Philharmonie Club in Essen

We love going to dinner here before events at the Philharmonie. The food is very tasty and the service is also very good.

The atmosphere of the Philharmonie Club is very cozy. I ordered guinea fowl breast with pointed cabbage and polenta. Instead of the pointed cabbage, cubes of celery were served without any mention of it. When I pointed this out to the waitress, I was told: “Pointed cabbage was probably out.” Relatively incomprehensible to me on a Thursday. However, at least for me it is self-evident that the guest is made aware of a change BEFORE ordering and serving! Even though celery isn't exactly one of my favorite vegetables, I didn't have the dish back due to lack of time to attend our concert, although I wasn't even offered it. After the meal, when the waitress asked if everything was to our satisfaction, I replied that the dish was ok, but that I was looking forward to the pointed cabbage and that they should have told me about the change in the side dish BEFORE. Then I got the answer: "Yes, that's right." Not more! No apology, no accommodation. In my opinion, such service is an imposition and a nuisance! So there is no recommendation from me...
