A very nice cellar, a good atmosphere, attentive, friendly, and unobtrusive staff, well-organized, with prompt, expertly prepared, tasty food at fair prices. We'd be happy to come back.

After years of good service and good food, we were simply disappointed today. The service was so abysmal that it was a hopeless disappointment for a restaurant with such a reputation. After half an hour, we still hadn't received a drink, and then we learned so late that the food we ordered was no longer available. This is far from what we expected. You lost regulars today.

Highly recommended. Reservations are required on weekends.

We were there in a very large group and had a reservation. The staff was very friendly and quick. The food was really good! The price was completely fair. If I'm ever in Augsburg again, I'll eat there again.

Although the table usher initially seemed demotivated and unfriendly, the friendly young waitress and the kitchen more than made up for it. The roast beef with onions was a dream, the cheese spaetzle and roast pork were excellent, and the beer was great. The friendly waitress also came by every now and then to ask if everything was okay; they took care of us. Highly recommended!

Great place, nice with good food and fair prices

Absolutely fantastic ambiance, super friendly service. Unfortunately, the food wasn't great: the schnitzel was cooked a bit overcooked, and the fries were a hollow nothing, just a hard crust.

Warning: It's so delicious you'll probably become obese! Traditional German food, perfectly prepared. Flammkuchen, Schnitzel, Rostraten, all cooked to perfection, and Kaiserschmarrn and Aptelstrudel… so good, truly to die for!

The exterior is currently undergoing renovations, making it difficult for non-locals to find the entrance. The dishes are good, but some are only cooked in the evening, and this is never specified on the menus or website. Good German white wine, good kasspatzen platter, decent dessert strudel.

A FANTASTIC restaurant in the basement of Augsburg's town hall, a definite must-see, and a particularly lovely place for dinner. The walk to Ratskeller is incredible; you walk through a high hallway on a red carpet 😍 Then you enter a large, loud, and atmospherically dark room. A nice selection of food and drinks. I even tried the Bavarian spätzle with VERY aromatic cheese; it was something special! You definitely have to be a cheese lover, as the aroma is pungent, but I enjoyed it. The staff easily packs your food for takeout if you can't finish it. A great experience in a unique place!

I had the knuckle of pork, which was exceptionally good. The food arrived very quickly. The service was very friendly and accommodating. I was completely satisfied.

Unfortunately, I'm only giving it one star. I just left the restaurant, which I entered about 20 minutes ago. The place was empty at that time, and there were plenty of staff. I was seated at a table, but after that, all the staff just walked past me without paying any attention. No one came to take my order. New guests who came in, however, were served. Apparently, I'm invisible 😟

The best vegetarian Flammkuchen.

I understand it's in an old wine cellar (not 100% sure), but the food is excellent! The salad was delicious, and the spaetzle with mushroom cream sauce was superb. The turkey was a bit tough, but the combination of the salad and the spaetzle completely compensated. Cocktails were €5.50 during happy hour and were also really delicious. Definitely recommended, and the waiter was very friendly, and you can also pay by card. All in all, a top-notch restaurant, and the decor is also very unique and beautiful.

Even though reservations weren't possible, we were seated immediately. The service was quick and the food was delicious. The staff were very friendly. Good value for money. It wasn't possible to eat outside, which was a shame since the weather was nice.

Wonderful restaurant in the heart of Augsburg. We stopped for dinner with no reservation on a Thursday night. They easily seated our family of five and our dog with no wait. The waiter was friendly and spoke perfect English, which was great because my German is not very good. The food was delicious, as were the drinks. A very unique atmosphere too. We will be back!

After an initial discussion about the spot I had reserved five months ago, we finally got a decent spot. The service was 5 stars, and the food was also 4 stars. Accessibility, over the many steps, was only 3 stars. But 5 stars for the ambiance.

A wonderful place, located in the spacious cellars of the town hall, accessible from the town hall side through a wooden door. A magical and meticulously maintained place. Dinner with EXCELLENT traditional dishes, including excellent desserts and beers. Fair price, around €30 per person for a dinner for four (2 adults and 2 children) (2 soups + 4 main courses + 2 desserts + 2 beers and 2 Cokes). We'll definitely be back!

Always enjoyed going there, but quite disappointed on my last visit. Food was served extremely slowly (1 hour), which has always been the case. The staff were simply irritated and unfriendly, tables and food were swapped, there was no option to pack anything, and immediately after eating I had terrible stomach pains that have now lasted for two days. It's a shame, I won't be going there again.

