I don't understand some of the negative reviews. The food was excellent, and despite it being relatively busy, the service was super attentive and quick.

We visited twice. Beer and food of all kinds, and even more whiskey. A small problem was resolved with great service. They serve cold Jever. Greetings from Stella and Ralf.

We were only there for drinks. Both the Guinness and the cider were good. What was very poor, however, was the service organization. It took a long time to order, and it took even longer for the drinks to arrive. The menus were also very sticky and dirty, and didn't leave the best impression.

Normally, you go to bars like these to enjoy a good Guinness. If you don't want Guinness, there are plenty of other places in the city. Unfortunately, my visit yesterday was a huge disappointment. The Guinness was poured completely incorrectly – the glass was overfilled, beer was spilling over the rim, and it was impossible to enjoy properly (see pictures). I would strongly recommend that the staff receive training on how to pour Guinness properly. A well-poured Guinness should be a pleasure – not an annoyance.

Irish Pub: I (female, businesswoman, 60 years old) have never been treated as disrespectfully in an Irish pub as I was in this pub. Several times. The owner is clearly completely indifferent to his employees' behavior; he ignores both me and his employees' misconduct, despite repeated warnings. Furthermore, the food is mediocre and overpriced; not recommended.

Just wow, best Guinness outside of Dublin.

Very good pub with very friendly staff

The food was generally good, but that's not what I'm talking about. In my opinion, the waitress was a disaster. Not only did she repeatedly try to clear away plates that were still visibly full during conversations and during our meal, and she also cleaned up our cutlery (which I don't understand), but the real issue was that we were asked to go inside from the beer garden after 11 p.m. because it was closing. We still had food we hadn't finished, which we had asked to be continued inside. With the exception of the plate we had brought with us, the remaining food was taken to the kitchen by the waitress. When we then asked for the rest of our food, it was taken back from the kitchen. That wasn't particularly appetizing or appropriate, especially since we had already given a €5 tip beforehand. You can expect some service, I think. I still wish the place the best and hope it was an exception. The one star goes solely to the waitress who provided such poor service on the spot.

Great food, nice atmosphere—but the service used to be better. We had to wait an hour to order food, even though we had made it clear when ordering drinks that we wanted to eat there.

Large food and beverage area, good kitchen and beer, I can't say anything about the whiskey, I didn't drink it...

Went there for a quick bite and a drink. The food was okay—burger was good, but the salad didn’t live up to our expectations or past experiences. They mixed up the order a bit; the item we chose wasn’t available, and they brought something else without checking with us first. Aside from that, the place was nice with a pleasant atmosphere.

Large, covered terrace in front of the pub. Very decent selection of drinks and food. The food was delicious, and the wait times were very pleasant. Friendly staff. The volume and selection of music inside may not be for everyone, but it didn't bother us.

Cozy place with terrible hip-hop stomping music. Where have the cool Irish sounds gone?? Monday pub quiz with really good questions, but as I said, the music could be better, as the crowd is also very mixed.

A cute Irish pub in the center of Freiburg. A bit hidden if you don't know where it is, but definitely worth a visit. The food was delicious, too. The drinks were lovingly prepared. Depending on how busy it is, you may have to be patient to get a waiter or to receive your order. The noise level also varies depending on the crowd, although it's also a student city, and many students come here. We liked it.

Visited Sunday 1st of June 2025 had 3 pints of Guinness was terrible then had some ribs witch was nice but woke up this morning with food poisoning never again will I go there

Nice classic Irish pub with a huge variety of drinks. The craft beers are very good and the staff is friendly. Didn't eat so I can't say about the food quality... They could renew the outside area to have a great atmosphere like inside.

Large covered terrace in front of the pub. Sheltered from the wind and sun. All kinds of food and drinks, just like in a real pub. We spent a few hours there for aperitifs and dinner. Desserts were superbly served, it was hard to finish. ^^ The ticket was only €90 for two, including the meal, desserts, and several beers and cocktails. If I come back to Freiburg, I will definitely go back.

The place is nice but the high bar stools are a bit uncomfortable. It was quite crowded on a Friday night.

We sat outside singing beautifully in a group while finishing our beer when two waiters approached us and rudely interrupted our singing, then kicked us out of the bar without any reason. Very unfriendly. Also, we were there at 9.45pm (the kitchen closes at 10pm) but nobody came to take our order until the kitchen was closed (after 10pm).... then they told us we couldn't order anything to eat anymore.

