Old Station - Restaurant in Kaiserslautern

We were there on a Saturday evening with a reservation. The service was unfortunately a disaster. It started with a much too long wait for our drinks and culminated in the waitress "correcting" us when we asked if the extra avocado dip had been forgotten. We were told, "No, avocado was ordered specifically for the burger, you didn't order a dip." That was: 1. A simple lie 2. A simple mistake (there was no avocado on the burger) 3. A simple impolite, because it should have been the smallest thing to do to simply bring a dip instead of starting such a discussion. The food itself was delicious, but the ambiance was too loud and, given the two connected restaurants, much too hectic. The service was unfortunately abysmal.

Interesting place. The pasta was good, but stay away from the "steak". It's not a good cut, and it was smothered in some red, odd flower smelling, herb tasting, glaze? I'd recommend passing on the pre made frozen dessert.

The value for money is good. The food was good, but not outstanding. The burger meat could have been juicier. The service was very friendly. We were asked if everything was okay far too often. The restaurant is very loud, and you can't really have a conversation.

The food was good. The two restaurants, "Milano" and "Old Station," have been combined with a shared menu. Due to the two separate kitchens, the dishes didn't arrive at the same time during our visit. For the burger, you could choose between fries, sweet potato fries, and curly fries. You also had to choose a sauce to go with the fries. When the restaurant owner came to collect the bill, we noticed the surcharges of €1 for each sauce and €1 for the curly fries. ...

Prices have risen quite a bit. Service was okay, food was decent, but it didn't really impress...

Great food and such a nice experience. The staff were attentive and had fantastic customer service. There was a gentleman who was walking around checking on the tables (maybe the owner or manager) and was such a kind and hospital man. I will definitely recommend and go back with my family.

The food was good, the service very friendly, but the positive impression was completely ruined by the manager. Apparently, he's the only one doing the cash register, and we had to wait what felt like an hour for that. When he finally came into view, he didn't come straight over to us, but instead chatted quietly with other guests. When we paid, there was an awkwardly long pause, obviously expecting a tip, before he entered the amount into the card reader. As we left, we received a condescending look. It's a shame, because the food and service (without the manager) were really good.

The burgers weren't tasty at all, unfortunately. The fries aren't included with the burger; you have to order them separately. It's a shame, really. PS - I was asked if I enjoyed the food. I also said at the time that I didn't. The employee then said, "I'm sorry." I would have had to pay for a new order myself, and they didn't accommodate me on the price either. So, what the owner replied, that we should have talked about it, was done, but it didn't help. At the time, the fries were served separately. If that's changed now - great! For me personally, it's not tasty, but it might be true for some people.

Absolute dream, great atmosphere 🫶🏼

No, it was poorly presented and the ambiance was simply bare...the food wasn't good. The salad...well...iceberg lettuce with a slice of cucumber and a slice of tomato...the fries were okay...the schnitzel was okay... But tasty is something else entirely... When we paid, it wasn't the waiter who came, but someone we hadn't seen yet, and he barely spoke German...unbelievable.... We won't be going there again.

To pay, everyone would have to go to the cash register individually. That doesn't sound contemporary to me.

Vegan burgers used to be a hit... now a flop... In the past, you could compensate for the small size of the vegan patties by packing up to three into a burger. Today, this option has been removed, and only a patty smaller than the bun size is offered. So, a vegan burger is now vegan because you're eating bread without any contents most of the time! It's also more expensive with one patty than it used to be with three.

Absolutely mouthwatering pizza. I ordered a medium veggie but a small would have sufficed.

There were four of us there. Two shared an appetizer and asked for a small extra plate. It was simply forgotten. The appetizer came with a side dish (?). In this case, mozzarella glaze with fries. I personally find it unnecessary; it could have been a main course. One person got the wrong dish; the appetizer plates weren't cleared away. I had a burger. The meat was unseasoned, dry, and overcooked. The dishes never arrived at the same time, and at the beginning, the same person asked for drinks twice in a row 🤔 2 stars for the homemade iced tea and the fries.

