Gaststätte Warsteiner Stiefel in Essen

Our bowling alley, booked and confirmed two months ago, was rented out to someone else. The owner was uncooperative. As a group of 12, we were left helpless. We ate elsewhere. Bowling was unfortunately impossible anywhere. We'd been coming for four years. Not anymore.

Warning: Do not go there!!! Absolutely not recommended! We booked a bowling lane, and they simply gave it to someone else. They probably just wanted to lure us in for a meal. Not reputable!

It was really great! I was there yesterday for the first time and the steak was amazing.

Very cozy. The food was very good, and the service was friendly.

The restaurant is cozy, the service is fast, and the food is okay (although the mixed grill didn't include gyros, kebab, or liver). Beware! Check your bill. We were overcharged for two drinks: a large beer and a glass of wine (around €10). That's no way to keep customers!

Unfortunately, the staff doesn't speak German. That's not a problem at first. But exchanging incorrectly delivered drinks and then demanding the wrong one is downright cheeky. Beer glasses were sometimes only two-thirds full. The food (grilled plate): meat was mushy and tough. The schnitzel was a deep-fried convenience food. All in all: the price-performance ratio is outrageous. Not recommended.

We went there for the first time and were really impressed, the food was so good, I personally can cook, the service is top notch, they put so much effort into satisfying each guest... otherwise Croatians are known for that... the prices are so reasonable... kudos to this team and keep it up ✌️👏

This was our second time visiting the newly opened Warsteiner Stiefel with friends, and we were absolutely thrilled! The food is outstanding: incredibly delicious, fresh, and of excellent quality. The prices are absolutely fair, and the service is warm and attentive. The new hostess won us over with her passion for cooking and hospitality. We had a wonderful evening and can wholeheartedly recommend the restaurant.

The restaurant's ambiance was perfect for families or a meal with friends. The staff and chef were very friendly and attentive. The food was well-cooked, and the meat was perfectly seared. The portions were just right—not too big, not too small—and you'll definitely be filling. We paid around €30 per person for drinks, a main course, and dessert. You have to reserve in advance to be sure of getting a table. We will definitely be back again.

I went to dinner at the Warsteiner Stiefel with a friend today, and I have to say: A lot has really changed! I've known the place for a long time, and since the new owner, everything has simply gotten a thousand times better. You can immediately see that someone is really making an effort; everything looks more modern, well-kept, and inviting. The food was excellent, fresh, and truly delicious, and the service was super friendly and attentive. We had a very pleasant evening in a great atmosphere. I can highly recommend the Warsteiner Stiefel; a visit is definitely worth it!

I wanted to celebrate my wedding anniversary at the Warsteiner Schuhe restaurant and paid €1,500 in advance as a deposit. Unfortunately there was a death in the family, which is why I had to cancel the celebration. Despite canceling early, my money was not refunded. Instead, I was blocked by the operator when I tried to contact to clarify the matter. He demanded proof of the death from me, called me a liar and failed to treat me with any respect. After several unsuccessful attempts to reach him and talk to him like a human being, he owed me the money. During my on-site visit I also saw that people were smoking in the kitchen - which is completely unacceptable from a hygienic point of view. I find the operator's behavior and behavior to be disrespectful and dubious. If I do not receive clarification and reimbursement in this way, I will be forced to take legal action.

We were at Schnitzel Day with friends. The meal was excellent. We'd love to come back.

Very friendly service. The ambiance in the back is rustic, yet bright and friendly. The front area is a lovely, cozy pub. And most importantly, the food is excellent. Whether German or Mediterranean, it's simply top-notch.

The tablecloth was dirty. The cutlery was completely worn and stained. The salad buffet at 5 p.m., when the restaurant opened, only contained a few slices of tomatoes and cucumbers. From the day before? The food was poor in quality and taste, and lukewarm to cold. You had to search for the meat under the sauce, the piece was so small. All the side dishes were ready-made and frozen. Almost 20 euros for a meal like this is definitely unacceptable!

We were greeted very friendly and served very courteously. The drinks were tapped and served well and traditionally. The food was freshly prepared and very tasty, combined with perfect service. All in all very enjoyable and an enrichment for Katernberg. I give it 3*** here. But I'm not the Michelin Guide.

Our family meal today was once again excellent in terms of quality and price. We had goose leg and goose breast with red cabbage and dumplings. Plus a super delicious baked apple. The other dishes were also very, very tasty. We will do this again soon. A big congratulations to the entire team ❤️❤️❤️

We have been to Wahrsteiner Boots many times and have always been very satisfied. Today the food was exceptional. Goose breast and goose leg were excellent. We are always happy to see the boss of the house and his friendly staff again.

We were there on a Tuesday, which is always schnitzel day there. The food was OK, even if not outstanding. The atmosphere is rustic, probably some regulars too. The service is very friendly, the chef is in personal dialogue with the guests, something you rarely experience! There's a nightcap on the house to say goodbye, but be careful! Way too tasty, don't drink too much of it!

