Primecut in Gießen

We ate FRENCH MIGNON this evening. Very tender and tasty beef fillet. Cool steakhouse.

We (4 boys aged 16-18) were at the Primecut restaurant about 2 weeks ago. First of all...the food and ambience were great in contrast to the service! It was underground, so to speak. We were made to wait for an extremely long time and guests who came later than us were given priority in terms of service, etc. Probably 4 very young men without a Porsche or something similar don't look like they need to be served in the same way as other clientele with, for example, the above-mentioned vehicle equipment or outfit . It's a shame that this very poor behavior from the restaurant is completely in contrast to the good quality of the food and ambience! Of course, we couldn't keep this to ourselves and we also reported it to our families. At school they would say “poor.” In the end, they were very happy to take our money (we had bills of over 50 to 80 euros per person). Something like that shouldn't actually happen!

Great food, great atmosphere, you can't say anything bad. Dessert is awesome

Had dinner here with my wife and we really enjoyed it. We both ate a burger that tasted very good, but I found the bun a bit dry, perhaps a bit more sauce, but the taste was very tasty. The service was courteous and friendly. Thank you for the lovely evening

Very large and well-kept American-style steakhouse. Friendly staff and good service. The drinks and food come just right, you don't have to wait too long but not everything is rushed either, so it's very good and you have a nice and cozy evening. The Nebraska Rib-Eye is great, perfectly done. The grilled skewers as a starter are tender as butter and come with a delicious BBQ sauce. The wine selection is good and suitable for every budget. We'd love to come back!

There are enough parking spaces at the restaurant despite the adjacent hotel. A reservation for a table is recommended. The service is quick and friendly. However, after the drinks and food have been served, you will no longer be noticed to place further drink or dessert orders. The burgers were fresh, the beef patty was juicy, well cooked and well topped with toppings and sauces. The French Fries were hot and crispy. Overall the food was delicious. The prices are more in the upper price segment.

We always enjoyed going to Prime Cut, but what happened on Saturday was no longer normal. Small “mistakes” can always happen. But here is a list of the things that really went wrong: - Waited 40 minutes until we ordered drinks - After 1 1/2 hours the food was served - wrong drinks were brought - Sauces were missing - our food came differently, so we couldn't eat together - the meat was cold - We couldn't reorder drinks because no one came to our table - It felt like 40C in the room - the portions were WAY too small, especially the Bolognese - and last but not least, we had to wait forever before we could pay

The service is a complete disgrace. We waited over 30 minutes for the bill. And waited over 30 minutes to even order. Since the competent employees were replaced with untrained staff, things have stopped working at all! Too bad

We've been here several times. It has worn off a bit but is still good. Unfortunately the potatoes were overcooked and mushy. All in all we will go again.

We were there on a Friday evening and the restaurant was busy, but not all tables were occupied, but we still had to stand at the reception for 5 minutes until a waiter accompanied us to our table. The menu was brought relatively quickly, but it took another 15 minutes for a service to arrive. At least the waitress apologized for the long wait. The food was average. I wanted to take half of my leftover burger home with me. After we paid, we noticed that no one brought us the food container. When I asked the waiter, he went into the kitchen and then came back and said that my food had been thrown away and he offered me 5 small packets of gummy bears as compensation. I cannot recommend this restaurant at all. With this price/performance ratio you will definitely find a more sensible alternative to eating out.

It's not cheap but as always it tasted very good. Steak was grilled to perfection as ordered and the service was excellent. A greeting from the kitchen was served and the salad with the herb mustard vinaigrette was very tasty. What I would complain about would be the wine selection. We had the lovely cuvee, but it was almost dry in taste. Nevertheless, we would like to come back.

Unfortunately not so good today. The Cola Zero that we ordered came as a normal cola, the two starters were relatively bland, the main course came before the starter dishes were cleared away (at one side table the salad came before the first drinks, at another side table the dishes had already been cleared away). one person out of two was still eating), the medium-well ordered Nebraska rump steak was cooked to perfection, but unfortunately it was hard and not that tender (to be honest, I have eaten much better rump steaks in normal restaurants than this Nebraska rump steak in a steakhouse ), and the filet mignon, which was also ordered medium-well, came medium-rare, and even after it came back after two (!) minutes, it was only medium at the cut and of course still medium-rare inside. Too bad. And more than disappointing given the price.

