We were thoroughly satisfied with the food, the ambiance, and the friendly service and would have happily returned as we enjoyed it. Note: Unfortunately, we discovered that foie gras (goose liver) is being offered as part of the French Weeks, which definitely constitutes animal cruelty. We don't approve of this and have communicated this to everyone. Marktwirtschaft has responded and taken my concerns seriously. They are looking for an alternative. I think this is great, and I thank you for the good communication and for making the extra effort.

We were here for a presentation trip. Prices are exorbitantly high. The cheesecake isn't recommended; it's more of a soft cake. The taste wasn't great. The waiter knocked the glasses off the tray while serving. Not once, but twice. And some of us were hit. Truly poor service. The ambiance is good.

Great food, perfect service, and ambiance. It's like being on vacation, with live music. We'll be back again and again. Thanks to the whole team, it's simply fantastic.

A lovely Saturday lunch. We opted for a special from the French menu and left very satisfied. The ambiance in the restaurant is very pleasant. A good wine list.

Simply always a culinary journey

A birthday breakfast in this beautiful setting, right in the heart of Besigheim's old town, was like a mini vacation. The service was super attentive and friendly. Breakfast was served on a tiered tray with yogurt and fresh strawberries, various cheeses and sausages, eggs, jam, tomato, mozzarella, and much more. The coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice, along with the delicious croissants and rolls, rounded everything off. We felt very comfortable, and there was a surprise for the birthday girl as we left. Thank you again, we'd love to come back 👍🏼

I wanted to order a cake, but there was only one to choose from in the freezer. The drinks arrived incorrectly. The server brought spilled coffee and made no attempt to replace it.

We reserved a table for seven people by phone and can highly recommend this restaurant. The food and service were both excellent. Thanks to the team!

We had a delicious dinner and tried the various fish dishes. The place is wonderful on such a warm evening, with subtle music playing. Despite being fully booked, the service was always available to our guests. The price/performance ratio is very good. The only thing the four of us found disappointing was that they cut back a lot on the side dishes for the main courses, risotto and vegetables. We would be happy to come back. Thank you very much.

The food was really good. Unfortunately, despite having a reservation, we had to wait almost two hours for the main course. This was disappointing for our guests. We've been familiar with the market economy for many years, but unfortunately, the service has declined. And this despite the high-priced offerings; this needs to be improved.

The Marktwirtschaft restaurant is one of the finest restaurants in the Ludwigsburg district...but what we experienced last night really upset us. We had reserved a table at the restaurant by email. When we arrived, we were told that this wasn't possible and that guests should only sit on the outdoor terrace. However, we would be allowed inside as soon as it started to rain. When it started to rain, these promises no longer held true, and we were seated almost directly next to a couple under an umbrella. Furthermore, after about 20 minutes, guests were seated inside the restaurant...predictably, the outdoor area of a good restaurant fills up quickly. This all really upset us. Not a good way to treat guests! Despite the good food, it wasn't an enjoyable evening!!!

Unfriendly service Food was a disaster, medium roast was simply raw... But the staff didn't care that it was bad.

Here, it's clearly noticeable that the chef has changed. As a server, it should be a given not to touch glasses by the top rim – unfortunately, this happened several times. Friendliness and courtesy seem to be foreign concepts these days. The meat was nowhere near medium rare, as ordered, and the quality was also not convincing. The only bright spot: the appetizer was good. What was particularly disappointing: no response to the expressed dissatisfaction – neither an apology nor an offer to resolve the situation. It's a shame, because the restaurant actually has potential.

We happened upon the Marktwirtschaft restaurant. Incredibly friendly staff. The food was fantastic. 5 stars. A very nice ambiance. Tasteful, comfortable chairs. Perfect service. Attentive, short wait times. We would love to have this restaurant in Frankfurt.

An ideal place to linger and enjoy culinary delights.

Wir waren wieder einmal enttäuscht über die Qualität des Essens. Die Vorspeise (Gazpacho) war eine verdünnte Tomatensuppe und hat mit einer Gazpacho nicht das geringste gemeinsam. Die Hauptspeise (diverse Meeresfrüchte) war bestenfalls Durchschnitt. Die Beilagen haben mit den Meeresfrüchten überhaupt nicht harmoniert und geschmacklich ziemlich fad. Einzig der Service war diesmal ansprechend.

