Full of anticipation, we went to the “Wirtshaus unter dem Bogen” for Sunday lunch for the first time. I would say the ambience is exactly like an upscale tavern like you would find in Munich, large dining room, narrow, beautiful tables, full house with the corresponding background noise. The prices are sometimes at Munich level or even sometimes higher: Double espresso: €5.80... that's very expensive for the price/performance ratio... but a children's portion of cheese sparrows: €6.50... that's ok again... children's carvings with fries (okay, veal, but pork can't be ordered at all): €14.90... hard... What I didn't think was ok for this upscale gastronomy was my onion roast; which actually costs €29.80, but with a “change of side dish” (yes, apparently the restaurant also has to make money here) of spaetzle on fried potatoes +€0.80 was added, and was served around the time I had just finished half of my starter had... so tight timing, no cozy Sunday dinner... I even observed a waiter licking his fingers after serving the food (apparently he got in the sauce tapped) and then cheerfully continued serving. I'm just saying meal, but in fairness I have to say that the waitresses had a good time serving the guests. A little more staff would have been helpful. All in all, good food, no wow factor and this will be our first and last visit. It's a shame, but there are better inns.

Down-to-earth Bavarian restaurant with good food and friendly service

The goulash soup is a 10 out of 10 and the roast pork is simply delicious. It is served with a delicious dumpling with plenty of the best sauce in the world. Thank you for this experience. As a very critical hobby cook, I have to say that it is the best regional cuisine I have ever eaten in a German inn. In the future there will only be one address for me in Augsburg.

Great restaurant with delicious food! We spent our Christmas party here and enjoyed a very nice evening. I can't say anything about the meat dishes because I had a vegetarian dish, which wasn't just cheese spaetzle for a change. Really great! The service is great - very, very friendly, attentive and accommodating. There were around 20 of us and the restaurant was busy at the time, but our food came very quickly. Our drinks were always refilled quickly. I'd love to come back. Thank you for this lovely evening.

Traveling to Germany in December last year - so we had a drive of a few hours on the and we decided to stop in Augsburg to have lunch. The place of choice was Das Wirtshaus ... and here are the findings. Location - very close to the townhall of Augsburg - on the Unter den Bogen street ... it's a pedestrian section of the city center, so you have to park the car somewhere nearby and walk to the place. Good seating capacity - several levels - we asked for a table for 3 and we were directed to the upper levels where we found a table for us. Service - fast and professional , the waiter did a very good job. Food - well, when in Germany I've chosen German food - Calf liver with onions , and dumplings , all served in gravy , a very good choice - the liver was nicely cooked, just right and the gravy was delicious , a very nicely balanced dish from my perspective. The menu was loaded with very good choices, the gents I've been with ordered a plate for 2 - with half a duck , pork and sausages - it looked really great and they loved what they've got. They've got a good selection of drinks too, so you can find your favorite ... personally I'm a huge fan of German beer and picked the beer that advertised on the table the "Maximator" - a superb sample of German brewing, a lovely dark beer ... Prices - very decent with a great price to quality ration. When you are in Augsburg, and you are looking for some German food, I recommend you try this place.

Located in the center very close to the huge Rathaus Platz, an impo nente building with attractive interior with classic decoration. We had dinner wonder with our dog. The dog sonal with knowledge of Spanish He is friendly and efficient. The typical food German food with generous portions and well cooked quality product at more than correct prices.Desserts large and tasty. I was at lunch today and had schnitzel with potato salad. I asked the waiter if potato salad was homemade. She said yes, but it tasted so inedible out of the bucket. The schnitzel was already good

Bavarian food in the middle of Augsburg

We had a nice time here but there were issues; probably caused by language as much as anything else. We booked a table for 2 at 6:30 but when we turned up we were told that our table was unavailable as it ws booked for 6pm. We saw the waitress write down the details (6:30) as we called by in the late morning to make the booking in person and I even offered a mobile phone number to confirm it. We were sent up to the 2nd floor and were found a table but it felt like we were a bit of an inconvenience. The place was busy with Christmas parties who were the focus of attention. The food was tasty, and arrived quickly. The beer and wine were fine too. The table booking mix up could have been handled better.

