Beer was warm food was partly out I not so great

The brewery's pumps were incredibly loud at 8 p.m., pumping and hissing so loudly that you could barely hold a conversation for 25 minutes. We waited 45 minutes for our food.

Unfortunately, I can't give any stars, perhaps because of the service staff, who were outnumbered by such a large number of guests. We registered with around 250 guests. In advance, we were promised the entire menu. Upon arrival, we were immediately shocked: the menu was reduced by at least two-thirds. Then, after four orders, one dish was no longer available, even though we had announced 250 people. Then, in some cases, we waited for an hour for the food. It went on like this the whole time. Some people didn't get anything because of the food. The food itself wasn't good. Canned mushrooms. Who wants that for that price? I definitely can't recommend the place. A solid five and no stars.

The beer is good, there is ice cream and coffee, the waiters are very nice, and the place is big enough.

We had a reservation for 5 people (2 children) today. We waited an hour for our food. One of our meals was almost cold, and the portions were much smaller than before. Unfortunately, I no longer recommend it.

The menu was reduced to five dishes, and despite the announced reservations, they ran out of food very early on. No alternatives were offered, as they were sold out by then. The response was anything but professional.

Reservations had been made in advance for almost 300 people, but most of the dishes were no longer available. If you reduce the menu to five dishes, which is perfectly fine, you should still be able to ensure that everyone gets a meal. It's nothing more than a tourist trap. It's a shame about the beautiful location.

Absolutely overwhelmed when you arrive with 200-300 people! We had reservations. The waitresses were the most pitiful. I would have taken off my apron and gone home. As a restaurateur, you simply have to put in more effort these days!!! The only thing that was halfway decent was the beer.

The Wiener schnitzel was more breaded than meat, and the service seemed overwhelmed. Half of the menu was no longer available because everything was empty, and some of us didn't get any food at all.

It's a restaurant we always go to. I celebrated my birthday there with some friends. We made a bit of noise, but the staff was always very pleasant. The food was delicious, varied, and reasonably priced.

The biggest disappointment in my life (66 years). The ice cream has nothing to do with the picture, the cream is lumpy and Smarties are missing. Bread three slices moldy. After 15 minutes still no replacement. There is only one sensible response. Never again in my life to this restaurant.

The quality of the food has declined significantly in recent years. Napkins and knives were only available upon request. There were only forks on the table. Waiter got the knives and napkins from the next table so they were missing there. Roast crust with 2/3 pure fat. We used to love eating there.

The staff was friendly, but took a while to arrive (even though there was little going on at that time of the meal). Tables not really clean. The food (four different dishes) was lukewarm and tasted nothing special. The request not to coat the liver in flour before frying (for health reasons) was ignored - but the price was reduced as an apology. The onion roast was really disappointing (tough, dry, flaxy). There was a very unpleasant smell in the women's toilets and the cleanliness left a lot to be desired. Conclusion: Ambiance is impressive, but the rest is disappointing. First and last visit - not recommended...

Very moderately attended on Saturday evening and some of the service people were even overwhelmed. Stopped by again to order - nothing. Salad with rocket, despite an urgent request. The food was put together carelessly and simply. Small portions for the price asked. Let's see how long this lasts. We probably won't visit the store again.

We were your guests for the first time on April 24, 2025 at around 4:30 p.m. The first impression was great, the bar with the brewing kettles in the background is fantastic. The employee behind the bar was very friendly and offered us free choice of seats. Her service was outstanding, fast, extremely friendly and very accommodating. She was even so sweet that she brought our driver a shot glass of water so that he could toast with the three of us. The food was very good, the price/performance ratio was great. Big compliments again to the waitress, she has an exam the week after next and we wish her all the best for her exam.

The ladies' toilet is a stereotypical train station toilet, smells awful, dark and disgusting. It's unbelievable that this is even accepted by the owner and staff. Food was lukewarm to cold, not well cooked (schnitzel breading was partly still "raw"), or cooked for two days (roast), strange cheese patties, burnt onions in it that are slithering on top, long waiting times even though we were there very early, later guests were delivered before us, not enough service staff for the rush, there was no reception at the entrance, why make a reservation if everyone goes in without one anyway. The ambience, the furnishings, really impressive, it's a shame that it's so poorly used. It was our first visit and probably our last.

