Best greek food around. Amazed by the nice food and polite staff. Worth it.

I'm beyond disappointed. The meat on my pita was substandard, presumably frozen. The pita bread wasn't real pita either, but from a discount store. It was also presented as if they didn't even know what a gyro pita should look like. I wouldn't recommend anyone ordering anything from there.

Unfortunately, this time the food was very disappointing. It was very dry and not particularly seasoned. The cheese, which I had paid for, was missing. It's a shame. It used to be tasty. On top of that, the price of some dishes has gone up by over 40 percent. I find that extremely harsh.

Unfortunately, the gyros always sell out way too early. On weekends, there are usually no gyros left after 7 p.m. What a pity.

The food is very good, the drinks are well chilled, and the service is very friendly.

I've probably eaten at over 10 Greek restaurants in my life – but I've never experienced a gyro like the one at Athen Grill 1986! Tender, juicy, perfectly seasoned, and grilled to perfection. If you think you know what a good gyro is, come here and experience the difference. Try it once – you'll be enchanted forever! I'll definitely be back… and bring friends!

I just pre-ordered something, and for the money you get, it's really outrageous. The staff is nice, but the food, especially if you take it out, is a real joke. If I'd known beforehand that you get so little for your money, I definitely would have ordered and eaten somewhere else. Last time.

Four of us ate there yesterday, and it was really great! 🩷 We had the warm appetizer platter, bifteki feta, gyro plate, salmon steak, and the Acropolis plate. The portions were large, so we were all stuffed afterward. 😂 We also tried the Greek beer, and that was also very good. Everyone at the restaurant is super nice and attentive. I can 100% recommend Athen Grill! 🥰

It closed 35 minutes before closing time, so I stayed hungry.

A 35-minute wait for a bifteki plate with fries and salad. Of course, I didn't have any feta cheese. The server said, "Sorry, but today (Saturday evening, 7 p.m.) there's only one cook on site." The food was well-seasoned. However, it's deteriorated considerably since the change of ownership. The atmosphere is very sterile; we liked it better in the past.

Athen Grill Asseln – Authentic Greek Delights in Dortmund! I visited the Athen Grill on Asselner Hellweg and was completely impressed! The food was fresh, delicious, and typically Greek – the gyro was perfectly seasoned and tender. I was particularly impressed by the saganaki with flames, a little show effect right at your table! The restaurant is clean, cozy, and the service was very friendly and attentive. You feel like you're on vacation in Greece! I will definitely be back and recommend it to anyone who loves Greek food!

Not only Greek but also excellent Mediterranean and German dishes, all in all a very good restaurant.

Naturally, one is curious to see what the Athen Grill has become after last year's renovation. Drinks are very reasonably priced. I ordered a Cretan plate with steak, souvlaki, gyros, and a choice of fries or rice (plus a slice of tastilyaki). Only the steak was a bit dry for my taste. The service was generally very attentive. The ambiance has improved compared to before. Since I have little experience with interior design, I can't really find much to criticize or add.

All the dishes are delicious. They have a very good selection. A little bit of Greece in Dortmund-Asseln. The house wine is also particularly outstanding. Keep up the good work. 👍

I ordered online and was amazed at how perfectly everything was prepared for pickup. This is how I imagine modern and fresh Greek cuisine! I ordered bifteki and a Greek salad - both were incredibly tasty, freshly prepared and very attractively packaged. You can immediately tell that the cooking here is done with a lot of love and passion. This restaurant is really a great asset for Asseln. Finally an address where quality, service and taste are just right. I'm already looking forward to my next visit and all I can say is: keep it up!

Great solution that makes you happy to order

We definitely won't go out to eat again. We wanted to order food and drinks there and got the food packed. Then we finished our drinks and went home with our food. Unpack the food. No ketchup, no mayo. Then no onions with my meal. And then 63 euros for that!!! Absolute no go. One star is still too many...

Stopped here by chance while passing through and ate. Very friendly service! The rice is super tasty, tomatoey and not as sticky as other Greeks. Metaxa sauce is a dream and juicy meat. Not that expensive either. Very happy again! :-)

WOW. I just picked up the food we ordered. A very nice restaurant. Service top. And the food is MEGA. The best gyros I've ever eaten. But the other dishes such as lamb, rump steak and the acropolis plate were also excellent. Everything grilled to perfection. We'll be back.

We took food to pick up. The gyro plate and the BVB plate were of very high quality and extremely tasty. Only the dollop of tzatziki was a bit small. But we'll talk about that in person next time. The staff is incredibly hospitable and nice. A clear recommendation from me!

The new owner lets the old tradition of Asseln / Wickede live on. Tasty food, extremely friendly service, good value for money. After the complete renovation, everything is bright and modern. You have to like that. For me, however, the comfort was missing. I ordered bifteki feta. The bifteki was grilled very well. For me, however, the feta was missing. Nevertheless, I definitely recommend the restaurant and wish the operators much success!