The food and service are excellent, although it costs €1.00 for cranberries and €0.80 more for a dumpling instead of coleslaw, which I only find on the bill is a shame and unfortunately seems a bit greedy.

Our waiter was grumpy from arrival until we left. Not a smile or a question if our food was good. She misunderstood our order and therefore brought the wrong food. Seemed disinterested in what was going on and ruined our experience. There is generally a lot of noise when the room is full and definitely a place I would avoid with smaller children. I would come again if there were no other options…. The only positive was their spetsle was super good.

An absolutely great restaurant! The food was outstanding, but what really made our visit memorable was the exceptional service. Our waitress was incredibly friendly, attentive and made sure we felt completely comfortable. She fulfilled every wish with a smile and was always there without being intrusive. A true pearl in gastronomy! We'll be back next year and have already made reservations - not just because of the delicious food, but also because of the fantastic service. Das Wirtshaus liegt inmitten der Fußgängerzone. Zunächst haben uns die Preise etwas abgeschreckt. Diese liegen doch etwas höher als wie bei vergleichbaren Restaurants. Aber es ist jeden Cent wert. Der Reihe nach: Wir wurden sehr freundlich begrüßt und konnten uns noch einen Tisch aussuchen. Die Einrichtung ist so wie es in einem Wirtshaus auch sein soll - einfach gemütlich. Der Service war perfekt, total freundlich, kompetent und sehr aufmerksam, auch wenn das Wirtshaus langsam immer voller wurde - TOP! Zum Essen: Der Zwiebelrostbraten und das Cordon Bleu schmeckten sehr gut, die Portionen sind wirklich üppig. Preislich, wie gesagt schon recht teuer. Aber man bekommt wirklich was für sein Geld und das war es uns dann auch wert. Wir haben es nicht bereut.

Staff tip top. Attentive, friendly and on the ball. The food is very tasty and of good quality. The decor is modern and the rooms don't necessarily make you feel like you're sitting in a pub. The beer and food is really good. There were 8 people and everyone had their meal at the same time.

We have on November 4th. celebrated my mother's 80th birthday here. It was really great. The service is great; fast, very friendly and very attentive. The food is delicious, especially the vegetarian selection is absolutely worth noting. Top! The portions are really big…enough even for good eaters. We would love to come back.

There my wife was offered me a nice table in the Rehlinger Stube. The selected food, pork knuckle for my wife and liver Berlin style for me, were very good in terms of appearance and taste. Our waiter was very friendly. We haven't eaten so well in a restaurant like this for a long time. We will definitely go there again.

Absolute no-go! Two weeks ago I reserved a table for 4 people on Saturday evening. We chose the inn specifically because of the much-praised duck and accepted a 40-minute journey. 1 day before (Friday afternoon) I called to pre-order half a duck twice for Saturday evening. The reaction of the female operator on the phone was that I didn't have to call because they don't have duck in the evening anyway - combined with a smug smile. When we wanted to place our order the following day at 6:40 p.m., the waiter in charge of our service informed us that duck was unfortunately out. Our disappointment in connection with the explanation that we had made a special request about this the day before. We made it clear that we had called. However, after we were very hungry we decided to stay and order alternatives. One choice was a Viennese veal schnitzel with fried potatoes. We asked that the fried potatoes be prepared without onions, which was confirmed - but the dish was served with onions - a mistake on the part of the kitchen as it turned out. Our waiter Jermaine (who had to listen to our displeasure for the second time and who couldn't do anything about the two mistakes) reacted very professionally and quickly organized a portion of bar potatoes without onions for the schnitzel. And he also provided a lavish dessert platter with dessert variations for the ducks that were no longer available despite pre-ordering. Thank you very much for that and once again big praise to Jermaine for dealing with these situations professionally! The other dishes chosen (roast pork and pork fillet medallions) were ok - although the fillet medallions were cut extremely long and we were wondering how you get "mini schnitzels" cut from a fillet for such a long time. And the roast pork was also better remembered. In summary, we can say that we felt more like a "mass processing" on Saturday evening and we will choose another inn for our planned duck meal.

