Oskar - The Wirtshaus am Markt is a great restaurant that I can highly recommend. The food is of excellent quality and the price-performance ratio is absolutely justified. The service is friendly, attentive and ensures that you as a guest feel completely comfortable. The atmosphere in the restaurant is cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxed meal. If you are looking for a good restaurant in Bayreuth, you should definitely stop by here!

Rustic restaurant right in the pedestrian zone. Very tasty food, very nice service and the service is quick. If you want to stay there for longer than about 1 hour, you should make a reservation. We were there twice in the late afternoon and it was packed. According to my son, the vegan dishes also taste very good.

Despite the friendly service and the good location, I am disappointed with this inn. The dishes we ordered were all very small portions, but the price was even higher. My goulash soup barely had any meat in it. In addition, the taste reminded me of ready-to-mix soup. The small slice of meat from my sauerbraten was very dry and the sauce wasn't enough for the toilet either. I didn't think it was appropriate for the price. I'm not going here anymore.

Definitely the best restaurant in Bayreuth with a classic Bavarian menu. And beer straight from the local brewery 🍺 If you don't want Italian food, go to L'Osteria. Otherwise, definitely here, and in the evening it is quite noisy and crowded here. With each beer, the noise grows even so 👍

Amazing amazing amazing. Best roast goose I've had, with red cabbage and a soft bread kloss. The crispy skin, the hearty sauce, and the soft kloss... I will dream of this meal.

The restaurant is of course well attended on Friday evenings. The service was incredibly friendly, competent and very fast. Top quality food and drinks at a reasonable price these days. Table reservation recommended. It could be paid quickly and easily with Amex. The tip was on the bill. The restaurant has gained more new regulars. Thank you very much, keep it up.

I recently visited this great place in Bayreuth and can only say positive things! The service was extremely friendly and accommodating - the entrepreneur is really lucky to have such dedicated employees. They are quick and always have a smile, which made the stay even more pleasant. The food was freshly prepared and extremely tasty. The selection on the menu was more than sufficient, so there was something for every taste. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to Bayreuth, because this restaurant will definitely be my first address! Absolutely recommended!

Essen sehr lecker! Allerdings der beworbene "Almabtrieb" ab 23 Uhr, (Cocktails zum halben Preis ) ist schwierig, da um 22:50 schon die letzte Runde eingeläutet wird, obwohl um 24Uhr erst offiziell geschlossen wird.

If you order additionally, please leave it a little relaxed in terms of price, only dumplings or fries etc. As described, it is simply popular and also well attended. SPECTACULAR I can't express it otherwise. Before a basketball game, two of us as away fans came here, were warmly greeted, got a great table in the gallery, and thanks to the quick service, we immediately had our drinks and food - WHOW! Who would think of frying white sausages in pretzel breading? SUPER. And the Zwickel beer is wonderfully drinkable. Top price-performance ratio! Congratulations on the service and kitchen team!

We always enjoyed eating here, but the price/performance ratio is now very disappointing. Dumpling carpaccio €13.50 and somehow you really had to look for the dumpling. My companion got a “reasonable” roast for just €2-3 more. I went home hungry. 😒 Please, ask for a euro more, but these "micro portions" don't work at all.

Super delicious food, very friendly staff, we felt very comfortable. The Schäufele was great and very plentiful. Add lots of chicken breast to the salad plate. If we're in the area again, we'll definitely come back!

Great food in a great ambience. This inn can rightly call itself the number 1 inn on the market! The prices are moderate, but the quality of the food doesn't suffer at all!

Great property in the middle of the old town. The inn has everything you need for an entertaining evening alone or for larger groups. Since it is very busy, you may have to wait before you can sit down at a dining table. Groups over 4 people You will have bad tickets without a reservation - if necessary you can bridge the waiting time in the entrance area. The selection of vegan dishes is limited, but the food is excellent and inexpensive. The service was absolutely courteous and friendly - the working atmosphere seemed to be right despite the stress of rush hour.

Very nice restaurant in the middle of Bayreuth's pedestrian zone. The food is very tasty and also plentiful. Be sure to reserve a table in advance. The only thing that isn't great are the toilets. You have to go down a very narrow spiral staircase.

The only thing that bothers me is that the portions are sometimes a bit small. The service is always nice and courteous. I think the prices are pretty exorbitant, which is why “only” four stars. Nevertheless, I really enjoy eating out here when the money is a little looser.

Has been to the Oscar several times now. This restaurant is a must for guests in Bayreuth. Unfortunately, it will be difficult for larger groups to find a place without a reservation. The staff is super friendly, helpful and also very quick. The food is good, traditional Franconian and very tasty. No matter whether breakfast, lunch or dinner. Everything was always very good. (Only the pretzels with the white sausage breakfast could be better). The ambience is very nice. The “beer garden” in the covered courtyard is something special. Gladly again!!

Wegen Einladung zum Frühstück hier gewesen, Frühstück war in Ordnung, das Rührei war frisch nach Wunsch zubereitet. Bei der meiner Frau kam das Frühstück mit Chia-Joghurt und Früchten sehr gut an und auch unsere Begleitung war mit dem "Alles Käse-Frühstück" sehr zufrieden. Die "Frische Weißwürscht mit Brez'n" waren nicht so frisch wie erwartet und in der Karte angepriesen, die Haut war vom lange oben im Sud schwimmen schon etwas ausgetrocknet und die Brezn war etwas zäh. Frühstück bekommt leider somit keine Empfehlung von mir, obwohl man dort sehr schön sitzen kann und natürlich zentral am Marktplatz ist. Als Wirtshaus für Mittagessen und Abendessen sowie als Treffpunkt für Freunde jedoch sehr empfehlenswert.

Absolutely great typically Bavarian inn. The service is top and courteous. There is something for everyone on the menu and of course a good selection of beer is also included.

An amazing place in the city center of Bayreuth. I can only recommend the wild boar loin – it was tender, juicy and full of flavour. The staff was warm and friendly, especially our waitress Lena, who made sure everything was perfect. I'll definitely be back! This place is a must when visiting Bayreuth. Oh, and if you can't walk after eating, don't worry—the wild boar didn't have a chance to escape either!

Very quaint and pretty crowded even during the week. This made it very loud, but that didn't detract from the atmosphere. It's nice that a few hikers were offered a platform on the Walz, you don't see that often anymore. Even vegetarians can get their fill here in style. And the service was funny, incredibly attentive and yet not intrusive.

Every time we travel home to Berlin on our long vacation trip, we stop here in the evening and eat there. We always look forward to it. Super friendly and fast service every time, the food is great and served really quickly and hot and the atmosphere is rustic. We'd love to come back.

A great restaurant! The service is super friendly and fast, the drinks and food come very quickly and everything tastes wonderful! Ordering a smaller portion was no problem at all. You should make a reservation, but that works wonderfully. Next time we just come here, there are still some dishes to try 👍🏻

Nice quaint inn. Drinks and food good. Only the service left something to be desired: cocktails were ordered for “happy hour” at 6:40 p.m. They came at 7:05 p.m. Complaint unsuccessful during the long waiting period. Funnily enough, things went faster after that.

We ate delicious white sausages and Kaiserschmarrn. The child was happy and full and so was I. The price was also completely reasonable for lunch. With two drinks around €25. The staff was very friendly and attentive.

Always a must when we are in Bayreuth.
