I had dinner at the Ratskeller with my wife again on Saturday afternoon. The food was delicious, as always. The service was very friendly. You simply feel comfortable there. We highly recommend it to everyone.

We had three absolutely wonderful visits to the Ratskeller Augsburg. The Käsespätzle and Maultaschen were incredibly delicious and exactly what you would expect from good, classic cuisine. The premises are stunning, impressive, and grand, instantly creating a special atmosphere. The service was warm, friendly, and incredibly efficient without being intrusive. We enjoyed everything, from the homemade lemonades and iced teas to the food and dessert. It was a thoroughly pleasant, relaxing, and outstanding evening. We would love to come back again.

We stopped by today for a quick lunch break. We just ordered a sausage salad with cheese and some pretzels to enjoy a nice beer. The waitress was very kind and attentive to the details. We'll definitely be back because there are so many tempting dishes on the menu! Excellent value for money!

The entrance is not wheelchair accessible. There are many stairs leading down and then many more leading up again at the exit. We reserved a table for 5:30 pm on a Monday in December. When we arrived, many tables were still free, but most had reserved signs. Therefore, I recommend making a reservation. We were greeted warmly and shown to our table. The server brought the menu, and we were able to choose at our leisure. The drinks arrived promptly and were pleasantly chilled. We ordered the soups and main courses. The festive soups arrived quickly and were hot and very tasty. The main courses were brought together and were unfortunately only lukewarm, but still very tasty. The portions are generous, and the ambiance is pleasant. By 6:30 pm, almost all the tables were occupied, and it became a bit noisy. The value for money is good, and the staff is very friendly. The restaurant is clean and tidy.

Ratskeller Augsburg offers one of the best German food experiences we’ve had. The food was incredibly tasty and truly authentic exactly what you hope for when trying traditional German cuisine. The menu had a great variety of classic German dishes, and everything we ordered was delicious. The drinks were excellent as well and paired perfectly with the food. What really made this experience stand out was the staff. They were incredibly friendly and very attentive, especially compared to other places in Germany where we unfortunately found the service to be quite rude. Here, everyone was welcoming, kind, and genuinely cared about providing great service. We had a fantastic experience overall and highly recommend Ratskeller Augsburg to anyone looking to enjoy authentic German food in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

We had a really great time at Rathauskeller. It’s a proper German restaurant, exactly what you hope for when eating in Bavaria. The food was very, very tasty. The pork knuckle was excellent, and the schnitzel was also really good. Even the fries stood out, which is not always the case. Everything we ordered was spot on, from start to finish. We also enjoyed the wine, which was better than expected for this kind of traditional place. The restaurant is set in a big hall with lots of people, so it does get quite noisy, but that’s part of the experience. It really feels like a classic German beer hall—lively, busy, and full of atmosphere. The waiters were very kind and friendly, which made the evening even better. And to finish on a high note, the desserts were delicious as well. All in all, a great place for traditional German food, a warm atmosphere, and a real local experience. Definitely worth a visit.

Best veal schnitzel I have ever eaten!!!

The food was decent, nothing special in my opinion. Main courses were large portions, but the side salad was very small for the price. Also, the hot dishes were just warm—not hot. We were hungry, so we didn't complain. The service was excellent, and the dining room is very nice. Overall, it was okay.

Excellent German cuisine in a truly beautiful setting. The old vaulted cellar has been modernized in just the right places without losing the charm of the historic building – very stylish. So far, the best pork knuckle I've had in Augsburg. The staff is also top-notch!

Food bad, service bad, prices bad

Beneath the Rathaus, adjacent to the Christkindl Markt, entering from a nondescript iron side door, the Rathaus was a very pleasant, fun surprise! Clearly a favorite for locals celebrating lively work Christmas parties. High, arched brick ceilings, with an upscale bar, the food and service were terrific. Hirsch (deer) Ragout and Schweinebraten — both with spatzle, and each for €16.40. Giuliana was a terrific server. We did not have a reservation at 4:40 on a Friday and were able to get a table — promising to leave by 6 pm (where it looked like every table was reserved).

A really nice restaurant. The place was always packed, the service was friendly and quick, and the food (roast pork and half a pork knuckle) was good. Not fine dining, but for a rustic restaurant, it was more than okay. We were satisfied.