We were at the Ratskeller yesterday for my daughter's 20th birthday, and all five of us were looking forward to the roast pork. I felt it was rude that they told us after ordering our drinks that both the roast pork and half the pork knuckle were already sold out. If we'd known that beforehand, we would have left. The fact that two of the pub classics were no longer available two hours (or longer?) before the kitchen closed, i.e., at 7:30 p.m., due to unexpectedly high demand, is a testament to gastronomic incompetence and/or negligence in a restaurant that is regularly well-attended and very often fully booked (including this Monday). The Ratskeller schnitzel, which we had to order as a substitute, wasn't a hit either, as the breading was completely soggy (take a lesson from our Viennese colleagues!). But too much success probably makes you full and arrogant. And if things don't go well for that reason, they'll probably call for government assistance again. It's a good thing that there are still plenty of other good restaurants in Augsburg that know their stuff.

It's been a long time since we've had such an excellent meal in the wonderful old Ratskeller vault...Perfect!

I've never eaten such a bad roast beef with onions as this! A small ball of meat with two tablespoons of spaetzle and a teaspoon of sauce. You'd normally fill up more with starters than that, but I've never left a restaurant so hungry... The funny thing was that there were more fried onions than spaetzle on the plate, and it wasn't even cheese spaetzle, which makes absolutely no sense... Everything on the plate tasted bland, like something from a nursing home, and was cold... barely edible without pepper and salt shakers on the table...

Reservations are recommended for dinner. The staff are very friendly. The food selection is extensive. The food came quickly and was very good. It's not cheap, but it's worth the money. Later, we wanted to have a drink at the bar. Unfortunately, that wasn't possible, as you can't stand together there because the waiters need the space to serve you.

The Ratskeller in Augsburg is located in a vaulted cellar directly beneath the town hall and is an absolute highlight! Good food and tasty Riegele beer!🍺 Service is very attentive.

We celebrated our wedding anniversary here and received a very warm welcome and delicious food. Delicious German cuisine, the portions are quite large for me; I had to struggle a bit to finish them. Good service, a pleasant atmosphere, and friendly staff. I enjoyed everything; I highly recommend a visit.

It's truly impressive when you open the door to the large hall with its high ceiling and exposed brick vault. The service team is very attentive and well-coordinated, and the food is excellent, with a reasonable price. There's also a very stylish bar, unusual for a brewery or town hall cellar, with a wide selection of long drinks and cocktails. It's also suitable for large events.

We visited this place without a reservation, there were a lot of people, but we were shown a table quickly. The menu has traditional German dishes. Tasty, but nothing special. The interior is ancient, with high cut vaults and very good acoustics, so it's quite loud inside. The service is fast, kind, and unobtrusive. The toilets are clean.

Lamb Schnitzel A delicious meal that is hard to find in Germany can be enjoyed in a wonderful location and historic space. The lamb has a good texture, is juicy and thick. The potatoes are also fluffy and the vegetables that come with it are also very good.

We had the veal schnitzel and the pork schnitzel. The veal schnitzel had: Vegetables - overcooked Fried potatoes - soft and greasy Schnitzel - could have been a bit crispier; the breading came off the meat in a lumpy way. An outstanding restaurant experience. It begins with attentive, friendly service and a great atmosphere. The food selection is regional and complements the drinks perfectly. Substitutions are no problem. We'll be back.

Delicious food! My first experience with spaetzle and it was wonderful. Very reasonable prices. Try the dark wheat beer that comes in a bottle - it’s like a dunkel and very good!

Unfortunately, you can't go here if you're really hungry anymore. We used to come here regularly, but the portions are getting smaller and the prices are getting higher. It's a shame. The service staff are still very friendly.

Rudtical cellar, sometimes loud acoustics

I've eaten at the Ratskeller five times now – and I always enjoy coming here. The service is always top-notch: friendly, attentive, and genuinely committed to making you feel comfortable. The ambiance is also really nice and inviting. My last visit (about five weeks ago), however, did have one small downside: the portion was a bit smaller than usual. It wasn't dramatic, but I noticed it compared to previous visits. On the plus side, the service apologized immediately and very politely – I thought that was great. Nevertheless, I would still recommend the restaurant! 4 out of 5 visits were truly excellent, and no one is perfect. I'm already looking forward to the next time!

Located in the center, it is the place next to the town hall: very large with long tables and very popular. I ate Sahniges Putengeschnetzeltes in feiner Pilzrahmsoße, serviert mit leckeren Eierspätzle (minced turkey in mushroom sauce with cream, accompanied by tasty egg spatzle): excellent.