Almost everything was top, food, ambience, service, everything was good, except for the toilets, I can only speak for the men's toilet, it needs urgent renovation

Very noisy due to large rooms, poor ventilation

The service was very friendly, the food (beef and scampi) was good, but the atmosphere wasn't exactly cozy due to the cardboard boxes lying around the dining room. There's room for improvement. We won't be coming here from Lucerne anymore.

We were a group of 15 people and had reserved an outdoor table a week earlier. When we arrived at 5:30 p.m., all the tables were empty...the staff stood there looking bored. I asked for our table and were assigned one. Our table was very dirty; it was a long table with no decorations and very dusty, not a pretty sight! We hadn't even sat down yet when the menus were simply thrown onto the table. The waitress wanted to take our order right away! We ordered drinks. The waitress said she would take our food orders right away. Okay, so we quickly chose our drinks and food. Many of us ordered the "homemade lemonade." The drinks arrived very quickly. The homemade lemonade was undrinkable. It was just water, I think from the tap, then sugar syrup that was absolutely overly sweet, two ice cubes, and three small raspberries. It was undrinkable! How can you serve something like that? The food came right after we ordered, so everything was already prepared! Many of us had different burgers; I had the Tropical. The burger was lukewarm and the salad topping was already wilted. I had ordered sweet potato fries separately, of course at an extra cost; they were also lukewarm and drenched in grease, and the others had the same experience. Unfortunately, I can only give this place one star, if at all; the name is fitting! When we left, only four tables were occupied. The tip of the iceberg were the restrooms—once and never again!

Not so good Schnitzel not recommended

The appetizer was delicious. However, the appetizers didn't arrive at the same time. Burgers were good. Chicken wings too. But every sauce for the wings and fries was somehow bad, tasted stale. I couldn't eat them. The fries were very good, though. Service was okay. But we didn't even know what was on the menu or whether they served bread with the appetizer.

We were here today and the food was almost good so far, but we had the problem that we didn't get the side salad that was on the menu with the main course. For one of us the steak was cold and the sauce had already pulled the skin and apparently the same steak was warmed up again and then still cold and ten. You can eat burgers there, but unfortunately not steak and the starter was also good. Wait time more than 1 hour.

1 star for the food is still too much. Ordered steak with pepper sauce. Steak came to the table after 1.5 hours. Steak was ice cold. Sauce was extra on the plate but already with a film on top. Let the steak go straight back. Placed the steak on the grill plate again and cut it open on the side. But the steak was still ice cold and now well done. Ordered it medium. The waitress then said if it wasn't ok then they would do it again. It was just before 9. We got to the restaurant around 6:45 p.m. Didn't have to pay for the steak after I said I couldn't eat it. I had to wait another 15 minutes until my steak came back from the kitchen, where it was supposedly on the grill again. (Still cold) The salads as written on the menu were 3 dishes, none of us got 3. However, two friends who had warm food had to pay for it. There was also the statement that there was a lot going on and that had been the case since this morning. Well, as a guest, that's not my problem because no matter what time I come, the food always has to be the same. So I walked out of the restaurant after over 2 hours without eating. So once and never again.

An evening full of surprises – unfortunately of the wrong kind After visiting the state horticultural show grounds, we decided to try out a new restaurant. Expectations were high – the logo looked promising, the website was professional, and the term “homemade” sounded like music to our hungry ears. The children's portion of spaghetti with tomato sauce was more than al dente and the balsamic strips were not well received by my child. The salad turned out to be a sad, watered-down affair - the dressing was probably from the bottle, but not even shaken well. The leaves looked as if they had been lying in ice water for hours and had long since thawed. A taste explosion was a strand of lettuce that turned out to be a wide vegetable onion The burgers with juicy patty were a tough lump of meat, obviously pulled from the warming container - dry, slightly dried out around the edges. The rolls are dry, the salad is watery, the side dishes are tired. We didn't want to spoil it and ordered the “homemade lemonade”. With a look behind the counter - which in hindsight I would have liked to have spared myself - I saw a waitress tipping a brightly colored ready-made bottle into a carafe and refining it with syrup. Not a lemon wedge in sight. Then came the moment that topped everything: a long, dark hair peeked out from under the fries and on the tomato in the salad. I called the waitress, asked the boss and Wiesen politely and waited for an apology. Instead, the man just smiled and said, "Well, the boss is in the hospital right now, I'm just his brother. Something can happen." With his smile he pointed out to us that we couldn't expect a 5 star restaurant here. He also accepted the lack of hygiene. No apology, no compensation, just a shrug that said, “Be glad you got anything at all.” The only thing that wasn't accounted for was everything on the bill. The restaurant would then refrain from saying goodbye. We left angry and disappointed - with a lot to talk about for the rest of the evening. Maybe it used to be good here. Today it is a place full of excuses, finished products and hair twists.

