OSCAR in Potsdam

For a restaurant in a "4-star" hotel (ridiculous), I expected significantly better service than what we experienced. Long waits for drinks. Clearing tables didn't work at all!!!! The service staff could, in German, be resoling their shoes while walking!!!!! Much better service for a restaurant in a supposedly 4-star hotel!!!! NOT RECOMMENDED 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

I am truly disappointed with my visit to Restaurant OSCAR. The three-course meal was the worst meal I have ever eaten in my life. The quality of the food was abysmal, the meat tasteless, and the preparation seemed completely lacking in love. The portions were far too small, and the overall experience was simply disappointing. I will definitely never return and cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone. One star for a rating is far too many.

We were there with a tour group. We had a choice of three dishes. I opted for beef goulash with spaetzle. The portion was very small. Four pieces of meat and a small handful of spaetzle are ridiculous for the price of €20.00!!!

Unfortunately, this was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've had in Germany. The service was poor – I was given a drink I never ordered, and instead of correcting the mistake, the staff insisted that I had ordered it. Rather than arguing with customers, it would be better to focus on improving service quality. As for the food, it was below expectations across the board. The starter, main course, and dessert were all overly salty and lacked flavor. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I cannot recommend this restaurant based on my experience.

No... We were guests there a few days ago... and were very disappointed overall... The food wasn't as tasty as advertised... The staff was incompetent and disoriented... Requests, such as dessert, were met with the most amazing offers. The Hotel Merkur is highly recommended... But not the restaurant in the lower part of the building... I wouldn't recommend it to anyone... because the staff was mostly made up of young ladies.

We've been here for brunch several times. The general price trend over the past few years is also reflected here. Overall, the buffet is plentiful and tasty. There's something for everyone. However, in my opinion, the selection of hot dishes has been reduced – and they were all only lukewarm during our last visit. Hence, a real 3-star deduction. The service is good and attentive; the buffet items are also replenished promptly. Therefore, overall, a mixed 4-star rating.

Good, modern food, good service! Everything was great, highly recommended!

Meinen 70. Geburtstag habe ich heute mit Familie beim Schlossbrunch gefeiert. Das Buffet war ausgezeichnet und allen geschmeckt. Super Service. Auch an die Kinder wurde gedacht und Spielzeug zur Verfügung gestellt. Preis-Leistung stimmte. Vielen Dank an das gesamt Team.

We visited the restaurant with two families, including children, and received very friendly service. We would especially like to thank Ms. Zeidler for her warmth and excellent service.

Schnitzel like in Vienna The restaurant at the Mercure Hotel also has an outdoor terrace with a view over the canal. The Wiener Schnitzel was a surprise – a beautifully baked veal schnitzel with delicious potato salad. With the lamb's lettuce, I would have felt like I was in Vienna. But the dry-aged pork chop is also worth recommending. For dessert on hot summer days, the red fruit compote parfait is a welcome relief. The interior is a bit dated, but has charm and cozy corners. The staff is very attentive and friendly, and the prices are reasonable.

The food was very clear, we had asparagus, the first time I had to cut asparagus with a knife it was very aldente, asparagus soup was a bit too salty, we waited almost 45 minutes for schnitzel with asparagus and that was at lunchtime on Saturday if you ordered in advance, it was fine not, not recommended, restaurant was empty except for 2 other tables, never again, price performance does not match for a restaurant in a 4 star hotel.

Wir haben hier Heiligabend zu Mittag gegessen und waren sehr zufrieden. Wir hatten 7 Gerichte und alle waren wirklich lecker, gut angerichtet und qualitativ hochwertig. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit bei der Auswahl und auch besonders zu unserem Sohn. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Wir waren zu einer Tagung im Mercue. Mittags gab es Buffet. Es war vielfältig. Aber eben nichts Besonderes. Eher Masse statt Klasse.

Man sitzt großzügig und bequem, und hat einen schönen Blick nach draußen. Das Ambiente Insgesamt ist irgendwo in den 90ern stecken geblieben, wobei der Oscar und die ganzen Bilder aus UFA und DEFA Zeiten schon ein Highlight sind. Die Speisenauswahl ist übersichtlich, bezahlbar und es sind ein paar preiswerte Mittagsgerichte dabei. Weinpreise finde ich viel zu hoch, da traut man sich gar nicht 0,2 zu bestellen. Speisen und Getränke waren allesamt ausgezeichnet, unser Kellner sehr nett und flink. Die Toiletten sind sehr sauber und barrierefrei.

We arriveerden rond 19:00 uur en hadden om 20:10 uur de eerste hap van onze eenvoudige gerechten (salade en falafel) te pakken. Jammer dat de bediening, ondanks ons tussentijds reclameren, pas bij het afrekenen vertelde dat er deze avond maar twee koks aanwezig waren. Erg amateuristisch om dit niet eerder te melden. Het eten was redelijk, maar we gingen met een slecht gevoel huiswaarts.
