Ratchada Thai Restaurant & Bar in München

As a lover of Thai cuisine, I absolutely recommend. Wide choice of dishes that respect the true traditional flavors (Difficult for Thai cuisine). Also a selection of dishes from the Isaan region. Very good. Externally it certainly needs improvement, it seems like entering a shabby place but inside it seems like being in one of those places with a familiar, and at times a bit trashy, atmosphere, typical of Thai.

Very good Thai food, good drinks and very friendly staff. Felt like a little piece of Thailand in the middle of Munich. If you have the itch for some good Thai food, this one is a good spot for it. They seem to season with German spice tolerance in mind, so maybe request "Thai spicy".

Food is okay, but unfortunately too expensive for what you get. It also takes a very long time to be served. (We had a waiting time of about 50 minutes.) Ps: Unfortunately they only had top rails and no bottom rails.

Excellent Thai food, and very cordial hospitality. We felt very lucky to discover this place. It was 3:30pm, too late for lunch, too early dinner service... we were two weary and hungry travellers looking for food. the senior gentleman warmly welcomed us and we had a lovely meal of red curry chicken, tofu and vegetables stir-fry and rice, and ginger tea. The genuine warmth of our host made our day. Will come again in our next visit to Munich. We strongly recommend this place! Only caution is...the entrance is a flight of stairs down.

Food was very good! Possibly the best pad thai that I have ever had and the sticky rice dessert was perfect. Service and the place was nice even though the entry from the street was not that glamourish.

Delicious original Thai food is here, we are Bangkok people who can guarantee the taste. Kai Jaew (Thai omelette) Ka Praw Moo (small prok fried) And many menu. Highly recommend if U need original Thai food.

Me considero una persona fácil de comer, pero por supuesto preferiblemente comida deliciosa. Por supuesto, cuando viajabas y buscabas la comida tailandesa favorita, es normal si no estabas contento con el sabor de la comida, igual que comer en Tailandia. Como tailandés, me decepcionó la comida aquí, todo estaba salado. Todo salió mal, empezando por la bebida. Pedimos té con leche tailandesa, trajeron leche rosa helada, ensalada de papaya sin cangrejos salados y vino con cangrejo salado. Al final pedimos helado de coco y preguntamos si solo podemos tomar una cucharada, pero la respuesta fue no, así que tomamos lo que se sirve y muy decepcionados. El helado era insípido sin diferencia de tener hielo triturado. Al final las facturas venían con doble cargo de la bebida , cuando le pedimos al camarero que comprobara y su reacción fue grosera. Ese mismo día, había otro cliente extranjero , una mesa de dos ordenan solo una sola cucharada de helado y nada de comida. Otra mesa de tres tenía un plato cada uno. Éramos dos tailandeses, que pidieron tres platos principales y arroz más helado y bebida, pero fueron tratados sin respeto por un camarero tailandés. Dondequiera que vaya por la comida, no me importa pagar, pero en este lugar siento que nada es digno de la comida al servicio. Y como antiguo dueño de un restaurante y chef, esta es mi primera vez escribiendo la crítica del restaurante no porque no estuviera contento con la comida, pero el peor servicio es la razón principal y espero que lo mejoren.

So you are not respected here if you want to put on English songs, I was allowed to put on a song and then I had to wait 20 minutes because the owner himself put on his Thai songs. Better go to a private karaoke room!!!

Simple restaurant that felt like the 90s and hidden at a corner of a building. Good food Pad Thai, Tom Yum Soup. Totally authentic. We dint enjoy as much because of jet lag recovery.

Thai restaurants abroad that taste just like they do in Thailand. Because I wanted to eat, I ordered a little too much because of the large size of the dish, following the style of food from foreign countries, but I ate it all. If you come to Munich and want to eat Thai food, I recommend it.

Food was not authentic. It was a weak mix. Friendliness was not there either, every time the gentleman looked at his watch. When we wanted to order dessert, we were told that was not possible. If you let your customer in at the last minute, you must also give them full service. Definitely not worth repeating!

Food is not bad for Thai restaurant in Germany but out standing for Thai people , but the papaya salad was good - many good Thai restaurants don't make good papaya salad here so if you love this dish this is the place to come. I love the decor esp. the Thai pillows.

Very delicious, every bite was delicious. My boyfriend said it was as delicious as eating in Thailand, so we ate it all. The service staff is good and friendly. Anyone coming to Munich would recommend it.🫶🏻

A great and authentic Thai restaurant. Hidden in the basement, completely inconspicuous from the outside. I was very pleasantly surprised when I went down the stairs. The service was unique, very hospitable and there was delicious tea beforehand. The food was very tasty and prepared with love. Don't understand the good reviews...the food was really bad...Pad Krapao ordered fresh minced meat...got cheap minced meat from the discount store...the starter was really bad... The people who write here are the best Thai... I can only laugh, sorry, what kind of people are there who think that's good... the restaurant is in the basement... actually that says it all... Conclusion: starter zero. 4 main courses zero.. This for 169 euros.. there are certainly 100 better Thai in Munich and it doesn't take much... My tip for good Thai food. It’s in basement . Waited at the door for 5 min , resturant was empty with only one table full , but no one cared to offer and get me seated . Zero star Obviously need to turn back and look for something more humane .