We were there today for the first and unfortunately the last time. First of all: the atmosphere and the restaurant are great. The service was friendly. The food and drinks came to the table quickly. But: We ordered an aperol and a wheat--> the waitress told us that we had run out of ice cubes today, so far so good.. Then we ordered a holiday soup and asparagus cream soup--> The waiter said that the flädle were out, but that more liver dumplings would be put in the soup. Ok --> then she came, the liver dumplings ran out. At the end there were 2 small semolina dumplings in the very salty soup. The asparagus cream soup was very watery and tasteless, and the roasted almonds advertised on the menu were also missing. We then ordered the burger and the onion roast with cheese sparrows. After about 5 minutes, the waitress stood in front of us again, visibly embarrassed, and told us that there was no burger today... the schnitzel we ordered had no taste at all, and the potato salad and the dressing for the side salads also had no taste and were not good. The onion roast was very tough, had a strip of fat in the middle and didn't taste good, almost all of it went back into the kitchen. And that for 28 euros! When we asked whether we liked it, the waitress told us that she often gets complaints about the meat, but unfortunately nothing has changed. I would advise anyone not to go there. We've never had a restaurant visit like this before. Very unfortunate.

Changing quality of food! From really tasty to just barely possible. It's a shame, it probably depends on which chef is on duty at the moment. But! Staff is currently difficult to find in all sectors. The potato salad with the schnitzel was unseasoned, as if it had been dragged through water. - Neutral like curd soap!

I can only recommend, top service - friendly, helpful and child-friendly, food tastes excellent, portions very large, short waiting time for the food, cheap dishes on the monthly menu

I like being in the calf hall, very good food, if something were to happen it would be fixed immediately in a friendly and professional manner... the staff is very friendly helpful and competent... we are lucky that we have always had the same waiter and after 3-3 visits he already knew what drinks we always order... a very big compliment and thanks to him...

Food was good but waiting time was long

Warm food throughout, several dishes (7) no longer available at 2 p.m. Not even Kaiserschmarrn or ice cream. Kinderschnitzel was the last dish for 16 people. Food was so-so. After complaining to the kitchen, they said they had to take a break. The waiter was then friendly and tried to save what the kitchen had ruined. Toilet smelled. Loud hall. Prices okay but the list of services is poor.

That was nothing. As we all know, tastes are different, but so much money for so little quality is just not good. The worst thing, however, were the toilets. The smell there was almost unbearable and they weren't clean either. It's a shame about the great location and the friendly staff...Even if you couldn't actually pass anything due to the language barrier and the waiting times were relatively long.

The ambience definitely has a certain charm. From previous visits I know that the beer garden is also very nice in summer. But that was almost it with positive things on our last visit. The service was poor because it was almost non-existent. 2 waitresses for Saturday evening is not enough, especially if one of them is hardly present. Not to mention real warmth. Long wait for food order and until the first meal came. The second meal at the table (we were there as a couple) only came over 10 minutes later. The side salad that came with the first dish only came a few minutes later when we asked. The food was neither particularly hot nor tasty. The tarte flambée was the only dish that was good. The crusty roast in the home cooking range for 9.90 euros had such a tasteless sauce that I had never experienced in a home-style restaurant. The 2 dumplings that came with it were the size of a child's plate, as was the surprisingly small red cabbage bowl, which barely covered the bottom. The side salad, also in the home cooking offer for 3.90 euros, consisted of 4 slices of cucumber, 3 eighths of tomatoes and a handful of leaf lettuce (it looked like it came from a ready-made bag). As a dressing there were a few splashes of tasteless ready-made balsamic sauce. I also find over 5 euros for a 0.4l juice spritzer to be excessive, even if there are beer offers for 3.90 euros. Neither of the two drinks was poured on the mark; everywhere a few millimeters were missing from the promised information. We gave up on our initial attempt to order dessert when no waitress ever stopped by after the food was served, despite hand signals and waves. We then had to do it ourselves to be allowed to pay... Conclusion: It's a shame, the space and the supposedly cheap home cooking appealed to us. If this is the case, we probably won't repeat our visit.

Nice restaurant, super friendly and attentive service. Unfortunately, things look different when it comes to eating. Onion roast was ordered medium rare but was then completely fried, the plate of heavenly happiness consisted of a meatball that was strangely seasoned, which is always the chef's taste, mine wasn't, a slice of roast pork that wasn't seasoned at all and a leg of goose and the chef can now say what he wants, this leg was already waiting for a guest at lunchtime. In short, I don't go there anymore

Brutally disappointing. The lunch service on a Monday lunchtime is such that you wait about 40 minutes for an overpriced meal, which then comes cold, overcooked, tough and stretched out. Dumplings cold or overcooked, resulting in slimy, the meat tough and rubbery and the sauces watery or too thick. Sad, because this restaurant was once an absolute must-visit, we won't be coming back. In addition, you are persistently ignored by the waitress.

A dish was mistakenly delivered to the next table, which the waitress flatly denied. We should have waited another half hour for the missing dish - under no circumstances! The food didn't taste bad, it was just completely tasteless. With a crusty roast you have to do this first. Absolutely no recommendation.

Meat was hard and small portion, steak had no taste, watery drinks, everything was very soaked in oil, schnitzel was very tasty but partly raw... :(The service didn't exactly show any interest either.