Unfortunately nothing was homemade, neither the homemade lemonade (water with ready-made raspberry syrup and a few frozen raspberries), sauces supposedly homemade sour cream (was remoulade), avocado sauce on the burger was a mashed, unseasoned avocado, burger patty was also uncut. When paying, the boss asked if everything was okay, I said no, but only strange objections, there was no response to what the guest had to say, if he wasn't interested he shouldn't ask anything like that doesn't work at all. Price and performance are not right here.

Very family friendly, food delicious

The place was beautiful. Burger was good.. Boneless wings were awful. They couldn't serve liquor before 1700 for some reason. The wait staff was very inattentive, with multiple tables waiting for their bills. There are better options, but the place does look nice inside.

Unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurant. Fries were rubbery and gritty on the outside. The burgers had a strange taste overall. The rolls didn't taste like anything. The drinks... raspberry and mango lemonade... well-intentioned... poorly done. Bottom line - a lot of money for little quality.

The best food in Kaiserslautern and kid’s friendly place..a lot of parking lots space.i 😍 loved it

The store is actually nicely laid out. It's a little too bright, so it looks a little uncomfortable. The waitress was friendly and helpful. The menu is varied and also has vegetarian and vegan alternatives. Unfortunately, the nice waitress couldn't answer the question as to whether the Mac 'n' Cheese Patty was homemade. The food was good. If you want to recreate a Mac n Cheese burger, you can find very similar patties on the website of the gastro frozen food provider "SALOMON FoodWorld". There you can also find visually very similar pork schnitzels, visually very similar veggie wings, visually very similar "old station" sauce and many other visually very similar products. I assume that this is a coincidence, because a real restaurant doesn't just use so many frozen products that you can find on Google within seconds.

Cozy, cheerful atmosphere with rustic decor. Reminds me of Brazilian steakhouses. Well-served and delicious burgers with a wide variety. Fast and friendly service. Average prices.

This is one of the best restaurants in Kaiserslautern and the surrounding area! They serve high-quality, authentic and inexpensive western burgers (e.g. Texas Burger, Avocado Burger, BBQ Burger, Old Station Burger and many other varieties) - all with French fries or delicious sweet potato fries, an excellent selection of the highest quality steaks, various schnitzel plates, salads, a large selection of appetizers as well as excellent beers, wines and cocktails. You won't be disappointed. Additionally, the owner and staff take great pride in their work! The interior of the restaurant is beautiful and fitting for a western hamburger/steak restaurant. I used to live in Kaiserslautern and often visited this restaurant and the adjacent Milano's Restaurant (which I thought was the best wood-fired pizzeria in Kaiserslautern). I visit Kaiserslautern every year from the USA and never miss an opportunity to eat at these two restaurants. 5+ star restaurant! *** This is one of the best restaurants in Kaiserslautern and surrounding area! (Earlier!! Please read completely) Delicious food, although a bit more expensive. The owner is probably the same as the one from Milano next door, so the waiters don't get tips. Therefore it is not necessary to give any. The ambience is nice, sat outside on the terrace. Edit: I've now given it two more chances and both times the steak was absolutely tough and inedible. Both had jaw pain afterwards. Stay away from the steak! Edit2 (response to owner): The fact that tips don't reach the employees is a fact that I've had employees confirm several times over the years. I think everyone can form their own opinion and ask questions for themselves! When we pointed out that the steak was far too tough, we responded with an "oh, I'm sorry" and nothing more. So we noted this in a timely manner. The price would be justified, yes. If only the steak were actually edible. But unfortunately it isn't, and once again. However, I find an answer like yours to be absolutely cheeky; you are simply shifting the blame instead of making improvements. After this answer from our side, definitely never again!

