You feel like you're in a palace. Given the pleasant ambiance, you might think the food here wouldn't be that great. However, the food here is even better. Some are better than others, but the service could be improved.

Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the service. Even though it wasn't busy, it took a very long time for our food to be brought to our table. At that point, a dish was missing, and it hadn't been brought to our table for 30 minutes (and would have been forgotten if we hadn't asked). We then said we'd like to take our leftovers with us, but they were never brought to our table. After waiting 20 minutes, we were fed up and left. Unfortunately, we won't be coming back anytime soon.

We're really disappointed. We've been there twice already, and both times it was just terrible. It takes forever to get served (first you're ignored, and then when you ask if you can finally order, you get snapped at). The staff and owners are unfriendly, the food is nothing special, and both times I felt very sick after eating. We certainly won't be going back.

Great place! I always enjoy coming here and have become a regular. If you want to experience authentic Indian cuisine, the Punjab Restaurant is the place for you. The spices and flavors are perfectly balanced. The service and ambiance are also excellent – ​​you feel completely at home here.

First of all, the food here is truly amazing and delicious. The ambiance is very nice. We've been here several times, and it's always been very good. However, in the last few months/years, the service has declined significantly. The service last time, however, surpassed everything. The owner/waitress was unfriendly, slow, inefficient, and forgetful. We were the first to enter the restaurant and received our menus quickly. From then on, things went downhill. It took 45 minutes to order our food. In the meantime, other guests arrived who had placed their orders before us. At that time, another server started serving. Then there was another hour wait for the appetizer and another 45 minutes for the main course. A main course and a side dish were forgotten. 15 minutes after complaining, the forgotten dish arrived. When the rice ran out and we ordered more, another 15 minutes wait followed. After another question about the rice, we were told that it had also been forgotten. We've been in the restaurant for almost three hours now and haven't seen dessert yet. Even before dessert arrived, our patience ran out, and we asked for the bill. Dessert arrived, and we asked for the bill twice more. After another 15 minutes, we finally went up to the bar and paid there. After three hours and 25 minutes, we finally left the restaurant. During the entire time, the restaurant was only half full. Overall, the food was fabulous, but the service overstretched our patience and more than spoiled our appetite. We'll order next time, but we'll think carefully about whether we want to continue supporting the restaurant. In any case, it's clear that a visit to the restaurant is no longer recommended.

After waiting for more than an hour, we were finally served by a nonchalant women : no smile, not even a word. That's totally unprofessional. The order was wrong : we order 4 naans and they gave us one only, a burnt one, and the chicken was not good. I do not recommend, you can surely find a better indian place to eat

Update August 15, 2025 to your response: Dear Punjab Team, Thank you for your feedback – however, I unfortunately cannot understand your response. I was not a guest at your restaurant with a group or team, but only with my wife, her friend, and two small children. I also mentioned this in my review from August 10, 2025. Apparently, it wasn't read correctly. At the time mentioned, there was no group in your premises. And there was no church service in progress at that time. There were guests being served both inside and outside. You seem to want to relocate this incident to a different situation. We were with you on Sunday, August 10, 2025, around 8:15 p.m. And again, there were only three adults and two small children. Best regards I am only evaluating the lady's behavior here – not the food. Unfortunately, her rude and arrogant demeanor completely put us off eating. We were on a stopover in Karlsruhe today and searched for a restaurant on Google. We came across several results, including Punjab. Since we're from the Punjab region ourselves, we were very excited and decided to go there. When we arrived, a few people were already seated on the right side of the restaurant, but there were still plenty of free tables – especially in the slightly raised area. The waitress didn't even greet us – no "hello," no smile, just a quick glance and a curt "How many?" I replied, "Three adults, two children." Then she, very briskly, said, "Sit here with me." I was a bit surprised, because the tables to the left of the entrance were neither clean nor did the lights turn on. After a short wait, as she was busy, I politely asked if we could sit on the right instead. Her response: "Now sit where I tell you!" Wow—I was lost for words. I left immediately with my family and we ate somewhere else. Just to clarify: We didn't eat there, so I'm only rating the service here. Unfortunately, I have to give this one one star to post it.

Unfortunately, my visit was disappointing. The wait for the food was very long, and when it was finally served, it was without any friendliness or smile. The service seemed unmotivated and unattentive, which spoiled the overall experience. For me, a warm demeanor and respectful service are essential to a successful restaurant visit – unfortunately, both were lacking here.

The food was always excellent, but today we had a very unfriendly encounter with the lady who served us. She was very unfriendly, quite aggressive, and, by her own admission, stressed. But that's no reason to be so rude to your guests. Even though the food is, as I mentioned, really good, that was the last time I'll be there.