Today we were there with 14 people. It took about 45 minutes for all drinks to be served. After ordering the food, we were told that there was only one steak available. So the meal had to be rescheduled. Some dishes were not served as ordered. For example, there were fries even though you didn't want them. The food itself was good as usual. Immediately afterwards it was said that there was no more Cola Zero. After we ordered dessert we were informed that there were no more cherries. After two rounds of nightcaps, there was no one left clear. The waiter replied that we had already had 22 grains. “Ruhrpott Whiskey” was advertised to us as 45%. When we tried it, we realized that we had been served Amaretto. I went to the waitress who served us the alcoholic drinks and confronted her. He showed me two empty bottles and one with a hint of “Ruhrpott Whiskey”. He claimed he would have served it to us. I had to ask him if he thought I was color blind. I can really overlook some things. But that's where the fun ends. I also had the 5 whiskeys on the bill. Apparently 14 people ate all the steaks and cherries and drank all the liquor and coke. There were around 30 guests with us today and it looks like they don't have anything left. I would like to remember that today is Saturday! I'm curious what else will be served on Sunday? At least they were very well stocked with mayo packets. Bon appetit.

A nice team and really good home-style food, at reasonable prices in a pleasant atmosphere awaits the guest. Nice for a successful evening with pub character. There is also a bowling alley for “sporty” beer (I didn’t test it myself). Even larger groups can be well looked after after registration.

It was really bombastic, it's a bit like being at home. You feel welcome and not just a paying guest. I had visitors from Dresden and they were also thrilled

I was at Warsteiner Boots for the first time today and all in all I thought it was very good there. The food was delicious and the price-performance ratio was reasonable. The restaurant is a good address for visitors to the Zollverein Coal Mine. It is only 5 minutes away by car from there.

When we asked, we ordered some food to pick up and it was really very good. Authentic, down-to-earth cuisine with a Yugoslavian-inspired menu. The food was even brought to our car - what more could you want. It's also nice to hear that the business has been around for so long and has been taken over very well. We ate there with friends who recommended this place to us. The food was good, the staff was very friendly. The chef, who was also the boss of the restaurant, came to our table personally and asked if everything was OK. And gave out a round of aperitifs. The price for the food was also OK. I can recommend this restaurant to everyone. We would be happy to come back on our next stay in Essen an der Ruhr.

After a long, long time we were there again for the VdK AGM. So it wasn't a regular operation as it was actually a rest day, but it was great. Very nice service and the food was super tasty. The new owner, who was and is also a top chef, has mastered his craft perfectly. If you like good home cooking you will find it here. I can only recommend the boots

We were here for the first time today. We really liked it! Finally a down-to-earth, authentic restaurant with Yugoslavian cuisine without chichi near us. The food was very tasty, fresh and plentiful. The chef also came to the table personally and was able to immediately serve special requests for our son - great! We would particularly like to praise the extremely attentive and friendly service. We felt very comfortable and are now coming more often :-).

I eat out a lot, in a variety of places... But since the new owner, Emir, took over the Warsteiner Boots last year, I don't go out to eat anywhere else. The food is incredibly delicious...the plates are always beautifully prepared and the staff are simply fantastic and friendly. It has become my absolute favorite restaurant. The Warsteiner Boots is my first stop if I want to eat first-class food in a beautiful, rustic atmosphere. The chef responds to all of his guests' wishes. What particularly stands out is the ever-changing and artistic plate decoration. The meat is always buttery soft. Talented chefs who conjure up their love for their profession on every plate. Dessert platters for larger groups that fulfill every sweet wish, sometimes as a surprise. The soups are also impressive! The service is really great. Attentive and courteous. Hopefully I will spend many more lovely evenings here.

With a little creativity, a good meal even for vegetarians. Friendly service and moderate prices. Gladly again.

Today we spontaneously ate there with friends for the first time. The dishes were very tasty and the portions were so large that we even took some home with us. The service was also very good, the grill plate for 2 people was personally served by the chef. Drinks came very quickly after ordering. We can only recommend this restaurant and would eat there again at any time.

We've known the restaurant for a long time. Recently a new host with a new menu. Beer selection has remained. The food looks great, the taste is still good, but the price is good. Unfortunately, the great waitresses are no longer there, which is a problem and also the communication. But the employees are all friendly.

Had food today. My grill plate was not recommended. There was a piece of grilled sausage on it that was fried to death, a breaded schnitzel and a small piece of chicken breast, also breaded, which was so dry that you couldn't eat it. I don't want to describe the other thing too, it was easy Just disappointing. We ate there before Christmas and also had the grill plate in contrast to today. My conclusion no next time, my criticism wasn't accepted either.

After our first attempt, which was good, this time we experienced the following: Too few staff: no service, sitting forever in front of empty glasses, forever waiting for drinks and food. Food wasn't good: the sauce was too salty and it was "mush". Grill plate didn't taste good either, carelessly packed on the plate. Nobody even came to the table to pay, so it wasn't cleared away either. We definitely won't go there again. It's a shame, because the first attempt was very positive.

