A very cozy Indian restaurant! The service is wonderful and the food is excellent. I love Indian vegetarian cuisine, and this one has the best benganka bharta (grilled eggplant) for miles around. Definitely recommended!

We ordered the vegetarian thali with naan and mango lassi. As others have reported, the mango lassi is the best we've had so far. The naan bread is also delicious because it's freshly baked in the tadoori oven. The vegetarian thali was very tasty and pleasantly spicy (spicy level 2). Tip: Depending on your taste, order the spice level from 1 (mildly hot) to 4 (very hot ;-)).

Very tasty food and great service

The chicken biryani and the chicken tikka masala are highly recommended. They're delicious and, compared to other Indian restaurants in Erlangen, the best. They also offer many vegetarian and vegan dishes. The chef is very friendly and the service is equally attentive. We enjoy visiting again and again and can only recommend the "Boliwood" restaurant.

Our visit to Bollywood was an all-around fantastic experience. From the warm welcome to the last bite, everything was just perfect. The atmosphere is inviting and cozy, making you feel at home immediately. The mango lassi deserves special mention. Creamy, fruity, and just the right amount of sweetness – it was the perfect accompaniment to our meal and an absolute highlight. You can tell they use fresh mangoes. For my main course, I chose the grilled meat, and I was simply thrilled. The meat was incredibly tender and juicy, perfectly marinated, and grilled to perfection. The different types of meat harmonized wonderfully, and the accompanying dips and side dishes were also delicious and varied. Every bite was a taste experience! The service was attentive, friendly, and very accommodating. They really went out of their way to help us and were happy to advise us on our dish choices.

Truly, it's worth the long journey to get here!!! A very warm welcome, impeccable service all around, friendly, unobtrusive, and homely. The food is prepared with love and is individually adjusted, for example, in terms of spiciness. The eggplants come directly from Sicily, are grilled in a clay oven, the skin is removed, and then processed. That's how it should be and that's how it's done here. The aroma is very delicate. Almost every dish can be easily ordered vegan. The comfortable atmosphere makes it easy to feel almost at home. All the best for the future of this highly recommended restaurant.

Absolutely loved the place for proper Desi food with the family recently. Lovely owner couple and easy to strike a conversation. Spice level options are given from mild to super hot. Started off with Garam Samosa as snack. And Chicken Soup, Spicy Dal Tadka, Kadai Paneer -Roti, Chicken Briyani and finishing off with Mango Lassi- All Punjabi style. Prompt service. Must visit for Indian food lovers.

Very nice family business and the boss has an amazing memory. Prices are ok, garlic naan was a bit small and I missed some spices of Indian cuisine. The spiciness was good.

There is really great food there and the operators are super nice. One of the few truly family-run restaurants with authentic cuisine, just like mom and grandma's! Everything there is made from the heart and with love and you can taste it! We always enjoy coming back

60 minutes waiting time after ordering for 2 guests. 5 p.m. - 6 p.m. we were the only guests, service cheeky food poor prices incredibly high absolute cheekiness! Never go in there again people!!! If there were 0 stars I would give 0!!!!

I found out about the restaurant thanks to a work party years ago and it is now one of my favorite restaurants in Erlangen. The service is friendly and attentive, my friend and I are always happy to be able to exchange a few words with him. Food is excellent! I'm a vegetarian and have never been disappointed! I always enjoy coming to Boliwood because they offer a lot of vegan food, including raita and mangolassi.

We have been here several times and have been thrilled every time. Not only is the owner very friendly and attentive, the food also tastes excellent every time. I always have a dish recommended to me and I'm thrilled every time. After a few disappointments at Indian restaurants in Erlangen, some of which are hyped but whose food is mediocre, the food here always tastes exceptionally good. My favorites are vegetarian dishes and some kind of Indian bread, for example naan or bhatura. I can recommend the restaurant. Fortunately, you can always find parking spaces because the large parking lot is directly opposite.

Open especially at Christmas. Very kind and attentive. Food is incredibly delicious. I am a chili enthusiast and was not disappointed. My vegan version was also particularly tasty. My pregnant wife and I will now always eat there when we are in Erlangen.

If you like India and want very good, authentic food, this is the right place for you! Everything fits, the portions are generous. The owners are very nice and always up for a joke. We always like to come back and are always faced with the challenge of “what should we eat this time?” The selection is simply huge.