Great atmosphere, fantastic customer service, and tasty food. I went with a friend on a Sunday afternoon. We were promptly seated and menus brought out shortly after. We ordered drinks and food. The house burger is sizeable and very tasty. The sweat potato fries were also very delicious. Overall, the whole dinning experience was fantastic. I highly recommend this restuarant.

I was today I ate an 11/10 indescribably delicious burger with my wife, and for my wife's birthday there was singing and a cake candles brought a mega atmosphere

Bad conditions, unfriendly and if there are problems they can't clarify it in front of the customers the toilets are so dirty and the faucet doesn't work properly either And my food was just bad I had a burger and the meat was dry, the bacon was dry and the bun was hard and also dry So completely not recommended

Unfortunately it left a bad impression for me. Like in a canteen. Staff watched football even though we sat without drinks. Maybe just caught a day like that.

Let's start with the positive: This is a cool location. Very modern furnishings. And now the negative. 2/1/2024 Table reserved for 7:30 p.m. everything was good and drinks were ordered and everything was okay. Got food, not okay. Ordered rump steak twice, once medium rare and once medium. Plus two burgers with sweet potato fries. The steaks arrived after 20 minutes and that's where the dilemma began. The sauce was cold, the mixed salad looked like carnage (two slices of cucumber, two slices of tomato). The tomatoes were still almost green. The steaks were both cooked beyond the level of doneness ordered and also had a bitter taste because they had been on the grill for too long. The burgers our wives ordered came 20 minutes later, when we were already finished. Absolute no-go. We ended up going there to eat together. Fries cold, sauce on the burger tasteless. Once and never again. The manager of the store wasn't really accommodating, let alone accommodating. I only heard fleeting excuses: people sick, too many guests, poor communication between grill and kitchen, etc. If I know that more guests are coming than I can handle, I prefer to turn them away and maintain my quality assurance despite having fewer staff. But that's where the greed for more comes to the fore. I'm a restaurant worker and chef myself, and I would never treat a paying customer that way. Not a recommendation for me.

Unfortunately, I didn't think the food was that good. Had one of the burgers, but the meat was extremely dry & the Old Station sauce didn't make it any better. Long waiting time due to the waitress, who wanted to keep every guest in the store due to the low number of visitors. In combination with the higher price, unfortunately I don't recommend it. First and last visit.

Surprisingly cozy, the atmosphere is a mixture of a stable and a train station, spacious, warm, comfortable. Lots of space. The food was really good, great burgers, delicious desserts, quick service.

We had Christmas Day dinner today. We were 3 adults and 2 children, we ordered various burgers and a chicken skewer. The burgers were absolutely great, I haven't had such good fries in a long time, and the chicken skewer was also recommended. The portions are really big, you'll definitely be full. Nice courteous staff.

We got a table for 9 people at very short notice for today (Christmas Day). The service was excellent, friendly, and the drinks and food were brought to our tables very quickly. We all had different dishes, which tasted great.

We're here often. We were back a few days ago and this time opted for the grilled plate options. That was also very, very good, as expected! I highly recommend it 👍

Has a good cheese pizza here. Quick, fast service. Plenty of seating for your family or party. It was cold in the restaurant but quickly brought over a portable heater when asked. Very nice place and location. Will definitely come back again in the spring months when doors and windows can be open.

Delicious food, relaxed atmosphere, meat and burger dishes from the grill, simply top

We were there yesterday with a larger group, including five children. The service was very nice and friendly. We all enjoyed the food. We had a selection of different burgers and two children's schnitzels. An extra plate for the little ones was no problem and was happily served. We'd be happy to come back.

Had lunch and it was pretty quiet which was perfect to decompress from work. Mango habanero is just hot enough and the BBQ honey sauce was perfect.

After 25 minutes there still was no service person. It was just cold in there. So in a restaurant you should pay some attention to the well-being of the customers. We then went to another restaurant without saying anything that had 5+ stars in all areas. I can't say anything about the food because we didn't get any food. But according to friends, food should taste good. Maybe We were just there on the wrong day.