Since my last visit I have noticed that the price-performance ratio is no longer right. I can only give the ambience one star, it was very loud and the waitresses were very quiet that you couldn't understand them at all, it was a mess and a hectic atmosphere that made you feel anything but comfortable. The greeting from the kitchen was also missing. All in all, I won't be visiting Primcut again. At prices like these you would expect something different.

Wir hatten im Primecut online reserviert, hatten aber keine Bestätigung erhalten. Also mußten wir anfen, um u hörn, dass unsere Reservierung angekommen war. Fanden wir nich so gut. Als wir im Restaurant waren, durften wir uns setzen, wo wir wollten. Das war gut, denn an den Plätzen am Fenster war es recht dunkel, während die kleineren Tische in der Nähe des Eingangs etwas besser beleuchtet waren. Mein Mann bestellte ein 500g Primecut Steak von der dt. Faerse mit Cole Slaw, Mangosauce und gebackener Kartoffel. Das schmeckte gut, aber am Fleisch waren viele unessbare Stellen/Sehnen. Ich hatte die Short Rib mit grünen, gegrillten Pimentos de Padron, BBQ Sauce und Süsskartoffelkürbisstampf. Das war superlecker und sehr viel. Wir werden bald wieder hingehen, um weitere Gerichte zu probieren.

The service was today on October 2nd. A catastrophe. We were there at 6 p.m. on the occasion of a wedding anniversary. After ordering and the starter, we had to wait a long time for our main course. All guests who came after us received the main course before us and we were dismissed with the excuse: We hadn't informed us that things could continue. We've never had to do that there! When we cleared away the main course, we immediately said that we would like to pay. After 40 minutes of waiting, we were extremely angry because we were deliberately ignored. The waiter seemed extremely rushed that evening. We were not given a receipt for our order to see if everything was correct. We didn't get enough mayonnaise with the main course. So we paid too much. Unfortunately, the food has also deteriorated compared to before. The delicious Caesar dressing is no longer available and the garlic baguette has shrunk in half. Of course the prices have increased. All in all, not a nice wedding day. Too bad. Otherwise we were always satisfied.

The price-performance wasn't right. The ratatouille was far too little for the price, the burger was dry and the service seemed unprofessional when asked questions. Unfortunately, the pasta also tasted bland and uninspired. No good alternatives for vegetarians.

After a break of a few years, we've eaten here more often recently and we've been very satisfied the last few times. The steaks were cooked to perfection (medium rare), the waitresses are very friendly (even to children) and the restaurant is very clean!

Solid steaks at real prices. Unfortunately, various dishes from the menu are not available. After the salad that came with the main course was forgotten, we suggested serving a dessert instead. Unfortunately zero flexibility, no communication possible. The problem was discussed again in the presence of the managing director, but he continued to wipe the counter instead of taking care of us. Five stars to the waiter who escorted us out and apologized for the behavior of his colleague and the manager. Nevertheless, the first and last visit.

Apparently there is no greeting from the kitchen anymore, which I found very unfortunate at the beginning of my visit. The waiter seemed stressed and spoke very quietly, which made it difficult to understand him. Even after our hint, we had to ask after each sentence. One order came wrong and another came a good 5 minutes later than all the others. Since I didn't finish all of my food, I put everything on a plate and had it packed up. I only received the food when I asked if it was still coming. The next day I unfortunately discovered that all of the side dishes and sauce for my meat had simply not been packed.

The steaks there are simply great. Fried as desired and seasoned optimally. The service staff was friendly and accommodating, not intrusive but still trying to generate sales. You feel comfortable there.

The classic, a lot of drumming for little. You get full but spend too much for the experience. The ambience doesn't match the price of the food. The photos on the restaurant homepage do not resemble the food served. A steak knife was brought to me with white gloves, unfortunately it was as blunt as a painter's spatula. But the meat wasn't tender enough to melt on the steak spatula.

2024 Addendum: Got the driest fillet ever yesterday. The greeting from the kitchen is a joke (an olive with a cube of cheese, what's that supposed to mean?). The bread isn't even crispy, as if it were from the day before. It's all a bit loveless somehow. I won't go there again for a while. 2021 Steaks very good but also very expensive... waitresses very attentive and nice.

We were very disappointed. It was our second visit and we were looking forward to a nice evening with friends. We got a good table and then nothing happened for half an hour...no service, no drinks, we were just ignored!! The food came at some point and wasn't great like the last time, but just OK. After ordering, we waited a full 35 minutes for dessert. So it was a catastrophe when it came to service...It's a shame!