We have already tried a few Indian restaurants in Erlangen but Boliwood is by far our favorite. The food is really tasty, delivered quickly and the service is good. There are also plenty of options for starters and main courses for vegans (and vegetarians). The portions are generous and the prices are also reasonable. The boss at Boliwood is super nice. The Boliwood is our “hometown” and we always enjoy going there!

We've been coming here with our friends from EBS for many years and we've never been disappointed - absolutely authentic Indian food, including from the charcoal grill. There is absolutely something for everyone on the menu - a large selection of vegetarian dishes, but also meat dishes. No matter what you order, it is always a pleasure and we are already looking forward to the next visit 👍😀

A very nice Indian restaurant where you can eat very tasty and large dishes. I found the spiciness scale very nice and found the “Indian hot” level to be very tasty. But this should only be ordered if you like spicy food. The staff is very friendly, helpful and provides very competent advice based on your preferred taste.

I really enjoy eating here, the food is always good. The service is always friendly and accommodating, so you can only feel comfortable. I like to eat a lamb korma with butter naan there. You can choose between 4 different levels of spiciness, which is great if, like me, you like to eat something spicier than 'standard spicy'. The highlights for me are the chai tea and the mango lassi (which you can also get to take away). I can only warmly recommend everyone to eat there.

I'm still dreaming about the food at Bolliwood restaurant in Germany! The samosa, butter chicken, and chicken tikka were all outstanding, but the Naan was the real star of the show. If you're a Naan lover like me, you owe it to yourself to try Bollywood's version - it's life-changing! 5 stars, hands down.

I was here for the first time yesterday and the food was very tasty. The portions were large and freshly prepared. There is a large selection of dishes and many dishes can also be prepared vegan. Since the small outdoor area is adjacent to a street, you can hear some traffic. The outside area is still surrounded by a hedge, which means that the noise is well insulated. The service was very attentive and courteous. I will definitely come here more often.

Had Indian food here today. The food was very tasty and the service was very friendly. You can sit outside or inside if it's too warm outside. We felt very comfortable, the owner is very nice and it's nice to talk to him. We'll definitely be back soon. I can highly recommend the restaurant.

Worst food I ever had in Erlangen..... I can cook better at home.... I ordered chicken curry and said medium spicy... It was so spicy so spicy that I had some health issues because of it. There was no taste at all it seemed like they only added chilly powder and lots of oil.. Nothing else.......

I've been a regular customer there for years. Always the best quality for many years. - Super Service - Great food - Very stylish and authentic ambience. The boss's wife cooks here herself and is a true master. You can taste the passion. The boss and his son ensure perfect service and always have an open ear for every guest. It couldn't be better! If you want to feel like an Indian Maharaja for a few hours, this is the place for you.

Food was okay, could have been a little more and the starter was sometimes very salty but as I said you can get over all that. What you unfortunately can't get over so easily is the story behind it: A regular guest, who apparently regularly spends time with his companion in a corner of the indoor area, behaved extremely rudely and aggressively towards our baby, who was being changed and breastfed indoors for a short time while we were sitting outside. He repeatedly complained about his presence and harassed us with derogatory comments. Among other things, he said that this wasn't a kindergarten, that he wanted some peace and quiet and that we should leave. He emphasized that when he comes to eat once a week, he wants to be left alone. His behavior was that of a downright child hater, which made our visit very unpleasant. To our regret, the innkeeper did not intervene (he is definitely fond of children and family-friendly) to put the man in his place or to defuse the situation. In retrospect we found this a bit unfortunate. We noticed that this regular guest regularly sits in a corner with his companion indoors and, without exchanging a word, takes a kind of “maternity break”. He harasses families with children with his threatening manner, which creates an unpleasant atmosphere. We would like to know if other guests have had similar experiences with this regular guest. We hope that such incidents can be avoided in the future so that all guests - including families with babies - can feel comfortable with you.

Best Indian restaurant in the area. Been our preferred restaurant for many years. Food is consistently very good, spiciness on request and always appropriate... you rarely have this continuity. Family business with heart and you can taste it. Ambience outside and inside very nice, not overloaded, but still authentic. Absolute recommendation for this restaurant.

Very good food. In our opinion the best chicken curry in town. Unfortunately the prices are just a bit high, especially for a Bhatura for example (almost €6 for some dough that is fried in oil). If you order two, as they are also quite small, you're almost at €12 just for "bread". But it is worthwhile in any case. Would love to come back. If the prices were a little cheaper I would like to do it more often. :D

Quality food. Fresh vegetables instead of frozen foods. Large portions and individual requests are catered for. Friendly service without a long waiting time. There are almost always parking spaces at the cemetery. Definitely coming back.
