A very beautifully located restaurant, but the service is absolutely unacceptable. Yesterday, after waiting for 15 minutes, the "waiter" told us we had to order inside because it was too cold outside. As we were ordering, he then handed my companion the drinks on a tray. I think this gentleman should be a little more thoughtful and kind to his customers.

We've always been here, and everything's always great! Today we weren't served and had to get our drinks ourselves. Order inside. Extremely disappointed, and the waiter was very, very unfriendly... He didn't know the "please" or "thank you" words.

A great restaurant with a personal touch, outdoor seating, a great menu, friendly staff, and delicious Swabian kebabs. We'd gladly return.

A fantastic restaurant with super friendly staff. Whether it's schnitzel, Maultaschen, or Spätzle, everything is simply perfect. The price-performance ratio is just right here. I visit Stuttgart several times a year, and a visit to Platzhirsch is always a must and firmly in my plans. Excellent home-style cooking and Swabian specialties, simply perfect in taste. I've never had any reason to complain so far. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to Platzhirsch.

Who would have guessed that, in the shadow of the "Hans im Glück Fountain," the visually understated "Platzhirsch" (top dog) offers such sophisticated, yet down-to-earth cuisine? Through the small beer garden in front of the steps to the dining room (smoking only), up the stairs to the upstairs parlor, and a delightful evening with delicious food and a variety of drinks can begin. Friendly service, a lively atmosphere in a well-preserved period building, and the highlight: the food. The weak points are the overused restrooms, but the value for money makes up for this.

Unfortunately, the food was relatively uncut. The staff was very friendly and the service was good. The very dirty restrooms and the path to them were striking... My companion's comment: "It's a good thing I didn't go to the restroom before dinner. I wouldn't have eaten then." Urgently needs improvement!

Very friendly service. The food is no-nonsense, but absolutely delicious. My friend had schnitzel with homemade spaetzle, gravy, and cranberries, and I had salty potato pancakes with feta cheese on salad (soooooo delicious). Generous portions. A quick look at the website and the menu will tell you everything. A bit hidden away, but it's definitely worth a visit. Card payments accepted!

We had the cheese spaetzle with bacon and a portion of Maultaschen (swabian ravioli) with potato salad. Both were very tasty, and the portions were generous. The service was also OK. The vibe is a cross between a tavern and a pub.

Typical southern German food, in a restaurant with a terrace in the center of Stuttgart. Very good value.

They have good food, the square is beautiful and quiet. We also caught some street artists who sang beautifully for those on the terrace.

Paper-thin schnitzel, not particularly attentive service, dirty toilet. Not recommended.

Great schnitzel with potato salad and good price

The "Fleischküchle" (meat dumplings)—also known as Frikadellen (meatballs)—are the best in all of Germany. Good prices & excellent food.

We were here for lunch and had delicious, homemade Maultaschen (ravioli). The salad was also delicious, and the portion size was reasonable for the price. The atmosphere is particularly pleasant at lunchtime; there's always something to look at. I'd love to come back again if I get the chance!

It takes a while to take your order, but then the food comes out pretty quickly. The food is okay and the prices are reasonable.

The restaurant is located on a beautiful square with the Hans im Glück fountain. The service is very friendly and attentive. We had one schnitzel with potato salad and one with fries. The schnitzels were as they should be, and the potato salad was absolutely delicious.

After waiting over 30 minutes for cheese spaetzle, I left. Not even an apology. At least I didn't have to pay for the printed Coke.

Good value for money. But nothing special. The classic German breaded pork... 😊 I didn't like the typical spätzle. It's a kind of homemade pasta that is served as a side dish, but it doesn't taste like anything... Anyway, very good price!

Tasty food in a pleasant atmosphere. Reasonably priced, the plate of Maultaschen (typical local food) cost around €15. We ate inside as it was too hot outside.

First of all, don't bother trying the afri-cola. It's gone stale at le-colantadinda. Their handmade iced tea was delicious, especially the peach one. We tried their schnitzel with pasta and potato salad. Since I don't have an opinion on what's better, I can say it was quite ideal. I don't think you should choose the pasta plate, it comes with overcooked, unsalted boiled dough pieces with a cinnamon sauce. The one with potato salad was quite delicious. It's a calm and quiet place. We couldn't add a photo because we were hungry 😂 They don't have tables for more than 4 people, and I guess they have no intention of combining tables. They turned away a group of 6 people while we were eating, even though there were a few tables for 4 and 2 people empty.

Homemade cuisine that's unpretentious but very decent for the price. The service is very fast, and the waiters are friendly and attentive. The terrace on the small square is a real plus.

The service was terribly slow and unfriendly. The restaurant was very noisy. It took forever for us to order and for our food to arrive. The quality of the food was not very good. The prices on the online menu on the website were 4 to 5 euros cheaper than on the printed menu.

Unfortunately, we were unlucky from the start. After ordering, everything was normal, but at some point the waiter came and said the soda maker was broken. So we ordered new drinks. The food never arrived. The food at the next table was delivered before us, even though they arrived 20 minutes later. Then the Maultaschen (ravioli) were sold out. So we ordered new food. It arrived at some point. One of the waiters said we were out of drinks. We ordered espresso and cappuccino. Unfortunately, they were never delivered after several inquiries. So we didn't pay for the drinks either.

