Quiche-Haus - Salon L'écritoire in Berlin

What can I say? Embarrassing. Owner was all nice and approachable when it came to preparing the event, I even gave him some tips on how to promote the event on Instagram. We played two sets of jazz, four professional jazz musicians, and at the end he charged us for drinks which he’d offered us at the beginning without saying he’d charge us for them, an extortionate amount for GEMA and almost half of the paltry amount that was left to pay the musicians. He was also blaming us for the lack of people despite the considerable promotion I’d done for the gig, and appeared not ready to pay us a dime. All I can say is, he might appear fair at the start but I was just a customer in his eyes at the end of event and I find that grossly disrespectful. I would advise artists to not play there.

We played a concert in this venue for the whole night, two sets with 4 professional jazz musicians. In the end although it was half full in the end we were supposed to pay the drinks (2 small glasses of wine each for the stay of 4 hours) and the guy at the bar did suddenly forget all we agreed on before and we were basically playing almost for free. I completely understand that in post COVID times it is sometimes hard to host culture locations and I fully understand this! But to treat people like this is an absolute no-go in my opinion. It makes me sad, the venue has so much potential and charme and the memory of the nice concert is basically destroyed for me with this kind of treatment. We WON´T come back!

Dear Ms. Lula Toscana, the owner of the salon, Vincent, unfortunately did not cancel the concert! I was there to greet him and ask him personally when an appearance with the Malinka Band at L'écritoire would still be possible. He introduced me to Martin Cruz and told him that he should decide for himself whether he wanted to perform with his colleague. His suggestion was to play even thirty minutes. If that's the case, we'd be happy to play with my band, but not for long... and we know that the salon, as a small event space, won't be able to support the musicians financially. But we, yes, are happy to support L'écritoire! LG v

I've had several really nice evenings here :) The food is incredibly delicious (especially the quiches are recommended!), the atmosphere is super nice and cozy and the concerts always offer something new. An insider tip in Berlin for those interested in culture!

I need to be really honest with this review. I can not tell about the food, because I didn't eat there. The ambient is nice and cozy. The problem was the owner. He was impolite with the musicians and the customers. We went there to attend a concert, we were a few customers in the local. Since the very beginning, the owner had a bad attitude. He canceled the concert because there were not many people. And complained to the customers because not all the people who were mentioned in the reservation went. After his initial attitude, I decided not to order anything, even though I was really hungry. There is no place to treat customers and musicians in such a way. I won't never ever go back there.

Wonderful place with a very special atmosphere!! Loving decor, great musicians from all over the world and the quiche is fantastic. I always love coming back there!

Enjoyed a lovely concert having great french food alongside it. The livingroom atmosphere made us feel home the second we entered the etablisement. The owner took his time to walk us through the evenings schedule and was very caring.

Amazing food, amazing atmosphere!!!

My husband and I had a delightful experience at Salon L'écritoire largely due to the personal touch of the owner. Not only does he manage the venue, but he also prepares the food from scratch, ensuring freshness and quality. We had a banana milkshake that had a hint of Mandelsirup, a savory quiche, and a hearty minestrone soup. Each dish was not only delicious but also had a light, fresh, and health-conscious appeal. A pianist was playing beautifully when we arrived, and coupled with the nostalgic vintage décor, it all came together to provide a truly memorable atmosphere. Not to mention, the prices are reasonable! Merci beaucoup and Vielen Dank, Vincent!

Celebrating slow food. Very nice personal service. A small menu but everything is freshly prepared on site. A warm recommendation and a big thank you to the owner for the wonderful time.

We listened to a very nice piano concert. Loved the cozy atmosphere there. And you can even have some amazing food and talking afterwards :)

I was there for the first time today after reading about the Quiche House in the Weddingweiser a while ago. It was a great service with very individual service. The quiche (broccoli and sheep's cheese) and the fresh salad plus tabbouleh were very tasty! Thank you 😁

By far the best quiche I've ever eaten. Including those on vacation in France. There was also a fantastic pumpkin soup and a refreshing salad with quinoa and pine nuts. Everything is beautifully and appetizingly prepared. The restaurant is also really nice and the owner was extremely friendly. I would visit again at any time as soon as I am back in Berlin!

L'écritoire is being run by Vincent, a French guy, who brings a special kind of amagalm together. From the love of ancient Greek philosophy, to French literature, paintings, and chamber concerts from established berliner musicians.