Unfortunately, the visit was disappointing overall. Despite moderate occupancy, we had to wait almost an hour for our food, which was completely disproportionate to the number of guests. When the food was finally served, the sauce was only lukewarm, and the dumpling was clearly from the day before, which significantly detracted from the enjoyment. The noise level in the dining room was also very high, even though the restaurant wasn't full, making pleasant conversation nearly impossible and negatively impacting the atmosphere. On the positive side, the service was excellent: the staff were friendly, attentive, and consistently polite – unfortunately, the only truly positive aspect of the evening. Overall, the impression remains that the restaurant urgently needs improvement in its organization, kitchen procedures, and overall atmosphere.

The onion roast beef my daughter had at your place tonight was really bad; who cut the meat? It's unacceptable to offer something like that, especially at that price – outrageous!

The nicest place in all of Augsburg, both for the place itself and the tasteful food (not too expensive, I was expecting way more). There is a lot of choices, but the service - even in very kind and available - is a little bit slow. It is very recommended to book in advance (for groups even a MONTH) because it is not only good but also famous. Bonus point: big and clean bathrooms

A wonderfully charming atmosphere in the old town hall cellar. There's a good selection of food and drinks. The staff were friendly, the portions were generous, and the food was delicious. The prices were also relatively reasonable. All in all, very tasty, excellent value for money, and highly recommended.

A perfect place for a perfect evening! I've been a regular guest for many years, sometimes as a couple, sometimes in a group, or even for a meeting I organized with 40 people. It's always a pleasure to eat there or simply to enjoy a drink (or two 😀). The staff is exceptionally friendly, attentive, and always in good spirits! A huge compliment to the entire team and management!

A typical, traditional Bavarian restaurant. Hearty meals and delicious beer are served here. As is usual in such town hall cellars, a reservation is definitely recommended, unless you arrive before the peak hours. Then you still have a good chance of getting a table without a reservation. Otherwise, food and drinks are always served quickly. Another great advantage is that pictures of other cities are shown via a projector, including one of Hamburg, the most beautiful city in the world.

The restaurant is located in the basement, accessible via a staircase leading down from a side entrance next to the city hall; it has a very atmospheric feel. Besides the basement level, there's another section further down the stairs, but this area is smaller and can be quite noisy due to the concentrated sound. If you prefer, sitting on the upper level offers a more spacious and quieter environment with more interesting decor. The Bavarian cuisine is quite delicious, including dishes like white sausage and pork knuckle, and of course, fresh beer. There's a happy hour until 8 PM with some special cocktails at special prices. Reservations are highly recommended for Friday nights and weekends.

We were quite satisfied on our first visit. This second time, we came with a group. Unfortunately, it was disappointing. The onion roast beef was sinewy, the spaetzle and gravy were lukewarm, and the side salad was rather basic. The steak came with few, hard potatoes, and the vegetables were actually hard, almost uncooked. The service was slow and clearly unmotivated. The only exception was the children's meal. The fries were hot, and the schnitzel (apparently forgotten) was very tasty. Overall, unfortunately, not good enough for a repeat visit, despite their accommodating efforts. A real shame.

Today, we were guests at this restaurant for a company event with a group of about 19 people. The service was quick and friendly, and the food arrived hot and attractively presented about half an hour after we ordered. It's worth noting that the restaurant was quite busy. Both the main course and the dessert were delicious. Overall, the visit was very satisfactory; however, my only complaint is the sticky floor in the restroom.

We reserved a table for two hours. Right after two hours, we were politely asked to leave. So it's best to reserve a table for a bit longer. Otherwise, everything was fine.

The three of us arrived without a reservation, and despite the restaurant being full, we received a very warm welcome and were seated after a short wait. The food arrived quickly and was delicious. The waiter was also very attentive. We would gladly return and highly recommend this Swabian-Bavarian restaurant!

A truly unique atmosphere. "Ratskeller" (town hall cellar) perfectly describes the place, as does the menu: "Traditional German cuisine in a convivial and unique setting." Centrally located and impossible to miss, you enter the restaurant via typical cellar stairs until you open the large door and glide into this cozy vaulted cellar. The friendly service quickly showed us to a free table, and we ordered freshly tapped beer and delicious food: egg noodles with salad and the Ratskeller schnitzel. In total, including drinks, we paid around €50, which is incredibly reasonable. Here, you treat not only your stomach but also your soul. We would have loved to spend the rest of the evening there, but our football club from Dortmund called us away for an away game! We will definitely visit the Ratskeller in Augsburg again when we have the chance. Here, you're treated well and, most importantly, left satisfied for a very reasonable price!

