Olympia Grill in Dortmund

Delicious and highly recommended. Gyros often tastes strongly of pork (or a pigsty), but not here. 💚 Two suggestions for improvement: The "Taxi Plate" was listed at €9.50 on the menu board, but we were charged €11. The tomato and cucumber slices in the salad were cut to a rather large size. A little less coarse would be better, in my opinion. The place is busy, which is always a good sign. The cheese could be more flavorful. We'll gladly come again. See you soon, Dortmund! ✌️

Super delicious! A Greek grill that's been in the family for several generations. Quality over decades, with simply unbelievably good gyro skewers! The authentic Greek pita is also highly recommended. Sensational fries with fresh tzatziki are a treat you can't help but indulge in. The prices have remained affordable to moderate over the years. The portions are also very generous, often almost overwhelming. In the evening, it's advisable to call ahead; otherwise, you might have to wait half an hour to three-quarters of an hour for your food. An absolute recommendation!

We spontaneously went there yesterday, and it definitely won't be the last time. The food was amazing, the presentation was appetizing, and it was simply delicious. Even if you're really hungry, this is the place to go. Big praise to the hospitable staff behind the counter; you're doing a fantastic job. Thank you so much.

Because of the generous portions and delicious taste, many customers come, resulting in shorter waiting times when taking orders.

What can I say? I was here over 30 years ago. I lived around the corner and always came here with my grandma. I think my parents did it all back then, but I'm not sure, and of course I didn't ask. If you want delicious fries, gyros, etc., you can eat here without hesitation.

Ordered a gyro plate to go. Interestingly, the person after me was served first. Gyro was too greasy, fries were left in the fryer for too short a time, and tzatziki has been better. The farmer's salad was okay. The staff's friendliness could be improved. I wouldn't recommend it.

The food was very good, as always. However, the tzatziki on the fries wasn't as ordered, so the service was a point deducted.

I usually order takeout shortly beforehand. The timings are always reliable, the service is friendly, the quality is really good, and the price/performance ratio is just right (of course, prices go up sometimes, but when don't they). I've been coming back for almost 20 years... (mostly Metaxs gyros...)

Very friendly owners. Special requests were accommodated. The gyros are highly recommended. The Taxiteller is also delicious. The tzatziki is also very tasty. We're always happy to come back.

The food was, without exaggeration, really bad. I don't know how the good reviews came about. The food was lukewarm and soggy. The gyro was cold and the fries were soggy. The bifteki smelled unpleasant and only had a tiny bit of cheese. Everything tasted like it had been warmed up in a microwave. The driver passed our apartment twice and made two other stops beforehand. Live tracking via Lieferando. So never again. The worst food in a long time. Never again there.

So, I always put large pieces on the Olympia grill...and the food is always great...but there are other ways to scare away regular customers...literally... We were there with our dog, which isn't allowed inside (for whatever reason). Well, it was cloudy and we could see it might start to rain, so we sat down under the large umbrellas. The food arrived. And now comes the kicker...I managed to finish my pita...but there were still two half-drunk bottles on the table, a half-chip, and my wife still had a good half pita when they announced, "We have to close the umbrellas because it's starting to rain." No offer to eat inside for a bit or anything else. I mentioned it to the cashier again - no response - but I had to pay the full amount. Conclusion: There are other good Greek restaurants, and due to their rudeness, I won't be going back to this place. But things are going well anyway, so they won't care.

Good price-quality ratio. Large portions.

The standard dishes are decent, certainly better than at many other grills. The backyard is pure Ruhr region. A real recommendation.

Everyone was super nice and it's a really nice place, but I personally didn't like the gyro. There were three of us, and everyone else really enjoyed it.

Update 07/03/2025: After some time, we tried gyros with fries again. This time, too, cold fries were placed in the fryer with the fresh fries, which made them hard. While the gyros was delicious last time, this has changed now; unfortunately, it's no longer worth recommending. Among other things, we noticed that the manager at the cash register can't look customers in the eye and looks around the store and the street while paying. While the snack bar used to be full, no matter what time of day, it's not busy today, even at lunchtime. What a mess new staff can do. Old: The food is delicious, but it's been better. Gyros form a layer of oil on the plate, and cold fries are placed in the fryer with fresh fries – afterward, they become hard and inedible. The service staff is new and makes an effort to prepare everything quickly.

