I was in Munich for three days and had countless options for dining. Luckily, however, I stopped at Kaimug on Sendlinger Straße on my very first day! The stir-fried vegetables with tofu tasted so delicious, authentic, and fresh that I simply went there three days in a row and ate the same thing. I never do that normally, but it tastes simply amazing! The service is super friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant is very cozy and lovingly decorated. I will be happy to return here again and again! The prices are reasonable. Tips are not requested—just in response to the untenable claim in another review. But I always like to tip.

During my last visit to Munich, I noticed this place and was eager to eat there today. I ordered the green Thai curry and a ginger iced tea. You order and pay at the counter or conveniently online; there's a QR code on the menu for that. The restaurant itself is cozy, but unfortunately, there are only hard stools and bar stools to sit on. I love the decor and ambiance, though. The staff were very friendly. You get a vibrating pager, and the food was ready within five minutes. And I thought it was really delicious. Just the right amount of spice, still crunchy broccoli, tender pieces of chicken. The portion isn't too big for the price, but it was perfectly adequate for me; I was very full afterward. I missed a couple of ice cubes with the iced tea, but I would have gotten some if I'd asked for them. The bottled drinks, however, are ice-cold. I found the restaurant visit super easy and will gladly return. Of course, if you want a relaxed meal with waitress service, this is not the place for you. You can tip either when paying or by putting it in the tip jar at the bar.

The Pad thai was too sweet!! And I ordered it SPICY!! I even told the lady make it THAI STANDARDS SPICY! Not White people kind of spicy!! and it still tasted Sweet!! Sorry but their Pad Thai gets a 👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽 from me..

Ordering at the counter and then being asked for a tip at the payment terminal!!! Absolutely unacceptable. We're not in the USA with its corrupted tipping culture. Pay your employees properly and save yourself the nonsense of being forced to tip.

Thai restaurant. The food is okay, but the service is bad.

I love Thai red curry and enjoy eating it. Unfortunately, I can only give it two stars. The red Thai curry at Kaimug is prepared with lots of pineapple, bamboo shoots, sauce, and chicken strips. Everything else that normally appears in this classic Thai dish is unfortunately missing. I realize that Thai basil, Thai eggplant, and snow peas are expensive, so in our latitudes, you usually find local substitutes in Thai red curry—but pineapple?

After ordering your food through self-service, you'll be given a buzzer. There's a variety of menu items, but the Pad Thai is a fusion dish. The sauce tastes different from my usual Pad Thai. It's fine for a light meal.

My curry was definitely not good today. Or was it the ginger iced tea? It tasted spicier than usual, and the chicken wasn't rubbery at all, the tofu wasn't fried. I didn't even finish half of the dish. Iced tea only tastes spicy with ginger, otherwise nothing, a little in a glass with a lot of ice. Afterward, I walked down Sendlinger Straße. After the second shop, sweating, stomach aches, etc., I just made it to the department store restroom. It continued unpleasantly at home. I haven't had that after a meal in a long time. Had the same dish a few days ago at a different store and no complaints.

Food was amazing. Portion was good. The have nice variety of options for vegetarians and non vegetarians. The price per dish varies from 11 to 16 EUR

Lovely food at very reasonable prices. The staff were very friendly. We really enjoyed our visit after a day of touring Munich.

Two of us were just there, ordered, and paid. After a long wait and after the other guests who arrived after us were served, we left without eating and didn't ask for a refund… wouldn't recommend it.

Today at Kaimug, I ordered Padthai with chicken instead of tofu. It cost €14.80 with a surcharge. The service was lackluster, and the food was just as good. Unfortunately, the taste was terrible. Go back to your home country, Thailand, to learn how to make good Padthai. Six pieces of chicken with minimal noodles and no flavor aren't worth €14.80.

A very small, fine Thai restaurant with super friendly staff and delicious food. Highly recommended. We'll be back.

Update May 14, 2025 Visiting the city again. I went to the restaurant for lunch today. It was, of course, busy, but I still managed to get a good table in the sun. And I have to say, the food was, as always, delicious. It's quick and freshly prepared. Of course, it's also nicely presented. So, still five points for the food, ambiance, and service. Despite some of the bad reviews here, I headed out around lunchtime to grab a bite to eat. Unfortunately, since it was raining, I had to sit inside, even though I would have preferred to sit outside. It's cozy inside... The staff was friendly and the food came quite quickly... and the portion was perfectly adequate. There was a lot of meat in my chicken with cashews... the vegetables were very fresh and crunchy... as were the nuts... and it came with a white wine. It's definitely worth a visit for the taste. Enjoy!