A truly beautiful place in the vaulted cellar. Away from the stress and hustle and bustle. It's been two weeks since we were there, but we're still raving about it. Really friendly and attentive waiters and waitresses, a very traditional and cozy atmosphere. And then the simply perfect food. A roast pork that couldn't be topped, and the veal schnitzel "Ratsherrenmeister" with pretzel crumbs was simply fantastic. The side dishes were just as fresh and aromatic. Simply a delight. That alone is reason enough to come back.

We ate here yesterday and were thrilled. The ambiance is beautiful, the food was delicious, and the drinks were excellent. The cocktails are also highly recommended. Our waiter, Fabio, made the biggest impression. That was service like you rarely get these days. First class!!! Thank you 👍 👍 👍 We had a wonderful evening and left the restaurant happy. We were there on a Friday evening, spontaneously, and the place was, of course, packed! Why I would come back in a heartbeat: We were greeted pleasantly at the desk and weren't rushed off. The service is superbly coordinated and they handle the crowds with open minds! Fabio, our server, was always there despite the station being full, courteous, and just to the point. Thank you! Good, simple, and fresh dishes, too cheap for the location, the portion size, and the speed with which the kitchen delivers! Great people!

Last night we had dinner at the Ratskeller Augsburg – and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The appealing ambiance immediately catches your eye upon entering: stylish, cozy, and designed with great attention to detail. We particularly liked our seat on the gallery above the bar, from which you can easily see what's going on in the restaurant. The atmosphere was pleasant and inviting – perfect for a relaxed evening. A big compliment goes to our waiter, Nick. He was friendly, attentive, and truly authentic. You can immediately tell that he's passionate about his job – fantastic! The culinary offerings were all of a high standard: We had, among other dishes, roast beef with onions, a Ratskeller plate, schnitzel, and Maultaschen (swabian ravioli). For starters, we chose 'Fädlesuppe' (a kind of soup with squash and cream of pumpkin) – both excellently seasoned. We accompanied them with various cocktails that were not only delicious but also beautifully presented. Overall, it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening: great food, outstanding service, and an atmosphere that immediately puts you at ease. We highly recommend the Ratskeller Augsburg and will definitely be back!

We had the best Radlers (lemon beer) and delicious schnitzel and other traditional foods here. The atmosphere is dark and cozy as well as lively too. I highly recommend trying it.

Very good food in a very charming place

The food was excellent, and the service was prompt and courteous. We were there as a tour group (about 50 people) and felt at home from the very beginning. The ambiance upon entering the beautiful, spacious hall is very impressive.

The Ratskeller in Augsburg is located directly beneath the beautiful town hall and is easily accessible. It serves good, home-style cooking. The service was extremely prompt and friendly. The non-alcoholic cocktails were delicious! 😋 We would definitely recommend making a reservation, which can be easily made online. I highly recommend the location. We'd be happy to return on our next trip to Augsburg. Those with limited mobility should inquire in advance, as the premises are only accessible via several flights of stairs. I didn't see an elevator.

We arrived early this afternoon, and it was surprisingly full. Unusually, they had adopted the American custom of "wait to be seated." Oh well, you can do that once in a while. There was no one at the counter, and no one came. So I went to a waiter who was standing there looking bored and asked if he had a table. The answer was clear: I should go to the front of the counter, someone would be there. I replied that I'd been standing there for a while and no one had come. Again, a clear message. We're just not more than we are, so they'll just wait. Then I left.

Wonderful German meal-- not touristy but vet classy food and decor and service. A simply great experience from the kind host allowing the two of us to be seated at 9 pm as walk ins without reservations to Lotti the patient and helpful server and the chef's food-- was SO delicious! Not your standard touristy food but a much higher quality of nuanced and delicious flavoring just like Oma used to make! Go and you will NOT be disappointed!!!! Super decor too!

We couldn't get a meal at this restaurant. Although it says it only closes at 1:00 AM, the kitchen closes at 9:30 PM. And there's no indication of this on Google.