Great German food with great service! We came for dinner but the kitchen was already closed (10pm) so we came back the next day for lunch. They do serve a limited lunch menu but thankfully it had everything we wanted to order! The food was delicious. My fiancé ordered the schnitzel with spaetzle and I would order that too if we came back once more.

All in all, everything was perfect. The food we ordered wasn't great, but the burger was the best. The waiters were friendly and efficient.

Food (schnitzel with French fries) was ok but low in salt, nothing special

We had a very good meal. The spaetzle, potato salad, and side salad were homemade and fresh. Good value for money. Dogs are welcome, even indoors (although it's quite cramped and there's little space between the tables).

Fantastic German food. We ate there twice. Spacious terrace and plenty of room inside. The schnitzel is delicious. It's an inexpensive restaurant and it's located on a very nice street.

Schnitzel with pommes was really great, nice and affordable. The only downside was the different street musicians performing loudly for restaurant guests outside and making so much noise in the evening that it’s quite difficult to talk to your friends at the table.

Greasy tables and greasy plates. Service was very slow. No electronic cash register. I didn't even know that was still possible. The dessert (pancake) was the most unloving thing I've ever had in a restaurant.

We got a seat quickly. The outdoor seating is quite nice, but it's not a traditional beer garden. The food is okay, but nothing special. Sauces come from a can, and drinks like the Moscow Mule have way too much ginger—but that's a matter of taste. We waited 15-20 minutes for our initial order. There were four of us there.

The Moscow Mule is undrinkable; all you taste is ginger and it burns your throat. The spaetzle and lentils taste like nothing.

With that statement, they're going against the grain, because they serve Swabian food. Never again, and thank you for your disappointment.

A very nice place with delicious food and generous portions – definitely worth a try. It's usually quite busy, which is understandable given the quality. The service is generally of a high standard. However, we did experience an issue — our order got lost in the kitchen, and we ended up waiting for over an hour. To be fair, the waiter handled the situation very professionally and offered us a discount.

Ich war abends mit Freunden dort. Die Atmosphäre draußen war angenehm, drinnen wirkte es eher abgenutzt. Der Service war leider etwas aufdringlich, da mehrfach versucht wurde, mir ein alkoholisches Getränk anzubieten. Das empfand ich als unangemessen. Schade!

If one could give 0 stars, that would still be too many. I've never experienced anything so bad in my life. The chair tried to throw me off, the waiter didn't respond to my order for an hour, everything was cold and disgusting. There were rats on the floor, and my colleague's cake, which arrived two hours later, had animal hair (probably also from a rat). Like-minded people attract like-minded people. Disgusting.

If you want a few drinks, this is a great bar! The food hasn't been that great so far, but it's definitely worth eating. The girls at the bars are all super nice and friendly.

You must visit this place when in Stuttgart! Immediately we were greeted by the friendliest server, Lilly, we have had during our visit in Germany; she made our whole night amazing! She helped us navigate our menu with expert recommendations, and gave us perfect local insight that made our trip 10x better than we had planned while here in Stuttgart. The food was very good, and the atmosphere was nice but overall Lilly made our experience here the best we have had so far on our trip. If you come here, recommend Lilly and give her a very generous tip!!! Management, please promote this angel and give her the credit she so dearly deserves!! my husband and I were so impressed and grateful that we had the pleasure to be so thoughtfully cared for by Lilly this night!!

It's supposed to be a student bar, but it doesn't look like it at all! We had a spontaneous meal here and we will definitely come back. My absolute recommendation are the napkin dumplings with feta and pesto! I couldn't imagine anything like it and every expectation was exceeded. Really phenomenally delicious! There is a lot to choose from, including vegetarian and vegan dishes. Big plus points for the feminine hygiene products in the toilet! If you happen to be in the area, you should definitely stop by.

Anyone who likes Swabian rustic is in good hands here. Price-performance ratio is right!

Highly recommended - nice atmosphere!

We stopped by for a late lunch (February 2025). The food was excellent. They had multiple local (Swabian) food options. The portion sizes were large and the quality was excellent. It was reasonably priced. We spent €53.50 on two mains and a bottle of local wine. Highly recommend the "Maultaschen" which came with caramelised onions, gravy, potato salad and salad.

This afternoon I had a Hausgemachte Maultaschen geschmelzt mit Kartoffelsalat und Salat at Platzhirsch. It was the best Maultaschen I've had in a long time. Apparently the maultaschen had been freshly made this Monday morning. The sauce and the geschmelzte onions were excellent. With the fresh green salad and potato salad the whole meal was a delight. Unfortunately, my companion had less luck with her Gemischter Salat mit gerösteten Maultaschen. The salad was fine, but the slices of maultaschen were much too thin and burnt. She left half of the maultaschen slices uneaten. Otherwise, a great place in Stuttgart for fine food at low prices.
