Platon in Düsseldorf

Thank you for the wonderful Christmas party we had with you. We were a group of 28 and enjoyed a lovely atmosphere with delicious food and very attentive and competent staff. A big thank you again to the team for organizing everything so well and for making sure everyone was happy and satisfied, from vegan options to top-notch Greek specialties!

We booked by phone for a larger group. The table was set up for the corresponding number of people. The restaurant was full, as is typical for the pre-Christmas season. We were shown to our table, and then nothing happened for a while. I waited 45 minutes to order drinks. Luckily, I ordered two drinks right away, because I had to wait another 45 minutes before they arrived. The food order was taken fairly quickly considering the amount of food, but then, once again, there was a yawning silence. Some of the other drink orders were fulfilled. Some drinks weren't brought to the table as ordered. Again, the wait was incredibly long. We waited over two hours for our "food." Then the salad arrived: a handful of iceberg lettuce with a piece of tomato and half a slice of cucumber in a honey mustard dressing. A colleague's salad was dressed up with a piece of the salad bag. After 2.5 hours, the main course finally arrived. The potato slices were typical frozen product. Nothing special. My €30 200g beef fillet looked like it had shrunk to a shoe sole when cooked. I don't need to go to a restaurant for that, nor am I paying that price. So I took my plate to the server and complained. At least they acknowledged that it wasn't cooked medium as ordered. The offer they made didn't exactly improve my mood. They could make me a new one and pack it up to take home. Aha! Who lets someone pack something like that up? Was it some kind of poorly packaged "We'll make you a new shoe sole, and you'll leave for that?!" Okay, so no Christmas dinner for me. In contrast, my colleague's meal was raw. That was also pointed out. You can't eat every type of meat raw. Not even when, as the server clearly said with irritation, we all ended up ordering à la carte. It's the restaurant's responsibility to point out when a reservation is made that à la carte service is difficult or impossible. A restaurant should also know its limits and then not accept reservations of that size. There are several things to criticize here. The table service was also lacking. The final bill included drinks that had been ordered but never reached our table. Other guests also seemed disappointed. Would I eat here again? No. Would I recommend this restaurant? No. Would my colleagues eat here again? No. We left the restaurant hungry and thirsty.

We've been regulars at Platon for years. It's a wonderful family-run restaurant with a welcoming atmosphere. Good value for money and friendly service. They have a changing menu of daily specials – the fish is especially recommended. We'll definitely be back.

Unfortunately, I won't be coming back. We waited over two hours for our food. We ordered drinks... which took forever. Then the drinks were brought, but they weren't what we had ordered. The person who brought them wouldn't take any further orders. So, many people only had one or two drinks in that time. We received many rude answers to our questions, such as when the food would arrive. They suggested we could help out in the kitchen if it took too long... No thanks. The only positive thing was that we didn't have to pay for the dishes that weren't up to standard.

Way too crowded, way too loud. We booked as a large group. We waited 1.5 hours for the food. One meat dish was sporadically seared and served raw. We also had to wait a long time for drinks. If you speak to the staff, they ask if you want to help.

Poor organization, waited an hour for drinks and 2.5 hours for food. That's way too long, and two of the meals were raw. Any fast-food place is better. Never again!

It has to be said that while the place may be a bit old-fashioned and perhaps not cutting-edge, it has everything else to offer. From the exceptionally good food to the excellent service. My family and I have been eating at Platon for years, primarily for the grilled dishes. They use a real grill, and you can definitely taste the difference. Most restaurants just say "grilled," but the food is actually cooked in a pan. Not here! The quality of the food is outstanding, especially the fish dishes, but also the wine. The prices have also remained almost the same over the years and are considerably cheaper than in most restaurants these days. All in all, it's a restaurant we happily visit three or four times a year.

Mold on the ceiling, everything's gone downhill, unfortunately. It doesn't taste good anymore, everything's so expensive, and it used to be better. All the pictures you see here are exactly like that—not appetizing at all, and in the end, it'll all just go to pot anyway. Not recommended, unfortunately.

