We are thrilled with the service, the very friendly and approachable staff, the atmosphere and the ambience. The food was very tasty! It is of high quality!

Super nice beach restaurant, with good service on the outskirts of Wenningstedt. We only discovered it by chance this year, although we have been visiting the island for 30 years, but we will definitely come back! :-)

Our favorite regular beach location. We come very regularly and not without reason: It's always a warm welcome, the food is really tasty and we love the atmosphere there. It's informal here and everyone is welcome! The inside has become more and more comfortable over the years and the view of the sea is sensational! And it doesn't matter whether we sit outside or at our favorite table number 11.

The service was very nice, the atmosphere was relaxed - that's how it should be on vacation 😎 The coffee tasted good and I thought the cake was okay.

Fantastic food and North German-friendly service, a fantastic view and enough free seats in late autumn. We went there twice and both times walked back through the sand full and satisfied.

Hidden on the beach or accessible via the dunes. It's a good place to sit and have a drink, it's simple but rustically nice. The service was attentive and very good, the currywurst was good, nothing more and the price was too much.

We had a drink here. A deposit of 5 euros was required for the wine glass, which turned out to be made of plastic.

View great, drinks and food delicious and prices fair. At first we were served very friendly. Then the shift changed and we were served by another lady. She came to us every 10 minutes to ask if we would like to order anything else. When I paid my bill and added a good tip (10%), no one thanked me. There was just a stupid saying that that would be the least. I will never forget this cheeky and incredibly unfriendly woman. 2/3 of us live here on Sylt. We will not visit this restaurant again.

Average food at Sylter prices. Anyone expecting culinary highlights here will be disappointed. Service was nice and attentive. Portion of fish and chips for €24, sea buckthorn spritz for €11.50. Of course you also pay for a sea view.

It's worth coming here. Access via sandy dune paths is nice, but not easy for the disabled.

Super nice restaurant, here you can sit really nice and quietly right by the sea! No matter whether it was lunchtime or evening, whether inside or outside, we always found space and the ambience was always great. I think the menu is a bit manageable, but so far everything we've tried has tasted very good! Of course the prices are appropriate for the location, but I still think value for money is reasonable. I find it rather impractical for visitors who want to travel by car or bicycle, but if you live north in Wenningstedt it is within walking distance.

Unfortunately very hectic. Table reservations don't work, you still have to wait!? After being informed that the toilet rooms were massively dirty due to a "child's prank" (wet sand also on the door handles) no action was taken!!???

A reservation in advance is recommended. But it is not absolutely necessary if there is little traffic. The ambience is beautiful with a direct view of the beach and the North Sea. Homemade and with loving details.

The view of the beach, even from tables in the house, is hard to describe, but at least it is beautiful. The food is top class, the prices, well in the last 5 years they have adapted to the standard on Sylt. It might be almost doubled. The service is great until your waitress realizes that you pay by card and cannot leave a tip because it is simply not desired or possible to tip using a credit card here. This is not the case in all restaurants. In many restaurants this is possible and desired. I traveled all over Scandinavia this year without a single crown in my pocket. EVERYTHING is cashless, except for paying for washing machines at some campsites in Denmark. I had to buy crowns with my credit card. Back to Uncle Johnny in Wenningstedt, here on Sylt 2024 tips by card are not possible. After paying with card, there was no more word to be heard from the waitress, no thank you, no greeting, nothing. As I left, I said goodbye with a loud goodbye. The waitress ostentatiously turned around and didn't look at me anymore. That doesn't apply to all of Uncle Johnny's servants, but today with this person it really annoyed me. With a bill of €75... I understand that the waitress is entitled to a tip if the food and service was good, but I refuse to take a bag of money just for the tip in some places. There are other fantastic restaurants that I don't feel bad leaving.

