What happened in this store? Waited 2 hours for the pizza to arrive and of course canceled my order straight away. They don't even come towards you either. Unfortunately, Pizza Dato can no longer be recommended.

Very unfortunate. We have always ordered our favorite pizza for delivery here, which is not available anywhere else in Mainz. The owner seems to have changed and now Lieferando is also there. The result: everything is more expensive and more dough than pizza, soft and no longer crispy, very wide and high at the edge, flaky in the middle, saves on toppings. If it stays that way, that's it for us, unfortunately.

Ordered pizza for the second time in a short time. After the taste disaster a few weeks ago, we gave Pizza Dato another chance and were unfortunately disappointed again. This time not only with bad taste, but also with burnt grilled vegetables. Unfortunately, we cannot make any recommendations at the moment.

Pizza for pickup. Unfortunately, one of two pizzas was pretty burnt on the bottom and partly inedible. The other pizza was the wrong one - margarita instead of pazza. I hope that was an exception. Was there for the first time and will test it again soon.

The pizza was really delicious, one of the best I've ever tasted! The atmosphere was simply perfect, charming and with attention to the smallest details. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive, making the experience even more pleasant. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a special evening!

Pizza dough has totally changed, the staff has changed, I didn't see any of the old employees anymore. Service was good, but it is very noisy in the store, the atmosphere is no longer like it was six months ago.

There is no better pizzeria than Dato. Here you are treated and served so warmly. The food is simply incredibly delicious. Definitely 5 stars 🌟

Last: Reduced from 4 to 3 stars because this is definitely not the Dato we knew for so long. If I want to eat the type of pizza that Dato currently has, I usually go somewhere else. Here at Dato I expect the “old” quality that we have come to appreciate and love. It's a shame, but we wish the (previous) operator a pleasant retirement and thank him for his time! Previously: As regulars since 2002, we have ordered pizza very often. Since Corona (and the price adjustment) less and recently only every 1-2 months, because the pizzas have apparently become smaller, the salt content has increased significantly and the pizza crust has become significantly wider and thicker. We don't like that, it used to be better. We have already sat here in the winter garden and in the restaurant, picked up food or had it delivered. Sometimes mistakes happen when ordering over the phone, which is annoying, but you can usually forgive it until the next time. We'll try it 1-2 more times, but if it stays like this, we'll probably no longer be regulars. The current valuation still draws on the past, but from our point of view the trend is unfortunately rather downward...

We were all super satisfied, highly recommended. Of course, the Nutella pizza as a dessert couldn't be missed. I'd love to come back. ☺️ the older man with gray hair is the best 👍🏼

Hi, After the takeover, Pizza Dato no longer has the same quality as it did in the Data era. Pasta is no longer of the same quality and salad ingredients are missing. Pizza dough has gotten worse. The pizza dough border has become really wide and large, at the expense of the pizza topping!! Pizza dough no longer tastes the same. Long delivery times for delivery. Yes, it's a shame. Dato is no longer Dato. I also asked about this on FB and was 85% agreed. Oh, the prices have also been increased Ciao Mario

I'm really very disappointed from today onwards. Last 2 times the pizza wasn't completely different as usual. I pointed this out and would just put the pizza back in the oven at home and the 7 minute drive would be too long to get home and that would make it soft But no, they were delivered soft, I opened them in the car, I was so happy when I found you and now this 😥

My family has been coming here for years, back when we didn't know about my problem with gluten, and then when I discovered with friends that gluten-free pizzas were just as delicious here. However, since the operator changed, things have gotten a bit out of kilter. Not only has everything become more expensive, but the gluten-free pizzas have become particularly small. The normal pizzas are also a little smaller and the dough is different too. Instead, new plates that are less practical, small lights and flowers that get in the way of the large pizza plates. Placemats which, despite demand, are only washed off more often than not. Crumbs collect on glasses and cutlery, some of which are lying there unnecessarily. The old place cards were practical and always clean. This is a big drawback for me, especially because of gluten, just as when I am served by one of the bakers with a floury T-shirt. I didn't have that back then. I really hope that people here go back to the old ways.

We are long-term customers. Unfortunately, things are no longer the same after changing operators. The personal atmosphere is somehow gone. The boss used to respond directly to the customers and listen to the guests. That's no longer the case. At least that is no longer noticeable to us. For us, this means that the restaurant is no different from any other restaurant, which we find very unfortunate.

Today we have ordered and picked up carbonara many times. But today was a great letdown. I've never had such a miserable carbonara. No unseasoned sauce. Incredibly bad. She would have gone back to the restaurant.

Very nice feel-good atmosphere, friendly employees and a very committed boss. The pizzas were outstanding, which was to be expected given the high quality of the ingredients. Nothing is bought from the supermarket next door (nothing against supermarkets!), but the difference in quality is simply there and is noticeable. I definitely recommend!

