We eat there regularly and have always been satisfied. Good service and the price-performance ratio is also good.

Very good Greek restaurant, the food is delicious, the service is very pleasant and attentive. The Proto is also in an idyllic location on Lake Hengstey. So you can combine eating in Proto with a walk before or after.

Located right on the water, the surroundings are very beautiful.

Very good food and great service

We had a great evening with good food and good drinks. The team managed to ensure that orders arrived quickly, even though the store was full. And even though we are a large group, we all got our orders at the same time. Everything was good, there were even great tips about food. I will come again and take a look at the surroundings too. In the summer you should be able to sit outside, I'll definitely test that.☺️

We stopped there today during our canoe tour. Nice beer garden, with a direct view of the lake. The service was very friendly and we really didn't have to wait long for the food. For the location and the really delicious food, the price was really great Gladly again on the next tour! There is also space to park the boats near the pier.

Vegetarian food is virtually non-existent, so a double starter. Unfortunately not so tasteful. Excellent service!

Unfortunately it is not possible to understand where the reviews come from! For food: Absolutely no go! Had nothing in common with Greek cuisine! Tzaziki from buckets, that's what it tasted like, actually everything had hardly any taste! Olive oil can hardly be recognized! Dessert: Confirmed! We visited this fast food restaurant based on a recommendation, but we had never had such poor quality food before.

The atmosphere outside on the terrace is fantastic. We have been coming here to eat with our family for years and every time we get a holiday feeling. The food is good and the service is friendly.

The location is really great with the view over the lake. It was a bit awkward with the waiter, but a younger colleague was able to alleviate that somewhat with his courteous manner and attentiveness. Food very 😋 and prices reasonable. We'd love to come back.

Food okay, what a dirty shop with dirty staff.

Not only did we enjoy the food, but we also noticed that the meat was well marinated and that the chef knew his craft.

We went there for the first time on a Sunday evening without prior reservation and still got a seat straight away. It was very busy outside and the staff were really busy. However, we didn't have to wait long for our food. The two-person griddle is huge; We didn't finish everything and were able to take the rest with us. Everything was very tasty, especially the gyros and bifteki were very seasoned, but the tzatziki was also delicious. You can put together the salad yourself at the salad buffet, which we think is very good. The staff was friendly despite the hustle and bustle. The price-performance ratio is very good. We would recommend the restaurant.

The lamb chops were good, unfortunately the fries didn't taste good at all and the mayonnaise was only brought after the second request. And then in small plastic bags, which I find neither appetizing nor good for the environment. I think that doesn't match the prices and is more like a chip shop style.

Very crowded. I go to Greece every year and all the waiters are friendlier. If you want to invite your girlfriend, go somewhere else, the atmosphere is like McDonald's. Super crowded and very loud...

Die Lage des Restaurants ist traumhaft, wie man die tolle Atmosphäre und Potential so verschwenden kann ist mir unverständlich. Das Gyros im Pfänchen war in Soße ertränkt. Die Grullplatte war von der Größe sehr ordentlich. Nur das Souvlaki war super trocken, das Gyros labbrig und wirkte eher wie Schweinegeschnetzeltes und in der Pfanne zu kurz angebraten. Das Schweinesteak war ganz gut. Das Bifteki komisch gewürzt und nur der Hunger hat es reingetrieben. Hier folgt eine persönliche Theorie die nur Vermutungen sind: Wahrscheinlich ist alles von Souvlaki bis Gyros fertige Tiefkühlkost und nur aufgewärmt. Die Kellner sind ein Thema für sich. Mir wurde gesagt ich müsste den Spieß als erstes essen sonst wäre es ja klar das es trocken wird. 1. habe ich war schon trocken. 2. hat man wirklich noch weiter Lust mit Kellnern zu reden wenn sie solch unprofessionellen Nonsens von sich gibt? Gibt bessere Griechen, spart euch das Geld und geht woanders hin wo es schmeckt und wirklich frische gute Produkte verwendet werden.

Only had something to drink, so I can't comment on the food. There is freshly tapped Mythos beer, so I would go there again for that reason alone.

Well-attended Greek at Hengsteysee Herdecke. The question is how long cars will be allowed to park in front of the restaurant. What will happen to the railway bridge has not yet been clarified. But as long as it stays that way, it's a good place for a relaxed garden meal or indoor dining. Price wise it's ok too.

