There were four of us there – unfortunately, we were disappointed. Two starters, four main courses, drinks, and a bottle of wine – the final bill came to over €350. Far too expensive compared to the very good quality and service at other restaurants. In summary: The service left a lot to be desired: disorganized, unattentive, and more of a "beach bistro" atmosphere than an upscale restaurant. No instructions on how to grill. You're more or less left to your own devices. The root vegetables were neither pre-cooked nor suitable for grilling – accordingly, they were tough and sometimes burnt. Unfortunately, the sauces (except for the garlic sauce) didn't go well with the meat at all. The quality of the meat was very good, but in the end, you end up paying a small fortune to prepare your own food – without any real assistance. Overall, the value for money is not at all right. It's a shame, because the ambiance would have been very nice…

The service is particularly noteworthy. Very attentive, solution-oriented staff. The food is delicious. The guests are relaxed, hardly any snobs.

Top location with great food, service and ambience

Where do I begin? In the Bundeswehr, I learned to sleep on it before saying anything. Yes, it's unusual to grill at the table...but... We paid €147, including tips, for two skewers that we had to grill ourselves and a bottle of wine. Guys, if I charge those prices as a self-employed craftsman, I'll be bankrupt after six months because I won't get any more orders. I hope things continue this way for you.

There is still room for improvement in the service, but otherwise a pleasant experience.

An evening at the Ismeer restaurant is an absolute must on any visit to Sylt. The location is stunning, the food incredibly delicious, the wine selection excellent – and the service always warm and attentive. Regardless of the weather, the view of the sea is simply beautiful at any time of day and in any mood.

Cash only. This has a bad taste. Wine is only available outdoors in a mundane plastic cup. Not even a plastic wine glass. Not a hundred meters away, you can get wine by the glass at Gosch – also outdoors. This is a one-off, and definitely not again!

The absolute highlight, however, was the table grill – a fantastic idea that turns the meal into an experience! Freshly grilled on the table, with high-quality ingredients and a great selection of side dishes – perfect for a special evening for two or with friends. Grilling together is not only fun, but also tastes incredibly good. Add a glass of wine and the view of the dunes – simply unforgettable. If you're on Sylt, you shouldn't miss the iismeer and especially the table grill. We'll definitely be back!

Nothing going on - but you're still ignored.

Unfortunately, the staff was extremely unfriendly. I was there for a wedding reception, and despite asking for water and other drinks several times (five times), I was completely ignored. When I finally went to the bar to ask, I had a conversation with the owner/manager. Instead of being sympathetic, she threatened me and advised me to go somewhere else. Apparently, hospitality has a completely different meaning there. It's a shame that guests are treated like this.

A very nice atmosphere, very friendly staff, we felt very comfortable at Lilly's. The food at the fire table was amazing (delicious and plentiful). We'll be back next time we visit Sylt!

What was hinted at last year has become reality in 2025. Service has suffered (yes, I know there's a shortage of skilled workers), and then at 8 p.m., hot dogs and bread sticks (basically IssMeer's USP) are no longer available, a standard ice cream flavor is no longer available for dessert, and so on... Little things add up when it comes to the experience. In our ranking of favorite restaurants, this one is going down for now. The quality of the food was very good. Afternoon: Delicious ice cream, evening: bread sticks! Great concept in a great atmosphere. A must-visit in Wenningstedt.

We ordered a set menu with a variety of appetizers and excellent meat to grill at our table. After a brief introduction by the friendly staff, the grilling process worked well. The appetizers and the meat dish tasted excellent. The portions are generous, so I recommend being frugal that day.

We ate here this week as part of a larger group event, and I have to say that I no longer have much sympathy for restaurants that treat vegetarians 🌱 like second-class guests. The organizer must have communicated how many of the group were vegetarians. Oh well. We were served tapas throughout the evening with a very, very large selection of meat, and the vegetarians were only provided with dry side dishes. Three pickled mushrooms, two small potatoes, a finger-sized piece of dry eggplant, and dry bread without dip are not adequate for the price. Participants ate something at home because the vegetarians left feeling unsatiated. The service was very friendly when asked if they could bring some more vegetarian food, but extremely inflexible. The location of the restaurant is great, and we're told everyone was very friendly. Meat eaters were satisfied, but I really wouldn't recommend the restaurant if there are vegetarians or vegans in your group. It's a real shame. Addendum after owner comment: I find it questionable to call for reviewers to delete their reviews. Our table only received the vegetarian dishes mentioned above. There were obviously several tables with vegetarians who were hungry, so we can only reiterate that next time you might want to make your catering for an event of this size a bit more vegetarian-friendly, especially if you don't have any information. I forgot to mention the melon salad, the size of a cereal bowl for a table of 8, as a dish, so please forgive me.