Pizza is wonderful, but charging €1.30 for a crumb of garlic is far above the usual calculation factor of 4. At Pepe you get Knobi for free, but I don't want anything for free either. Unfortunately, the crumb of garlic tastes old and musty. Otherwise the perfect pizza. I'd love to come back, but next time I won't use garlic if it tastes so disgusting. The boss also complained to the staff, which was audible throughout the restaurant... I don't know what it was about exactly, but as a customer you shouldn't notice something like that!

I am always amazed. I've been going to Dato for many, many years - even when they were still on Schinnergraben, without a restaurant. Yesterday I ate the lavender pizza. It's an absolute blast. I couldn't imagine that lavender would fit - but it does. Very, very tasty!!!!!

Unfortunately a complete disappointment: (Pasta was dry, tasteless and still burnt. The pizzas were well, one could have stayed in the oven for a minute longer and the other was about to burn. Delivery time was almost twice as long as stated. It's a shame, NEVER happened to us with the old owner.

Mein Gericht Spagetti Mare Crespo. Habe dies dort vor 3 Monaten letztmals gegessen. Änderungen: Man hat die Teller durch kleinere ersetzt. Krabben und kleine Muscheln kaum noch. Stattdessen gummiartige Calamarisstückchen. Bei gleichem Preis auch eine Art von versteckter Inflation. Das andere Gericht Tacchino-Salat. Weniger Hähnchenstückchen (etwa 5), stattdessen Pilze. In der Karte steht "frischgebratene" Champignons, daher wohl keine frischen. Ein wenig irreführend. Der gewitzte Chef sollte nicht von der Naivität aller Gäste ausgehen. Angenehmes Ambiente. Auch positiv sehr netter aufmerksamer Service, deshalb noch befriedigt.

I have lived in Hechtsheim for 4 years and have ordered there a total of three times (including today). Every time there were problems. Today I wanted to have it delivered for the first time because I couldn't pick it up due to a sleeping child. A delivery time of one hour was initially estimated for a small pizza and a salad. When nothing came after 1.5 hours, I called them. Instead of an apology, there was a “tip” not to order from Lieferando, as the food would be more expensive there. Thanks for the tip, it just doesn't solve the problem of where my food is, right. Definitely the last time I'll order there. This time it was only a replacement because Siciliana was closed today.

The pizzaria is the last thing Me and my partner ordered a salad and a small pizza online and called after waiting for over 1.5 hours, we live less than 3 kilometers away. The person on the phone was unfriendly and advised us not to order on Liferando because it was more expensive. What does this have to do with lifetime? When the food came it was cold and soggy. Never again, dear La Sicilian.

I really enjoy eating pizza or pasta here. The service is great and everyone is super friendly. You can sit great on the terrace, which is a winter garden in winter. Last time I ate pasta with pesto and burrata and it was super delicious. We also like to order here. They only take cash when ordering, but you can also pay with card on site.

An ideal place for connoisseurs of Italian cuisine and more. My husband and I were passing through this city on the way to Hanover, but the cuisine and service were so pleasant that on the way back we stopped in Maines specifically just to return to this wonderful restaurant and try another delicacy!! We were satisfied!

I've been a regular at Dato for a long time, but today I was once again convinced that this shop knows its stuff. And this time I can't help but record my enthusiasm here: The pizza has always been very good here, but after refining the dough recipe, it is now unrivaled in Mainz. Light dough with a crispy edge, 1A products, this is definitely in a different league. Incredibly good !! Best pizza in Mainz!! But it's not just the pizza, everything fits together in this house. Keep it up guys!

Super good pizza! Fresh, crispy, great toppings. I would argue the best in MZ. Salad and pasta dishes are also great! The atmosphere is a little old-fashioned 90s and cool. For example, red and white checkered tablecloths and red wine bottles with candles would be nice (like the clichés for Italian restaurants or at Lady and the Tramp ;-)). Then it would be a little more comfortable. No matter: quality counts! And it really is exceptionally high. And it really tastes extremely good. 11 out of 10 points. ;-) Delivery service and online ordering possible.

One of the best pizzerias in Mainz for me. You can just taste that people here are thinking about what they are preparing. In addition, there are not only the standard pizzas that are available everywhere, but also many interesting own creations. The gluten-free pizzas and pasta are among the best I've ever eaten. The food is also edible for people with celiac disease. Clear recommendation.

We used to often go to Pizzeria Dato and also to the Pepe locations. It's been a long time since we went to Hechtsheim to see Dato again on Saturday evening, and we were really happy. We were all the more disappointed that things had changed fundamentally. There seems to be a new tenant! :( Instead of the friendly, familiar greeting, we were pointed to the free tables with a brief comment, which surprised us, as every table is otherwise occupied. The iconic trendy cardboard menu is from a cheap-looking imitation leather collector with printed lists of the dishes that have become significantly more expensive evaded. Unfortunately, we couldn't find our favorite Dato/Pepe dishes on the menu anymore and ordered pizzas and pasta with similar toppings, as well as a bottle of wine and water. The pizzas were the biggest disappointment: anyone who has ever been to Dato/Pepe knows the quality of the dough, the toppings and the perfect preparation. The scent alone was always a pleasure. This time it was unfortunately a kind of pan pizza with crumbly and slightly tough dough, far too much (ready-made) tomato sauce in which the toppings were floating... and unfortunately not enough cheese. We were pretty speechless that a once-so-successful concept ended in such a disappointing way. Very unfortunate. We won't be coming back.

