I've never experienced such friendly service! And the food was excellent. The Argentinian rump steak was perfect, as was the apple strudel. We were a group of over 10 people, and the food and drinks arrived very quickly.

The ambiance has the perfect blend of historical and modern. You can hear, see, and taste that the food is freshly prepared. It's definitely the best restaurant in the area. The service is very attentive, courteous, and extremely polite. The staff knows the old rules of the restaurant business and they follow them. In conclusion, I can wholeheartedly recommend a visit to this restaurant to everyone.

Three people ate the burger 🍔, which was a bit salty. When the staff asked if it tasted good, we said it was salty and were immediately offered a new one. We declined, saying, "The chef was just in love." 😊

We were there with two children and two adults and would go back anytime. Fast and very friendly service and an ambiance befitting a typical Ratskeller restaurant. Modern yet cozy. The "Do-It-Yourself Burger" for kids is particularly noteworthy. Here, you get a homemade patty in a bun and all the ingredients for a burger (lettuce, onions, etc.) individually distributed on the plate. The kids can then build their own favorite burger. It's a great idea for children who like to eat without onions, etc.

Cozy restaurant in a harmonious, muted green with mustard-colored curtains. Very friendly and prompt service. Today we ate: Tasty tomato soup, delicious pumpkin soup. The veal meatballs with potatoes, caper sauce, and beets were delicious. Liver with onions, apple rings, and mashed potatoes, all tender and very tasty. Yesterday we had Fontane's signature dish. And since it tasted so good, we came back today. We are very satisfied!

The culinary offerings are extensive, but of fairly average quality. The prices are a bit steep, considering the price. However, you can spend a pleasant evening on the outdoor seating area. Only the loud traffic is a distraction.

We peeked outside. The village street runs right past the restaurant, but it's rather quiet. We had Fontane's favorite dish, a cod fillet. The service was friendly. Fontane's favorite dish is braised beef with red cabbage and dumplings. The meat was very well prepared and fell apart without being cut. The portions were generous. Two minor criticisms. The red cabbage was unfortunately a bit cold, and your dishes lacked salt. Unfortunately, it wasn't on the table. Nevertheless, an absolute recommendation.

A pat of veal! Anyone who can manage all three meatballs, the bowl of beetroot, and the potatoes should ask their surgeon for a gastric band...the Wiener schnitzel is also oversized...very good quality nonetheless! Thank you!

Six of us made a reservation for Sunday evening. It was busy, and we had a nice table inside. The menu offers a variety of dishes, from fish and meat to home-style cooking, vegetarian dishes, and much more. The prices are a bit above average, but the portions are large, and the value for money is reasonable. The staff were very courteous, cheerful, and always available. The location is centrally located in Rheinsberg, close to the castle. Free parking is available a few streets away, and parking permits are required.

An absolute highlight for us! We went there spontaneously and were lucky to get a seat, as we discovered after the first bites of the food. The food is truly excellent. We ordered the Wiener Schnitzel and the braised beef, aka Fontane's favorite dish. The schnitzel and the accompanying potato salad were not only visually appealing but also tasted fantastic. The braised beef was delicious and, with the side dishes (dumplings and red cabbage), a truly favorite dish ;). The service was outstanding, extremely friendly, and everyone had their own wit and the occasional quip. The ambiance inside is modern and yet invites you to relax and enjoy yourself. Outside, however, in good weather, you can enjoy the sun well into the evening. For us, this is a reason to plan Rheinsberg as a stop on our next vacation.

We come to the Ratskeller in Rheinsberg every few years and we're always impressed! I had a BBQ burger today, and it was incredibly delicious (not a drop of fat came out of the patty), and cooked to perfection! Truly fantastic! And we always order a red wine (Drei Rote Nasen) from Rhineland-Palatinate! The Ratskeller in Rheinsberg even inspired us to order a whole case of the wine! 😉! We can 100% recommend the Ratskeller in Rheinsberg!

The outdoor area of this restaurant faces the street, so I was there on a Sunday, so there was little traffic. The service was very good and attentive, and drinks and food were served promptly. When the server asked customers if everything was okay and if they enjoyed the food, they always received high praise. Unfortunately, I had bad luck with my BBQ Borger, as the minced meat was on the grill too long and left a burnt taste in my mouth when I ate it. Sometimes you're lucky, sometimes you aren't.

Everything was great and the staff were very helpful

Unfortunately, our first visit to the Ratskeller will also be our last. We were very rudely shown out of the dining room because a private party was having a meeting there, which wasn't advertised. We waited a long time for our food, after the waitress had already remarked that her colleagues had been "making a mess" all day. The food was good, but the payment process had to be interrupted twice because the waitress simply ran off to serve other tables. All in all, the evening there didn't go very smoothly.

Waited 20 minutes to order, then waited 100 minutes for the overpriced and terrible food. Terrible atmosphere. Never again. I recommend staying well away from this place.

After a long walk in the castle grounds, it's a great place to refuel. The waiter was very friendly, cheerful, and prompt, and the food was fresh and delicious. We had the asparagus and tomato soup and the veal liver. A lovely way to end a visit to the castle. There's plenty of parking nearby during the week.

We (25 people) were able to have lunch at the Ratskeller spontaneously and without a reservation as part of our company outing, as the restaurant we had originally reserved was closed. We would like to express our sincere gratitude for the spontaneity, hospitality, and excellent food.

We wanted to eat at the Ratskeller on July 7, 2025. We were turned away. A table became available, and guests who arrived after us got it. They hadn't reserved either! I find the way customers are treated in this restaurant extremely derogatory.

We were spontaneously able to sit down outside the Ratskeller, and three alternatives were quickly found, which were served in larger quantities and in a short time. Everything was fresh! A truly delicious meal at the Ratskeller! You don't have to go to Vienna to enjoy a great schnitzel – but above all, all our dishes were super fresh. We ate Wiener schnitzel and veal liver. We drank it with Oberdorfer beer and dry Riesling. Everything was as it should be: plentiful, well-prepared, and delicious. But it was just that little bit missing to earn us five stars. The staff was friendly, competent, and humorous—it couldn't be better. We sat outside on this warm summer evening. The restaurant is located on a busy cobblestone street, so it was a bit noisy with passing cars. All in all, a wonderful experience; we'd be happy to return. Highly recommended.

We ordered liver Berliner style and Wiener schnitzel. The Wiener was okay, grilled on the grill, but it was okay. It should have been served with potato salad. The liver was so dry, the mashed potatoes were unseasoned, almost like they were from a can, but the onions were as raw as an apple. Despite complaining, they served raw onions again. Never again. The service was very friendly, hence the one-star rating.

Simply really good! Regional cuisine, a small menu, but really well-made with fresh ingredients. We had lunch there on June 12, 2025. The first thing we noticed was that the service staff here are passionate about their work – simply fantastic. We had grilled chicken breast with fried potatoes and a side salad – wow, really good – juicy grilled chicken and fried potatoes just like mom used to make, the salad was fresh and served with homemade yogurt dressing – simply delicious. Then we had veal liver in Berlin style with onions, apple rings, and mashed potatoes. No grandmother or mother could do it better. I've never eaten such good veal liver – buttery soft, perfectly fried, the onions and apple rings – simply delicious – and then the mashed potatoes – beyond words. We haven't eaten this well in a long time. Price, value, service – very, very good. Please keep up the good work – this is simply good gastronomy.

The food ranges from excellent to exceptional. Children are especially welcome. The waiters are friendly, always quick to respond, and courteous. As the place got busier, however, a few mistakes crept in. Nevertheless, a definite recommendation.
