch das waren wir bereit zu verzeihen, wäre das Steak sehr gut gewesen. Leider hatte jedoch bei keinem der vier Steaks an unserem Tisch der bestellte Grad gepasst: wir haben alle Medium bestellt und alle irgendetwas zwischen Medium Well und Well Done erhalten. Bei dem Preis, der Wartezeit und einem Restaurant, das sich durch Steaks auszeichnet, haben wir mehr erwartet. Dennoch konnte man das Steak essen (gute Qualität an sich!), die Kräuterbutter war sehr gut (!!), die Kartoffel war okay. Gerne hätten wir diese Kritik bereits im Restaurant geäußert, leider wurde jedoch während unseres gesamten Aufenthalts kein einziges Mal nachgefragt, ob alles passt oder ob irgendetwas fehlt (obwohl die Bedienungen wirklich sehr oft an uns vorbeigelaufen sind). Auch bei der Bezahlung wurde nicht gefragt. Normalerweise ist diese Frage gang und gäbe. Insgesamt sind wir schon enttäuscht und werden wohl zukünftig davon absehen, das Restaurant noch einmal aufzusuchen. Wir sind dennoch in der Hoffnung, dass es sich schlichtweg um einen schlechten Tag handelte, da die Mutter meines Freundes bereits schon einmal dort war und nur Gutes zu berichten hatte. Anbei ein Bild meines „Medium“- Steaks.