The ambience is also very nice and special, as the winter garden is opened in summer and then creates a feeling like being on a terrace. Very great, keep it up!

Ordered pizza again for a long time. As usual, very tasty, but a little more expensive, like everything else. But here it comes, the size has also changed and negatively. The pizzas that are described as normal here, I would get as small or mini pizza anywhere else. It's a shame, I won't go there anymore, that shocked me!!! It was also sold.

Rather inconspicuous from the outside, bigger on the inside than you think. You sit comfortably, the menu is original and the dishes are very tasty, and the service is Hessian. Dialect was fun

For us, the pizza was the best far and wide for years. The delivery service is reliable, the food is hot. The pizza hasn't tasted so good to us for a few weeks now; it's limp and greasy. New chef? Delivery time more than 2 hours and then still lukewarm.

Pizzeria Dato offers delicious, authentic Italian pizza in a cozy atmosphere. The dough is perfectly crispy and the ingredients are fresh and of high quality. Service is friendly and attentive, although it can sometimes take a little longer when it's busy. Overall, an excellent choice for pizza lovers!

mega pızza ...everyone's great !!!!

We've tried a lot of things here, after our regular pizzeria had extremely slacked off. So far we haven't been disappointed at Pizza Dato. We have already eaten on site, picked up food and had it delivered. The food is always prepared fairly quickly. The pizza tastes fantastic. If you like it spicy/piquant, you should definitely try the Nduja pizza here. But the pasta also tastes very good. My favorite here is the Tagliatelle Salvatore. The tiramisu completely blew us away. This has to!! you should definitely try it there. It's so fluffy. :) The service is fabulous and everyone at this pizzeria is so nice. Definitely our new favorite pizzeria!

Very friendly, attentive service. Very diverse menu of pizzas, pasta and salads or specials. Everything tasted very good. The winter garden is nice to sit in. It's better to make a reservation as it gets quite crowded in the evenings.

We went to the pizzeria today because of the great reviews about gluten-free dishes. We really liked it there! The boss is very nice, friendly and likes to talk to his guests! My gf was Pizza Dato with additional capers and garlic Excellent! A trip from our holiday destination Eltville to Mainz was definitely worth it! We can recommend the pizzeria 100%!

I always enjoy coming here. The food is great, fresh, always delicious. The service is nice, helpful, fast and courteous. The furnishings are modern, neat and clean, not extravagant, but completely okay.

I have ordered pizza to be delivered for years. Yesterday at 6 p.m. I wanted to do it again when a slightly annoyed voice told me that we had so much to do that we could only pick up the order on site but delivery was not possible (?!) It's nice that there are still pizzerias that can do without sales and that seem to be doing really well economically. Compliments....for the bad service 👎I will never order there again!!! I have been a customer for years, unfortunately it happened three times when ordering pizza that the pizza was no longer hot. I ordered again today, unfortunately it took too long for delivery and the pizza was more cold than lukewarm. I didn't accept the pizza from the driver, so I called Pizza Dato and complained about the pizza. I got the rude answer that I shouldn't order from them anymore, normally an apology would have been appropriate.

I wanted to redeem a voucher that was a year old and was told it was no longer valid. There was no expiration date on the voucher.

I had super tasty noodles, it's really hot to take home.

I used to be a very big fan of it, but the quality has declined significantly. You really pay a hefty surcharge for extra toppings, which unfortunately are repeatedly missing from the pizza. The dough is no longer the same and the prices have risen so much that you can actually go to the next village pizzeria, which is much cheaper and now tastes better. Very unfortunate.

Wir sind oft Gäste in diesem Restaurant und waren gestern und zuletzt am 25.02. hier zum Essen. Ich bestelle mir jedes Mal die Pizza Bruscetta und war bisher immer sehr zufrieden. Am 25.02. hatten wir uns schon über den anderen Geschmack und Konsistenz der Pizza gewundert und ich habe 12,40 Euro bezahlt. Gersten wollen wir es nochmals probieren und waren schon beim Eintreten erstaunt über das neue „Anbiente“ (Platz-Sets, Gläser und eine Tischlampe) . Wie wir dann erfahren haben, hat Dato sein Restaurant verpachtet. Die bestellte Pizza hatte wieder nicht den gewohnten Geschmack und war zudem 1 Euro teurer als vor drei Wochen. Der Preis für die Pizza war ja erst bei Dato angehoben worden. Ich brauche und möchte kein Chichi, für den/das ich dann auch noch bezahlen muss. Die Pizza soll einfach nur schmecken, relativ schnell da sein und auch nicht überteuert sein. Ein Schnellrestaurant bleibt ein Schnellrestaurant und ich suche es mir auch so aus. Wenn ich etwas besser essen gehen möchte, dann nicht hier. Sehr schade.
