We visited the Landgasthaus Brandenburg today, Boxing Day. The food was good as always, with huge portions, but unfortunately, we were still very disappointed with our visit. We had reserved a table back in October for 2.5 hours. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were told we only had 1.5 hours, as the table was reserved again afterward. They said they had tried to contact us by phone. We traveled a long way specifically to enjoy a cozy Christmas dinner together, but instead, we had to rush and couldn't enjoy our time. This wasn't our first visit to the Landgasthaus Brandenburg, but it will probably be our last.

We were a group of 10 at the Landgasthaus Brandenburg and everyone was completely satisfied. We received a warm welcome upon arrival. The waiters were very friendly, attentive, and always quick to respond, even when the restaurant was busy. The service was fast and well-organized, so no one had to wait long for their food. The schnitzels deserve special mention: huge portions, delicious, and with a wide variety of options – there really was something for everyone. The side dishes were also fresh and tasty. The value for money is excellent, especially considering the generous portions and high quality. We all felt very comfortable and had a wonderful time. An absolute gem! We heard about this restaurant through a tip and were so glad we tried it. The "Schnitzelchen" (little schnitzels) were actually regular-sized schnitzels, and the taste was simply fantastic. We'll definitely be going back. Come hungry, and don't worry if you can't finish everything. That's perfectly normal here.

Everything was absolutely fantastic, our second time here with family from Spain. The food was delicious as always. Sorry, but I really don't understand many of the negative reviews here; it's probably because Michelin critics are only part-timers. I've been a chef and head chef for 19 years, and I find some of the negative reviews incomprehensible. Don't let them get you down, keep up the good work! Best regards

We visited the country inn for the first time today. We were inspired by the pictures. The staff was super friendly. The portions were manageable... if you have binoculars with you. Haha... No... Mega portions! So we made the rookie mistake of ordering an appetizer, which was also delicious. The schnitzel and the cordon bleu were so big that we even shared the leftovers. All in all, if you like schnitzel, you'll be in heaven here... The price-performance ratio is a bit unbalanced. Haha... You get too much for your money.

I came here on a recommendation, and it won't be my last visit. Known for large portions, even the small schnitzel is a generous portion. The three schnitzels with my choice of toppings were all delicious. The salad plate was very well-stocked. All this at fair prices with friendly service. Thank you, it was a lovely evening.

Very good food, in summer in the beer garden and in winter in the restaurant roast goose with red cabbage and dumplings with delicious 😋 sauce, for €32.90 very reasonable, in our opinion.

Phew – our friends have been to your restaurant several times, but this was our first visit. The value for money is truly excellent! The schnitzel and fries were nice and crispy, the vegetables weren't quite to my taste, but the small salad snack was very tasty. We'd especially like to commend the exceptionally attentive and friendly service. We also really appreciated being able to take the leftovers home in containers. However, we do have to deduct a point for the ambiance: it was quite noisy, making conversation difficult. But that's definitely not a reason not to come back. Overall, a very successful visit – we'll gladly return!

We went there today for the first time in ages and ordered two schnitzels and a currywurst with fries, as usual, to go. They told us the kitchen was very busy and it would take a while. No problem, we waited patiently outside and ordered two drinks. So far, so good. However, what we unpacked at home was practically inedible. The schnitzels were as soft as soggy toast. It wasn't like that before. The currywurst was absolutely terrible. It went straight in the bin. We stuck with the fries. In short: Three portions of fries and a pile of garbage for €75. We'll never be going back there. What a shame! It used to be a good place.

A must-visit when we're passing through Essen. Fabulous schnitzels, huge and with a wide selection of toppings. And if you can't finish them, they'll bring a doggy bag for takeout. Highly recommended! But it's best to book because it's not easy to find a table.