The Athens Grill has been open again under new management since December 25th, 2024. Delicious food, super friendly service and a new ambience. As a starter we had garlic bread and tzatziki with bread. As a main course, lamb fillet and gyros. Nothing to complain about.

A normal gyro stand where you can get everything you want in the Ruhr area. The atmosphere seems a bit confused and worn out by time, but the staff is always polite and helpful. The food is good and plentiful, which is not the case everywhere these days. See you soon

I have been there again for many years. I was amazed that the Greek is still there and nothing has changed in quality. I don't think even the furnishings have changed in over 20 years 🤣😂🤷🏼‍♀️ The food was really super tasty. The staff very friendly. The best was of course the ouzo 🤣🤣🤣🙈🙈😅😅

We are just disappointed with what we were offered today. No thanks, we won't go there anymore.

Have eaten there several times already. This time, however, was a complete disappointment. Otherwise there was either a dessert or an ouzo for dessert. None! On top of that, payment was refused at the table, we should please pay in the store, like the pick-up customers, like in a canteen. Customer service is different. The meat we ordered was so thin and small that I have never experienced with other Greeks. Cut like rubber. Seemed warmed up. But overloaded with fries. The small dollop of tzatziki was charged extra. The salad only contained traces of onion rings, even though we asked beforehand if they wanted them. Value for money was absolutely not right for me. We also did not receive an invoice or receipt. To make matters worse, on the way home we had stomach problems and felt extremely unwell. Definitely never again!

Very nicely designed restaurant with a Greek atmosphere. Very cozy and traditionally designed on the inside and you have the feeling of being in Greece. Staff very friendly and competent, as well as warm. The positions are orderly and appropriate. We weren't there this time due to time constraints, but we'll definitely stay next time. We'd love to come back.

To start the weekend, always enjoy delicious food at the Athens Grill. The dishes are lovingly prepared and the tzatziki is simply the best. The small appetizers such as the stuffed grape leaves are also very tasty. Many expensive restaurants can follow an example , so definitely go there.

It is by far the best Greek restaurant around, we have been eating there for years and have never been disappointed. Always tasty, always good portions, always friendly. Price-wise, completely okay. Cozy and traditional Greek restaurant. We can only recommend!!!

Das Gyros war vom Vortag und für den Preis nicht verhältnismäßig. Ein Wiedersehen gäbe es erst bei einem frischen Gyros Spieß.

Der beste Grieche in Asseln, egal ob Gyros Pita, Schnitzel oder Pommes es ist alles immer perfekt. Der Inhaber und das Personal sind super freundlich und sehr kinderfreundlich. Ich kann ihn nur empfehlen. Holen dort schon seit fast 15Jahren Essen.

Mein Sohn und ich holen uns da zwischendurch mal einen Taxiteller ,immer lecker aber zum mitnehmen, der Imbiss liegt leider direkt am Hellweg in Asseln, also etwas laut trotz der Bepflanzung, sonst nett und freundlich, auch Gyros Pita immer lecker ( denn Dönerläden gibt's schon genug in Asseln)gut mal was griechisches zu bekommen 👍

Sehr gemütlich trotz Hauptstraße. Man kann auch draußen sizen,wo man von der Sonne sehr gut geschützt ist. Drinnen sehr gemütlich wo man noch Privat sitzen kann,sich gemütlich unterhalten wo nicht gleich der Nachbar mithört. Toilette eine Etage höher durch Treppen erreichbar. Das Essen ist immer eine Geschmackssache deshalb von mir 3 Sterne 🌟

Alex führt das Geschäft seit 1986 glaube ich, das spricht schon für sich. Ich bin dort Gast seit der Eröffnung. Das Essen ist dort durchweg einfach nur Perfekt. Das Pitta Spezial ist legendärer und ich fahre oft über 25 km quer durch Dortmund um dort zu essen. Große Portionen, gute Qualität, Preise 👍🏻. Die Bedienung ist immer gut und herzlich. Das Essen zum mitnehmen ist immer gut verpackt und auch wenn es mal für viele Personen ist. Alex danke für den Ouzo im Sommer 87. 😉😉

Das Gyros auf dem Gyros-Teller war eine Kinderportion. Bifteki wurde ohne Füllung bestellt, aber mit serviert. Geschmacklich okay aber überteuert. Es gibt bessere und günstigere Griechen.

ABZOCKE inklusive ÜBELKEIT Besitzer und Personal RAUCHEN im LOKAL - NO GO! Rechnung wird erst nach Aufforderung gegeben. Souvlaki Teller bestellt und es wurde gefragt ob zaziki erwünscht ist, anschließend wurde es EXTRA berechnet ca. 1,50€ für einen Esslöffel zaziki, so ne Unverschämtheit. Die Speisekarte ist nicht aufschlussreich und nicht aktuell und total unprofessionell. Am Abend zuhause ging es los mit der ÜBELKEIT und den BAUCHSCHMERZEN. Der Laden macht KEINEN SAUBEREN Eindruck!

