Very good customer service, superb nice food and ambience is perfect. We ate pork knuckles, schnitzel and some kind of dumpling which was interesting in a good way. French onion soup was heartwarming for the cold outside and the hot chocolate is amazing. The staff helped me put the whip cream aside for the hot chocolate and gave our family a seat which was not too near the entrance, so thank you to the manager and friendly staffs. Highly recommended!

I visited on November 6th around 3 PM. The food was incredibly delicious, and there wasn’t a single thing I didn’t like. It was much better than any of the famous restaurants in Frankfurt. All the staff were friendly, but especially the tall, handsome man who served us—he spoke English well and was very impressive! We had a lovely lunch at Palmbräu Gasse! The pork knuckle was delicious—crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I paired it with a glass of red wine, which complemented the meal perfectly. The staff were incredibly attentive when we mentioned we were gluten and dairy-free. They took great care to ensure everything was safe for us, even down to checking the mustard, and the chef himself came over to confirm the details with us. Though it’s not a dedicated gluten-free restaurant, we felt well-cared-for and had no issues afterward. It’s a welcoming spot with great food, and we highly recommend it for a delightful lunchtime experience!

Everything was fine except for my food. I had a rump steak with fried potatoes. The fried potatoes tasted burnt and the rump steak had rind and was soggy and it came through even though I had ordered medium. It was the worst rump steak I've ever eaten. The other people who were with me and had different dishes were satisfied.

The restaurant is located in the center with many foreign tourists. I was impressed by the cozy space and the menu in many different languages. The pork dish has a very crispy skin on the outside, and the meat inside is super soft, it goes very well with mustard. The waitress was friendly. However, she asked us directly about tipping her. As far as I know, it is not mandatory by law here. After we did not tip, she left with an angry attitude. We were very shocked and will not come back to this place again.

The Palmbräu Gasse restaurant offers a cozy atmosphere and a good selection of food and drinks. The service was friendly and attentive. The food was good and the prices are absolutely reasonable for Heidelberg city center. We had made reservations in advance for five people, which made sense as the restaurant was busy. Overall, a pleasant visit that can be recommended.

The food and the atmosphere in a dimly lit mideaval style hall was amazing. The place to go for authentic Bavarian food. There was hardly a wait on the food... However....sometimes a little bit of a wait is OK, especially if it's busy and if it saves the staff from freaking out. The waitresses that served us were busting there balls...and getting the job done....! However they were very impatient when you ordered, and cut me off my order twice...wanting to quickly assume what we wanted...and getting it a bit wrong in the process.They rudely questioned and told us we were ordering too much, even though we were clearly tourists and didnt know what to expect..you could tell they were stressed as f!! And while I understand that might be what you have to do to get the job done....as a customer we felt like they didn't want us there...and I frankly felt guilty for giving them more work....and made us feel rushed and uncomfortable in the process. It may have been a shortage of staff problem, and I don't take it personally at all...I have been there!! But service shouldn't be sprinting from table to table, rushing people out the door. If it's busy and staff is low, customers (or at least the ones you want to keep) are more than happy (with communication) to wait a bit longer for their food...and staff can take their time when serving..to actually make customers feel welcome.... they might also enjoy their shift a bit more as well.

Oktoberfest is about eating knuckles. A mega knuckle really crispy and impossible to make. A great beer and the ambience is all we want. Service lives the job. Gladly again

If you want to have an authentic German meal, this is the place. The food just was not to my taste but I don’t have much to say about it. I loved the decoration of the restaurant and the service was great despite the crowdedness. It’s also situated in the heart of the altstadt.

We are still here, the food was delicious 😊 Staff is very, very friendly, 👍 should actually wait half an hour for a table. But we were offered to eat at the counter. No problem for us 🤗 if we lived nearby we would come here more often. Sitting at the bar and drinking our beer comfortably. I can only recommend the great atmosphere, 👍👍🤗🤗🤗

We loved our visit to Palmbrau Gasse. The spatzel was so good. I'm really into old buildings and was so intrigued by the old exposed brick and the curved and arched exposed timber construction. I saw so many other dishes I wanted to try if I would of had the time and the stomach to try them all.

I had the roast pork, it was fine but the red cabbage was very sour. My wife had bread dumplings in mushroom cream sauce... She left half of them. The salad that was served with it was also very sour.

The restaurant was crowded but the service and the food were really worth the wait. We revisited the second time since the pork knuckle is so good! And the beer they recommended also matched very well with the knuckle. I would recommend visiting during lunch since the knuckles will be fresh out of the oven. Definitely worth bookmarking if you would like a nice German meal.

Excellent! Had a nice home cooked crispy pork nuckle which hubby and I shared. We also ordered two sides between us - the sauerkraut and beans (green) with bacon. Shared an Apple strudel and washed everything down with a round of 0.5l of beer, a round if 0.3l , a coffee and Bailey’s for €78. Although waitress rang up the bill and wasn’t seeking a tip, we did leave one within EU standards. Excellent meal! Tip - flip knuckle over to easily access the tender and flavorful meat. If coming on a weekend, reservations are a must!

Nice atmosphere but very touristy. Very typical of old town touristy restaurants across the world. Looks authentic but food is substandard that I doubt any German would eat. My fried pork knuckle, their specialty, was ridiculously oversalted and I’m not sensitive to salt usually. My wife’s weinerschnitzel was quite good.

We were there in the afternoon around 4 p.m. (2 people). It was almost empty. The waitress initially came to us relatively quickly and took the order. The food was still very tasty (chicken slices and cheese spaetzle) and the drinks were only brought to us when we were informed. Essen war ok, aber nicht aussergewöhnlich. Die Küche ist auf Tourismus ausgerichtet. Die Bestuhlung bei den Tischen ist zu eng, so dass man kaum bequem sitzen kann. Wie gesagt, war ok aber nicht mehr und nicht weniger. Gibt sicher einige bessere Lokale im Heidelberg.

A great place if you want to try typical German food, we ordered knuckle, pork and sausages, it was all delicious. Of course, be careful with the portions, they are huge, we couldn't finish the dishes and it's a shame. The service was fantastic, the waitress spoke Spanish and the other waiters spoke English, so you won't have a problem. I don't give it five stars because they don't have a bathroom adapted for people with reduced mobility.
