Ratskeller Kalkar in Kalkar

We've been going to the Ratskeller on Christmas Day for years. The food itself is always very good. However, I've been a vegetarian for four years, and the menu hasn't been changed in that regard in four years. There's no vegetarian option, and for years the only main course has been a vegetable lasagna. After four years, I expect a bit more creativity from a restaurant in this price range. It shouldn't be a problem to offer two or three vegetarian main courses. Vegans, by the way, won't find anything suitable here.

The Ratskeller in Kalkar is a very nice restaurant with excellent cuisine. The service is attentive to every detail, making guests feel very comfortable.

Full, but attentive service...it's a shame that the stay is time-limited; dessert or a coffee after a special celebration isn't possible; I won't be holding my own celebration there!

An absolutely top-notch restaurant on the Lower Rhine. I'd been meaning to eat there for over 20 years, and I'm annoyed I didn't manage it sooner. I remember the Ratskeller from my school days; I did my school internship there. After school, I wanted to start my apprenticeship there, but unfortunately, I moved away from Kalkar. Now I'm glad that the Ratskeller, primarily because of its excellent cuisine, but also because of Kalkar itself, keeps drawing me back. It definitely has the potential to become my "favorite restaurant"!

We were delighted with the friendliness and service. We were warmly welcomed, even with our toddler. We also found the food delicious. We will definitely be back.

No, folks, at that price point you really need to deliver something special, which unfortunately wasn't the case... The location was beautiful, the staff pleasant, but the food was nothing but greasy...

Despite being a private party of over 40 people, we were served very quickly and our food arrived without delay. The service is excellent and highly recommended; we will gladly return for another meal.

We went out for dinner spontaneously. We chose the Ratskeller in Kalkar. We didn't have a reservation, but they managed to get us a table. The service was top-notch. Super friendly and welcoming. The dishes we ordered were served super quickly. My steak was cooked just right. The fries were also cooked just right. Not too hard, not too soft. My wife's and son's dishes were also delicious. The ambiance is very nice. You sit in an old cross-vaulted cellar. Truly fantastic. I highly recommend this restaurant. I'd go back anytime. Thank you

I was very impressed. A beautiful ambiance paired with old cross vaults, everything is beautifully lit, and the tables are beautifully set. The service is very attentive. The food is thoughtfully prepared and served with love, and arrives very quickly. It tastes fantastic, and special requests are happily accommodated. I requested no onions and was asked, with consideration, whether I was allergic, as the dressing also contains pureed onions. Excellent. All in all, it was a very good decision to eat there. I'd be happy to return.

Absolutely fantastic. The food was outstanding and the ambience in this ancient building dating back to the 14th century was impressive.

Simply fantastic; I haven't felt so welcome in a restaurant in a long time. Top-notch service, the staff are incredibly unobtrusively attentive. The food was excellent; I had pork fillet in a mushroom cream sauce, the meat cooked to perfection. On my second visit, the steak was my choice, and it was worth every cent. I highly recommend this restaurant.

We've been to the Ratskeller for Saturday lunch several times, and it's always delicious, beautifully presented, and reasonably priced. The service is friendly and professional, and the ambiance in the basement of the Old Town Hall is charming. I highly recommend it!

The Ratskeller Kalkar is recommended for food and drink. A table reservation is also advisable! You immediately feel like a councilor. :-)

Yes, a great meal in a beautiful atmosphere Outside the market square and inside the old cellar vault. But without a reservation, little or nothing works.

We were a small group and had ordered our respective meals 2 hours in advance. The good reputation of the house can be confirmed. Beautifully set tables plus floral decorations. Every dish was a feast for the eyes, small warm rolls tasted very tasty. The portions were generous and tasted very good. Reservation recommended

This was my third time in the Ratskeller and I have never been disappointed. The old vault and the furnishings are simply great! The waitresses are very attentive and the food is a poem. I had a goose leg and it was soooo delicious! Full marks and my recommendation!

Sustainability and respect for food and possible wishes of the guest are missing. Breakfast buffet of a building company, was cleared away and disposed of... DOES IT HAVE TO BE THAT WAY !? Roast beef, salmon, cold cuts, fresh bread and fruit salad, cheese platter...everything in the bin. When asked, the short answer was “We never do that!” (Ask the guest if they would like to take something with them) VERY VERY PATH...and that with high-quality gastronomy and a beautiful location. . extremely disturbs the overall picture

Over-salted fried potatoes, redfish fillet is not recommended in terms of taste. My wife's food was good, so the rating is relatively good. Oh… without asking, drinks are served in half liter glasses 🫤

Were invited there for a 70th birthday. The service and staff are absolutely top notch! Food tasted so good - had starter, main course and dessert. All 12 out of 10 points!!! The epitome of “good bourgeois” cuisine. For everyone who wants to eat "German" food for a change, in the vaults of the Ratskeller, rustic, professional, top food, also a great address for business partners from abroad, simply delicious and always a pleasure to visit.

Unfortunately the entrance is already full. Every space used. Very loud. Too much on the map. Menus on the Internet are presented more variably. Almost everything is covenience. Don't have to go there anymore. It was probably really good. Service was just ok, despite mentioning the birthday, no reaction or niceness. Wrong dish served. For example, drinks (water) served without a lid. Overall, not worth the price for the overall performance.

That this still exists?! A restaurant with top service, a modern menu, every dish, like the drinks, was served to the right guest without any questions. We have rarely had dinner so good and so relaxed. The food was consistently of high quality and very tasty and all at very fair prices. We will definitely come back!

Ratskeller is een restaurant gelegen in een fraai historisch pand, gelegen in een soort van sousterrain. De inrichting is sfeervol met keurig gedekte tafels met wit linnen. Het eten is prima, de porties voldoende groot (is een Duits restaurant uiteindelijk) en je kunt hier heel gezellig eten.

Mega and there are options for outside and inside wheelchairs. But if you have to book early and clearly state the ramp is inside. And the food is simply great, fish or meat but vegetarians are also welcome there

Friendly service, could be a little more attentive. Ambience is nice, maybe a little too dark. Unfortunately the food was just mediocre. Rather bland and not very seasoned. Dessert is delicious, but the vanilla ice cream, for example, is rather neutral in taste.

I ate delicious veal liver in port wine sauce here. Since we were a larger group and many tables were occupied, the service had a lot to do. So more like 3.5 stars. Service was friendly. Gluten-free dishes were not a problem here. The desserts were also gluten-free except for the chocolate cake.
