Das Wirtshaus Oskar am Marktplatz haben wir spontan über Tripadvisor entdeckt – und wurden nicht enttäuscht! Hier gibt’s richtig leckere, echte bayrische Küche in gemütlicher Atmosphäre. Die Bedienung war freundlich und aufmerksam. Besonders schön: Man kann auch draußen sitzen und das Treiben am Platz beobachten. Wir hatten eine gemischte Vorspeise, die wirklich großzügig war – ideal zum Teilen. Die Hauptgerichte wie Schäufele und Krustenbraten sahen nicht nur toll aus, sondern kamen in üppigen Portionen und waren geschmacklich top. Wer deftige bayrische Spezialitäten mag und dabei in zentraler Lage essen möchte, ist hier genau richtig. Eine klare Empfehlung für Genießer!

The food was great. The waitress was very nice and the ambience was very appropriate. The fact that all employees wear traditional costumes gives the whole thing a nice flare.

I'm actually not a big fan of breweries, but the Oskar actually convinced me and the whole family: extremely friendly and fast service, really good food - even the vegetarian in the family was happy 😋 Nice ambience and the wine was also fine, although the focus is on beer. A diverse selection for a brewery, some of which you won't find anywhere else because there are unusual combinations. Good local beer ensemble in a pleasant atmosphere. Service was very attentive, especially when card payment was canceled (probably throughout Bayreuth, forcing me to get cash), there was a delicious local schnapps as a replacement. Highly recommended.

Very nice restaurant with good food and super friendly staff.

Simply a must! The food is simply heavenly. What I found best was that, despite traditional Franconian cuisine, there were enough interesting and tasty dishes for vegetarians. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Even though the restaurant was pretty full, we got our drinks and food very quickly, maybe with a maximum wait of 10-15 minutes. For larger groups it is best to reserve in advance. The restaurant is located relatively in the middle of the city and is easy to reach on foot. Payment possible with both card and cash. Only recommended! 👍👍👍

The dishes are tasty! For one or two dishes, however, a dry Kaiser roll is served. There is still room for improvement... The service is super nice, the kitchen took a lot of time to prepare at lunchtime. Atmosphere is unbeatable! Cozy, traditional, cool!

The best ox cheeks I've eaten in ages. There was also asparagus and a huge bread dumpling, fried onions and some red cabbage. The staff is friendly and quick, despite the full house we got our food and drinks quickly. Will come again today

I I haven't been going to you for a while (although there were family celebrations there) but what I've experienced the last few times, what a great staff and I would like to include the kitchen, I have to give a lot of praise for what you've done with yourself, really great Please stay as friendly as you are, because I keep coming back more often and I won't be the only one with this kindness

Very good food! There isn't really anything more that can be said. We stopped by spontaneously and got a seat after about 20 minutes. Despite the Corona-related bottleneck at the entrance, the staff was friendly and very patient. The wait was definitely worth it. Delicious knuckle and Nuremberger with cabbage. Plus good beer. Prices are completely okay

Prices are excessive and not in relation to the quality, which has remained the same, which is a shame. Tipping has become an obligation when collecting and is a no go! Staff very friendly and accommodating.

We both had the onion roast - once with fried potatoes and once with spaetzle. Both versions were outstanding, I've eaten many but this is definitely one of the best. The only thing is that the acidity in the sauce is a bit high, probably from balsamic vinegar, but that shouldn't take anything away from it. A matter of taste - I thought it was great. You could have sucked the meat. Simply perfect. Thank you, we wouldn't have expected that in a restaurant of this size. The staff was also friendly. We'll be back.

We had already made reservations several months in advance for a group of 14 people. However, we were unexpectedly seated at two separate tables on site, right on time. We were very upset about this. No: Very, very, very upset and had communicated this very clearly. Nevertheless, there was no insight or accommodation or a word of regret from the service staff or their “foreman”. Quite the opposite: “We shouldn’t behave like that…” Food was well presented and the selection was relatively good. Nevertheless, it was definitely too fatty and tended to be over-seasoned. Salad quality was also extremely sad.

Had the vegan breakfast, it was super tasty, overall fresh. Unfortunately, the chia pudding didn't taste great and there is no lactose-free milk, so only 4 stars. But the service was super nice and accommodating.

Our girls' weekend in Bayreuth was rounded off with dinner at OSKARS. A location with a lot of seats - visited by many guests on Friday evenings. All employees kept an overview and were always friendly and courteous. The food was very tasty across the board and we didn't wait long for our food. So an all-round successful evening. Very friendly service staff, food (wild garlic soup and then sauerbraten) was really good, but the price was at the absolute upper limit, the same applies to the other prices of the dishes. Portion (sauerbraten) could be significantly larger. The ambience is really good, but the noise level is very, very loud. Despite the full house, the order was taken very promptly and the food came quickly.

Totally delicious German food. The location is very nice. Can highly recommend the spinach dumplings.

Original Bavarian inn with a beautifully covered inner courtyard/atrium. All in all very authentic. Service very quick and very very friendly. Food was as described and expected. Zwickelbier is extremely tasty.

Oskar is a large restaurant with German cuisine. The ambience is nice, everyone is sure to find a spot that they like in the different areas. The waitresses were without exception friendly and very attentive to the children (e.g. that the children's food came to the table in the shortest possible time so that their first hunger was satisfied). Really great! The food was very good - there was nothing to complain about. The spaetzle is excellent, the schnitzel is soft and the knuckle is soft. The portions are large and what you can't finish can be packed up. Prices are high, but still okay given the central location. We will definitely be guests again on our next visit to Bayreuth!

