Ratsstüble Besigheim in Besigheim

Everything was so delicious and pleasant.

On October 2nd, 2025, my partner and I went to the Ratskeller in Besigheim. I ordered the Swabian Pfännle (a type of pan-fried dish) for €26.80. There was nothing to complain about regarding the service or the ambiance. Unfortunately, I couldn't say the same for the food. I was disappointed that the mixed vegetables were entirely frozen, as was the accompanying croquette (although I can understand that). The mushrooms weren't fresh either, but came from a can. The Spätzle (a type of German egg noodle) were a tad too soft for my taste. I was also disappointed with the quality of the meat, which was quite sinewy. Perhaps I was just unlucky. In any case, to my taste, very little of this dish seemed to have been actually cooked from scratch, especially considering the price. The server we spoke to at the end of our meal seemed aware of the "mushroom problem." The Ratskeller was very busy, which is definitely a good sign. Unfortunately, I won't be going there again, as I had expected to see more fresh produce.

Fantastically delicious food, I can only recommend this restaurant. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. We'd love to eat there again.

We highly recommend the Ratsstüble. Excellent food in a great atmosphere and friendly service. I would especially like to mention the breaded schnitzel; I haven't had anything this good in a long time. Absolutely fantastic meat in an excellent breading, truly delicious! The Besigheimer Pfännle (potato pan) was also fantastic, with very good homemade spaetzle. We will definitely be back.

During our visit to Besigheim, we stumbled upon this restaurant by chance. The portions were quite generous and very tasty. With the wide selection of dishes, everyone will find something they like. One star deducted because the prices were a bit too high in our opinion.

We've been there twice now to eat, the staff are very friendly, they sometimes have a joke up their sleeve, the boss is also very nice, he comes to the guests and asks if everything is okay, the food is delicious, you get a real holiday feeling even though you're from the next town, we found it very idyllic, you feel good and don't want to leave, the prices are good too, you have to pay for quality, we will definitely come again.

The food was quite good, but the canned mushrooms were a no-go, and the peppers and beans from the jar were also a no-go. We expected something different!

Unfortunately, the food was nothing! The mushrooms were canned, as were the peppers with my schnitzel! For that price, I expect fresh ingredients. Unfortunately, this was my first and last time there!

You can, though; the food is good. However, with a 4.6, it's overrated in my opinion. The ambiance of the town is enchanting. Annoyingly, the red wine was spilled while pouring, and the "wet" glass then dripped onto my shirt. For us, it was a one-time visit; we weren't impressed.

Food is good. It's just a shame that the restaurant is located in a city that is officially unfriendly to foreigners, so I won't be visiting it again for a long time. I bought a parking ticket and returned to the car before the time limit was up, but the police officer gave me a €55 ticket, saying I was lucky the car wasn't towed. This means my visits to the city and its restaurants are suspended for two years. Other places are happy instead. A city administration does its city a disservice when it deters tourists with outrageous measures. Catering is an area on the brink anyway. But I'd rather take my family, including my grandchildren, to another place where there is more friendliness.

If you're looking for good, traditional German cuisine, this is the place for you. Plenty of meat options, but no poultry or fish. The dessert menu could be improved. Excellent schnapps.

Very good food in a 500-year-old half-timbered house. Home-style cooking, generous portions. Unfortunately, the restroom on the upper floor (spiral staircase) is not accessible.

The soup of the day (wild garlic asparagus cream soup) was very tasty and fine. A bit salty for my taste, but this could be tempered with the cream served separately. But the trio of homemade Maultaschen was the highlight. I don't normally like Maultaschen, but these were simply first class in terms of craftsmanship. Clear recommendation! We'll be back 😊

We wanted to eat something for two, and upon request, extra space was made outside to make that possible for us! Despite the large number of guests, the service and the wait for food were super fast. We were happy to accommodate any special requests for our food order. The delicious food and the very nice service made it possible for us to have a lovely evening!