Devoid of atmosphere. Entrance extremely hard to find. Menu not worth looking at. A dark dungeon.

After going down the stairs, we entered the impressive room and couldn't stop marveling. We received a very friendly welcome, were shown to our seats, and immediately enjoyed a delicious beer. I had the 7 Schwaben plate, which I highly recommend. The cheese spaetzle: perfect. The turkey steak: juicy. The Maultaschen (ravioli) and sauce: very tasty. The mixed vegetables: not overcooked, slightly firm to the bite, a dream. Tip 2: The bread dumplings with creamed mushrooms: delicious! Many thanks to the kitchen! The staff were all attentive and courteous. We came back the next day to enjoy it. 1 with ✨ P.S...clean restrooms are the hallmark of a good establishment :)

It's lovely to sit there. The food is always delicious and, I think, reasonably priced. Reservations are recommended, especially in the evenings or on weekends.

After visiting the Botanical Garden on October 27, 2024, we had a bite to eat at the Ratskeller in Augsburg. It was quite busy around lunchtime, with many reservations, always a good sign for a first-time visitor and the anticipated culinary delights. From the lunch menu, the attentive waiter Fred recommended the pangasius fillet with a rich hollandaise sauce. It was full-bodied, with a good hint of butter, which I couldn't tell whether it was pre-made or freshly prepared. There was no hint of vinegar, a noticeable lemon juice, and the pangasius fillet was pleasantly warm. The same applied to the tasty boiled potatoes. The side salad crunched upon consumption, and the classic dressing was very pleasant and not too acidic [17.8]. As an aperitif, or to refresh myself after the hike, I chose a half-liter of Helles beer from Brauhaus Riegele [4.7]. The Commerzienrat-Riegele-Privat is a light beer with a mild, spicy flavor, brewed using the traditional shot mash method, a real treat. The main course is accompanied by a mineral water, Mozartquelle (0.75 l, 5.6%), which can be considered reasonably priced for a brewery. The one-star deduction is for a completely unsuccessful dessert. The raspberry brownie with warm vanilla sauce (8.9%) was the complete opposite of the main course and a minor culinary disaster. The brownie itself was very watery (either the raspberries were frozen and not drained sufficiently, the mixing ratio was wrong, it wasn't baked long enough, or it contained too much sugar, which is known to absorb moisture). It's also doubtful whether a high-quality chocolate coating, such as Vahlrona with 66% cocoa content, was used. However, I rule out the possibility that the brownie accidentally fell into the Lech River. The vanilla sauce was cold instead of warm and probably didn't contain real vanilla pods (in defense of the ingredients, however, I'd like to point out that both good chocolate coating and, above all, real vanilla pods have high purchase prices, which are unlikely to be recouped in a brewery restaurant). Good old Fred treated us to a mug of hot coffee on the house in response to the complaint, which washed the rather unpalatable brownie away. Conclusion: Overall, a successful experience, a rustic and beautiful ambiance, a clean place, a good server, and we'll likely see each other again. As always, at the end, a note for my disabled colleagues: There's an elevator to the "cellar," and parts of the bar and restaurant are wheelchair accessible. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a look at the restrooms. Sorry. ME, retired economist.

We've eaten at the Ratskeller several times now, and the ambiance is fantastic. We've never been disappointed with the food either. The Ratshaus schnitzel and apple strudel are particularly delicious. The cocktails are also fantastic. We can recommend the Ratskeller without hesitation.

Came here when we were visiting our niece, she loves this place. I picked the Schnitzel followed by the strudel. All very nice and tasty. Staff were efficient and welcoming. Restaurant is surprisingly light and quite airy because of the high ceilings for a cellar. Enjoyed our meal and beer.

The food is delicious and the atmosphere is awesome! It's definitely worth going to; the restaurant is very different and original.

I ordered the Swabian plate. Unfortunately wrong choice, the turkey steak was far dry! The side dishes were OK. My criticism was not taken seriously. We definitely won't go there again, we can't recommend it to anyone, it's a shame we expected more.

Absolutely recommended location! The food is really delicious and the price is absolutely reasonable for the quality. The service is nice and attentive. We were here for dinner, spontaneously got a table without a reservation and had a great evening. Unfortunately, two larger groups came towards the end, which increased the volume significantly and ultimately made us leave. But the staff can't do anything about it! I can absolutely recommend this restaurant with a clear conscience and would be happy to come back here at any time.