Ich war heute mit meinen Jungs da gewesen hat super geschmeckt alles frisch . Der Besitzer ist sehr freundlich und professionell mir hat das Ambiente sehr gut gefallen .Am Ende gab es noch einen sehr sehr leckeren Nachtisch der aufs Haus ging Danke dafür ich komme immer wieder gerne

Habe Befteki mit Reis bestellt. Salat war auch dabei. Reis war nur leicht gewürzt, kenn sonst den Paprikareis. Befteki war lecker, nur so dünn und klein, wie ich es noch nicht beim Griechen erlebt habe. Der kleine Klacks Zaziki wurde extra berechnet. Preis- Leistung stimmte für mich nicht. Werde andere besuchen!

Urige location,sehr freundliches Personal, leckeres und reichhaltiges Essen, als Abschluss einen Uzo oder keiner Nachtisch on top. Wir kommen auf alle Fälle wieder .

Der beste Grieche der Stadt Gehe fast wöchentlich dort essen und bestelle mir fast immer den Mykonos Teller und es ist jedes Mal ein neues Geschmackserlebnis. Alex ist super freundlich und der beste Koch er wechselt öfters seine Soßen und das beste ist das alles selbstgemacht ist. Das Ambiente ist Orginal Griechisch und damit perfekt für den Laden ! Weiter so!

Wir (11 Personen) waren heute(15.Januar ) zum ersten Mal zu Gast im Athen Restaurant und haben einen Geburtstag dort gefeiert. Wir hatten einen separaten Bereich Oben, der allen gut gefiel. Wir haben Kreuz und quer durch die Karte bestellt und ich persönlich hatte den Santorini Teller bestellt. Das Fleisch war super saftig und wirklich gut gewürzt. Die Pommes waren knusprig und die Portionen insgesamt waren meiner Meinung nach wirklich in Ordnung und das für den günstigen Preis. Was ich unbedingt hervorheben möchte ist, dass das Personal sehr freundlich ist und wir uns alle sehr willkommen gefühlt haben. Alles in allem war es ein sehr schöner gelungener Abend. Ich kann jedem Einzelnen empfehlen hier hin zu gehen.

Früher war der Laden echt top, allerdings ist er in die Jahre gekommen sowohl von der Aufmachung als auch von der Qualität des Essens. Sehr Schade..

Leckeres Essen, freundliches Personal!

VORSICHT!!!! ABSOLUTE ABZOCKE!!! 2x Gyrosteller 1x kleinen Gyrosteller 2 Einzelne Bifteki (je bifteki ca 60-80g) 2x Sprite 2x Bier 1x Cola alles kleine! Ach ja.. noch 2 Ouzo..... keine 25€ auch keine 35€ nein für gute Freunde 65€ !!!!! Natürlich ohne Rechnung weil, ist besser fürs Finanzamt! Natürlich haben wir angefragt wie sich die Abrechnung zusammen setzt und dann wurde uns eine Rechnung aufgemacht die der Hammer war! Gyrosteller 8,50€ (es sei noch erwähnt das die Portionen echt klein waren) aber nur außer Haus, wenn man da isst kostet der Spaß 13€ 😀 und ein Bifteki, was nicht viel größer war als ein Macheboxauto, kostet zum da Essen nur schlappe 4€ wohl bemerkt 1 Bifteki! Sprite ect. 3€ ....... Ich habe schon viel erlebt nur so eine Abzocke habe ich selbst an der Hafenpromenade von Rhodos nicht erlebt, die bekannt ist für extreme Abzocke. Nie wieder werden wir einen Fuß in diesem schammeligen Laden setzen! Hoffentlich bleibt euch das Geld im Hals stecken! Abschließend sei noch gesagt, dasd der Junge Mann der uns bedient hat einen guten Job gemacht hat.

Hier bekommt man frisch gemachte Mahlzeiten. Die klassischen Grillteller, aber auch gebratene Auberginen und Zucchini. Das Preis Leistungsverhältnis ist gut und der Service auch. Wir können geschützt draussen sitzen und obwohl es direkt am Hellweg liegt, stört dieser überhaupt nicht. 👍

Guter Griechischer Imbiss. Sehr freundlicher Service. Preis/Leistungs Verhältnis gut. Lediglich das Ambiente in sehr kleinem Räumlichkeiten ist etwas zu überladen. Man kann aber auch direkt vor der Tür in einem sehr geräumigen Zelt Speisen.

Sehr netter Gastgeber und ausreichend große Portionen. Wenn wir Mal wieder in der Nähe sind, würden wir wieder vorbeikommen.