We were there on Saturday. I have to say I hadn't experienced something like that for a long time. The menu takes you back 40 years. So many dishes that were thought lost. I was speechless with amazement. After ordering from the very cheerful waiter (the place was full) I was once again only surprised in the most positive way. The dishes were very tasty, well seasoned, the salad plate was generous and the quality of the craftsmanship was very high. This place is definitely one of my favorites. I promise I will come back. Price performance are great

Very nice restaurant in Besigheim. The food was excellent, we had a main course of game pans and Swabian pans, with spaetzle and vegetables. For dessert we had apple fritters and pancakes with chocolate sauce (I apologize for the picture, there was only half left on it, it just looked too good 😅) The service was quick, responsive and friendly. All I can say about the ambience is that it is a very nice half-timbered house, but the ceiling height is a bit problematic for people over 1.70 in the toilet. 🤕😂

We were there with the family for Christmas dinner. Were served extremely courteously. It was also no problem that the four-year-old got his food first. Everyone really enjoyed it. It's impressive that the waitress (boss?) remembered the entire order in her head. We go there every now and then and have never regretted it, so we'd happily go back. Just a small note: perhaps you could get rid of the "Gypsy Schnitzel" on the menu?

We were seriously disappointed just before Christmas! In November I had already made a reservation for the whole family at the Ratsstüble in Besigheim. When I called again shortly before the appointment to adjust my reservation (a few people got sick), I was told completely coldly that there was no reservation listed and that they no longer had any space. The lady on the phone was extremely rude and she simply didn't care that we no longer got a table for Christmas. Very disappointing!

We were really in the mood for Swabian cuisine again, as I know it from my training as a hotel manager, so we decided on the Ratsstüble for our 2 year old and we totally got our money's worth 🥰🤤 We had the Schwabenpfännle and the Jägerpfännle and we can thoroughly recommend both! The atmosphere is simply great and the service is super friendly and always up for a bit of fun. 👍 Great gastro family and we will definitely come back, whatever you are ☺️

We were extremely disappointed. The mushrooms were canned and I have never eaten such a watery, thin ready-made sauce that tastes like canned mushroom water. The meat was of poor quality (loins), tough and far too little for the price. I expected better at these high prices. The spaetzle also didn't taste like anything and was straight out of the bag. The cucumbers in the salad were soft, gray and tasted like they had been lectured. Good home cooking is different. It's a shame about all that money. In addition, you are under a lot of pressure because the time for the meal is dictated by subsequent reservations. All in all, we cannot recommend the restaurant. We won't be coming back.

Donnerstag: Thursday recommended menu The pork shoulder and sauerkraut menu was very delicious. The Riesling wine produced in Besigheim Altstadt that you recommended is also really great. The salad served with the maultashe was also delicious. This place had a traditional atmosphere and felt quite comfortable. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was great. This little town was pretty enough for a walk.

Caution! If you are looking forward to a good, traditional German meal, you should definitely avoid this shop. I had the Jägerschnitzel, but the sauce tasted a lot like a ready-made mixture and was also watery. In addition, there were no fresh mushrooms - instead, canned mushrooms were served on the plate. It even seemed as if some of the preserving liquid had gotten into the sauce when the mushrooms were drained. In addition, the portion sizes and quality were disproportionate to the price. This also applies to the drinks… For us it was the first and definitely last visit!

A well-known, renowned restaurant in the old town of Besigheim. Also suitable for larger groups! We were there with around 25 people who had registered after a wonderful hike with the Albverein and were served excellently.👍 I can only confirm that!

A very dignified restaurant in the old town of Besigheim. Our girls meet there almost every four weeks. A daily special is always offered. Food is very tasty 😋

This is a classic Ratstüble with the flair of the “bourgeois, good old days and the corresponding local color.” The homemade Maultaschen were very tasty and hearty. Very nice wine selection with real Quartere! The service was very attentive and personal - you immediately felt like a regular guest. We really had a very nice and cozy evening in the Stüble and it was very well attended!

Wait forever My family and I were waiting in front of the entrance door for someone to give us a table as German Sasis “sorry for my choice of words” and when we asked the waitress about it she blatantly ignored us!!! Disgusting

We celebrated our son's communion in the Ratsstüble. Everything went smoothly in advance with the reservation for 35 people. All wishes were fulfilled. From the decoration, menu and finally the food and above all the really good and excellent service! Many thanks to the entire Klingler family, you are simply great!

Tourist trap! Rarely have I had such a miserable meal!! The 'cream schnitzel' consisted of an approx. 0.5 cm thick and approx. 12 cm long pork schnitzel with a thin ready-made sauce, an extra dollop of cream, 1 croquette, ready-made spaetzle and canned mushrooms - underground! You eat better in every canteen ! The mockery: on the first page of the menu it says that everything is freshly made... fresh from the can and the plastic bag!!! The service was nice and quick.
