A beautiful, long-established restaurant in the heart of Schwerte. The service is incredibly warm and welcoming, and you immediately feel like you've been a regular for ten years.

An authentic gem of German gastronomy The Pferdekämper Gaststätte, located at Ostenstraße 11 in Schwerte, is one of those places that seem frozen in time. It has been run for over 40 years by a wonderful Serbian woman, over 80 years old, gorgeous, with a style and a friendliness that wins you over from the first moment. With her joy, she personally serves all the guests, and although she now only takes drink orders, her presence fills the restaurant with warmth. The food is excellent. Their specialty is schnitzel (breaded cutlets or steaks), freshly prepared—you can hear the meat being pounded before frying—and served in various versions, both pork and beef, all crispy and flavorful. They also offer typical German dishes: sausages, cured meats, stews, and broths, all exquisite. As soon as we sat down, we were surprised with a welcome soup with beans, chorizo, and pancetta: delicious and offered as a gift from the house. At the end, when we couldn't take it anymore, they brought us crepes filled with raspberry jam, also courtesy of the restaurant. And if that weren't enough, when we paid, the owner gave us small jars of Schwerter Senfmühle mustard and even gave me some extras to take back to Spain. The experience was wonderful from beginning to end. An authentic, warm place, full of details that remain unchanged by time, and with surprisingly low prices. Eating like this, with such good service, for around €25, is almost unbelievable. I recommend anyone in the area make a detour to this restaurant: it's absolutely worth it 👌🏻

A very special place; we stumbled upon it by chance. It's a mix of a cozy pub and a restaurant. We ordered Posthalter Schnitzel and Pleskavica, both with extra salad. The owner recommended a Serbian bean soup as a welcome gift from the kitchen...super delicious. The soup had a hearty filling and came with warm bread... After our meal, which was truly delicious, we each got a small piece of strawberry cake with cream, also on the house...then two delicious little fruit schnapps, and to top it all off, we were given two small jars of mustard from the Schwerter Senfmühle when we paid. Although she certainly knew we were just "tourists" and probably wouldn't be coming back anytime soon...hospitality that was second to none. If we ever pass by again (as RVers), we'll definitely be back. Thank you so much for this special evening with lovely and special regulars.

A very special restaurant! As soon as we walked in, it was different from the restaurants you're used to. It's relatively dark inside and very simply, yet somehow quite quaintly and cozy. The owner greeted us right away. As a welcome from the kitchen, we were given a Serbian bean soup to try (delicious). We then ordered a schnitzel pan with egg and a pleskavica filled with feta cheese, each with a salad plate. Everything tasted good and was plentiful. Afterwards, we also received (from the house): 2 slices of strawberry cake, 2 fruit brandies, and 2 small glasses of various mustards 😳 .... Our bill later only showed our 2 meals and the 2 drinks we ordered! You really don't see that anymore. Over the course of the evening, several (presumably local) men joined us at the bar, and it was a pleasant atmosphere with lively conversations. It's great that places like this still exist 👍🏼 For an evening we'll remember forever, 5 ⭐, thank you

Highly recommended! Absolutely friendly and personable staff, great food! There was a soup as a starter and a crepe as a dessert free of charge with each dish and a small thank you from the Schwerter Mustard Mill!!! I am absolutely thrilled! The only thing I would like as a smoker is an ashtray in the entrance area;) Many thanks to the entire team for this successful evening!

One of the oldest restaurants, the schnitzels are super delicious! Everything is very quaint and loving. Highly recommended!

Best schnitzel in Schwerte. Thanks for the hospitality to the nice owner. As an obvious “clean” person, I was greeted very friendly and asked what I would like to eat. 2 minutes later the schnitzel hammer knocks in the kitchen. Rustic atmosphere, very attentive service. Schnitzel was tender and crispy. Add chanterelles and hash browns. I missed a lemon or cranberry jam but otherwise it was great. The salad beforehand was also very good, but the iceberg has seen better days. Gladly again! Great experience!

We were there in the evening. The restaurant is known for its large portions. We had the grill plate. There is a starter soup, the main course with salad and ice cream for dessert. When you pay you get a give away, a small jar of Schwerte mustard. Simply unbeatable for the price. This is certainly one of the reasons for the predominantly good reviews. My personal opinion is that the grill plate with the salad would have been enough for me, but I would have liked the meat to be of better quality. The views and tastes are just different

We were eating there with several people over the last few days. When we first came in I was very skeptical, some of the Christmas decorations were still hanging. The food was 1a, very large portions at good prices. The owner was very nice. We had to wait a bit, but everything is freshly prepared and you can still hear the schnitzels being made. Definitely coming back

Our Cica is the A&O ..... delicious food ... always in a good mood and an open ear for everyone ♥️ ... once a month we go bowling there and eat delicious food .... gestures had delicious asparagus .... as always super tasty...

A restaurant with Serbian and German cuisine. The dishes are delicious and generously portioned, the landlady is very welcoming and the atmosphere is rustic. It's always worth asking about the daily specials, such as pepperpot thast, grilled knuckle or goose.

Unglaublich das es so was noch gibt. Das Essen und die Preise sehr gut. Eine Gaststätte wie in den guten alten Zeiten. So was muss man am Leben erhalten.

Gaaaanz köstliches Essen. Tolles, gemütliches Ambiente. Alles wie früher. Sehr nette Inhaber und das Personal ist sehr freundlich und herzlich. Ich fühlte mich sehr willkommen und war nach einen so guten Essen mit Vorspeise und Nachspeise (Überraschung) und netten, kleinen Geschenken (Give aways) glücklich. Schön, das ich jetzt ein neues Restaurant gefunden habe, um gut Essen zugehen.

Ja so ganz nettes Lokal aber die Speisekarte ist ein bisschen aber das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ist gut und der Rest ist auch super Essen war wunderbar

Wir sind öfters hier Essen und finden das Ambiente, die Wirtin mit ihrem Personal und das Essen Klasse! Das können wir gern Weiterempfehlen!

Mit viel schnickschnack kann Pferdekämper nicht dienen aber wer leckeres, schnell gezapftes Bier, köstlichstes Essen und eine leidenschaftliche Wirtin zu schätzen weiß, fühlt sich hier richtig wohl! Die Preise sind absolut fair. Außerdem ist die Kegelbahn keine enge Kammer sondern ein angenehm großer Raum, wo man gemütlich mit bis zu 30 Leuten kegeln kann.

Das Lokal wirkt in der Zeit stehengeblieben. Es wirkt eher wie eine Kneipe. Der Service ist wirklich ausgesprochen nett. Das Essen aber ist mega lecker! Ich habe selten so gut gegessen. Ein absoluter Geheimtipp zu super fairen Preisen. Danke für den tollen Abend!

Das Lokal, das Essen, die Wirtin. Das alles gehört zu Schwerte wie Sankt Viktor. Hier muss man mal gegessen und getrunken haben.

Gestern Abend nach der Kirmes spontan eingekehrt. Freundlich, herzlich, gemütlich und sauber. Das Schnitzel und der Pfefferpotthast waren klasse 👍. Vorweg eine Kürbiscremesuppe und als Nachtisch einen Palatschinken, mega👌. Der warme Slivovitz von der alten Dame rundet alles ab. Traditionelle, gutbürgerliche äusserst schmackhafte Küche. Sehr freundliches aufmerksames Personal. In jedem Fall ein Besuch wert.