It looks pretty good, but it just tastes like Maggi has nothing to do with Thai in my opinion. You order yourself via the app, totally impersonal... and some ghost who doesn't say hello goes around and clears the tables. Disappointment for the taste buds.

Als ich kam war das Lokal voll. Ich kriegte aber schnell einen Platz. Ich bekam die SPeisekarte bestellen und bezahlen musste ich an der Bar. Ich bestellte Tom yung gai Suppe. Ich fragte ob ich sie als Vorspeise und anschliessend das Phad Thai mit >Tofu bekommen könnte. Die Bedienung beantwortete mit ja. Das Phad Thai kam als ich die Suppe zur hälfte gegessen habe. Offensichtlich muss man hier wenn man 2 Gänge nach einander will nochmals zur Kasse bestellen und bezahlen. Auch wusste die Kassierin nicht den unterschied zwischen Tom Kha Gai Suppe und der TOm YUm gai Suppe. Ich schmeckte keinen grossen Unterschied. Zum Dessert bestellte ich Kokosbällchen. Auch die schmeckten gut. Bei den Getränke muss man Pfand bezahlen. Als Stammgäste könnte mich das Restaurant nicht gewinnen. Zu wenig gemütlich für ein Abendessen.

Siamo capitati in questo locale senza troppe aspettative e un po’ titubanti. Tuttavia siamo rimasti sorpresi dai piatti che certamente non erano nulla di speciale ma molto buoni, e anche le bevande fatte da loro erano veramente buone. Personale cortese e a disposizione nonostante la barriera linguistica. L’unica nota negativa è data dal fatto che, essendo in inverno, entrava molto freddo ogni volta che la porta veniva aperta essendo anche il locale molto piccolo.

Simple eatery with excellent meals. When you enter, order at the cash register, sit down and your food will be brought to you. Excellent quality, good taste. Not special, but with a very good price/quality ratio. Green curry with €11.90. Day 2: very tasty and authentic Pad Krapao (€13.90) and soup of the day Tom Yum Gai (€7.90)

The two of me and my girlfriend went to your restaurant to have a bite to eat. She ordered pho and I just wanted spring rolls. After waiting 20 minutes and asking several times, I was always told that the food would be coming soon. When the food wasn't served after another 5 minutes, I asked for my money back, which was processed without any problems. Nevertheless, I will not eat in your restaurant in the future, as there are obviously difficulties in processing even simple orders in a timely manner. Unfortunately that was disappointing for a fast food restaurant.

Unfortunately there are severe communication problems. The starter came with the main course, although you ordered spring rolls with chicken, only ones without chicken came. It was changed to the real spring rolls, unfortunately the vegetables were extremely small, crocheted and there was very little in a thick dough club. Then you can't make out the chicken meat. The duck breast was very small and very thin, not even 1 cm thick at the thickest part. The restaurant is very drafty, very cold and very loud, so there is no ambience, even with the hard stools and benches. Many of the toilets were broken and the faucet also constantly ran with an extremely strong jet. Also no towels available. When I reported it to the counter, I had the feeling that they had had the problem for a long time. Too bad🫣

I ordered a red Thai curry with chicken and it was horrible - I had a stomach ache and nausea shortly afterwards. The chicken didn't look like real chicken. Unfortunately not recommended at all, it's a shame!

Very good Thai place! The service is fast and friendly, and they even gave me free extra sauce when I asked because it was so good. We stopped by after shopping on Sendlinger Straße, and it turned out to be a great visit. The food was delicious with generous portions, and the place is nicely decorated. However, it can get a bit loud, so I wouldn’t call it ideal for a date. But if you’re hungry and in the area, I definitely recommend it 😋

Thai restaurant with delicious food and drinks ambience is ok

If there is an empty seat, you can sit down (the locals had a basic atmosphere of sharing seats), and you can order on your own! I had pad thai and pad krao and both were delicious!!!

Two of us ordered Pad Thai and Pad Kapao. In Europe, I only ate greasy food, but when I ate spicy food, it felt like the old stasis was going away??^^ It was a very satisfying meal!! At first I felt like it wasn't a lot, but as I ate it I felt full.

The ginger peppermint tea was delicious. The mango coconut curry was delicious. The mango lassi was super tasty. Unfortunately, the mango sticky rice dessert was rather disappointing. That's better. Pleasant restaurant, nice staff and okay prices, although I wouldn't have minded a slightly larger portion.