VERY tasty and for the price you really can't complain (e.g. €18.90 for a knuckle with potato dumpling, sauerkraut and beer sauce). Loft-like winter garden in which I unexpectedly felt comfortable. Definitely recommend it and would be happy to come again.

I am absolutely delighted at their service more so because they accommodate us in spite of a very rush hour Sunday lunchtime 😀. Well cooked, great tasting German dishes, in a traditional enterior, dry flowers , everything just beautiful. Must visit if you are near Bayreuth city centre.

Always a culinary experience, still a pleasure even after 20 years. Children are also welcome guests. Strollers can be easily accommodated in the rear atrium. Children's chairs... everything is ready.

Simply great! Highly recommended and if you are in the area you have to try it. It is one of the best restaurants in Germany. We ate at the bar because there were no free tables in the room (Germans know where to go to eat delicious, cheap and most importantly 100% homemade, enough Döner) We will definitely repeat! I especially recommend the Sauerbraten with gingerbread sauce. I haven't tasted anything this delicious in a long time. The waiters were polite and very attentive. I sat right in the middle of the large hall, which was unfortunately quite loud and hectic. A typical large inn. There's also an adjoining room, though, and it's probably much more pleasant there. Conclusion: I highly recommend Oskar. Just make a reservation in advance to get a nicer seat.

We were on holiday in Bayreuth and this restaurant was basically the only one still open - an absolute stroke of luck! The food was excellent, the atmosphere was very atmospheric and the service was super friendly and attentive. An all-round successful experience – highly recommended!

The inn was recommended to us by a friend who advised us to make an online reservation. This turned out to be beneficial as the place was pretty full on Thursday evening. That's why I was a little skeptical about whether it was a good idea to choose this restaurant. But that was absolutely unjustified. The service and food were world class! After taking the order, we had the drinks after 2 minutes and the food after a good 10 minutes. The staff noticed immediately when a glass was empty and asked whether everything was to our satisfaction. With a roughly estimated number of guests of 100 to 120 people, this is a strong performance. Especially when you take the quality of the food into account. I had a pork knuckle with side dishes and for me it was the best I've eaten in a pub in years (as a butcher's son, I'm picky ;) ). My wife was also very happy with her “beer steak”. All in all very, very good! You can also tip more for the service. In this case I would like to give 10 stars, but unfortunately only five are possible!

I ate here during a business trip because this restaurant has very good reviews. I can confirm the reviews. Great service, pleasant atmosphere, good food. Something that marred the positive impression: - Very loud acoustically, at least in the side area where I sat. - The food was not seasoned or only lightly seasoned. (Yes, I know it's a matter of taste, but my portion was just as good as a baby's.) - The side salad had no dressing. Nothing really bad, but I didn't have any salt and pepper, vinegar, or oil at the table either. As I said, just little things to look out for. Otherwise, I enjoyed it very much.

A great restaurant, it was very tasty and a welcoming atmosphere in all areas. The service is very friendly and attentive. A big compliment to the kitchen, despite so many customers, they still cook very well and serve wonderfully.

Mass tourism with rapid transit

Quaint restaurant right on the Bayreuth market square. Tastefully furnished in Upper Franconia. Food is very good, but at peak times it can get very busy, which can affect service. Still definitely worth a visit.

The Oskar restaurant impresses with a cozy atmosphere and a great selection of Franconian specialties. The Schäufele are particularly recommended – crispy, juicy and with a delicious sauce. The beer selection is also great and goes perfectly with the hearty food. The service was friendly and attentive, although the waiting times were a little longer, especially when the house was full. Prices are reasonable for the quality and central location. Overall, a great restaurant for Franconian cuisine in Bayreuth – we’d be back again!

The only thing that made it a unique experience for us was that we had to wait a bit to get a seat (without a reservation). In terms of quality, it was one of the best meals I have ever eaten! A huge thank you to the kitchen! The service was in no way inferior. We were immediately warmly greeted and even after we had our food, we kept asking if everything was okay. My highlight is always the Cola Wheat drink. For dinner we had the beer steak, the snack platter and a vegan schnitzel, everyone was extremely happy and the portions were sufficient! It was my first and certainly not my last visit to the Oskar!!! Thank you for that!

First I ordered a large water, a coffee and a tea. However, the latter were forgotten and only served after an hour after repeated requests. The roast beef was ordered medium rare, without mayo and fries - unfortunately the steak was completely cooked through and mayo was spread over the steak and salad. Service and cooking skills leave a lot to be desired. Although the ambience for a business lunch was satisfactory, overall, in my experience, the restaurant is not recommended.

We came here after the previously visited car dealership recommended this restaurant to us. A beautiful and elegant restaurant in the center of Bayreuth. Super delicious food and drinks. The service is extremely friendly and reliable. I can really only recommend it!

Ein tolles Lokal , Essen war sehr gut , wir saßen etwas länger , hatten ein volles Bier , wir wollten noch was zum Essen bestellen, uns wurde dann gesagt das der Tisch in 15 Min. belegt ist und das nicht geht . Könnten evtl. An einen anderen Tisch wechseln. Hätte man schon früher kommunizieren sollen . Der Abend ist abrupt geendet . Schade !