Poor service. Staff don't see guests. They focus more on acquaintances. Unfortunately, I can't say how the food was, as I didn't have a chance to order.

When the friendly waitress brought the drinks, we asked if we could pay straight away, as our guests had to go to the airport. She wanted to pass it on to someone. Nobody came. So I went in to pay. I was assured that someone would come. The waiter went to three other tables to make friendly small talk. When we asked again, as time was running out, he came to our table from behind, looking bored, after stopping at another table and said from behind: "30€". Without any please, thank you, have a nice evening or anything like that. When we stood up after paying, the owner came out of nowhere and said: "Everything was paid for here, wasn't it?" Unfortunately, the service on our second visit today was just as inattentive as the first time. A real shame.

Very, very tasty food and above all pure pampering!

The place is lovingly decorated and in a great location. The menu changes monthly, and in June 2025, it featured an Italian (Tuscan) theme. We appreciated that the menu offered wine pairings with each dish, included in the price. However, with a pregnant person in our party, the wine pairings weren't an option for everyone. The food felt a bit pricey for a village of this size. We tried the currywurst, which was a basic sausage and fries for €15. While the wurst was well-seasoned, it wasn't particularly special. We also had the medium-rare tuna bits with salad, which, at around €20, lacked flavor and salt. We felt that nearby restaurants, like Hirsch, offered better value. For our vegan guest, options were unfortunately very limited. They could only choose from basic pasta with vegetables, french fries, or a green salad. Service was rather average. It took a while for a server to initially approach our table, and when we were finished, plates were cleared away very quickly. Perhaps the all-black uniforms were uncomfortable in the hot weather. Overall, we found this to be an okay place, but nothing special or highly recommendable for the price. We felt we could find better options elsewhere.

Last Thursday, I had a wonderful tiered breakfast at the Marktwirtschaft. A young waitress gave me excellent advice on the selection. The food was fresh and delicious. The ambiance was also beautiful, very idyllic and inviting. I would come back anytime. I highly recommend it.

"Homemade" Maultaschen taste like store-bought, but arrived lukewarm. Potato salad also tastes like it came from a supermarket. Unfortunately, they don't sell Coke Zero there. Prices are okay.

A Mediterranean oasis on the market square invites you to an "Italian evening." Who better to implement this motto than a sous-chef with Italian roots? We enjoy a harmonious 6-course menu. It impresses with its quality and flavor. Vitello tonnato from the beef semerrolle is "very fine." It doesn't always have to be veal. Each course is a taste experience and expertly executed. The wine pairings are also well-chosen and presented with detailed information about the winery, grape variety, etc. A relaxed, enjoyable summer evening "Dolce Vita" in Besigheim. A heartfelt thank you to the kitchen brigade and the entire service team. Time management throughout the evening was perfect.

We ordered a shandy and a bottle of water today. After a snotty waitress asked us if we wanted anything to eat, we didn't get the two drinks we ordered either. Absolutely terrible! We went there twice, the first and last time!

I saw that this restaurant was advertising a 'Tuscan Month' for June. So we went along. Unfortunately on Sunday there was no Tuscan menu. OK, I like seafood and there was a dish which featured Dorade. Served with a seafood paella/risotto!? I was little puzzled, as these are two quite different methods of cooking rice with with other ingredients (to the chef, one method involves adding stock to the rice and then leaving it untouched to cook, developing a slight 'crust' on the bottom. The other method involves gradually adding stock to rice and continuously stirring or turning, as it is absorbed. got that chef?). Also not being a big fan of cheese, I inquired if there was any cheese in this dish. Yes, was the reply. Strange, I have never come across a paella with cheese in it. And in Italy, I have very rarely encountered a seafood risotto with cheese in it either. If this is 'fusion' Mediterranean cuisine for Germans, for myself, it has failed. Very disappointing.

Definitely one of the best restaurants in the region. The starter, main course, and dessert were almost perfect. The wine was also impressive. The attentive service is particularly noteworthy. The location in the old town is also very beautiful.