It's enough for a pretty star to eat.

We've been coming regularly for over 20 years. Until now, we were happy to pay the high prices. Today's portion of food (souvlakia) was so small that it wouldn't fill anyone up. It was also "shot" onto the plate with absolutely no care, no decorations whatsoever. Dear Platon, you eat with your eyes!!! I ordered fries instead of rice. I don't even want to describe the taste/consistency/smell. Truly inedible! Plus, you could count the portion size because it was so clear... about 20 white fries that tasted of ancient grease. And a small spoonful of dip. The sight of this plate was borderline bad for €16. The service was friendly as always, so we gave it 2 stars. The portions have gotten smaller and smaller in recent years despite the "coronavirus price increase," so unfortunately, we won't be coming back. It's a shame, we used to love it!

We simply like going there because we really appreciate the host.

Food and ambience were once again great

What a shame, a real shame! For me/us it used to be the shop in Hassels where we liked to go to enjoy something like gyros etc. as well as kebabs and the like. I went there with my mom as a little boy and it was always a little highlight. Unfortunately we have now had to experience what some people have already mentioned here - the shop has changed. First of all the prices have gone up considerably here and no, we are not penny pinchers, we are happy to pay a penny more for good food. It really is all about the portion size these days. I had beftiki with potato slices (1 euro more with the filling... that was really new to us) and what I was served was really just sad. No, sorry, that is definitely not clear given the prices or is no longer clear to us. The (once good) shop has really changed and unfortunately we will not be going there anymore. We can now really recommend the 10-minute drive straight ahead to Hilden. There's a shop called Alexandros near Saturn, a friend recommended it to us. And what can we say? Bam! Good, delicious, plentiful food where you're happy to pay the advertised price. As a Hassellian, I'm really itching to write reviews right now... It's a shame how you can destroy yourself like that.

Worst restaurant in Düsseldorf Ordered two grilled plates, but the plates arrived in different quantities. One of them was missing the gyro. The plate was taken back to the kitchen, and the gyro was put on top, but they took away the lamb chop. I waited two hours for dry meat, poor service, and an unfriendly manager. Arguments instead of solutions!

An authentic Greek restaurant The food tasted great, with the materials being fresh and large portions. The staff is really kind and friendly. The restaurant also has an outside sitting area, nicely decorated and cozy.

We were there for dinner on Monday evening. There were plenty of seats left, but the music was too loud. Service was attentive, but the food was average. We'll probably come back and hope for a place that accepts more than just debit cards.

My husband and I have been going to this restaurant for years and have always found the service to be friendly! The dishes are delicious and plentiful, the salad is crisp and fresh, there's ouzo on the house, and the prices are just what you'd expect these days! No restaurant owner has anything to give away! The only complaints are the usually quite long wait times when paying and the often very loud noise level if you're unlucky enough to be seated in the back of the dining area. Otherwise, a definite recommendation!

On the occasion of a 75th birthday, despite having ordered a table for ten people in a timely manner, we were sent to a table that was far too small in an uncomfortable basement room. We waited around two hours for our food. Other guests who arrived later were brought forward. We were forgotten several times when serving drinks. Ordered french fries were quietly replaced with sliced ​​potatoes without any question or notice. The food was ok, but couldn't make up for the otherwise bad experience. It's a shame, after decades of regular visits, we no longer feel comfortable or welcome here.

We felt comfortable as soon as we walked in. Platon is a family-run restaurant with a nice atmosphere. When the food came to the table we were thrilled. I ordered a meat platter and didn't expect that there would be so much and, above all, such delicious meat on the plate. The meat was tender and hit the spot (especially the gyros was super tasty), what's surprising is that the price is so low for such a good meal at €16 (see picture). Absolute recommendation!

Star deduction, we were there for Christmas. Waiting times were too long, starting at the entrance. Waited 20 minutes. It was just too crowded. Table was ordered for 12. Very tight space. After ordering, the food came relatively quickly. Was also delicious. Errors were quickly corrected. But from then on you basically had to beg for someone to come and bring something else. Friends arrived an hour later and still had nothing 2 hours later. CONCLUSION, you should only take on as many people as you can manage.