My mother and I came here for the first time yesterday and we are absolutely thrilled. The people who run this grill are incredibly friendly. Unfortunately, we only realized after our meal that they don't accept card payments, so we had to rush to the bank. The friendly lady refused our deposit and let us trust it, which I really appreciated and found extremely accommodating. The food was an absolute 10 out of 10. Delicious, well-seasoned, authentically Greek, and completely reasonably priced. The portions were also very generous, so you definitely go home with a full stomach. There was also a small terrace where you could sit in the pleasant temperatures, which was very harmonious and cozy, even though it was right on the street. We are completely satisfied and will definitely come again. :)

🤔👎 The Olympia Grill in Dortmund seems to have lost some of its quality recently. While the food is still "okay," the overall impression of the grill leaves a rather negative impression. Parking is very poor.

I don't know if it's the childhood memories, the exceptionally friendly service, or the delicious food that keeps bringing me back. I think I've tried just about every gyro in Dortmund, but nowhere have I been as satisfied as here. Everything here is just right for me. The value for money is also excellent. Wow, I feel like I'm in Crete. Greek is spoken, it smells of freshly fried food from the grill, super friendly team, cleanliness wow, great ambience, an orgasm for my taste buds... super tasty... Highly recommended, always happy and has been for decades

A really very cozy and authentic Greek. Not only the classics taste good here, but also the classic currywurst, fries or similar. The staff is always very friendly and creates a welcoming atmosphere. Really highly recommended for a little hunger in between or for a longer meal on site. That's also my recommendation here: a really good portion that tastes absolutely convincing.

There is a star deduction for Cash Only and lying to me that it is on their website, which it isn't after a thorough check of the website. And if so, then not in a prominent place where it could be read immediately.

The insider tip in the south of Dortmund The inconspicuously located restaurant on the Baroper market square has stood for delicious Greek food for decades. You can sit inside or, if the weather is good, outside for several years. In contrast to other local restaurants, the prices here are right and you get a lot of value for your money. The restaurant is family-run and it shows. You are greeted warmly, the employees are in a good mood and are always very friendly and helpful. It was recently renovated (looks really good!) A real tip for those who are really hungry is the gratinated Metaxagyros (Metaxa gyro plate) or the gratinated gyros with hollandaise sauce! My family and friends also appreciate the food and we like to come over more often. An absolute must after a tiring day with a craving for soul food.

I've been going there for 25 years when I'm hungry for a quick bite. I think it's a shame that the gyros are chopped up again after cutting. It would be juicier with larger pieces. The usual salads. Natural sheep's cheese is delicious. The tzatziki almost perfect. Curry/bratwurst ok. Hot dog/burger not so much. Very friendly, quick staff. Fast service with usually 6 people (!) behind the small counter. Perfect organization and teamwork. Places inside and outside on the street. Parking is not easy. Danger! Unfortunately, the individual prices have increased between a whopping 50%-67% from September 2020 to today. This can no longer be justified with price increases in purchasing and personnel.

The food is absolute madness. NEVER disappoint. Extremely well organized (sometimes with 4 or more people behind the counter) and even with a chain operation you can always pick up in 15-20 minutes if you order in advance by phone. Price-performance unbeatable in my opinion.

Hello friends of the Greek snack, We have been eating or picking up food at the Olympia Grill for years. To eat: The meat dishes are great with salad and fries on the side. Food eaters in particular get their money's worth (we always take one dish with us or have something left for the next day). About the ambience: It should not be assumed that you will be welcomed here in a restaurant atmosphere. It is a snack bar with its snack bar charm. Nevertheless, you have to be lucky to be able to get a seat there while people are constantly picking up the dishes they ordered and taking them home with them. Please be prepared that no card payment is possible (unless that has been changed). So enjoy it!

We ate there for the first time. It was very tasty and more than enough of everything like meat, fries or salad..... There are menus here for under 10 euros. I can highly recommend this little restaurant.

Just good. But you also have to say that the interior is getting older. A complete renovation would do the snack bar some good.

Rated bad twice recently but the last few times it was the same as before and simply very good. Gyros made to order, again nice and brown and very tasty. If you have a waiting period and communicate that, then you actually get everything exactly how you want it.

You can always eat well here. The staff is always friendly and the popularity of this restaurant speaks for itself. They come to the Olympic grill from all directions. Clear recommendation. But you have to be patient during peak times. But it's worth it. You can now even sit outside to eat. The portions are more than decent. Everyone should be satisfied here.

Best Greek! Super tasty and large portions. BUT: if possible, go there during the week, on a Sunday we had several half-raw gyros that we had to fry again at home. On the weekends it's just too crowded and they can't keep up with the orders.

Very tasty and plentiful dishes. The operators are very friendly. The ambience is more like a tavern in Greece, but it doesn't matter that much if it tastes good. The price is in the lower midfield, which is very nice. Definitely worth a visit.