The two of us had dinner in this restaurant last night. The food itself was ok, but absolutely not worth the price. The service was a disaster. There were enough waiters, but they didn't even acknowledge you. I was able to order a second drink at some point if I asked, and I was also able to get a dessert menu. However, no one ever came again to take the order for the card that was brought to me. So we decided to pay without having accomplished anything and without eating dessert. We have THREE!!! Having to speak to the waiter to finally be able to pay after more than 20 minutes. The place was well attended, but far from full. We would definitely have had more drinks and eaten dessert, but they don't seem to value service here. We wouldn't eat here again!

Rarely has service been so bad.

Das Fleisch ist absolut gut, aber der Burger richtig hart, Service bescheiden: hier haste Dein Fleisch, aber belästige mich nicht weiter! Reichlich bescheiden! Kein weiterer Besuch geplant! Tut mir leid, aber eine bessere Bewertung hat Primecut nicht verdient!!!

We became aware of the restaurant because of the good reviews. The food was good, but we expected more based on the reviews. The meat was a bit dry and the fries weren't that many and were already relatively cold. There was an additional charge for ketchup and mayonnaise on top of the already high prices.

Yesterday evening I visited the Prime Cut in Giessen again after a long time. I chose the veal schnitzel with chanterelles in a cream sauce and sweet potato fries. When I got the schnitzel, I politely pointed out to the waitress that the schnitzel was extremely small. After she asked in the kitchen, she said: this is how they are delivered. So €30.90 for the 3 chanterelles in the stale sauce and this mini schnitzel is a complete disgrace. I wasn't even offered a solution. I openly communicated that if this is serious, I will never come back. Usually every restaurant offers at least a coffee on the house if the guest was not satisfied. In addition, the schnitzel was not tasty or appetizing at all. Any university cafeteria can do this better for €4. My colleague had a burger that he wasn't particularly impressed with either. All in all, I will never visit this store again and I will also strongly advise my circle of friends not to.

At normal prices this would be a good shop so it's okay

In the past we always enjoyed going to Primecut. On our last visit we unfortunately noticed that both the quality and the service had deteriorated. The rump steak we ordered was totally tough and our complaint was handled unprofessionally. That means: we were no longer taken into account and we had the impression that they wanted to get rid of us as quickly as possible. We would have expected that we would at least be given a replacement or a discount. A pity……

The waiters didn't care at all, all the dishes were still at the table until the end, so nothing was cleared away. Unfortunately, we couldn't drink coffee at the end because we couldn't order from a waiter. So everything in one meal was good but the service is forgettable.

Had a cowgirl cheeseburger. Meat wasn't that great. Hamburger but otherwise very tasty. Fries were very tasty. The ambience had a bit of a train station restaurant feel to it.

I've been here twice on business and have never been disappointed. Last time, June 27th, 2024, we were served by Ms. Eminova. She is very attentive and also gave us recommendations regarding the dressing (mango-passion fruit) for the side salad, which also suited my taste profile. The quality of the food is great, the atmosphere is very nice and cozy. Unfortunately I live far too far away but this is definitely a “my go-to restaurant” if you want steak. I will definitely try the other dishes on my next visit.

On June 15, 2024 around 8 p.m.: Dear restaurant owners, I would like to tell you about my recent visit to your restaurant, which was unfortunately a huge disappointment. Despite the high price of 100 euros for two menus, we received unacceptable service and cold, poorly prepared food. First, we had to wait about 15 minutes for anyone to even take our order, even though guests who came after us were served before us. When we were finally able to order, my wife ordered the small filet and I ordered the large "Grand Master" steak. However, to our surprise, we were served two pieces of the same size. The waitress was visibly irritated and the head waitress tried to explain this with different degrees of doneness, even though we both ordered medium rare. She was clearly trying to find larger corners on my steak to justify the size difference - a ridiculous situation. But that's not all: the food was served completely cold, so that not even the herb butter on the steak melted. I was also charged extra for the sour cream that normally comes with the baked potato menu. Overall, it was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. For a lot of money we received lousy service, cold food and the feeling of being taken for a ride. I really can't recommend this restaurant to anyone after this experience

The food was great. Next time a 250g steak will be enough. With baked potato and side salad it was quite powerful. Steak grilled to perfection. Service very attentive and friendly. The ambience could be improved by small partitions. It's like sitting in a large hall. But that's not so important. It's about the food. Of course it's not exactly cheap. But you know that beforehand. The quality is right.