It was Sunday night at 11:30PM. In Europe, everything closes at 11PM. Left with few choices, but with a hungry stomach, decided to venture out. My choices were Halal street vendors filled with kids or this joint. I was wary in the beginning, but given its 4.3 Google rating, I decided to try. Boy, am I glad. Blasting with people doing Karaoke in Thai, it felt like I was in some bar in Bangkok. I ordered Pad Thai and Som Tam Thai (Thai papya salad). It was good enough for me. Thai chilli sauce was legit.

Firstly the food is very original Thai, the seafood wasn't quite as good but the Laab Gkai was great. The cocktails were also very tasty. The loudness of the speakers was negative, they were only a foot there and sometimes you couldn't understand your own words.

I was very surprised when I came to this restaurant. It was very warmly decorated with lots of color. You don't expect such a great ambience on Schwanthaler Straße. The food was very tasty and the portions were good too. It wasn't cheap, but I was completely satisfied. Definitely a restaurant you'll want to go to again. I felt very comfortable.

Original Thai. Not diluted to match German taste. When I went in, the whole place was full of Thai nationals which is always a good sign. The food was so good I returned the next day too. I think the best Thai in Germany

Known and popular among expats. The menu is extensive and varied, the dishes come to the table quickly and fresh. The taste is very convincing, visually beautifully presented and prepared with fresh ingredients. The service is reserved, friendly and never intrusive. The dining room is in the basement, you climb down a long staircase and then find yourself in a colorfully decorated restaurant. Tip: Like every Thai restaurant, Ratchada also has its own version of Pad Thai and the house version is very tasty!

Me and my husband we from Finland. Of course he so loves Thai foods. This restaurant is originally tested 👍👍👍 if you want to know how is original Thai food. Please come 💪💪💪

The tom yum goong was delicious, but the pad thai was too greasy. I tried to leave a separate tip, but I felt bad because they forced me to add 10% as a credit card fee.

Well.. it's definitely "something".. love it or hate it.. we loved it.. Underground, crazy wild Karaoke music, SUPER loud... disco lights and gloomy atmosphere as if you've been dumped into a 70s war movie but in a good way.. food is great, prices are ok for Munich, not super cheap.. this place feels super authentic in so many ways, starting from the fact 10 out of the 13 diners that were present were Thai. I'm guessing it's where Thai people go when they want to feel at home.. Only complaint was that service was a bit slow.. Also, the fact that the music was so loud (club level loud) was something I only started enjoying once the food arrived and I started to lean into the atmosphere.. Will def come again!

Best Asian in town, it really feels like you’re in Thailand!

I fancied Thai food today after last night food fiasco during Valentine’s Day dinner. Came here for dinner. The restaurant wasn’t full at all. Nice decorations even if the place runs down a bit, I liked it. We decided to order a few Starters to share with my friend. Papaya salad, chicken satay, fish cake, Tom Ka Gai and Tom Yum Goong soup. The latter came with coconut milk in it which was not expected by my friend who mentioned it to the waiter. The one who took the order didn’t like it and said she could have mentioned it before that she wanted the blended Rom Yum Goong.. anyway the soup has been changed and we just ate our foods. The owner came to check on us from time to time if everything was alright while the other one kept mumbling again about the soup. Anyway, the food was ok but nothing particular, my Tom Ka Gai was not great at all, there were for sure a lot of coconut milk but I couldn’t taste the lemongrass, kafir lime etc.. it was also a bit pricey. The papaya salad was the best out of all.

The food in the restaurant was very good! There were also a few other Asians there eating, which is always a good sign. However, the wine list could be expanded a bit. The staff was very, very friendly. I celebrated my birthday and was given a birthday cake with fireworks from the restaurant. Great surprise. It's a shame that the store was only 50% busy. However, the party atmosphere was very good.