The best Irish pub in Freiburg great food and beers. It feels like you are in Temple bar rather than in Germany

Excellent experience at Oscar Wilde Irish Pub! I really liked the food: well cooked, right portions and with an authentic touch. The location is truly welcoming, with a warm atmosphere and attention to detail, perfect for relaxing or spending an evening with friends. I also really appreciated the presence of themed events and evenings, which make the experience even more engaging. I will definitely be back!

Large beer selection, cocktail selection, delicious Wildberry Lillet, nice outdoor seating area (with umbrellas) by the stream. More chairs and tables would be practical. Unfortunately the waitress spilled a drink on my pants. A replacement came and the drink was also on the house. However, I found it strange that the waitress, after getting a rag, first wiped the table before offering me a rag for my pants.

Drinks were up to the mark and delicious! We ordered only scones as food: but was too dry for our taste!

Food and drinks were great. Unfortunately the service wasn't good. Went twice and everything was great on the first visit. The waiters were very slow to arrive at the second one.

We've liked the place for years, but the food has never been better. Fries used to be great, but now they are lukewarm and have no bite. Fish with a lot of breading but little fish. Burger tastes ok, but is getting smaller and smaller - for € 17! Please give it another go. Thanks

Very nice pub with a wide selection of beer and whiskey. Nice friendly service. The food looked good, but I didn't have it, so I didn't rate it. However, the cards should be replaced at some point; their best days are behind them

The burgers are extremely tasty, the beer is great and there is a large selection. I find the atmosphere very appropriate and really nice. Definitely a great place to eat or just drink :) The service is also very friendly (greetings go out to the blonde waiter with short hair who made me a flaming drink on my birthday 😄).

Oscar Wilds is always worth a visit. And has now become our regular pub. Great food, great beer and no complaints.

A real piece of Ireland! The Irish pub has a great atmosphere - warm, cozy and authentic. I had a sandwich that was fresh and filling, paired with a perfectly tapped beer – an unbeatable combination. The service was friendly and attentive and the overall vibe of the pub was just welcoming and relaxed. Whether for a quick snack or a sociable evening with friends, you simply feel at home here. Absolutely recommended!

I had so much fun in this place! I was missing my English pubs so much and finally in the centre of Freiburg Here it is! the service was fantastic and friendly, the atmosphere lively and loud, we had a night of quiz, food is typical English food (we had a club sandwich!!). Strongly recommended!

Selection of drinks, such as beers (delicious!) and whiskeys (top), was perfect. The food also tastes very good, can only be recommended. It would be advisable if the service was more motivated with a "sales bonus", because the employees in the service, I assume many of them are temporary workers, do not pay sincere attention to the customers, in every sense: i.e. it then goes on their own Discrimination, with less sales and much smaller tips.

Schampar spent good evening here. We had everything on the menu, from long drinks to shots to whisk(e)y, and were always satisfied. Authentic, inexpensive and friendly. Gladly again next time.

We were there on a Saturday evening. Since everything was full we had to sit outside. The weather was very cold, wet and windy. But some people sat outside and that absolutely speaks for Oscar Wilde's. Service was very friendly. We ordered the cheese platter for a snack and it was very good.

A pub as we like them, everything is Guinness, traditional Irish cuisine and a whiskey bar with an incredible choice. In an authentic setting of a real pub with wood, leather benches etc...

Fancier than an ordinary working-class Irish bar, doesn't screen live football, but the food is healthier as you expect from an Irish bar in Freiburg

Last time I was there, there was a mouse in the restaurant. I don't know how restaurants are supposed to deal with rodents roaming the customer area legally speaking, but I think sanitary guidelines say they needed to at least remove it and clean up. I told several employees and they all told me "yes we know" or "there's nothing I can do about it" and it just seemed overall very unprofessional and made me sick. I have pictures but posting them here feels a bit incorrect. I really hope you improve this, but not me nor my people will be coming back.

It's a very nice place to sit for drinks and chatting with colleagues or friends! I always dread when I'm invited here for a meal. As a vegetarian I've never been impressed with the food. It's usually just something like a veggie wrap or cooked veggies like eggplant made in the style of fish n chips but with a lot less flavor. Just a bit boring. Maybe consider adding a veggie burger or something with more substance and protein to the menu for vegetarians?