We were there on Boxing Day. There was a special Christmas card. The food was good, the portions were ok, the service was friendly and prompt. However, you needed cash, we weren't prepared for that, so we pooled our cash and had to forego dessert because otherwise it wouldn't have been enough. The ambience has remained unchanged for many years, but it certainly has charm. The boss personally came to the table and asked if everything was OK and had a nightcap brought. We'll be back and will report again.

Sehr netter Empfang und sehr gutes Essen. Habe auch schon des öfteren Essen bestellt und mit nach Hause genommen. Auch vor Ort im Restaurant ein tolles Ambiente. War sehr zufrieden mit dem Personal und der Küche. Gutes ausreichendes Angebot an Gerichten. Der Schnitzeltag ist sehr zu empfehlen.

Lange warte Zeiten aufs Essen, Personal total überfordert. Kellnerin machte sich die haar in der Küche und der andere Kellner telefoniert einfach ,obwohl man eine Cola bestellte . Schnitzel war nicht durch und Soße schmeckt nach pulver .pommes matschig. Schnitze wurde umgetauscht und direkt bekam man ein neues ,dieses war verbrannt . Restaurant war sehr dreckig und überall kaputte Wände, Lampen etc. Das Männer wc war alt dreckig und die Toilette war dreckig ,Kot und Urin Reste dran . Als man den hygienische Mängel des wc aufmerksam machte ,reagiert man was soll man machen und wir sind zu wenig an Personal, heute waren 7 Personen im Laden zum Bedien und kochen . Definitiv nicht nochmal .

Personal gibt falsche Informationen zum Angebot Erst bestellt man Klöse, mitten in der Zubereitung wird gesagt es gibt keine Klöse man muss sich zum Sauerbraten mit Kroketten zufrieden geben. Sauerbraten kommt ohne Kroketten zum Tisch dann kriegt man gesagt es gibt doch Klöse dauert jetzt nur etwas. 15minuten um genau zu sein Ende vom Lied Sauerbraten wird Kalt und auf die Klöse wartet man zu lange, was das Essen ungenießbar macht. Anderes Thema Getränke. Es wurden so viele Fehler mit Getränken an einem Abend gemacht. Es wurden Getränke vergessen Es werden falsche Getränke gebracht wo man dann mit dem Personal diskutieren muss, was nach dem dritten mal sehr unangenehm war. Man muss sehr lange auf seine Getränke warten Auf Nachfrage wo die Getränke bleiben kriegt man die Antwort Getränke sind an einem anderen Tisch gelandet und wartet weitere 5 minuten. Nicht noch einmal. Danke!

Das Essen war gut, aber nichts besonderes. Gängige, nicht besondere Qualität. Wir waren zum "Schnitzeltag" da. So kostete ein Schnitzelgericht mit Beilage und Salat 12,50€; also akzeptabel. Normalerweise ist das sonst 5€ teurer. Der Kellner war leider ein wenig überfordert. Lag aber daran das eine Kollegin kurzfristig ausgefallen ist.

Nettes Personal und gutes Essen.

Das Essen war köstlich. Für 4 Personen mehr als ausreichendes Essen gewesen. Zudem war die Bedienung erstklassig. Wiederempfehleswert. Freue mich schon auf das nächste Mal. PS. : Der Chef ist der beste.

Wir wahren heute das erste Mal bei dem neuen Inhaber und würden bitter enttäuscht.Das Essen wahr schlicht und ergreifend eine Frechheit.Der Kellner war völlig überfordert. Sehr schade.Bisher war es immer unser Lieblingslokal. Die Betonung liegt auf war.

Wir waren am 27.10.23 essen bzw.wir wollten essen.Kellnerin sehr Nett.Sehr aufmerksam. Das Essen zum vergessen. Grillteller,verbrannte cevapcici, Olle Mettwurst.was hat die beim Grillteller zu suchen,genauso Panierte Pilze.Fleisch?Fehlanzeige. Es ist wirklich nicht zu empfehlen.

Die Kellner waren total überfordert, nach zwei Std warten immer noch kein Essen bekommen.

Nicht empfehlenswert. Haben 1,5 Stunden aufs Essen gewartet und mussten uns dann sagen lassen, es dauert überall so lange. Cola steht in der Karte mit 0,3 l drin, meine Tochter bekam ein Glas mit 0,2. Essen war nur lauwarm.

Hatten totales Glück 🍀 noch 4 Mal Essen bekommen, obwohl Küche schon mit Putzen bekommen hatte. Dankeschön 🙂☺️Die Schnitzel sind echt zu empfehlen.

Essen Trocken, Service war schlecht uns wurde nicht gesagt das der Salat vom Büffet geholt werden muss.

Leckeres Essen, super Ambiente und sehr freundliche Bedienung. Wir hatten hier einen perfekten Kegel Abend.

Dienstag ist Schnitzeltag, Donnerstag ist Pfannkuchen-Tag. Und jedesmal ist Stauder-Tag! Gut und günstig.

Das Essen war super lecker. Das war das aller Wichtigste. Die Schnitzel wurden frisch zubereitet (man hat es "klopfen" gehört ;-)) Die Inhaberin war sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich. Sie hat uns noch allgemeine Tipps für unser Wochenende gegeben. Preis-Leistung absolut top! Klare Empfehlung!