So the following service was great and friendly but the food was cold, unabridged and the sauce was so thick, the dumplings were only cooked in water and not cooked in salt water. We were there at lunchtime. It really wasn't busy, but we waited what felt like an hour for our food! The salmon definitely died twice... the grilled vegetables were 80% carrots, and the side salad unfortunately had a pre-made dressing! The restrooms are a disgrace. Dark and not very clean! What a shame...

Gigantic restaurant with ample seating room. Pet friendly and the food was great. Reasonable prices.

The location itself is beautiful. The restaurant is also well furnished. The service was nice and quick, but I have to say that there wasn't much going on on the Friday evening when we visited. The food tasted good, but unfortunately it wasn't even lukewarm. I had a Bavarian Heavenly Luck that was served in a pan, a very nice idea. Only if the pan is ice cold and the food is served in it, it can't be warm, because no cook can serve it that hot. and there is nothing worse than having to dip the lukewarm dumpling into the cold sauce. I always think it's a shame when the simplest rules "warm dishes are hot plates, cold dishes are cold plates" are no longer followed in such great locations.

Went to the calf hall with a group today. First you have to highlight the nice service staff. Very friendly, even though the terrace was the only one open and, given the weather, several tables were occupied, she kept coming back and asking if anything was needed. Food came quickly. Roast pork, breaded turkey schnitzel, Kässpatzen, plain turkey schnitzel and side salad were good. The portion was smaller than on the last visits. But everything is getting more expensive... We'll be back

Great ambience. Very impressive. Staff friendly. Parking space available. Rabbit beer delicious. Can be purchased to take away. My meal of spinach dumplings was totally seasoned. Dumplings mushy. Add salt to the sauce. I can't recommend it at all. Bread and spread good. Otherwise there is nothing to complain about.

Unfortunately our visit was not as enjoyable as we had hoped. Our visit took place on a Sunday at 5 p.m. and as soon as we entered the restaurant we were not greeted at the entrance or were almost ignored, even though there was hardly any activity and the floor was very dirty, which didn't leave a good first impression. The selection of dishes was very limited, as the majority of the dishes on the menu were sold out (pork schnitzel, spaetzle, duck, fried potatoes, etc.). The hint that I could simply order cheese spaetzle instead of spaetzle gave me the impression that nothing was made fresh here, because in the worst case scenario, spaetzle would actually have been made again quickly. But if Kässpätzle are still available, it's actually only because the food has been prepared for a long time and most likely bought. Unfortunately, most of the food we got was warm and not hot. Particularly disappointing were the fries, which were partly old and partly fresh, and the dumplings, which were more like the size of a golf ball. The staff was friendly, but seemed slightly disinterested and we didn't get much feedback on our criticism of the food. All in all, the visit was not very commendable and we would definitely not come back.

So the food was very good. For a small hunger it is enough (onion roast) about 27 € but a bit expensive. The women's toilet was clean but there was a strong smell of urine. Disappointing visit in a beautiful location! We were in the calf hall on a Saturday at 4 p.m. The building and the atmosphere are really impressive, but unfortunately the positive ends there. Although only five tables were occupied in the huge hall, the service was poor. We were ignored for a long time and only served after what felt like an eternity. The beer we ordered was already tapped at the bar, but was not brought to the table. Before it was finally served, the waitress frothed it with a fork - an absolute no-go, especially in a brewery restaurant. The food also took a long time to arrive and the service was consistently inattentive. The highlight was the sanitary facilities, which were more reminiscent of a train station toilet than a well-kept inn. The food was OK but nothing special. Overall a disappointing visit - we won't be returning.

We discovered this restaurant because of its quiet location and beautiful terrace where you can sit and enjoy a delicious, cold beer in summer. But as time went on, we came back more and more often because of the very friendly staff, the fast service and the delicious, simple dishes. Compared to other beer restaurants where it's too crowded, the staff is stressed and overloaded with their tasks, and the food leaves something to be desired, this restaurant wins with a hundred stars⭐️. We are very happy to have found such a place and will come back again and again. For a simple dinner and relaxation, you couldn't ask for a greater indulgence.

Simply the absolute blast, a Viennese-style turkey schnitzel with potato salad for 9.90 euros, a 0.5 liter beer for 3.90 euros, apple strudel as dessert for under 4 euros, the service was super friendly, what more could you want. It was also tasty and the portion was absolutely sufficient. So it's also possible to offer quality food for under 10 euros. This makes you want to stop by more often, which is better economically for the restaurateur than asking prices of over 20 euros and only seeing the guest rarely or not at all. I can only recommend it to everyone and please be patient, if the meal takes a while then that's no problem, as a guest you are neither on the run nor in a canteen and perhaps one or the other can use the time to talk to people at the table and give their cell phone a break...

