Oskar - Das Wirtshaus am Markt in Bayreuth

We were there two evenings in a row in 2024 without a reservation (two people). Although the restaurant was always very busy, we got a nice seat on both evenings (I still definitely recommend making a reservation just to be on the safe side). The guests are well distributed across the individual areas and you sit in a cozy atmosphere. We really enjoyed the food. The staff was attentive and friendly and everything went at exactly the right pace - not too slow and not too fast in the sense of "processing". Bonus point: the employee at the table allocation even recognized us :)

Quaint restaurant in Bayreuth's pedestrian zone. The food is typical tavern cuisine. But vegetarians and vegans were also considered. You can also have breakfast here. The Perdonsl was super nice. Gladly again.

A cozy atmosphere in the heart of the city of Bayreuth with an extensive selection of typical dishes: the Franconian sauerbraten with delicious sauce and the pork shovel are recommended. The service is very friendly.

Fantastic food in a traditional setting. Schnitzel and cheese spaetzle were very tasty. The local beer completed the whole thing wonderfully. We would recommend the restaurant to everyone. Price performance excellent.

English version of menu provided. Though I think it could have been a little abbreviated. Strated to compare to the regular German language. Immediately noted that a separate page of daily specials was not in the English version.

The food at the Oskar Wirtshaus was really delicious, that has to be emphasized. Unfortunately the impression was greatly marred by the poor service. We had to wait 20 minutes to order drinks and another 30 minutes to be able to pay. Then three other tables in front of us were also cashed in, even though we had waited longer. What was particularly disappointing was that it was the only time so far that the waitress didn't wish us a good appetite - a small gesture that could perhaps have improved the service a little. It's a shame, because the kitchen deserves a better rating.

A very nice, large place and good service. It is usually full, it is advisable to reserve. We went on 12/24. And I loved that they offered free cava and cookies to accompany the breakfasts.

We had reserved for December 25th, 2024. Unfortunately I can't give a review of the kitchen because we didn't eat there. There was an unbearable noise around the table assigned to us where a comfortable dinner would not have been possible. We then ate in the Indian restaurant right next door in a quiet atmosphere.

Very good Bavarian food. Had English menus. Can recommend the schnitzel and sauerbraten. Beautiful historic building. It was very busy, you should make a reservation in advance. Parking can be a bit tough.

It was our first time at the Oskar and we were initially surprised that it was so big. From the outside it looked like a small inn. But the atmosphere is really inviting and the food came very quickly, even though it was busy. It was delicious and the service was great! Only to be recommended!

First time in the restaurant and we loved it! Huge inn, which doesn't look like it from the outside. Service 1A, we were seated straight away without a reservation, drinks were immediately at the table and food was also delivered quickly. Schnitzel and cheese spaetzle were really great! Actually everything is fine. But it bothers me that this is done in a Franconian inn in Upper Bavaria. Dirndls and lederhosen are actually foreign to us.

Es vergeht kein Tag an dem ich nicht an die Käsespätzle denken muss. Neben dem Essen ist die Atmosphäre auch immer wunderbar. Ich freue mich schon sehnlichst auf meine Rückkehr um hier endlich wieder essen zu können.

Rustic restaurant right in the pedestrian zone. Very tasty food, very nice service and the service is quick. If you want to stay there for longer than about 1 hour, you should make a reservation. We were there twice in the late afternoon and it was packed. According to my son, the vegan dishes also taste very good.

Despite the friendly service and the good location, I am disappointed with this inn. The dishes we ordered were all very small portions, but the price was even higher. My goulash soup barely had any meat in it. In addition, the taste reminded me of ready-to-mix soup. The small slice of meat from my sauerbraten was very dry and the sauce wasn't enough for the toilet either. I didn't think it was appropriate for the price. I'm not going here anymore.

Definitely the best restaurant in Bayreuth with a classic Bavarian menu. And beer straight from the local brewery 🍺 If you don't want Italian food, go to L'Osteria. Otherwise, definitely here, and in the evening it is quite noisy and crowded here. With each beer, the noise grows even so 👍

Amazing amazing amazing. Best roast goose I've had, with red cabbage and a soft bread kloss. The crispy skin, the hearty sauce, and the soft kloss... I will dream of this meal.

The restaurant is of course well attended on Friday evenings. The service was incredibly friendly, competent and very fast. Top quality food and drinks at a reasonable price these days. Table reservation recommended. It could be paid quickly and easily with Amex. The tip was on the bill. The restaurant has gained more new regulars. Thank you very much, keep it up.

I recently visited this great place in Bayreuth and can only say positive things! The service was extremely friendly and accommodating - the entrepreneur is really lucky to have such dedicated employees. They are quick and always have a smile, which made the stay even more pleasant. The food was freshly prepared and extremely tasty. The selection on the menu was more than sufficient, so there was something for every taste. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to Bayreuth, because this restaurant will definitely be my first address! Absolutely recommended!

Essen sehr lecker! Allerdings der beworbene "Almabtrieb" ab 23 Uhr, (Cocktails zum halben Preis ) ist schwierig, da um 22:50 schon die letzte Runde eingeläutet wird, obwohl um 24Uhr erst offiziell geschlossen wird.

SPECTACULAR I can't express it otherwise. Before a basketball game, two of us as away fans came here, were warmly greeted, got a great table in the gallery, and thanks to the quick service, we immediately had our drinks and food - WHOW! Who would think of frying white sausages in pretzel breading? SUPER. And the Zwickel beer is wonderfully drinkable. Top price-performance ratio! Congratulations on the service and kitchen team!

A popular inn in Bayreuth with really good, decent cuisine, friendly staff and a Franconian atmosphere. If you order additionally, please leave it a little relaxed in terms of price, only dumplings or fries etc. As described, it is simply popular and also well attended. We always enjoyed eating here, but the price/performance ratio is now very disappointing. Dumpling carpaccio €13.50 and somehow you really had to look for the dumpling. My companion got a “reasonable” roast for just €2-3 more. I went home hungry. 😒 Please, ask for a euro more, but these "micro portions" don't work at all.

Great property in the middle of the old town. The inn has everything you need for an entertaining evening alone or for larger groups. Since it is very busy, you may have to wait before you can sit down at a dining table. Groups over 4 people You will have bad tickets without a reservation - if necessary you can bridge the waiting time in the entrance area. The selection of vegan dishes is limited, but the food is excellent and inexpensive. The service was absolutely courteous and friendly - the working atmosphere seemed to be right despite the stress of rush hour.