I was at the Landgasthaus Brandenburg today and ordered the Schnitzel Potpourri. The food was simply fantastic! The portion was generous, and the various schnitzel variations on the plate were all delicious. The quality of the meat was excellent and the preparation was perfect. Amazing place to enjoy traditional food! The schnitzels are delicious and served in generous portions. The XL is absolutely huge. I had mine with Béarnaise sauce 🤪🤪🤪 and it was pure heaven. Next time I’ll have the sauce separate. We also really enjoyed the cozy atmosphere. 🔼One small suggestion: for the people with allergies for dust and smoke, it would be even nicer if the outdoor seating had separate areas for smokers and non-smokers.

I was there for the first time about 15 years ago, and what can I say... Quality prevails, and the country inn is still there. If you want to eat good schnitzel—and a LOT of it—this is the place for you. The meat is cooked incredibly tender, you can choose your own toppings (e.g., pepper sauce), and you can also order side dishes. Our service today made the evening perfect. We were served what was probably the biggest schnitzel of my life: a huge plate full of crispy pork schnitzel, topped with fried onions, mushrooms, and four fried eggs. The breading was golden yellow and crispy, the meat juicy and tender, and the side dishes were flavorful and plentiful. The portions here are truly more than generous—be sure to come hungry. The service was friendly, and the atmosphere was typically cozy and rustic. If you like hearty German cuisine in XXL format, this is the place for you.

Word had been around for a while about how large the portions were and how good the food was, so I had to go. The wait wasn't long, but finding a parking space was quite difficult. Other than that, I can say it was delicious. (Of course, I didn't finish everything, but they give you a pizza box so you can take the leftovers home with you.)

Hello, the schnitzels are delicious. I had the schnitzel potpourri plate with this selection: Baked ham and cheese, Hawaiian, Bernaise sauce (fresh mushrooms and fried Bernaise sauce). A paradise for schnitzel lovers!

The positives are the large schnitzels and the reasonably friendly service (the young staff were particularly friendly). "Relatively friendly" because the man on the phone when we made our reservation over the phone was very unfriendly. But we thought that might happen on a stressful day. However, the same irritated person was there. About the ambiance: I've seen nicer chip shops. It seems unkempt, run-down, and unloved. It doesn't have any "old pub charm" or anything like that. Unfortunately, it's really not a pleasant place to sit.

Haus Brandenburg is a must for every schnitzel lover. Service was super nice and polite. Price performance is unbeatable. Portions indescribable. In two words describe "HAMMER GOOD" The way it looks in the photos is how it tastes. Simply delicious

We were actually in good spirits: The (small!) schnitzel was surprisingly large, crispy, and truly delicious. The waiters were also very friendly and attentive – the atmosphere pleasant. Unfortunately, the asparagus dish arrived – and with it the problem. The asparagus was noticeably too hard when first served. After a polite complaint, a new plate was brought – but the asparagus was again undercooked. Upon inquiry, it was explained that they serve it "al dente." That may be a matter of taste, but with a classic asparagus dish, many guests – like me – expect tender, cooked asparagus. It was especially unfortunate that my second complaint was not addressed in a solution-oriented manner. Instead of a concession, there was only an explanation – and in the end, the full bill. Overall: The cuisine has potential, but there is still room for improvement when it comes to dealing with justified criticism.

Hier ist es einfach gigantisch. Deftiges Essen gibt es in rustikalem Ambiente. Hier ist allerdings etwas Selbstdisziplin nötig, sonst isst man einfach zu viel. Die Größe der kleinen Schnitzel ist schon groß und das Mitnehmpaket reicht bei mir für den nächsten Tag. Mein persönlicher Tipp: das Potpourri aus drei Schnitzeln. Dann wird es bestimmt nicht eintönig.

Very friendly service. The schnitzel selection is huge and so are the schnitzels. As a vegetarian you are out of place here, but what can you do when your friends are meat eaters 😜 For me there was a vegetable casserole, which was also really tasty 😋👍 The volume level alone was a challenge.

3XL schnitzel for a small hunger. Absolutely gigantic. Actually impossible to do alone. I ate the large schnitzel with my son. But there was still something left. The side dish, aka fries for €4.50, is generally too expensive. But ok, for once... Beer garden available. A little more rustic inside. Nevertheless, everything was well maintained. Team is very hard working and friendly. Parking spaces are rather poor. But you can find something nearby. We'll definitely come back again.

