After going down the stairs, we entered the impressive room and couldn't stop marveling. We received a very friendly welcome, were shown to our seats, and immediately enjoyed a delicious beer. I had the 7 Schwaben plate, which I highly recommend. The cheese spaetzle: perfect. The turkey steak: juicy. The Maultaschen (ravioli) and sauce: very tasty. The mixed vegetables: not overcooked, slightly firm to the bite, a dream. Tip 2: The bread dumplings with creamed mushrooms: delicious! Many thanks to the kitchen! The staff were all attentive and courteous. We came back the next day to enjoy it. 1 with ✨ P.S...clean restrooms are the hallmark of a good establishment :)

It's lovely to sit there. The food is always delicious and, I think, reasonably priced. Reservations are recommended, especially in the evenings or on weekends.

After visiting the Botanical Garden on October 27, 2024, we had a bite to eat at the Ratskeller in Augsburg. It was quite busy around lunchtime, with many reservations, always a good sign for a first-time visitor and the anticipated culinary delights. From the lunch menu, the attentive waiter Fred recommended the pangasius fillet with a rich hollandaise sauce. It was full-bodied, with a good hint of butter, which I couldn't tell whether it was pre-made or freshly prepared. There was no hint of vinegar, a noticeable lemon juice, and the pangasius fillet was pleasantly warm. The same applied to the tasty boiled potatoes. The side salad crunched upon consumption, and the classic dressing was very pleasant and not too acidic [17.8]. As an aperitif, or to refresh myself after the hike, I chose a half-liter of Helles beer from Brauhaus Riegele [4.7]. The Commerzienrat-Riegele-Privat is a light beer with a mild, spicy flavor, brewed using the traditional shot mash method, a real treat. The main course is accompanied by a mineral water, Mozartquelle (0.75 l, 5.6%), which can be considered reasonably priced for a brewery. The one-star deduction is for a completely unsuccessful dessert. The raspberry brownie with warm vanilla sauce (8.9%) was the complete opposite of the main course and a minor culinary disaster. The brownie itself was very watery (either the raspberries were frozen and not drained sufficiently, the mixing ratio was wrong, it wasn't baked long enough, or it contained too much sugar, which is known to absorb moisture). It's also doubtful whether a high-quality chocolate coating, such as Vahlrona with 66% cocoa content, was used. However, I rule out the possibility that the brownie accidentally fell into the Lech River. The vanilla sauce was cold instead of warm and probably didn't contain real vanilla pods (in defense of the ingredients, however, I'd like to point out that both good chocolate coating and, above all, real vanilla pods have high purchase prices, which are unlikely to be recouped in a brewery restaurant). Good old Fred treated us to a mug of hot coffee on the house in response to the complaint, which washed the rather unpalatable brownie away. Conclusion: Overall, a successful experience, a rustic and beautiful ambiance, a clean place, a good server, and we'll likely see each other again. As always, at the end, a note for my disabled colleagues: There's an elevator to the "cellar," and parts of the bar and restaurant are wheelchair accessible. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a look at the restrooms. Sorry. ME, retired economist.

We've eaten at the Ratskeller several times now, and the ambiance is fantastic. We've never been disappointed with the food either. The Ratshaus schnitzel and apple strudel are particularly delicious. The cocktails are also fantastic. We can recommend the Ratskeller without hesitation.

I ordered the Swabian plate. Unfortunately wrong choice, the turkey steak was far dry! The side dishes were OK. My criticism was not taken seriously. We definitely won't go there again, we can't recommend it to anyone, it's a shame we expected more.

Absolutely recommended location! The food is really delicious and the price is absolutely reasonable for the quality. The service is nice and attentive. We were here for dinner, spontaneously got a table without a reservation and had a great evening. Unfortunately, two larger groups came towards the end, which increased the volume significantly and ultimately made us leave. But the staff can't do anything about it! I can absolutely recommend this restaurant with a clear conscience and would be happy to come back here at any time.

We chose the Ratskeller on Easter Monday as a stopover from our vacation to eat because of the positive reviews and we were thrilled. Great ambience, friendly and quick service and the quality of the food was exceptional. Best meat quality, the onion roast with a wonderful grilled taste, the roast pork couldn't be beaten in terms of juiciness and delicious seasoning. The Maultaschen are also delicious. Plus the wonderful Riegele beer. We will definitely come back and will happily travel 1 hour to do so. Thank you for the wonderful experience.