Thu. d. 4.7.24/3:00 p.m.: The former Wonnemeyers has now developed into a veritable beach restaurant. You either sit outside in the wind and weather or inside behind large windows. In any case, there is a view of the North Sea. The rustic-martime interior fits perfectly with the surroundings. The place was a little emptier than usual, probably because of the time of day. This meant the service was able to take care of us quickly and professionally. The Tataki from the U.S. The beef (€22) and the potato pancakes with salmon (€19) were nicely presented and tasted very good from the first to the last bite.

Always a MUST on your Sylt vacation. There's simply nothing we don't like about it. Currywurst is always good and the fish nuggets are also recommended 😋😘👍

Restaurant with terrace overlooking the sea! You can eat outside or inside. We had reservations in the morning for the evening.

The service crew is simply top. Really big compliments to the blonde service person with tattoos and the nice guy in his mid-thirties also with tattoos. Like good friends

Stopped by spontaneously after a day at the beach. We were allowed to sit at a table reserved for later. There was a good Verdeccio on the daily menu, which we treated ourselves to a bottle of. The food was very tasty, the sauce for the cod on penne with spinach and gorgonzola was perfectly balanced and subtle, the sea bream fillet with shrimp, rosemary potatoes and vegetables was also successful. We treated ourselves to dessert straight away. The service was very friendly and always there when you needed it. A very nice end to the day.

Delicious food, using the right amount of spices. Definitely different. Although was full the service was great. And most importantly clean,( we have had a horrible experience in an italien restaurant in Sylt and we have learnt to appreciate clean food served to us). Food really very tasty. If you get it. We waited over 2 hours for our food and the service employee said it was the starter's fault. That was exactly 4 garlic breads. Other people who were in the store 45 minutes later had their food much earlier.

The food was great as was the decor and the view of the restaurants. I think the service was far too aloof and unfriendly (e.g. We reserved a place outside but it was no longer offered to us on site and they forgot some drinks, including 2 cokes and 1 beer.

We came from the beach... spontaneously and barefoot, sand up to our kneecaps, but otherwise normal, neatly dressed, we stood in the shop with 6 adults and 2 children around 8 p.m. It was full, but the service staff made the impossible possible. We got a table :) ...the food was great! The store is tastefully decorated. The view over the North Sea at sunset is fantastic and lets your thoughts wander endlessly. The prices are ok so far... We'd love to come back... but only at sunset😎🌞

Worst dining experience in my life; My girlfriend and I were looking forward to dinner by the sea today, but unfortunately the supposed boss of the restaurant behaved in a rude and unprofessional manner towards the guests but, above all, towards us. We stood in line for people who had reserved their seats in advance by phone (we had already asked for a table on the terrace on the phone). Meanwhile, an older gentleman walked past everyone, including us, straight to the boss who was handing out the seats. We and the family in front of us could hear the gentleman asking the boss whether we could still get a table without a reservation and ideally outside with a view of the sea. There was still a free table outside at the time. Instead of first bringing the people who had reserved in advance to their tables, the boss brings the gentleman and his wife to the last free table on the terrace, which would have accommodated four people. The family in front of us (4 people) was visibly annoyed by this behavior, we couldn't understand why the family with 2 children who had reserved in advance were not allowed to sit outside. Instead, the family got a seat in the last corner inside. When it was our turn to allocate seats, I commented to the boss that the reservation apparently didn't help if you could get seats on the terrace even without a reservation. I received the false answer that the gentleman had also made a reservation. I then informed him that both my girlfriend, the family in front of us and I noticed that the gentleman had specifically asked for a table without a reservation. Afterwards he visibly felt offended and asked me in a very loud and aggressive tone if I would like to explain to him how the shop runs and showed us to a table right at the entrance. If the beach path hadn't been so long and we hadn't been so hungry, we would have immediately looked for an alternative location. The food was ok but €21 for a standard spaghetti bolognese was very steep. In my opinion, I find such behavior, both the unjustified allocation of tables and the subsequent reaction to my tip from the restaurateur, highly unprofessional and very unfair to guests who make a reservation specifically to have a nice evening. Therefore, for such an atmosphere there is no more than one well-intentioned star.