Super cozy pub, delicious food and very nice and authentic service (sometimes you order in English :) There is a fun PubQuiz on Mondays and the brunch on Saturday is also highly recommended (we had the Veggie Irish Breakfast) The pumpkin gratin is highly (!) recommended. Always a nice place to go for a few drinks. The outside area is good but fills up very quickly. Decorated nicely inside. There is a section where you can play cards and games. Service could do with a bit of an improvement. Good prices for drinks. The avocado wedges are always very good.

Gabz cool, unfortunately the pub quiz is at a too high level.. it would be cool if more people with an IQ similar to mine would play..

Irish pub feeling in the middle of Freiburg, top service with mainly English-speaking staff (German is also possible ;)). We regularly go to the pub quiz on Monday evenings, but also every now and then for brunch or a delicious beer or whiskey. There are typical pub dishes, both with meat and vegetarian/vegan.

Service was courteous, friendly and on the ball, simply wonderful! The ambience is very nice and stylish and invites you to linger! Food was absolutely great (both had the Spicey and Smokey burgers)! And when it comes to alcohol and beer, all I can say is an absolutely great selection and offer! On the whole, just have a nice drink, eat well and sit in a nice atmosphere. I can recommend it to others with a clear conscience!

Irish bar in the center of Freiburg, lots of beers to choose from, both from the stick and from the bottle. Food is also served, I ordered fish & chips and it was absolutely ok. The service was quite fast and efficient, even for a Friday evening. As it turned out, one of the ladies was Polish - a pleasant surprise 😉

Finally good music in a pub again, thanks for the Pumpkins 😘. And thanks for the fish and chips and also the eggplant version Both very tasty.

We were spontaneously in Freiburg and Oscar Wilde's is an absolute vibe! Great music, super nice decoration and nice staff! Definite recommendation as a Freiburg local.

The selection of whiskey including a menu with detailed descriptions is enormous.

We had the club sandwich and the smokey burger. I don't know what coleslaw is doing at the club. Otherwise a great dish. The bun of the burger was not toasted. Reaction from the cook: Rolls are bought baked. 😏

A classic Irish pub with good drinks, nice music and an overall great atmosphere! We were on a week trip here and we had a drink almost every evening because of how nice it was :)

Unfortunately I seem to have had a bad day. The waitress didn't speak a word of German. We ordered two drinks (a beer and a Spezi) and had to wait ten minutes for them (on a Thursday). In the end, I also found the waitress to be unprofessional because she took the drinks without saying a word (whether we were finished, whether everything was good, whether we wanted anything else). The Guinness we ordered arrived warm. The prices were ok, especially for the location. The atmosphere in particular was pleasant.

We were here after a warm day and had a drink. Great location overlooking a stream - very cozy. Service also good. Recommended!

Very friendly atmosphere in this completely Irish pub. It's certainly not the cuisine of crazy gourmets, but my fish and chips tasted so good! Here, even though German is well used, English has a "so Irish" sound. It was a very pleasant stopover even if the cards are also beer-flavored ;-).

Where to begin. Service is sincere and welcoming. The food is amazing and they have fantastic vegan food as well. I had the buffalo wings and my vegan significant other had the cauliflower wings and vegan burger. Everything was super tasty. The service was quick as well and the seating options are plentiful outside and inside.

Great whiskey menu. Always nice service and just a great classic pub.

Ordered Lagavulin 16. Upon receipt I asked again: “Is this the Lagavulin 16?” Waiter looks around at the bartender: “Is that the Lagavulin 16?” Bartender: "That's the Lagavulin 16!" Nose: No smoke, no peat, no complexity. Went to the bartender: "I ordered a Lagavulin 16, this is definitely not one." Bartender: "I must have mixed up the bottle!" Conclusion: Be careful when ordering whiskey!!!

The food was surprisingly tasty, I had the Fresh Fish'n Chips. Plus a few fresh Kilkenny on tap in a cozy atmosphere and with friendly service, what more could you want?

Oscar Wilde's is an Irish pub as you know it. What was particularly positive was the large selection of drinks and the great selection of food options. Also for vegetarians and vegans. We had the buffalo wings and the mac and cheese - super delicious! The only small drawback was that you always had to draw attention to yourself in order to be served. Otherwise everything was great.

Good beer, delicious burger, service attentive but a bit clumsy: If I discovered that I had been brought the wrong beer, I would like to just get a new one instead of being told that it was the right one - after all, I tried it and know what it tastes like 😉