We had a wonderful evening at the Ratskeller Augsburg. The atmosphere was cozy and traditional, perfect for enjoying a relaxed dinner. The beer was fantastic, and the Weissburgunder wine from Baden was also excellent. We tried the Maultasche, which was delicious and full of flavor, and the Flammkuchen, which was perfectly crisp and tasty. To finish, we had the Apfelstrudel — a perfect sweet ending to a great meal. The service was friendly and attentive. Definitely a place I would recommend if you want to experience authentic Bavarian food and drinks in Augsburg!

Beautiful restaurant. I strongly recommend it! Clean, tidy! It's a little dark since it's in the basement, but very cozy. The ordered lunch arrived quickly. Huge portions. It's very delicious. Nice waiters. We didn't reserve a table and there was a free seat. Prices are affordable. We will definitely go again!!!

This restaurant is beneath the Augsburg City Hall. We stopped here without a reservation on a week day which they didn't seem too enthusiastic about. Nevertheless we got a table in the nearly empty restaurant. The food was great and the service was fast. I will agree that even at the time when there weren't too many guests it was quite loud.

Highly recommended. We took a lunch break here with a toddler (10 months). We received a very friendly welcome and the waitresses were also very accommodating. Our desire to heat the porridge wasn't a problem either. Our food came quickly and was very tasty! There was also a changing table and high chair, just great. Thank you, gladly again!!

Had lunch there. The food arrived very, very quickly and we all enjoyed it. The portions were also big enough to fill you up. We didn't make a reservation and got a seat straight away. It was a little dark, but that wasn't a problem.

We were there yesterday on April 12, 2025 around 7:00 p.m., were placed in the upper area and were thrilled. Not only because of the excellent food and the great ambience, but above all because of the courteous, motivated and very friendly waiter "Niko von der Burg", who does an excellent job. Anyone who has such a waiter in their ranks can count themselves very lucky these days, because that is no longer a given. He represents the Ratskeller well to the outside world and that's why we're happy to come back. We will warmly recommend the restaurant because it makes eating out fun. Keep it up!

Wir gingen Sonntags zu zweit zum Mittag essen ohne Reservierung hin, bekamen sofort einen Platz im oberen Stock, sehr schönes Ambiente, sehr freundlicher Service. Das Bier war lecker. Das essen war fantastisch, Zwiebelrostbraten perfekt medium, Schweinebraten schön saftig, zart und knusprig. Die Soße war super lecker. Unser Highlight war der Kaiserschmarren mit Apfelmus, super fluffig. Preis Leistung war super. Wir können den Ratskeller voll weiterempfehlen sowohl für Familien als auch romantisch für Paare. Eine 5 von 5!

Meine Frau und ich hatten am 22.04.2025 im Ratskeller Putengeschnetzeltes mit Spätzle bestellt. Erhalten haben wir Pilze mit Spätzle. Wir haben dies reklamiert und vom Servicemitarbeiter keine Antwort erhalten. Auch zum Bezahlvorgang erschien der Mitarbeiter nicht mehr. Wir haben dann bei einer Kollegin bezahlt. Erkenntnis : bisher waren wir immer zufrieden aber dies war wohl definitiv unser letzter Restaurantbesuch im Ratskeller.

Good home-style restaurant. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxing evening. The menu offers a great selection of traditional dishes, and everything I tried was freshly made and full of flavor. I particularly liked the Maultauschen and the delicately crusted roast. The service was attentive and friendly, which made the experience even more enjoyable. I can recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to enjoy authentic German cuisine. A place to enjoy traditional Bavarian food right in the Rathaus building. On the time of our visit, the hall was empty, all guests were seated in the yard. The weather was warm and sunny, and the whole experience would be great if not one small detail - smoking is allowed in the open area and as some guests were smoking the odor was reaching to our table with the slight wind. The menu is huge, nobody will stay hungry. Kid's menu is great! We weren't very hungry, so we ordered only two dishes - traditional potato cream-soup / Kartoffelcremesuppe (5.7€) for me and traditional Swabian meat dumplings / Maultaschen (11.4€) for my sister. I liked the sweet and savory taste of the Sauerkraut added to the soup, while the soup was a bit heavy and less creamy than I had in other cities in Germany. The dumplings were tender, the potatoes were crispy and the gravy was complimenting the dish just right. I think it would be good to visit this place again (and have a table in the hall), maybe at a little bit later hour, and try one of the traditional desserts this place offers.