Was with colleagues to eat something special! We were all disappointed! The only thing worth mentioning is the ambience.

Steaks were good. Unfortunately, the salad was a bit dry and the pop corn shrimp wasn't convincing. Restaurant is attractively decorated, service was good. It's more for when you've saved a lot than for every now and then.

I would like to say a few words about “Primecut casting”. We reserved a table for two people. For lunch, people are asked to use the seating area in front of the kitchen/grill. On that day, it was my impression that a temporary worker was responsible for the service. Before you go to the table you are asked to wait to be assigned a table (you think). This waiter didn't seem very professional. We had to do most of it ourselves. When we told him our request, we waited for his answer. The gentleman only spoke broken German and spoke so quietly that you couldn't understand a word. In any case, it was possible to clarify which table we were allowed to sit at. When we sat down without being offered the menu or taking a look after receiving it, we were asked if we knew what we wanted to drink. It left more of the impression that they wanted to process us as quickly as possible (in retrospect, this affects the entire stay). We ordered a starter/sidekick in advance (intended as a starter). In happy anticipation, I waited for the potato gratin I had ordered. When the waiter served this to me, I lost my faith. See image. They served me potato gratin on a coffee saucer. The price - EUR 6.80 - is absolutely unreasonable (!) The gratin was definitely not homemade. Conventional finished goods. You could tell it came straight out of the microwave. Accordingly, it tasted good (not). While I was taking away the plate, I spoke to the waiter (he was able to communicate better). When asked whether this portion size is always served, there was only a malicious smile, followed by a quiet “yes”. As if they knew exactly that they were charging guests 10 times the purchase value. Regardless of whether the gratin is intended as a sidekick or as an appetizer, the price is an absolute outrage. I was shown no understanding or accommodation. Really impossible. For the main course I ordered the “Gentlemans Cut” rump steak with French fries. With the baked potato (alternative), I could already imagine that the dish wouldn't live up to the name and would be "baked" in the oven. It was served. The plate couldn't have looked more desolate. Fries, garlic bread and the steak. Ordered was medium. Weight 250g. At a steakhouse, I expect the food to be served to perfection. Ordered medium, received medium well. It's a shame... The steak has a scrub marinade. The pepper comes out too strong. The taste of the meat is OK. The bread, apparently baked baguette, with a thin layer, barely noticeable. In the end, the waiter stood in front of me, fully expecting to get a tip. As if it were self-evident for this service/price/performance, just not! After this visit, not recommended.

Eigentlich sollte das ein gemütliches Geburtstagsessen werden. Es kam aber anders. Die Bedienung war frech bei Aufnahme der Bestellung. Dabei wurde das Essen falsch aufgenommen und das falsche Essen natürlich später in die Rechnung gestellt. Der Wein kam in einem dreckigen Glas 🤢 Die Sahne auf der Torte war dann, dass ca 2 Stunden nach dem Essen meine Tochter angefangen hat schwallartig zu erbrechen. Vielen Dank das tolle Erlebnis. Nie wieder. In den letzen zwei Jahren wurde die Qualität wie vom Personal so auch vom Essen immer schlechter.

We used to live in Giessen and knew Primecut as a really good steakhouse with really good service. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. We had the steak with asparagus offer, which was absolutely fair in price. Unfortunately the asparagus was totally salty and very woody. We told the waitress who apparently didn't know the term woody in connection with asparagus. There was another portion of asparagus on a separate plate, which was not salty but at least as woody. We told them again, but that was it. We had our asparagus and the newly delivered asparagus returned, but none came to the table as promised. We paid money for a product that was terribly bad and the house did nothing to fix it. The steak was good.

A few weeks ago my review was quite negative, mainly because of the poor service. I can revise this today. As was the case last time, the food was excellent and this time the service was in no way inferior to this impression. We received excellent, quick, attentive and friendly service. Thank you for that. We'd love to come back.

I am extremely disappointed, the quality of the food and the staff has deteriorated so much here. I can't give a recommendation. My favorite salad dressing "Caesar" has been taken out of the range, the baked potato tastes old with thick burnt skin and a mini dollop of sour cream. I told the waiter that there wasn't enough sour cream, I got a small mayo container with more sour cream which was charged extra. The fries were always my absolute favorite, even they were completely messed up, way too dark and full of old fat.