I tasted their Pad thai, had a slightly bitter taste. So, I did not like it. Sorry to compare like this, but there is another restaurant in the area call Yum thai kitchen & bar which has far better tasing food, for 30% higher prices.

Solid food, super busy and multiple misunderstandings with the staff, other people waiting for a table, etc.

Rice was as mushy as the vegetables, food smelled and the portion was (fortunately) small. As an Asian, how can you even mess up the rice? Cheap, but far too expensive for what is offered. Food that makes you angry. An absolute disgrace.

The food just tasted ok, it wasn't anything special. But the portions were quite nicely prepared. In order to serve a meat dish without meat, an additional charge is required, which I personally found very expensive and unfair. Unfortunately, the homemade iced tea really didn't taste that good. The service is not exactly warm, but it is courteous and very quick. The ambience is nice, but the chairs (stools) wobble and are uncomfortable. Our dog was allowed into the restaurant, which was a plus!

Don't forget that you're in a fast food restaurant. The food is ok, the prices are no more. Inflation... personnel, electricity costs, etc. It is clear that everything became a little more expensive, but for e.g. B. Pad Thai 11.90 (that would be ok) + chicken another 2.90 or duck 3.90 € is starting to be cheeky... plus a Vio plastic bottled water 0.5 for 3.5€ (glasses were just out... also too expensive. All in all… Way too expensive for a lunch menu. Too bad

Unfortunately this is the second time I've been very disappointed with the food. Food wasn't hot, took 2 minutes. There was a piece of meat in my veggie curry... Sauce was just spicy, salty and tasted like nothing else. And just expensive! Very unfortunate. I enjoyed coming here a few years ago.

I had such high hopes for this place 🥲 the atmosphere is great and the menu prices are good but the food was not special. I ordered the Pad Thai and it was alriiiight, but my partner ordered the coconut mango curry and it was just not it. Might give the place another shot in the future because it might have been a bad day.

Not suitable for vegans! Food would generally have been quite good. However, I had a vegan dish with tofu and almost finished it when I suddenly tasted a completely different taste. I had small pieces of baked duck in my vegan meal. This is an absolute no-go! I showed the leftover piece to the staff and they said it was definitely just tofu. But the consistency is completely different and the smell of the piece was clearly that of duck, and my companion also confirmed this. They apologized, but since this really shouldn't happen under any circumstances, it was important to me to write another review here.

Thanks for the delicious food It was prepared quite quickly and the quality was good. We had green curry with chicken, the starter platter and sticky rice for dessert. Friendly service and very accommodating. The food also had the necessary spiciness without being over the top.

Our order was accepted very friendly at the checkout and we only had to wait about 5 minutes until the food was brought to the table. Both the vegetarian spring rolls as well as the sweet and sour vegetables and the panaeng curry tasted very good and authentic. Good value for money. The only small point of criticism: it quickly gets very hot outside because there are unfortunately no parasols.

Because it is just so serious, I feel like the following should be public and transparent. The Kaimug showed serious hygiene deficiencies at the beginning of 2023. I don't know whether conditions will be better in 2024, but as a consumer it would be important for me to know the following. From an article in Süddeutsche, February 2024 with the headline “Mouse excrement and mold in Thai restaurant”: "According to the food inspection officer's report, the conditions were such that it would have turned the coconut shrimps in the guests' stomachs: In the dining room, the floor behind the counter was "contaminated with mouse droppings and other indefinable residues." There were drink bottles in a box right next to it There was a risk of mouse droppings and mouse urine being picked up by consumers when pouring drinks into glasses. Mouse droppings were also found in the cupboard and the saucers inside. The list of grievances stretches across six pages During the inspection in February 2023, the officer also noted "dark, mold-like and yellowish deposits" inside the ice cube machine, as well as moldy deposits in the beverage refrigerated counter, where there was also an inadequately covered tea in a carafe. Cutting boards with "black and brownish residue", mold on the fan grille, deposits on the dishwasher and refrigerator, dirty door handle on the staff toilet - and mouse droppings everywhere. The list in the public prosecutor's penalty order runs over six pages."

After too many night eating bratwurst, we decided to try Thai, since it was close to the hotel. Service was friendly and we didn’t have to wait too long to eat. The menu had good offerings from curry to stir fry to noodles. We chose the red chicken curry and the Penang chicken curry. Both were flavourful and just what we needed.