I was there with my girlfriend on Valentine's Day. The service was excellent and very attentive. The table was romantically decorated and the food was delicious. The menu selection is diverse.

We were there for the Green event around Annalena Baerbock. That's why I can't say anything about the food and service. But both looked very good. Otherwise nice location with the heart in the right place.

Large location with a large selection of delicious dishes, there should be something for every taste... Always tasty and inexpensive offers. Friendly service. Always worth a visit.

The food was very good. The service was attentive and friendly. The atmosphere at lunchtime is pleasant. However, I could imagine that it would be a little louder in the evening.

The visit and the meal were very satisfying and delicious! I was there with a wheelchair, but the toilet doesn't work that way! First, someone wrapped their child in it and disposed of this waste in the toilet without flushing! The changing table was very annoying, consisting of 2 tables, not foldable and is somewhere else in the anteroom of the women's toilet!!! Please change - thanks for everyone else!!

Terrible dishes!! How can you praise that? There were 8 of us there and almost all of us were dissatisfied, more precisely 6 found the food catastrophic, for 2 it was just OK. No taste, small(er) portions and not warm. It was already an imposition. We were there for the first and certainly the last time. In addition, the toilets were dirty and the interior was too cold for a stay. Overall, just the bottom drawer. Not recommended!!

Superb New Year's Eve in a beautiful setting with an excellent meal

I've been there several times and after my second bad experience, I would now like to leave a review. Both times I was here were on a Sunday afternoon. The food was okay. The time before last it wasn't particularly warm, last time it was better. Unfortunately the gravy on the roast pork was the same sauce as the duck gravy advertised in the menu. My companions had the quarter duck and a turkey schnitzel. For the second time in a row there was no currywurst. For the quarter duck, it didn't say anywhere that dumplings had to be ordered separately. The menu named duck with sauce, red cabbage and 2 dumplings. Unfortunately there was no red cabbage left. The worst experience, however, was the waiter: Summary: - unfriendly - long waiting time - stroppy - inattentive The good gentleman wasn't even remotely motivated to be there for his guests. Not only did he seem hopelessly overwhelmed, he was also absolutely unfriendly! If you read it straight away: be ashamed of yourself for acting like that! He emphasized that he was not happy with the calf hall itself, that everything was going badly and he complained that the guests always told him when something wasn't right. So everyone: If this model waiter has his way, go straight to the kitchen and complain! The good news for everyone who still wants to experience the calf hall: According to information, the waiter's last day is December 31, 2024. I hope I don't have to meet him again in other restaurants in Augsburg. I don't like it when I'm not even allowed to finish and he starts yelling at his guests. In this sense. You'd better look for something else.

We arrived 5 minutes before our reservation and then stood in the entrance area for a good 5 minutes. Several waiters and waitresses saw us and ignored us. We then simply chose a place and continued to wait until someone came to us. Again we are seen and ignored several times. 3 employees are busy “decorating” tables. The two families who came after us and just sat down were served immediately. After another 15 minutes we left. So I have no idea what the food tastes like. I can't rate it.

The quality decreases from year to year. It's a shame actually. Years ago it was one of our favorite restaurants, but now it's just a mass restaurant with hardly any quality or service.

Unfortunately, the ambience is the only thing worth it there. The service was rather unmotivated. I was rather disappointed with the food. Even though it was just a soup, I thought the days of ready-made broth in the catering industry were over.

Our visit to the calf hall in Augsburg with over 30 people, including children, was a complete success! Right from the planning stage, the Kälberhalle team did everything they could to ensure that our evening ran smoothly. The organization was excellent and we were seated directly at a large, comfortable area that had enough space for our group. The food was excellent - a great mix of Bavarian classics and modern dishes, so there was really something for every taste. What was particularly commendable was the speed and quality with which all the food was served, even for our large group. The children were also well looked after and had the opportunity to choose from a suitable selection of dishes. The service was outstanding - friendly, attentive and always with a smile. The staff responded to all requests, whether it was extra requests for the children or additional drinks for the adults. The warm atmosphere thrilled us all and ensured that both adults and children felt completely at home. The Kälberhalle is the perfect place for larger groups and family celebrations. The mix of great food, first-class service and a relaxed atmosphere makes this restaurant an absolute recommendation. We'll definitely be back!

The Kälberhalle restaurant really impressed me! The food is absolutely first class - the dishes are excellently prepared and taste great. I was particularly excited about the fact that there are also vegan options such as a vegan schnitzel, which not only taste good but are also served in an appropriate portion size. The ambience in the calf hall is unique: the mixture of rustic charm and modern flair creates a cozy and at the same time special atmosphere in which you immediately feel at home. It's really a great place to start a nice evening with friends before moving on. The only small disadvantage is the location - it's not ideal if you want to go directly to the city center. Nevertheless, the restaurant is definitely worth a visit, especially at the start of a relaxed evening.
