After a walk at Silbersee with our dog, we stopped at "Bauer Ewald." The dog was allowed, and the food was good. The schnitzel portion was too large for us, but the burger portion was just right!

Quite okay for lunch. Now that the coffee tours and animals are no longer there, things have quieted down at Prickings Hof.

The portions are far too large; everyone takes up to a third home. They're only there to generate revenue. The food is served very quickly, a mass-production affair. The schnitzels are probably already sitting in the kitchen, ready to be quickly reheated; fresh from the pan tastes different. The bill for eight people is placed on the table, and everyone has to figure out how much they have to pay. All in all, not good business practice; the main thing is to generate a lot of revenue in the shortest possible time.

Nice place. The food is very good and the portions are large. It's almost impossible to finish everything. But no problem, you can take the rest with you. The only downside is that the prices have risen considerably. €20 for a pork knuckle or a schnitzel is a bit expensive, even though it's delicious. The staff is very friendly.

No, I was there with small children at lunchtime. The small play park had a lot of broken equipment. 2 of the 3 car parks were broken, 1 of the 4 water features was broken, and the rest were hardly maintained. The tour of the courtyard didn't even start, and there was no information from the operator that it was closed. Not even online. That's why there's a star. Even the rose garden is closed. The star goes to the butcher's shop; there was still a lot to choose from. We didn't visit the restaurant again. It used to be splendid, but now, what a shame.

Well, we were here again. The atmosphere was exactly the same as last year; everything was functional, for quick service—I'd almost say it was more like a fast-food restaurant, but it wasn't too bad. Once again, and for a long time now, the service was friendly and efficient. The food came quickly, was plentiful, and tasted considerably better. The price went up another two euros; almost 60 euros for two schnitzels plus a soft drink is quite something. That's 20 euros more than in 2019, before the pandemic. We don't treat ourselves to that as often anymore; it's not possible. See you next time.

Der Prickingshof, einst das Ausflugsziel schlecht hin. Ob die Verkaufsfahrt mit dem Bus oder der Wochenendazsflug mit der Familie, es war einfach Klasse. Aktuell versucht man dort wieder etwas aufzubauen und das finde ich persönlich Klasse. Gut der Spielplatz ist in die Jahre gekommen, den Tierpark/ Wildgehege gibt es aktuell nicht ABER die Gastronomie. Grosse Portionen zu einem sehr guten Preis in Alt bekannten Ambiente , das hat echt was. Man kann bei schönem Wetter draußen sitzen , natürlich auch bei schlechtem, aber dann wird das Schnitzel nass😃😅 oder halt drin. Angeboten wird zünftigen Essen, Quantität mega, Qualität zwischen gut und befriedigend. Die Schnitzel sind super, bei den Beilagen kommt es drauf an. Bratkartoffeln und Pimmes oft zu fettig- einfach drauf hinweisen das bitte gut abgetropft wird. Der Burger den ich gewählt habe leider Note 4 bis 5. Neugierig gemacht hat mich das Patty vom Simmertaler Rind. Das war jedoch viel zu dröge und das Brötchen viel zu stark gebräunt die Pommes dazu waren echt gut. Dies teilte ich der sehr freundlichen Servicekraft auch so mit. Sie hat es zu Kennznis genommen und mich wissen lassen das die Küche leider unter ersetzt war. Aber nun gut im grossen und ganzen fanden wir es cool und haben im Anschluss noch etwas die angrenzende Fleischerei geplündert. Das Brot und die Frikadellen sehr gut.

I didn't like the zoo at all. The food and service were good. Unfortunately, most of it was closed. We couldn't visit any museums. 🫣 So the trip was a bit of a waste.

Unfortunately, the attraction is no longer there. Huge parking lots, but few guests in May. The farmer's bread roll was expensive at €3.70, and the fried potatoes served in the restaurant were riddled with charred bits. Farmer Ewald would turn in his grave!

My husband and I had the steak (300 grams) with pepper sauce and mushrooms and fries. We enjoyed it very much. The steak was medium rare as requested and very tender. The fries are nice and crispy. And the service was very friendly and funny. Price/performance was completely fine. We'd love to come back

Ich habe vor ca. 10 Jahren 3 x eine Busfahrt zum Prickingshof mit Freunden gemacht. Wir waren von allem sehr begeistert. Besonders die Wurstsorten und auch das Essen waren unschlagbar. Schade, dass diese Fahrten im meiner Region (Rheinland-Pfalz / Westerwald) nicht mehr angeboten werden.