STRAIGHT FROM THE MOTHERLAND! 🇹🇭 The minute you walk into this place you can’t help but ask yourself: am I in a thai restaurant in the middle of Munich, Germany OR is this some sort of magic inter dimensional portal that teleports you straight to a food joint in the streets of Bangkok? This place is perhaps the greatest Thai restaurant I’ve ever tried in my life (no joke) and is all thanks to its authenticity, the tastiness of its dishes and the true vibes of the place. I’m not quite sure if it’s the stroboscopic christmas style light show along its walls, the strangely looking, yet mesmerizing, art displays showing elephants near a waterfall or the fact that there was a table of 20+ Thai people right next to us having the time of their lives and eating insane, yet tasty looking, quantities of food. Or perhaps all three combined! Whatever the case might be, this place is การต่อสู้ (banging)! It’s the place where Thai people living in Munich go eat. The place that might seem a bit odd from the outside due to it’s not so clean entrance, but that hides a box full of wonders and life changing experience behind its walls. And have I mentioned they have karaoke nights with a in-house DJ set? Unfortunately I didn’t get to experience them but it wasn’t because of my lack of interest let me tell you. In summary: Their pad Thai? Outrageous Their soups? Pure fire Their staff? Friendly and loving people Their decor? Out of this world Their prices? Affordable Their cocktails? They look insane (definitely trying those when I come back) STOP wasting your time eating at mediocre, pretending to be, Thai places with average Thai cuisine and come experience the REAL DEAL folks! Bad service and food was bland. They overcharged for water (asked for basic free tap) and the food was not spiced nor salty enough. They don’t have salt shakers and didn’t offer to fix the situation. Surprisingly bad service. Very frustrating experience for overpriced Thai food

Terrible food and service!!! 1. The Tom Yum soup and Tom Kha has no salt in it and we asked for more salt, the waitress just keeps telling us it should taste that way. 2. We asked for free faucet water, but we got charged 8 euros for a bottle of water (which we didn’t order) and 4 euros for a glass of sparkling (which we didn’t order either). 3. Terrible service from the restaurant people. They lack basic human communication skills. 4. Food is not worth the price at all. Overall, super bad place. Do NOT go here!!

Bestes thailändisches Restaurant in München!

Ich hatte bei der Bestellung vom Papaya Salat explizit gesagt, NICHT scharf. Leider war der Salat aber so scharf (2 Chillischoten), dass ich ihn nicht essen konnte und komplett zurück geben musste. Meine Mutter, welche ebenfalls einen Papayasalat hatte und eigentlich gern scharf mag, konnte ihn ebenfalls nicht aufessen, da er so extrem scharf war. Obwohl ich es beim abräumen gesagt habe, wurde der Papyasalat vollumfänglich verrechnet. Fand ich sehr schade, denn 12.50 EUR in den Sand setzen ist nicht wenig.

I went there with my international friends and all of them seem to like the place. As Thai, who has studied recipes and visited culinary Thai courses, the only dish I would say "Ok" was its papaya salad. Apart from that, whether Green Curry, Red Curry, Panaeng Curry and Fried pork with Thai basil, everything tastes "wrong". The service was somewhat unfriendly and would be rarely found in Thai culture. They rushed us and showed unsatisfactory facial expression as my friends took a little bit of time to decide. The server told me in Thai that he/she wouldn't wait and handed me the order paper to write down the order 🙃 When paid with credit card, the woman charged me 3 euro more...for what??? Is that legal here? Wouldn't recommend 😤😡🤬

My international friends seem to like the food. As someone who has been studying recipes and attending Thai culinary class, I cannot fully agree. Only their papaya salad was ok, apart from that -whether red curry, Green Curry or Panaeng Curry- all wrong. Didn't taste authentic and the attitude of the staff was not nice, even my friend could notice that. Upon paying with the credit card, the waitress said she needed to charge 3 Euro more. What a rip-off! Never ever will come back nor recommend this place.

The food at this restaurant was so delicious that I ended up going twice while in Munich for 5 days. The food is super authentic and portions are very big! Service was a little slow and our appetisers got mixed up both days, however honestly the food was so good it didn't matter in the end!

I must say that this place is on top in my person Thai restaurant list. Food was amazing with good quality. We were greeted by Thai tea and post that we ordered Thai curries with chicken and also vegetarian. Both dishes were equally tasty. My favourite one was Thai green curry with Chicken.

Went there multiple times, The food always taste like home. (I'm Thai). Order the fish, not enough people know about this dish. "Pla tod krataim" The only downside I could say is the entrance and atmosphere is not for everyone. Give a strange vibe.

But this place is Thai to its core, and unapologetically so. It’s exclusively Thai and Laotian staff make and serve real Thai food for Thais and anyone who appreciates the flavors and spice of real Thai food.

Very quiet while I was here in the afternoon on a Friday. But the food is wonderful. Note that they only take cash. But not a problem as it’s reasonable. I had the red curry with shrimp, and the hot and sour Tum Yum soup.. I would recommend both.

Ich war mit einer Bekannten am Freitag, 01.09.2023 abends im Ratchada Thai Restaurant & Bar essen. Das Essen ist authentisch Thai, sehr gut und die Schärfeangaben mit den Chilischoten entsprechen dem Schärfegrad. Das Positive am Restaurant ist das Publikum, zu 90% asiatischer Herkunft, sie teilen die authentische Küche. Der Service ist zuvorkommend und sollte aber öfters die Gäste auf Getränke ansprechen. wenn die Cocktails auch hochpreisig sind, sie sind lecker. Gerne wieder. Sawadee krap, Axl Schmidt.