We reserved online and the booking was not accepted in the evening, so we were kindly asked to leave the restaurant directly. In the reservation program it was not clear whether the reservation was accepted or not!

We barely managed to accommodate four people on a Thursday evening without a reservation. It's best to make a reservation! Ambiance a solid 10 out of 10 and certainly very suitable for events. Only the volume is a bit annoying at first, but it doesn't detract from the experience. It was easy to converse/understand at the table. Staff were always on hand and approachable, even gave water for the dogs. Food really delicious!

Roast pork, dumplings, sauce, schnitzel and fries were very sober and lukewarm. The service didn't ask if the food was good. Kellerbier very tasty, but could be colder.

Even though we didn't have a reservation, we were seated in a friendly manner. The food we ordered came out of the kitchen quickly and we enjoyed it very much. The portions are big enough to fill you up, the prices are reasonable and the staff who served us was friendly. All in all, recommended and if we're in Augsburg again we'll be happy to come back, then with a reservation. Keep it up, thumbs up.

The long cellar exit led directly into the very modern dining room. (There is also the possibility of an elevator) Despite not having a reservation, we still managed to get a seat and were able to enjoy the delicious delicacies, which we both really enjoyed. We had the Bavarian bratwurst and browned meatloaf. The service was consistently friendly and always attentive. Here you can only feel good and linger a little longer. We would come back at any time.

Last week I was in the Ratskeller again after a long time. I had a positive impression of the restaurant from past visits. The current visit still surprised me very positively. Great service and a great price-performance ratio for very high quality and particularly tasty food! You can only say positive things about the ambience in the vaulted cellar. It was a really great visit, I'd love to come back soon.

As a long-time guest, I am now somewhat conflicted. Of course, the unique ambience of the restaurant is a big plus. But unfortunately you can tell that the kitchen has recently been almost completely converted to convenience products. I suspect that only the roast pork and the steaks are really freshly prepared, other dishes and almost all side dishes are ready-made products. Unfortunately, a recent low point was the breaded "Ratskellerschnitzel", a frozen product, pale and tasteless and simply not worth the money. You can go here to get your fill, but don't expect fresh, home-cooked dishes. What is particularly worth highlighting is the attentive and friendly service staff; we have only had good experiences here on all of our visits. But we probably won't go there for dinner anymore.

An einem Samstag Abend besucht. Am Wochenende ist eine Reservation zu empfehlen. Exzellenter Service mit Humor, Spezielles Ambiente mit den Kellergewölben. Das Essen war warm serviert, lecker und in der Menge genügend. Kommen beim nächsten Besuch in Augsburg wieder vorbei.

Load a hammer. Very friendly service, very good food and cocktails and there is cocktail happy hour every day. You should just make a reservation in good time as the restaurant is very popular. Directly at Rathausplatz it's no problem using public transport, but it's not that easy to get there by car.

We are usually on site with larger groups (10 people). Making a reservation two days in advance is no problem for the restaurant. The food always tastes delicious no matter what you eat and the drinks are also perfectly mixed. Happy hour from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The service is always very courteous. Five of us were there spontaneously and got a high table without a reservation. The ambience is very nice, just because of the impressive cellar vault. The food was very tasty and the price-performance ratio was good. Friendly, courteous service rounds off the experience.

Went to the Ratskeller Augsburg with my son – simply great! From the friendly reception with seating allocation to the quick order taking, everything was perfect. The food was delicious and the service, especially our waiter, was excellent. We felt completely comfortable and would love to come back!😊

I was super disappointed. We had 3 main courses, all of which were served lukewarm and very manageable. For dessert we had the Kaiserschmarrn, which was completely cold and unfortunately only came back lukewarm even after we complained. We won't go there again and unfortunately we can't recommend it for the price-performance ratio.

We were thrilled with the Ratskeller. Good staff. However, the quality dropped significantly, not to mention the prices and portions. Ordered pasta and received children's portion of pasta. A small portion. Really now, 1kg of pasta costs 2 euros. You lose regular customers through this type of restaurant management.

We had previously been to the calf hall and were ignored by the staff - so we went to the Ratskeller. We were immediately spoken to and taken to the table. Even though the restaurant was already very full, the waiter made a nice seat for us. 5 minutes later we already had our drinks and 10 minutes later our food. The food was brought by another employee, but our waiter came by again to wish you bon appetit. You are treated really well here. Food tastes great - prices are great! The Ratskeller is and remains our number 1 when it comes to German cuisine. The atmosphere here is also really wonderful. Very cozy ☺️