The cola tasted like "overturned" syrup. The very business-friendly dosage couldn't make it any better. I left it after a sip. Ok, “schnitzel paradise” - you actually assume that there are real schnitzels there. I didn't choose the restaurant, but was tempted to leave immediately when I saw the menu: "Vienna Art"?!? A schnitzel paradise should actually have a “Wiener Schnitzel” (veal instead of pork) on the menu. Demand - none. If I hadn't been accompanied, I would definitely have left at this point after the drinks and the chip shop menu. I ordered a large salad. That came too and when I had the first sheet on my fork and picked up the bread, I saw a chipped edge of about 2x2cm from the plate smiling at me underneath. Whether it was fresh or from some time ago... it's not comprehensible and it's not something I want to find out from a sensory perspective on a salad with yoghurt dressing. I complained about it and was initially told “it could happen”. True. Just. My then closer look over the table showed: 2 out of 4 plates had such severe flaws - reaction: fussing - "I can ask in the kitchen if that happened before" - O.o? Please? What's the point of something like that? Did the chef take photos of the plates to document their museum-worthy condition? Statement from me: "Then you throw them away and get new ones." The answer to that was: “They don’t exist anymore.” "The salad can be completely gone, I'm served and out!" Apparently they found the "good china" somewhere, because after 7-10 minutes a new salad arrived, which I let go back unseen. After the goats I can't eat anything there anymore. I also complained about the cola, a small sample sip, at this point. The waiter's comment: "It can't be right" - what an impudence... in the end I must have imagined it. My conclusion: If you don't value quality, I recommend the Landgasthaus Brandenburg. The selling point is apparently the rectangular (!!!) giant schnitzel with battered breading, i.e. quantity instead of quality. It's better to get your food from the chip shop or real pub food. You get real gastronomic prizes for wobbly plastic garden chairs and plates that feel like they survived the war. In the 90s in the East that would have been ok.

We were allowed to be guests at the Brandenburg Landgasthaus today! The food was great, super tender meat and the portions, you don't need to say anything about that. It goes without saying that if you can't make it, you'll be given packing material to take with you! The service was exceptionally friendly, they even took the time to put together a meal 😉👍🏻. The country inn is rustic but clean. It should also be mentioned that we were called back when we wanted to order the table but no one was there yet. The Landgasthaus Brandenburg is the perfect place for everyone who loves large and delicious schnitzels! Particularly known for its generous portions, this time I chose the Schnitzel Potpourri. You get three schnitzels, which are described as “small” but would easily pass as regular schnitzels in other restaurants. The special thing: Each schnitzel can be topped individually! The selection of toppings is impressive: from classic sauces such as gypsy sauce, mushroom cream sauce, pepper cream sauce or paprika cream sauce to baked versions with ham and cheese, tomato and cheese or broccoli with Béarnaise sauce - there is something for every taste here. Specialties such as the Brandenburg schnitzel (fresh mushrooms, braised onions and fried egg) or the Béarnaise schnitzel (fresh mushrooms gratinated with Béarnaise sauce) are also particularly interesting. I decided on a colorful mix and was thrilled with all the variations! Ambiance & Service The restaurant is cozy, although a bit old. The table decoration is rustic, but it fits with the country inn charm. The plates were partly damaged, but since they are large and heavy, this is probably due to long-term use - but of course this has no influence on the taste. Price-performance I paid €30.20 for my Schnitzel Potpourri and a Cola Zero - an absolutely fair price for the huge portion and the quality of the food. Tip: Be sure to reserve in advance as the restaurant is very busy! Conclusion If you're looking for really good schnitzels in XXL size and with a huge selection of toppings, you've come to the right place. The Landgasthaus Brandenburg impresses with its taste, portion size and fair prices. There are small deductions for the slightly worn furnishings and the damaged plates - but the food makes up for it all!