Mittags mit Freunden getroffen, Schön zum sitzen auf der Terrasse, Freundlicher, kompetenter Service. Mittagstisch Ossobucco Ragout mit Spargellasagne. Hört sich sich interessanter an wie es serviert wurde. Dennoch ging es geschmacklich noch durch. Nett angerichtet und zügig serviert.

Wir reisen viel- sowohl in Deutschland als auch in Europa- und so etwas ist uns noch nie passiert: In diesem Restaurant wurden uns 35,50 Euro zu viel berechnet, für zwei Hauptgerichte, die wir nie bestellt und erhalten haben. Als wir den Fehler später bemerkten, haben wir sofort eine Nachricht an den Gastronom geschrien. Er hat uns lediglich angeboten, das Geld persönlich abzuholen oder die Gerichte irgendwann zuessen- anstatt es einfach zurückzuerstatten. Noch dreister war die Reaktion des Gastronomen; Er meinte, wir sollten wegen eines kleinen Betrags nicht so ein Drama machen. 35,50 Euro sind kein Kleingeld, und ein seriöses Restaurant würde sich für so einen Fehler entschuldigen und ihn umgehend zurückerstatten. Zusätzlich wirbt das Restaurant mit einem Mittagstisch, aber als wir etwas bestellen wollten, hieß es plötzlich; "Haben wir nicht mehr." Unzuverlässiger Service, intransparente Abrechnung und eine fragwürdige Einstellung gegenüber Kunden. WIR KÖNNEN NUR JEDEM RATEN, HIER DIE RECHNUNG GENAU ZUPRÜFEN oder gleich WO ANDERS ESSEN ZU GEHEN!!! WIR HABEN UNSER GELD IMMER NOCH NICHT ERHALTEN???

Easter Sunday has been beautiful spring weather, so we could sit outside. Service was friendly - the food was delicious - what a perfect day!

We had a fantastic meal and even went there twice during our 3-day stay in Besigheim because we were so impressed the first time. On Good Friday there was the 8 course fish menu, which was great (a bit too long for us as we don't normally sit in a restaurant for 3.5 hours, but that's our problem ;)) and on Easter Sunday we had a la carte food, which was also great. Service was very attentive and friendly. Price-performance was absolutely right for us. If you are a wine lover, you have come to the right place here. We will certainly recommend the restaurant, even if it is not around the corner from Switzerland.

The food tasted good and was beautifully presented. To our greatest regret, the positive experiences of our friends that day were not confirmed. The service seemed very arrogant, inattentive and uninformed. It's a shame given the expectations we had in advance based on the restaurant's rating, presentation and price.

Went there for lunch today. The lunch menu with halibut on chickpea curry was a delight. Friendly service and a lovely ambience in the old building made the visit a lovely experience

We were there for lunch on Tuesday and had a platter and a small roast. Both were very tasty! Nice service and nice ambience. I can only recommend it! We will come again.

Wir waren hier zu einem Menü mit Vorspeise, Hauptgang und Nachtisch. Alle Bestellungen wurden zügig aufgenommen und vor allem zügig serviert, ohne dass es irgendwie hektisch war. 2 Minuten nach der Bestellung kam schon der Gruß aus der Küche, die Vorspeise kurz nach dem Wegräumen des Grußes. Portionen sind nicht groß, aber fein. In Verbindung mit den Preisen ist das schon wirkliches Fine Dining, aber der Preis-Genuss-Wert passt. Als Nachspeise haben wir zu dritt die Auswahl für 2 Personen bestellt, es kamen 7 Einzelteller, die uns sehr satt und zufrieden zurückgelassen haben. Dazu das tolle Ambiente direkt am Besigheimer Rathaus und auch innen sehr stimmig.