Beautiful place to eat on the water. It was very busy so we had to wait a long time for our food. We were disappointed with the main course...however, the tzatziki and bruchette were super delicious

You sit outside with a view of the lake. The restaurant is almost always busy, but the staff is well organized and has a great time. Food is typical Greek and above average. We'd love to come back. Parking is easy, but you may have to walk a bit.

Souvlaki war Schuhsohle,ging zurück. Man bot an es neu zu machen, mit den Worten es wäre immer so das Fleisch. Wollte nicht nochmal ein zähes Fleisch! Was neues aussuchen bot man nicht an. Bezahlen durften wir es trotzdem. Keine Endschuldigung. Der Kellner meinte , ich bin nur Angestellter!! Es war nicht einmal ein Stück Gurke oder Tomate als kleine Deko auf dem Teller! Sehr lieblos!! Das war ein Besuch im Schiffswinkel das erste und letzte mal. Da sind andere Griechen vom Service her tausendmal besser!!

Unfortunately very disappointing. Ordered souflaki and received pork fillet. When asked, there was only a flippant answer. Fries rock hard. Overall inedible. Waiting time for two dishes was underground, over an hour!!! Were placed to the left of the entrance and what can you say, dusty, full of cobwebs, rarely if ever a rag was seen. It's a shame you could do more with the beautiful location on the lake, hence three stars for the ambience.

Very good and nice atmosphere by the water..

I went there for the first time on a Friday evening in June. I was surprised that it was so full and that we were able to get one of the last seats outside. Despite the number of guests, we got our drinks quickly. We had to wait a long time for the food we ordered. But also understandable given the mass of people. The waitresses did a tough job and had to deal with an immense amount of walking. What I found positive was that when we asked where our food was, it would come soon. They also apologized accordingly due to the high demand for one of the dishes, which probably couldn't be provided so quickly. My personal conclusion is not to go there on a weekend when the weather is nice because you have to wait a little long for your food. But the catering there is top and a great team with a good price-performance ratio.😄🙋🏻☀️🌻

We liked it at Proto. Overall, the staff was friendly and accommodating. I had a potato and beef fillet with a mushroom sauce. My potato was a little too dry for me, but maybe I was just unlucky. My fillet was too raw for my standards, but I wasn't asked how I would like it beforehand. Ultimately, at my request, it was fried again and I was given a lot of extra sauce. :-) Ultimately, the food was good and the atmosphere, at least outside, was nice and quiet and close to the water.

Nice atmosphere, staff friendly and on the ball, food was great! The only thing we didn't like was the gyros. The seasoning reminded us both of this frozen pan gyro, but that's a matter of taste, the rest was great and we will definitely come back!

Nicely located, right on the water with a large beer garden. Even though it was very full, we were given a place for three people without a reservation. Service was quite quick despite the store being full. The prices were okay. The food is worth highlighting. The meat, whether chicken breast, grilled plate or minced meat, was extremely well seasoned and grilled to perfection. The taste of the food stands out from other Greeks. The minced meat is fluffy and juicy, the chicken has a hearty grilled taste. Can be further recommended.

The food was ok, but nothing more. The meat was just dry throughout. Price/performance ratio is simply not right. Tsaziki must always be ordered with it (except for gyros) and there is no welcome or final ouzo. But you could expect that given the prices. So it's more like the lower average.

Gyros tasted like it was made with cheap spices. The waiters who were here today are not the friendliest. In general, the food just didn't taste good, there is much better Greek cuisine

We had reserved for 5:00 p.m. and were assigned a table outside. The drinks were taken, it took 40 minutes for them to be brought. The order for food was not taken because the kitchen was currently overloaded due to the many guests. It took 45 minutes for the food to be ordered and another 50 minutes for it to be served. When asked in the meantime, the waiter reacted annoyed and unfriendly. Many guests felt the same way as us.

Here you have to have time and patience, ~2 hours until everyone has had their ordered food. At some point the dishes arrived incomplete and with a long delay; the last dish arrived when the first ones were already ready. The food itself wasn't convincing either, among other things because we had already lost our appetite and the meat and fries were lukewarm and... Never again!

We were there spontaneously in the evening. Great restaurant, very nice and fast service. Main course came within 20 minutes, super fast. We both enjoyed it excellently. We'd love to come back!

We were welcomed very nicely and after a short wait we got our table. Since we didn't like the table, we got a new table after a short wait. Very uncomplicated. The ambience was actually very nice, what we didn't like was that it was very loud because all the seats were occupied. We got the food after a short wait. My wife had the fish platter, highly recommended. Just like the grill plate.