The BEST Indian in Baden-Württemberg. The service at Punjab is very attentive. You can tell from the smell and taste that the food is always freshly prepared, and it's even good value for money. The Chicken Jalfrezi is a poem!

We had to wait a very long time for the waitress (or the restaurant manager) to take our order, but she simply didn't come and instead served guests who arrived much later. When we wanted to leave, she simply asked, 'Didn't you want to eat?' We said yes, but we couldn't stand the wait any longer. She simply said, 'Then go away.' The behavior was truly disappointing, and the way it was handled was even worse than the actual problem.

We eat here regularly and are always impressed by the consistently excellent quality of the food. We particularly enjoy the Chicken Sahi Korma and Butter Chicken. The service is also super friendly and accommodating. We always enjoy coming back.

I've been eating here regularly ever since I moved to Karlsruhe. The staff is always friendly, and the food is always fresh and delicious. Plus, in the summer, it's a lovely place to sit outside under the trees. I definitely recommend it.

The atmosphere was also nice and cozy. Only the service could have been a little friendlier and more attentive.

We had a very nice lunch experience. I asked for an item which was not on the menu, and the host said they could make it for me, no problem. I also requested that it be extremely spicy, as that's how I enjoy it. The food was delicious, and it met my expectations for it's level of spiciness. In my experience, it is very rare that restaurants go far enough with the heat. I was very pleased. I will go back.

Got a take out and the food was soaked in oil. It was unbelievable how much oil they had put in one portion of meal. This restaurant is not even remotely authentic or healthy. The quality of the meat was questionable as well

Wir waren an einem Samstag zum Mittagessen dort. Jeder von uns hat ein anderes Gericht bestellt und uns hat es allen sehr gut geschmeckt! Die Preise waren angemessen. Besonders hat uns das gesamte Ambiente gefallen und die gepflegte Tischkultur mit weißen Stofftischtüchern und ebensolchen Sevietten.

I tried in minimum 12 restaurants in Germany. No one touches the ambience and taste in food of Punjab. The details in the food and the caretaking of the staff is wonderful. Best Indian restaurant not only in Karlsruhe but in Germany!!!

Punjab is by far the best Indian restaurant in the area! I've been coming here for years and every time I'm amazed by the quality of the food and the service. The dishes are authentic and fresh - the chicken mango curry in particular is an absolute highlight. The team is always friendly and attentive. Absolute recommendation!

The stiff atmosphere in the restaurant didn't contribute much to the mediocre enjoyment of the meal, but the worst thing was the unfriendly service, a person who was simply an unpleasant person by nature, so to speak.

The best Indian in BADEN WÜRTTEMBERG. I have already been to Heidelberg, Karlsruhe, Freiburg and Munich (Bavaria). Nobody comes to the level of Punjab.

Had a nice experience which was soured towards the end by the rude behavior of the management of the restaurant. We had ordered 2 dishes which were served with rice but we had 1 portion and a little bit of the other portion of rice left over along with some biryani left over, which we asked for, to be packed to takeaway. While they packed the biryani, they refused to do so for the plain rice, saying they did not give the plain rice, as the vegetables served with them were over. On asking them why, as it was already served to us and included in our order, their responses were pretty rude and condescending. Made us wonder why when they could pack the leftover, biryani could not do the same for the plain rice. Is it reused somehow???

Food was average. But, the attitude of the staff was pathetic. We had got servings of rice & we had some leftovers, so we asked to pack it. They packed the leftover biryani, but they just refused to give us the rice, telling they are not allowed to do that in "Karlsruhe". Traveling and staying in Europe for the last 11 years, we never had such an experience. So, the question is what exactly they do with our rice? Trying to reuse it ? 🤔 Would you really prefer to go to such a place?

I eat here regularly and I can only say it tastes very good. The food is healthy and the portions are perfect for me. The mango lassi is super delicious and the Kashmiri tea is simply delicious. Aloo gohbi Masala, Aloo Chana Masala, Tarka Daal, Chicken & Lamb Sabji, Chicken and Lamb Jalfrazi, Tandoori Bharta, Green Naan and Firni . These are all great dishes and everyone should have eaten something here at least once if possible. The owners are very nice to me and as often as I come here they have accompanied me on part of my life's journey. I am very grateful for every single meal. ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️

The bald waiter was very unhappy that we showed up to eat at 2.12pm when the restaurant actually closes for lunch at 2.30. Nevermind that someone was already sitting and eating and we offered to be quick or even carryout. Who knows what the food was like. They get 2 stars for the location

We were there with a larger group. The food was very tasty. Vegetarians were also very satisfied. Individual orders were mixed up. But the solution was straightforward. I was enthusiastic about the Indian wine. Highly recommended.