Since we had a business meeting in Besigheim, we happened to stumble into the market economy during our lunch break on a Monday. We were immediately greeted warmly and given a table even without a reservation. When we received the normal menu, we were a bit surprised at the prices, as they were already quite high and actually too hefty for a lunch break. At that point we had absolutely no idea what quality to expect. However, there was a small lunch menu with dishes between 14 and 20 euros. We then decided on a corn-fed chicken breast with truffle pasta. The food didn't take long to arrive. First there was a greeting from the kitchen. Conclusion: The food was a poem! The meat was super tender, the pasta was on point. The onion soup as a greeting from the kitchen was super delicious. Everything tasted really perfect. The only drawback: there could have been a little more pasta or the portion could have been a little larger. But basically you also eat a starter and dessert in a restaurant like this, then the portion of the main course would probably be sufficient. If you want to treat yourself to an evening with really great food, a nice atmosphere and very nice service, you've come to the right place. Definitely a recommendation!

Food OK but unfortunately way too expensive. 18€ for a wedding soup (starter) is just way too expensive. Otherwise the prices are very high, the quality is absolutely fine, but I would expect more for the price.

Unfriendly, somewhat arrogant staff. As a seated person, you are often allowed to sniff the upper body of the waitresses with your nose because no one knows how to serve correctly and the guests are spoken to in a hurry. We (4 people) were not greeted by the waitress standing at the checkout, but one of the service ladies fell into my chair from behind. - We didn't like the food. I had a stew with salmon, hard vegetables that were supposed to be something exotic, and some unidentifiable sauce. The salmon had no taste. And all of this is a colorful mishmash (not stated on the map). The prices for these services are completely excessive. For the same amount we get more sophisticated, professional service and very friendly staff in the Esslingen district. Bye bye Besigheim. We'll be back, but first we'll look for another address for a good meal

The food is good, the atmosphere is nice if you don't always have to be so cold in winter. The staff could be friendlier/more professional, seems to me to be overwhelmed at times.

There is always a good selection of different dishes that are modern and attractively prepared and are in no way inferior in taste to their appearance. Plus attentive service, that's how it should work in any restaurant.

I went to dinner with members of a local subsidiary on a business trip. I think it's a nice atmosphere considering the small town of Besigheim. The menu is naturally written in German, with no English annotations. I thought it would be unbearable to have the menu translated into English one by one, but this restaurant's menu includes ``3 surprise menu'', ``4 surprise menu'', and ``5 surprise menu''. There was a ``omakase menu,'' so to speak, so I ordered a ``three surprise menu''...a combination of Appetizer, Main Dish, and Dessert. In fact, the amount wasn't too much and it was just right. Since I didn't know what kind of food would be served, I can't comment on the taste, but the main meat dishes were delicious and the desserts were satisfying.

There were four of us there. As a starter there was a board with mixed starters, our friends had the tartare. The tartare was definitely the worst of my life. Almost as if pureed with a kind of ice ball made from mustard sauce, which completely takes away the taste of the tartare. That was nothing. In my opinion, the currywurst is worse than at any chip shop, someone here is desperately trying to spice up fast food. Not good either, but better than the tartare. Overall, it's more bad than "that's okay". What was bad was the roast roast, which was very firm. The wine sauce was so wine heavy that I didn't care. It tasted so bad that I didn't eat it. The waitress asked me about it and she responded very well. That's what it gets the second star for, but I would only give one star for the food. For these prices I expect good food, this wasn't it.

Wir haben Freunde in Besigheim besucht und die hatten hier reserviert. Wir waren vom Essen und der Weinauswahl begeistert. Die Küche, wie auch der Service sind hervorragend. Jederzeit wieder…

We had lunch there today (Saturday). First of all we had to wait a long time until a waitress came to the table. She wanted to include drinks even though we didn't have a menu in advance. Then we got a map when we asked. The food itself tasted good. Our drinks were all empty, no one came over or took care of any more drinks. We then wanted to redeem this voucher when paying. He wasn't accepted because he was too old. Since there is no date written on the voucher, we no longer knew when we got it or how old it was. We asked for the owner. He was extremely unfriendly, arrogant and arrogant and when we asked how old the voucher was, he said that we should know when we received the voucher. With a wish of all the best to you, he turned around and left us standing there without making any effort. It really was a kind of encounter that doesn't need a second time. The unfriendly and inattentive service staff and an even more unfriendly owner are really unacceptable. We certainly won't eat there again and unfortunately the treatment of guests leaves a lot to be desired. Luckily, there are great alternatives with delicious food and excellent service within a short distance in Besigheim.