Since the coronavirus pandemic, we've been to iismeer for dinner at the grill table a few times. Overall, the service, food, and ambiance are great. So, there's not much to complain about in that regard. However, this year, the increased prices have surprised us a bit. Sure, everything has gotten more expensive, but everything has its limits. My opinion, and I'm always willing to spend money on good food: The price for a beef fillet skewer (over €45) or a burger (almost €30) has simply increased disproportionately compared to previous years. Even a vegetable skewer costs €22... The idea of ​​the table grill, the view, of course, all have to be taken into account - in my opinion, it all depends on the price/performance ratio (unfortunately). We pass by there every evening, and it used to be impossible to dine at iismeer without a reservation. This year, things are somewhat different. This year, we decided not to get involved in the hype and only ate the delicious ice cream, and once we went for some delicious waffles with strawberries. (Just finished a scoop 😃. Dear iismeer team! Please don't misunderstand this little criticism, I'm not a complainer - maybe we'll see you again for dinner in 2026... 😉

We went there spontaneously on June 8, 2025, to treat ourselves to a coffee and one of their highly praised waffles. What we, or rather my wife, had to go through was more than unpleasant. After we ordered, the young waiter briskly brought our hot drinks. They were placed on a wooden tray (board) with a slight indentation for the respective container. The waiter only had the trays in his hand, which would later come back to haunt him. The glass containing the hot latte macchiato slipped off the tray, and the entire contents landed in my wife's lap. The worst part about this incident is that my wife has to wear medical compression pants due to illness, and they're not easy to remove, which is why she suffered a scald on her thighs. I mean, mistakes happen (we're all only human), and the waiter was visibly sorry, but less than five minutes later, the next guest was served a hot drink in the same way! That's unacceptable; it's hard to imagine what would have happened if the same thing had happened to a small child. After a brief investigation with our legal counsel, we requested the company's insurance information so we could bill them for any damage to the pants, which cost over €1,200. We weren't given this information; instead, they referred us to the café's information email address. Furthermore, the one latte macchiato and one waffle were removed from the bill, which isn't the best way to handle something like this. This was definitely our first and last time there, even though the waffle was really delicious. Okay, and the mocking looks from passersby on the way to our car, across the city center, were just as unpleasant as the pain from the scalding. *Update 6/13/25* I received greetings from the office today, including a complaint regarding the "bad review." In my opinion, this demonstrates the unprofessionalism even more. I think if you ask the staff for your insurance details three times that should be more than enough, but that's a matter of opinion.

First of all: the restaurant considers itself an experience restaurant, in that the meat and fish dishes are prepared in-house on gas grills at the tables in the much larger dining area. If that's what you enjoy, then this is the place for you. My expectations (I didn't research it beforehand) were different that day, but in the end, it was okay. The ambiance was interesting in this context, the staff was friendly and attentive, and the food was of good quality. However, the price, considering the quantity offered, was still excessive compared to other restaurants I visited on the island.

The ice cream variations are a hit. Exceptional flavors, top-quality craftsmanship, and fine wines, along with a magnificent view of the North Sea.

It's a very special ambiance, and you expect a corresponding price level as well as friendly, attentive, and friendly service to match. Unfortunately, we felt that these three components only partially matched during our visit. For a burger in this price range, we believe all the components should arrive at the table perfectly. Of course, it can happen that the bread is accidentally left untoasted and the cheese is cold, although, as a member of staff confirmed when we asked, this is not the intended purpose. However, we didn't like the idea of ​​gathering everything together with the meat grilled on the table and returning it to the table less than a minute later, still lukewarm and with the cheese still intact. And to then handle all of this as a matter of course, without a single word of apology, ultimately spoiled our stay. We sincerely hope that this remains one of those slip-ups that will always occur in even the best establishments.

A special dining experience with great service. Our skewers were amazing, and the gluten-free stick bread for our child was something truly special. Thank you, especially to the wonderfully friendly service staff. We'd love to come back.

As always, very tasty and of good quality. This time I had the chicken with pineapple, and the pineapple was fresh and good. Unfortunately, the chicken was cut very poorly, so it couldn't be grilled properly for either of the people at our table. It kept slipping on the skewer to the longer and heavier side, so the same part of the meat was always grilled and, of course, eventually became too black. We had to take it out early, which I consider risky with poultry. The quality of the chicken was excellent. Otherwise, everything was great, as always.

An insider tip? We went there for waffles around lunchtime. The atmosphere at the fire tables in the winter garden is fantastic. The service was extremely friendly and relaxed. The waffles, the homemade ice cream, and the side dishes were delicious. From the outside, the ice cream bar is quite unassuming. It's a little misleading, but appearances are disappointing—we'll be back!

I was with my granddaughter today for dinner. We had two skewers over the Dutch oven. It was super delicious. We were also very professionally explained how to use it. It was a very nice atmosphere and there were also many other nice guests. We will definitely return here several times. A wonderful holiday memory.