4 Personen gegessen. Wiederholter Besuch. Freundlicher Service. Allerdings hatte ich schon vor 3 Wochen gebucht und bekam einen Tisch im EG, bei dem 2 Personen ohne Rückenlehne saßen. Nicht schön. Der Service hat uns dann auf Bitte einen Tisch im OG zugewiesen. 3 Essen gut bis sehr gut. Zwiebelrostbraten: gutes Fleisch, schön medium allerdings recht klein und wenig Sauße. Abweichend zu Spätzle hatte ich Kartoffelknödel bestellt. Serviert wurde 1 Knödel, der sich auf dem Teller verlor. Ich kenne das Gericht mit Spätzle, da ist der Teller knallvoll. Das wäre besser möglich gewesen.

Wir sind im Rahmen einer Geschäftsreise in der Innenstadt gelandet und wollten abends etwas essen. Das Lokal war an einem Montagabend gut gefüllt (gutes Zeichen), wir haben aber sofort einen Platz bekommen. Ist ja auch immer gut, wenn man einen Augustiner Edelstoff bekommt. Wir haben den Schweinebraten probiert, die Portion war reichlich und hat sehr gut geschmeckt. Das Fleisch würde ich aber eher als "Wammerl" bezeichnen und war mir einen Tick zu fett. Aber, wie gesagt, alles in allem hat es sehr gut geschmeckt. Der Empfang und die Bedienung waren freundlich und der Service gut.

Das Essen ist gute deutsche Küche. Die Preise sind jedoch übertrieben. Vegetarische Maultaschen, ein Schnitzel Wiener Art mit Kartoffelsalat, ein Beilagen Salat und zwei Getränke und schon waren wir um die 70,- Euro los. Hier stimmt das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis nicht. Die Qualität ist gut, im Vergleich zum Preis, sind die Portionen dann doch nicht groß genug. Es ist halt auch einfach die touristisch hoch frequentierte Lage.

Restaurant found via Google Maps. It was very busy at lunchtime, but we were still able to get two seats. VERY VERY delicious cheese spaetzle (really large portion) as well as a portion of homemade Obazda with fresh bread (3 scoops of ice cream scoop - huiuiuiui was a lot, but delicious). Ein uriges Wirtshaus im Herzen von Augsburg. Auf Empfehlung einer Hotelangestellten haben wir dieses Wirtshaus aufgesucht. Hier gibt es ortstypische Spezialitäten zu einem recht fairen Preis, wobei ich es schon etwas überteuert finde , wenn ein zusätzlicher Semmelnknödel 4 Euro kostet. Das Bier ist von der Augustiner Brauerei. Leider ist die Bierschwemme sehr laut und eine Unterhaltung fast nicht möglich. Das Ambiete erinnert einen an die Bierschwemme vom Hofbräuhaus. Das Essen war sehr lecker und wir haben nach jeweils zwei Bier das Wirtshaus gesättigt verlassen.

This was the best meal I had in Germany. They recommended a beer supplied for Oktoberfest, and I ordered sausages and pork with potato dumplings. Compared to other traditional German restaurants, the food was less greasy and had a refreshing taste, which made it really enjoyable. Even the cabbage dish had a nice, tangy flavor. If I visit this city again, I would love to come back.

Unfortunately I don't understand the good reviews here. Anyone who has ever had really good Bavarian food and who isn't just concerned with having as much as possible on their plate for as little as possible can't give this more than 2 stars. Service was ok, food wasn't good at all. We left half of it standing and had to get out because from floor 1 onwards the air in there is almost unbearable.