After decades, today I was at the Prickingshof with my wife, brother and nephew. Years ago I was there very often with my parents as part of the so-called butter trips and yes, some things are still the same as they were back then. The play equipment and the slide were getting old but we still had fun! About the restaurant, we like it old, rustic and tidy so we felt comfortable. You can find the menu laminated on the table in front of you and the waitress was friendly and nice to us. The order was taken quickly and the food was brought out after a short wait. We had four schnitzels, three with fried potatoes and once with fries. The quantity is more than great and the quality is ok. In detail that means ok; The fries are much too greasy - please ask the kitchen to drain the fries well! Likewise the schnitzels, which weren't quite as greasy, but borderline. The hunter's sauce and fried potatoes were good. We will definitely be back and I would like to recommend it to anyone who wants to reminisce and like generous portions. And again the request to the kitchen, please drain the fried foods better! Then there is even more 🌟

Ich weiß nicht, was die negativen Bewertung sollen, möchte wissen, was die Leute so zu Hause essen! Meckern kann man immer leicht. Möglicherweise war früher alles ein bisschen besser intakt, aber auch dort wird man nach Corona kein leichtes Brot haben. Ich finde das Essen dort prima, macht das doch alle erst mal besser!

Very cozy, family atmosphere and the portions are often enough for a second meal at home. (Packaging material is always available). Today we went to the Prickingshof with the family. As a child we used to go there a lot and I wanted to share my childhood memories with my children. It used to be full of people, several tour buses stopped there, just a great place for everyone. I wanted to see for myself and couldn't believe the many bad reviews on the internet. I'm not a picky person at all and I can overlook a lot of things. The entire farm is very old, everything is still as it used to be, many buildings are empty and locked, the play equipment squeaks and is partly broken or non-functional and just sits there, nothing is being repaired or dismantled. There's not really anything to look at in the yard, it's just a yawning emptiness. The long slide is as fun as before, but you need a smooth jacket under your butt so that you can slide properly, otherwise the slide is too dull. All play equipment is badly affected by the weather and has rust everywhere. Many children's attractions (i.e. driving remote-controlled boats, etc.) no longer exist. The outdoor areas have been swept, hedges have been trimmed back nicely, trash cans have been emptied👍. Unfortunately the farm has a bee problem, many areas are closed off to children and there are lots of dead bees lying around, not nice for children. Now to the gastronomic part of my review. The food is at the level of a chip shop and is not good at all. Price/performance is no longer right here. The portions are huge, quantity over quality. We ordered 5 schnitzel dishes (including 1 children's schnitzel) and 5 cokes, total price 108€. The fries tasted like old fat and weren't salted, the fried potatoes were good, the schnitzels also tasted like old fat and almost half of all the schnitzels were inedible because they were very thick and full of fat and tendons, so you couldn't cut through them with a knife . Really disgusting so we didn't finish it the first time. The cola was the best part of the whole restaurant visit. It's a real shame about the money, as we could have had a really good meal somewhere else with our children. Conclusion: Farmer Ewald's legacy is extremely run down, unfortunately there is nothing left of the Prickingshof's former glory, which is really a shame. It takes a huge investment of manpower, money, new ideas and a proper overall concept to bring this farm back into shape!!!

Here you can sit down and have a good meal. We have eaten there several times. My favorite is the Bockwurst with potato salad. Jägerschnitzel, today, was also very tasty. The portions are sooooo big that you can easily share a portion. Service, friendly and quick to serve. We are happy to recommend it and will definitely come back.

The food is always good at Cracker Barrel, and the servers are kind and efficient. I just want to give an alert regarding the pricing. I am on a carnivore diet so I didn't want the bread or the potatoes. I decided to build my own breakfast, thinking it would save me charges for the extras. Turns out the basic selections -- 2 eggs, regular bacon and then an added hamburger patty added up to $21. Wow! The breakfast was good but at that price I could have chosen the steak and eggs for $18. When I tried to ask for clarification about the bill, I was even more confused. So, once again, the food was good but the price was a bit of a surprise.

What a huge yard... Everything is big here… Designed to host many people. The portions are huge. I had currywurst and fries, my wife had schnitzel with hunter's sauce and bread. The portion of curry sausage would have been enough for both of us. You don't know that beforehand. There is stuff everywhere because hardly anyone can do it. If we come again we will order a dish and a robber plate. Tastes good, price performance met. Simple but mega.

It wasn't the food that fundamentally failed. But after a family-friendly farm was recommended to us and the disappointment was huge, the food at least lifted our mood slightly. The children's play area is very outdated. There are squeaks in every corner and you wonder whether everything is still so stable. Most of the interesting devices cost between 50 cents and 1€. So have change with you so that the children have something to play with. The zoo described is currently not open to the public. The length of stay was plus minus 10 minutes in the “playground” otherwise the waiting and eating time in the restaurant. Unfortunately it's not enough for more than that. Neither child nor adult was satisfied.

Service is terrible. There were two of us. A main course came after 5 minutes, drinks came later. The second main course came 10 minutes later, when my companion had already finished eating. It doesn't work at all!!! 🤮 Food was so-so. Much smaller than 10 years ago. The pork knuckle was very tender but not crispy (even though the menu says “boiled AND baked”), the pork medallions without any taste or seasoning. Salt and pepper are not available at the table, they are hidden on the chest on the way to the toilets. With a lot of salt it worked. The quantities were also pretty meager, something I didn't remember from before. We finished the dishes without any problems, despite having coffee and cake beforehand. No problem, you still have to pack up the leftovers. That's really weak for the hefty prices of 20-30 euros per main course.