A restaurant with a lovely ambiance and a cool idea. The two of us had the iismeer menu, which includes a grilled skewer and various side dishes and appetizers per person. The appetizers alone were almost filling, and the subsequent main course of skewer, salad, and a side of potatoes was even too much for us. The staff is very friendly, and the overall atmosphere is extremely cozy. My only criticism: The pears on the tuna skewer were challenging in many ways.

The three of us had dinner here yesterday on May 10, 2025. It was just wonderful. We decided on a menu with a starter, main course and dessert. The products used for all dishes were of top quality. There is absolutely nothing to complain about. The complete service is always friendly and helpful and open to all questions. We also had a great time sitting in the winter garden and the concept with the table grill where you can prepare your own skewer was just great. Whether meat, fish, vegetarian or vegan, there is a wide selection. Of course the price is a little more expensive but it was worth it. Gladly again at any time. The drinks are also very tasty and refreshing, whether spritz, beer, wine or soft drinks.

First, the lady who came after me, who obviously pushed her way forward, was served first and then the ice cream didn't really taste that good. Raspberry tasted sweet but not really like fruit and lemon tasted sour and like lemon peel… Addendum: It's a bit strange to note that what I tasted isn't true. I just said what it tasted like to me and that the ice cream wasn't good for me. The statement is therefore true, regardless of the ingredients… And to push forward, if the waitress smiles away and shrugs her shoulders slightly when you say something about it, then that definitely has something to do with the service...

Suffer more appearances than reality, because visually the restaurant is a highlight with the beautiful fireplaces, the service is very attentive and friendly. Unfortunately, the food disappointed us in every respect, the meat was marinated and therefore very soft and too salty. The side dishes came at the same time as the raw skewer. Once this is cooked, the side dishes are cold and it takes a very long time to cook them over the small flames. The taste is “ok” at best, but in this price range you are used to something different.

This restaurant offers a special experience. You can "grill" your own food at the fire tables. There is also a very good selection of side dishes. The service is excellent. Arrival by bus to Wenningstedt Mitte and walk down Strandstrasse to the end, about 10 minutes on foot, good to do. It's also worth visiting with children. Reservation is easy and recommended.

When we were on site there was only one service employee there. We had to wait almost an hour for the starter. After about 2.5 hours our main course was at the table. Given the prices quoted, such service planning is unacceptable.

A meal that stays in your memory. We have been guests at iismeer for 4 years now. A visit is definitely planned for your vacation on Sylt. The meat, fish and poultry are of absolute top quality and already very well seasoned. We had the menu today and were absolutely thrilled with the variety of starters. From the oyster to the olive to the tartare, everything was incredibly tasty and seasoned to the finest taste. The meal was rounded off with a dessert. All in all, another successful evening.

Went there for dinner and loved it. The quality of the food was great, there were six of us there and everyone had something different, but we all had something from the table grill. This alone makes it an event meal that you don't have every day. Of course it has its price, but it is worth every euro. The boss was very nice and sometimes had time to chat. Preislich grenzwertig (Gerichte und Getränke), selbst für Sylter Verhältnisse; die Leistung bzw was dafür auf den Teller kommt ist überschaubar. Service sehr nett, aber unaufmerksam. Terrasse zwar regenfest aber nicht "wetterfest", also im Winter: Jacken anziehen und bloß nicht in den Ecken sitzen. Es pfeift durch alle Ritzen. Dafür dann 90 Eur zahlen und hungrig gehen, weil man in der Ungemütlichkeit nicht länger als notwendig sitzen mag? Ich weiss nicht. Sicherlich eine nette Location im Sommer - aber dann nur für einen Snack und Sundowner.

Wir haben sehr kurzfristig für 2 Personen und einen großen ängstlichen Hund reserviert und der Chef hat absolut alles getan, damit er uns in einer ruhigen Ecke platzieren konnte, in der sich unser Hund sehr wohl gefühlt hat. Das Essen war super und der Service sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Wir haben den Abend sehr genossen und beim Verlassen des Lokales direkt noch mal reserviert.

Das Essen an sich war hervorragend. Unser Service-Mitarbeiter war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Leider hat der Chef höchst persönlich nach unserem Bitten die nicht aufgegessene Portion nicht eingepackt sondern verworfen. Schade!

Very good restaurant - just unfortunately overpriced. Food and grilling yourself at the table are brilliant, but €39.00 for an Iberico pork fillet skewer, which you still have to grill yourself (i.e. no kitchen service from a professional chef that would justify the price) + €1.50 per side dish just too much. Before the price increase, the meal cost €10 less and the side dishes were included. Furthermore, the in-house ice cream tastes very tasty, but the price for an "in-house consumption" of €3.80 / scoop (€2.50 away from home) is a bit steep, especially since the scoops are a "normal" size. Service is always friendly and competent, the atmosphere is cozy, with a view directly from the cliff to the west (perfect for sunsets)