Mega delicious food, it simply tasted fantastic. Everything was perfect, the service was also super friendly and was always there. So no matter what you say there is nothing negative, it was all positive. No matter in which direction. As far as the price is concerned, I can't speak to that because it was a lunchtime table and the prices are different than if you go in the evening anyway, but even for lunch it was fine. Keep it up 👍

The best address in Besigheim, excellent from starter to dessert

I celebrated my birthday in the market economy in July and it was an experience from the moment I saw the lovingly set table on the market square. From the starter to the dessert it was outstanding and with sophisticated elements. The guests were also impressed by the ambience, service and of course the food.

Only the price is 5 stars. The food is good, but just not appropriate for this price.

I've eaten here several times and it just doesn't blow me away. The food is good, no question, but not very good. The waitresses also often seem overwhelmed, not to mention their language skills.

Yesterday evening we spontaneously decided to visit the market economy in the beautiful wine town of Besigheim again. After we had already noticed with the fish menu on Good Friday that the collaboration between Frank Land and Sebastian Maier had done the whole thing a lot of good, this was confirmed again yesterday evening. Frank Land as the host at the tables and Sebastian Maier as the creative spirit in the kitchen - everything was again absolutely top. I would particularly like to highlight my main course (lamb) - certainly one of the best lamb dishes I have ever eaten. Dessert was also outstanding - 3 absolutely delicious sorbets. We would like to thank you for a great culinary evening and will certainly stop by the market economy again very soon.

Wir hatten einen Tisch für 4 Personen auf 18:30 Uhr reserviert, uns ist bekannt, dass das Essen sehr lecker ist und hatten uns auf einen schönen Abend mit Freunden gefreut. Der Service war freundlich und bemüht. Wir hatten uns für eine Vorspeise entschieden, den Überraschungsmeter. Dieser kam auch relativ zügig auf 19:15 Uhr. Der erste Hunger war gestillt und wir freuten uns auf unser Hauptgericht…das kam nicht, ok es war ein lauer Sommerabend man macht keinen Stress alles gut. Uns ist wohl aufgefallen irgendwann das der Chef an Tische ging und Sorbet verteilte…aber gut….dann bekam der Tisch neben uns sein Essen, hinter uns, Leute die lange nach uns kamen aßen, wir nicht um 20:30 Uhr haben wir höflich nachgefragt ob wir vielleicht vergessen wurden, die Antwort war, die Küche hat zu viel zu tun, da zu viele Tische besetzt sind und dann noch die Frage ob wir kein Sorbet bekommen haben ?! Äh. Nein. Ich wurde dann unruhig da wir unsere Kinder zuhause hatten und nicht absehbar war wann es denn Essen geben könnte. ( Sie sind alt genug aber dennoch ) Um 21 Uhr , ohne weitere Infos oder Worte vom Service habe ich dann darum gebeten das Essen abzubestellen, da es mir zu spät wurde…10 min später war das Essen auf dem Tisch, NACH der Bitte um die Rechnung. Vielleicht bin ich zu anspruchsvoll wenn ich gerne als Gast gesehen werden möchte und es wäre fair gewesen von Anfang an mitzuteilen dass es heute bis zu 2 h dauern kann, aber nichts sprechen immer wieder vorbeilaufen und einen ignorieren ist nicht schön, wir waren keine anstrengende Gäste, kurzum ich habe mich nicht wohl gefühlt und dafür ist es mir dann doch zu teuer, zu einem Stern gehört auch ein bisschen Engagement um seine Gäste und vielleicht belege ich dann auch nicht innen und außen alle Tische.

An einem schönen Augustabend haben wir wieder einmal zu Gast in der Marktwirtschaft. Im Freien auf dem Marktplatz zu sitzen ist immer wieder schön. Die Gerichte waren sehr gut und der Service zuvorkommend. Der nächste Besuch folgt sicher.