We had very tasty burgers & salad (Nebraska burgers). Very nice selection but not too big a menu. The service is very nice and accommodating. We felt very comfortable. Unfortunately, if you sit outside it is a bit noisy from the highway. Depending on the wind.

Ambiance itself is very nice. The staff seemed unmotivated and sometimes unfriendly. Portions quite small for the price. Long wait even though there wasn't much going on. According to the menu "original" Spaghetti Carbonara, I got overcooked pasta with an unseasoned cream sauce. Garlic bread was OK. I've had better burgers, but unfortunately they didn't taste that good either.

Wir waren hier Stammgäste und haben auch unsere Geschäftsessen dort verbracht. Wir waren immer mehr als zufrieden und die Qualität war einfach super. Doch die letzten Besuche zeigen, daß die Qualität und auch der Service einfach nicht mehr passen, bei den Preisen! Das Essen war die letzten Male überhaupt nicht gut und auch die Größe der Steaks hat nicht gepasst! Die Bedingung wurde angesprochen und das Essen reklamiert. Aber anstatt das es ausgetauscht wurde, bekamen wir den Teller wieder an den Tisch, mit der Aussage: das ist die richtige Größe, sie haben anscheinend keine Ahnung! Zum Schluss wurden Getränke und Essen doppelt berechnet, was wir zum Glück auf dem Beleg sehen konnten der uns aber erst auf Nachfrage gegeben wurde, da uns der Betrag seltsam vorkam! Es kam keinerlei entgegenkommen oder wenigstens eine Entscheidung für die Fehler und das schlechte Essen! Ich kann es nicht mehr empfehlen und wir waren sehr oft da! Die Bedingung und auch die Küche haben sehr stark nachgelassen! Da gibt es für die Preise einfach doch bessere Restaurants, wo man schöne Abende verbringen kann. Wir werden nicht mehr kommen!

Conditions very inattentive if you had drinks and food you were ignored. And the food burgers for the children were horribly inedible. After complaining we got a new one which unfortunately wasn't much better 👎🏻 dry no cucumber no tomato nothing except very thin dry patty and dry bun.

Today we had a baby with us, and dad wanted to change it in the women's toilet, where there was a special changing station, unfortunately the dad was asked to change the baby by a woman, as you can see No woman peeing here, there are also doors here, everything else was good as always, a little note, is there a changing station in the men's toilets?

Food is always great. And the service at the table is always great. But if you still have to wait 1 hour on site even though you have reserved. That's very disgraceful. You should then reconsider the automatic confirmation when making a reservation.

Food very tasty and very nice atmosphere

Friendly and very attentive service, even empty plates didn't have a chance to stay on the table for long. The food was delicious as expected, the sweet potatoes were nice and crispy sweet potato fries, the meat was tender and tasty, only the salad was a little too chilled. Overall really good and tasty. But what I'm wondering is: Why is a doneness level for the meat included when ordering if no one sticks to it? The only thing that took away was the quality of the meat, otherwise the ribeye would have gone back to the kitchen...

Unfortunately it's a bit outside of Giessen center but still easy to reach via the motorway! There's a hotel right opposite and there's no parking space neither does it!! The food was very tasty and the service was very quick! The ambience was designed according to American style and was very spacious!!

We ate there with 6 people and a child. The food was super delicious and of very good quality. The price-performance ratio is therefore appropriate. The service is very friendly and accommodating. However, a small point of criticism: we reordered drinks several times and therefore there were empty glasses and bottles on the table. But these were not cleared away when the new drinks were brought. We found this to be disturbing and not appropriate. Maybe you should reconsider. Otherwise, it's definitely a restaurant you should go to.

We made a reservation at 7:30 p.m. and then had to wait outside for an hour until we could get a table

We had made a reservation for Valentine's Day a long time ago, but were still faced with a 20 minute wait in line. The initial anticipation of a romantic evening was quickly marred by a disappointing experience. The waiters seemed listless and unattentive, which further worsened the mood. After we finally placed our order, an inexplicable amount of time passed where our food wasn't served. Only after 1 1/2 hours of waiting did we decide to ask where our order was, only to find that our food hadn't even been prepared yet. Given the lateness of the time, already 11 p.m., we decided with a heavy heart to cancel the meal. However, much to our dismay, we discovered that despite the disappointing experience and the lack of food, we were charged the full cost of our drinks, which was €7.80. This steakhouse experience was absolutely disappointing and frustrating. We were looking forward to a special evening, but it turned into a stressful and unpleasant experience. We will never visit this restaurant again.