The food was delicious and the value for money was simply great! A little away from the action, but perfect for a delicious meal. We had a Pinot Gris, but it tasted more like a Riesling and wasn't really our thing. The service staff were friendly, our waitress came across as a bit listless, but she still did a great job :) We would come back!

Eating directly on the beach. The food was very good, the price was reasonable for the location. In the evening without a reservation you have to be lucky.

One or two waiters are a bit angry, otherwise everything is ok, but others are a bit better.

The visit this year was highly recommended. We have been spending our holidays on Sylt for more than 15 years and in the last few years we have been there more often. We were lucky with the weather and the sunset and the view from the restaurant is beautiful. The food was really tasty, we had the antipasti plate as a starter and the salad bowl and the sea bream fillet as the main course. The boss has a great sense of humor and tries to fulfill every customer's wishes even when the house is full. And the other colleagues in service are also very nice and accommodating. Price-performance is also ok for Sylt including a beach view, keep it up! :-)

After we had already been guests at Johnny's X number of times, we decided to celebrate our wedding evening there too. After great advice from Ralph, we spent a fantastic evening with our guests, with delicious food and drinks, as well as a fantastic sunset. The service was great as always! We'll be back (as always)!

Nice restaurant with a great view of the sea.

We were there with our two children in June. The kids had the mini burger and my husband had the veal cheeks. With one drink each we left with €89. Instead we sat outside with a view of the sea. After eating, the children had a great time playing on the pirate ship next to it. The waiting time was a bit long even though the restaurant wasn't full. Nevertheless, it's worth a visit.

Great location right on the beach. Food good and service too. Unfortunately we had a table outside directly under the ventilation system... unfortunately it was very loud for a comfortable conversation... then it was better not to have a table instead of “Yes, we can manage that”.

The food is good and, like everywhere else on Sylt, is always “one” euro more expensive. But why an alcohol-free wheat 0.5l. Must cost 6.80 euros?!…. So: very nice location, good food and good & friendly service.

A restaurant in a great location on the beach… When the lease was advertised at the time, it was essentially about beach supplies in addition to the restaurant. Yesterday we wanted to get drinks and food from the kiosk for the family on the beach at 7:30 p.m. He had put two sheets of metal up on the window so that no communication was possible. After knocking, a kitchen employee explained that you had to order in the restaurant, but that you could still order everything there to take away. After we queued up to reserve a table, an extremely unfriendly employee with a hat explained to us: You can see what's going on here, (not all tables are occupied) there's nothing outside of the house! In such an arrogant tone that it couldn't be worse. What is important is that the jeep is placed directly on top of the building and that the profit is right, nothing else! Even during the day the beach supplies are very poor… Very, very sad for the community of Wenningstedt!

Like every year, we were at Uncle Johnny's at the end of a long day at the beach. The food was good, but unfortunately the portions seem to have become smaller. And that with rising prices. Most of the service staff are very friendly, but unfortunately not all of them. For some, additional training would be appropriate. Nevertheless, we are giving the restaurant another chance. Hopefully the portions will be big enough to fill you up. A dozen prawns for just under 20 euros is quite expensive, as is a medium-sized tapas plate for 22 euros.

Great ambience with a fantastic view of the 🌊. The service staff was friendly and accommodating. We were allowed to choose the (reserved) seat almost freely because it wasn't very full at 5:30 p.m. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to what was promised. The fish (cod) was nicely prepared, looked crispy fried (see photos), but the consistency was not pleasant, rather rubbery, at least one of the fillets, the other was okay. The spinach in the sauce wasn't cut at all and so had to be rolled up like spaghetti. My wife had fish & chips - it was okay, but not a highlight. Our daughter had rice pudding (the children's portion of fish & chips cost 17.50 EUR), which was delicious. The prices were otherwise okay.

Just a perfect place and definitely the better “bar” on the beach. We had a delicious meal in a cozy atmosphere and felt completely at home. Dogs are of course also welcome directly on the dog beach.