It's not the first time I've been in the market economy and I really have to leave a review. The restaurant is in the beautiful old town of Besigheim. You can sit in the beautifully decorated outdoor area between olive trees and palm trees and surrounded by half-timbered houses. The dishes here are always something special. Even though the classic Swabian onion roast is available here, it is simply a touch finer and more spiced up than elsewhere. This time we ate pasta and both dishes were very tasty. The fine cuisine has issued a greeting from the kitchen that is always adapted to the seasons. So we had a cold, refreshing cucumber soup in the heat. The service is very good and the guest is very well looked after. The market economy is definitely worth a visit.

Sentence with X that was probably nothing... The service and ambience were really great, but the food was very disappointing. We had spaghetti twice, once with scallops, fish and prawns and once with truffles and chanterelles. Conclusion: I have never eaten such bad spaghetti in my life, lumpy, overcooked, too salty. The spoon was only to be used as a decoration, there was nothing to do with rolling up spaghetti. As a gesture of goodwill, we were served a dessert platter, which was super nice but unfortunately it wasn't a revelation in terms of taste. Maybe the other dishes are worth trying, but these are not at all worth trying.

Nice location. It's a shame that we weren't allowed to sit outside as requested despite having a reservation. I was so looking forward to my meal as I had heard a lot of praise. The starter was gigantic! The main course, homemade pasta with porcini mushrooms, was unfortunately overcooked and not a highlight in terms of taste 🥲

Very enthusiastic so far, especially with the meat;... because I was invited I didn't want to complain.... I had the presa from the Iberico... overall the dish tasted good... I was used to being asked about doneness... the meat came out medium almost well without asking... although I prefer it medium-rare even with pork... it's a shame about the great piece of meat...

Hochzeitstag, es sollte ein ordentliches Essen sein, dazu haben wir das falsche Lokal gewählt. Meine Ceviche kam ohne jedes Gewürz daher. Einfach blankes Meeresgetier mit klein geschnippeltem Obstsalat. Hat dann naturgemäß süß geschmeckt. Am Nebentisch hat ein Herr dasselbe freudige Erlebnis gehabt und meine Begeisterung geteilt. Das Fleisch meines Rostbratens war gut, sonst würde ich noch einen Punkt abziehen. Die Maultasche war ebenso weich wie die Spätzle, die zwar von Hand gemacht wurden, denen aber jeder Biss gefehlt hat. Gefehlt hat auch Salz. Die Soße war mittelmäßig, man hat geschmeckt, dass Wein drin war. An Gewürzen wurde auch da gespart. Bei meiner Frau war der Hauptgang ok, Loup de mer. Die Bouillabaisse hatte zwar Fisch drin, hat aber nicht danach geschmeckt, und auch hier wieder das Problem mit den gesparten Gewürzen. Außerdem war eine Karotte in der Suppe, und zwar ne große. Man muss nach Besigheim fahren, um das mal erleben zu müssen.

I really enjoyed my meal and the excellent service. The food selection was good. The prices were what you would expect in a tourist area but not excessive. I noticed locals eating there and that is always a good sign. An elegant venue and experience.

We were with friends in the market economy. We had chosen a foray through the kitchen with wine accompaniment (coupon book Genuss points.de 120€ for 2 people including wine accompaniment). The food was beautifully prepared and tasted excellent. The appropriate wine accompaniment from regional winemakers was perfect. However, the 0.2 liter mineral water for €5.50 was very expensive for my thirst.

Sunny midday ☀️ The terrace is packed... The service is busy bustling around... That was our first impression. Then we would be greeted warmly and led to a table inside with a word of regret. Although the staff was under stress, this was never noticeable at the table. We felt lovingly cared for and competently advised. The 6-course menu for €89 was absolutely delicious and a visual delight. The cuisine doesn't reach star level, but it's not far from it either. The fresh products are perfectly prepared and presented extremely attractively on the plate. The impressive wine accompaniment, with a focus on local wines but also a Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand, was absolutely cheap at €25. It was our first time there but definitely not our last. The market economy is a restaurant that also justifies longer journeys. Many thanks again to all employees for this successful lunch.

Nice restaurant in the beautiful old town of Besigheim. Wine and food mostly regional and freshly prepared. I recommend a reservation.

Price/performance is not right Too little choice for my taste and 15 euros for a currywurst is too much for me!
