A very nice location in an old hall of the Zollverein colliery, which was originally left and is harmoniously furnished. Above all, the acoustics are very pleasant. The service was excellent, friendly and helpful from reception to billing. The food is really worth its price. Some regional cuisine prepared with a lot of flair, some international dishes that go very well with the Ruhr region. A clear recommendation.

Unfortunately, I probably made an operating error during the evaluation, which presented a negative picture (1 point). I would like to clearly correct this later. We were extremely satisfied with the extensive offering, the attentive and courteous service and the ambience that was reminiscent of mining history. Historic place, tastefully and coolly integrated restaurant into the industrial ambience. Very attentive, friendly service. Top food, prices at a higher level. But reasonable compared to other restaurants in this area.

This restaurant is worth every penny! The service is first class and is provided by nice, friendly and very competent employees. The food is beyond delicious and the steak comes as ordered, which is an exceptional feature for me. Even if you go there with people who don't speak German, they immediately switch to English. All in all, a very tasty affair that you have to be able to afford but is definitely worth a visit.

An absolute highlight! The Casino Zollverein combines excellent cuisine with a unique atmosphere in the historic ambience of the Zollverein World Heritage Site. The dishes are creative, perfectly balanced and prepared with high-quality ingredients. The service is attentive, professional and warm. If you are in Essen, you should not miss this special place.

Went there again after a long time and took advantage of the very good offer for the candle light dinner. This is a three course menu but excluding meat/fish/veg. You can't choose anything and get something of your choice of cuisine. The price is great and it comes with 1 bottle of wine, water and 2 hot drinks. The starter was a kind of roast beef burger, top composition in terms of taste, but we didn't understand why the (cold) roast beef came in strips about 3-4cm thick. That was a bit strange for the mouthfeel. The main course was sliced ​​meat with mushrooms, sugar snap peas, mashed potatoes with vegetables underneath and a thick breaded king oyster mushroom on top. I found the latter to be quite out of place both visually and in terms of taste. Dessert was a fried filo dough (?) roll, with a berry mousse, crumbles and vanilla sauce. Everything was wonderful here. Striking.. Every course had berries in some form. I assume the menu is a good opportunity to use up “surplus” ingredients. We enjoyed it, but if someone saw it differently, I think it would be very annoying even with a surprise menu. In general we thought the concept was great :) The description is just an example, the service representative pointed out that the menu can always be something different. Speaking of service, that evening was wonderful and very accommodating. What I would particularly like to highlight as a positive aspect is that, because I was an English-speaking companion, communication was very natural in English, so that I didn't have to constantly translate. Really not an everyday occurrence in the Ruhr area. So far, despite the small compromises in the food, I would still have given it a full 5 stars because the price/performance ratio is simply good here. But the ambience suffered greatly that evening due to two large groups (company events or similar). I realize that such guests are particularly important for restaurants. But if I want a beer hall atmosphere, I'll also go to a beer hall. I think the management could still think about whether they could do something differently organizationally. For example, place the two groups close to each other or in the back part of the restaurant that is not being used that evening. All in all, we would be happy to come back and can recommend Casino Zollverein with a good heart.

Unfortunately my third visit with 6 people was not what you would expect given the prices and the ambience. Service was so friendly that you didn't feel like you were being taken seriously anymore. Hardly any questions about whether there is still something to drink. The soups were simple soups and had little in common with potato or pumpkin cream soup. Main courses were good. The bottle of wine we ordered was brought to the table twice, already opened, which is completely wrong. Complaints about the food were heard but no one made the effort to come from the kitchen to the table. Too bad

Mixed impressions. The service was very good and attentive. The starter was also very good. But we had to wait a long time for the main course and then the food was only lukewarm.

Lovely atmosphere, great service & food! All the food taste was excellent. Restaurant was expensive though. Food was tasty and healthy. This place is a unique and for this reason it’s perfect for special occasions or celebrations. Recommended for dinner compared to lunch. Location is around 15-20 minutes by tram from the Essen Central Station ( Straßenbahn Essen: 107). Tram station is very nearby.

The food was very good, the service was also attentive and friendly. It took a little too long for the food to arrive, even though the restaurant wasn't fully booked. In terms of billing, a bit of chaos broke out. We had to explain it several times before this was understood. Still definitely worth repeating.

Das Ambiente und die Location sind toll, auch das Personal sehr aufmerksam. Die Küche allerdings was vergetarische oder vegane Speisen angeht sehr im unteren level einzuordnen. Ich hatte die Gnocci mit Trüffelsauce und mit verbundenen Augen hätte ich nicht gewusst, was ich auf dem Teller habe, null Geschmack, einfach eine Mehlpampe mit schwarzen Flocken, die Aubergine ist übrigens nicht besser . Als Schockmoment stand dann noch Entenstopfleber auf der Tageskarte, einfach unglaublich. Wer Fleisch essen will , aber muß es die Krönung der Tierquälerei sein? In Deutschland übrigens verboten, muß importiert werden. Salat gibt es auch nicht auf der Karte was ich sehr befremdlich finde.

We spent a lovely evening here in a pleasant atmosphere. The restaurant is located in an old machine hall with some of the machinery still in place. We felt very comfortable that evening. The multi-course menu was wonderful, every course was excellent. The service was friendly and attentive. Absolute recommendation for every mine visitor! Special tip: Be sure to try the Brauwerk Schacht 8 Grubenpilz. Special yeasts create a grapefruit-like taste, which led to me consuming more beer that evening...

We had a very nice stay, the time for the buffet was perfect, the staff were extremely open-minded and friendly. There is something for every taste at the buffet, and the champagne bar is particularly noteworthy. The hot food is of a high standard. Only the price-performance ratio seems a little too high to me, but that's just my personal assessment.

We had brunch in the casino with five friends. They were successful hours in every respect. The buffet was very varied, of very good quality and very tasty. The service was also impeccable. All employees are friendly, attentive and present, in a natural way. At our request, the previous function, the "industrial hall", was explained to us in detail. Generally positive feedback: However, we see two or three improvement options: 1. Increase the variety of drinks in the flat rate (variety of coffee, tea, water, juices) 2. Even if it is difficult to solve in the room - perhaps a room acoustician has ideas (sound-absorbing elements) 3. More vegetarian food ;-)

The food was excellent, very creative. A wonderful experience. The industrial culture ambience creates a unique atmosphere. The staff was extremely courteous and was able to provide very good information about the dishes and wines. The wine selection was also very good. We had the impression that the service was a bit stressed or poorly organized. Instead of initially offering an aperitif and pointing out the starter we had already ordered, as agreed with us as hosts, the cards were handed out straight away. Some guests were provided with the wine they ordered, others only upon request.

The food was very good; the portion size was good. A bit too big for us. The service was very attentive and very friendly. The “old” walls in the casino are impressive and you can sit comfortably under the oversized concrete pillars. We felt very comfortable there.

This Sunday we celebrated our summer party at the Bären-Apotheken Neumühl and Holten at Casino Zollverein with 40 guests. The brunch buffet was exquisite and varied. We felt very well looked after and happy. Thank you for the flawless organization of the event and a great atmosphere in a special ambience.

We decided relatively spontaneously to visit the Zollverein Casino and were very impressed by both the food and the overall atmosphere. The wine was very good, we liked the menu. The restaurant was busy, but the service was quite quick.

We were there on 8/14/24. The restaurant has a nice ambience and the service was great too. The main courses and dessert were very tasty. Definitely coming back.