The Platon restaurant impresses with a warm, friendly atmosphere, which is characterized by the family that runs it. You immediately feel welcome and well looked after. The food is excellent - especially the rich meat platters, which are perfectly prepared and served with loving attention to detail. The authentic flavors and quality of the food are simply impressive. The family ensures that you not only eat well, but also feel like a valued guest. Conclusion: A place where hospitality and Greek cuisine go hand in hand. Absolutely recommended!

The building looks increasingly unkempt, verdigris everywhere. In the building you can slowly see the mold in the corners. You have to do something urgently. Nice staff, delicious food. Recommended starter plate. Wine well chilled. We are here every year with 10 people at Christmas time and in the summer to celebrate our company graduation. Parking spaces available under the motorway bridge.

I have been to many restaurants with customers across Germany but Plato clearly stands out. The food is very tasty and delicious, the quality and preparation is first class. The owner goes from table to table, is very sociable, very personable and makes you feel good. The atmosphere is rustic and Greek - I recently ate the rump steak and it was one of the best I've ever had, very high quality and tender. The price is fair, not expensive - definitely worth several visits! Thanks!

I'm not a cook, but I could have done a much better job. Service was ok. Sometimes overwhelmed. One of the bad restaurants I've visited in years.

the Doras family & service are very attentive. The starters & food & dessert were very tasty. The homemade dip with the meat and the sheep's cheese cream with the starter plate were really good. The dessert with the ice cream (coconut with nuts and nougat filling?) as well as yoghurt with carrots & Greek honey plus chocolate cakes was a surprise and a really great ending. We'd love to come back.

Returned there after a long time. Unfortunately a bit disappointed with our food. We were looking forward to delicious lamb. We got Greek noodles with three small bites of leg of lamb that were well hidden under the noodles. For the money it wasn't worth it. Starters really great, tasty and plentiful. Staff very nice but a bit overloaded. Therefore only 3 stars.

Unfortunately, unfortunately we weren't satisfied at all. The staff was totally overwhelmed, it took forever until we even received a card. Then we waited 10 minutes until someone came to take the drinks. Definitely another 10 minutes to eat the food. We waited over 30 minutes for food. When it came, the fries were very, very crispy and the meat was very over-seasoned. Drinks only came when ordered and that was delayed. When we wanted to pay and the bill came, one drink was undercharged. We then paid the bill and added the forgotten drink to the tip. That's right - unfortunately a waiter came again to bring us the change. No, we won't get any more money back, that's right. So we had another espresso and an ouzo, which was very nice, but perhaps you should ask beforehand if you wanted ouzo - because there are definitely people who don't like ouzo or who still have to drive, so the people sitting next to me were happy. There was somehow no red line to be seen in the service team; every waiter was somehow responsible for every table. Suggestion for improving the service from a colleague: Divide up the tables, everyone has their own area - if someone is idle (which I don't think is going to happen given how busy they are), he will give the colleague a helping hand.

We were invited to a birthday party. The restaurant was completely booked due to another big celebration, but the service and food were spot on. Drinks came quickly and the food came after about 35-40 minutes, which I found to be perfectly fine considering the capacity. We were even allowed to not only bring a surprise cake with us, but also bring it in beforehand so that it could be kept in the refrigerator! Thank you again for this great opportunity and have a nice evening!

I can't rate the food because it was so cold in the restaurant that we left. (The car we returned to was 19 degrees and felt significantly warmer than the restaurant). We just had a drink and then left. The service was still very nice. Therefore three stars. Nevertheless: when I look at the menu, I can only say that I was surprised that all the dishes only come with rice or potatoes as a side dish. No fries. Many dishes with pork, few with lamb. Nevertheless, the prices are mostly over 20 euros. Nothing really appealed to me. In this respect, it was just a shame that anyone even drove to the restaurant. I remembered the restaurant better from earlier times.