Went to the Old Station for the first time today and definitely not the last time. Homemade lemonade was great and the food was excellent across the board and first of all the dessert. I'm not a fan of sweets but I would have liked to have had more space here to eat every dessert. Service was excellent and attentive, I often asked if everything was OK without seeming intrusive. Rarely where you are explicitly asked again in a restaurant whether the degree of doneness of the steak is right. There were 5 of us and we had two strollers with us and we were there for almost 3 hours and at no time did they come and push us or do anything else that they needed the space, even though we came without a reservation and it got really crowded

What we got was very good. Both the burger and the meat in general very good. Strange that they make you pay for the bowl of mustard!! A little chilly environment... an old renovated warehouse but they put us right at the entrance.

Good ambience, good service but the food. Now was the second chance but unfortunately it was nothing again. The quantity was too much, the starters and the main courses meat was really dry and firm and everything tasted the same! No play with fresh or sour notes to relax the palate. This time I didn't express any direct criticism of the service, but I wasn't really asked when I said it was like that.

The burger at Oldstation was simply fantastic! Perfectly roasted meat, fresh ingredients and a bun that not only looks good but also tastes great. Everything was harmonious and prepared to a high quality. If you're looking for a really good burger, you should definitely stop by here!

Fun atmosphere with very friendly service! We didn’t have a reservation but were seated right away. Our drink orders were taken right away and brought out quickly. We ordered mozzarella sticks for an appetizer and burgers for our meal. The mozzarella sticks came out fast and were on a bed of French fries. The mozzarella sticks were delicious, not greasy, and had a nice dipping sauce. The burgers came out about fifteen minutes after we finished our appetizer and were wonderful. The bun was soft and fresh and had a little sweetness to it. The avocado tasted great on my burger and I added bacon that was crispy. The burgers came with a side of fries. The server was very friendly and when we went up to pay we were greeted my another very friendly staff member. They have a large selection of food and drinks. We will definitely go back.

Nice shop - good atmosphere :-) The service was all very nice, only the beginning was a bit bumpy. We got a seat without a reservation and then had to wait about 10 minutes for service. That didn't bother us that much, we had enough time for the map but the wait makes us thirsty. All's well that ends well - we were full, the food was good and plentiful. We recommend the chicken wings with honey BBQ sauce and the schnitzel was said to be very tasty :-)

Delicious food and friendly service

It could be cleaner, there were a lot of cobwebs on the window right at eye level. I accidentally got to the plants and a lot of leaves fell off, it's a shame

Food was good . The tomato soup was on point however no bread or crackers to go with it. My wife’s chicken wings were great , good flavor , not dry , dipping Sauce was great. However for a place that was no very busy maybe 20 People there the place hold about 75-100 people …the service was bad …. Order a bottle water never got it even asking for a second time never got it , Ask for pepper 10 mins later , she brings salt , as for napkins and bought them when we finish dinner. Trying to find her for the check didn’t happen we had to ask another person bring it , he could tell we were not happy with the service there. Could have been just an off night for that place but 1st impression go a long way. We wil not go back just because of the slow and poor service they had on what I see as a slow night

We were 2 adults and 1 child. 1. the ambience: It's nothing special, but everything you need is there (children's chair, etc.). The chairs are quite uncomfortable outside. 2. the service: I'm just describing my daily experience. We were greeted quite friendly, but not very welcoming. After I told the waitress that we would like to eat in the restaurant, he led us to our seat. We got the tickets. My husband's card fell apart. It already happens. When the next waitress came to take our order, her listlessness was unbeatable. No smile or anything similar. Words like “anything else?” are not really appropriate when serving in a restaurant. I then gave her the card that was broken again and said kindly that unfortunately it was broken. It came back: ah ok. End of story and it was placed on the pile of other cards. In general, the waitresses were all very unmotivated that day. I understand it wasn't busy and it was very warm. Everything was good, but we didn't feel comfortable at all. More like a burden that you just have to work off... What a shame! 3. the food was delicious, but we simply found it too expensive. 70€ for 3 people, including 1 small child. We had 2 burgers, 3 non-alcoholic drinks and 1 children's meal. It was a hamburger, it was definitely too expensive for a children's meal. Unfortunately we only noticed this too late. Conclusion: the food is delicious, the rest is okay. We won't be visiting anymore.

This place was pretty cute and a convenient choice for a quick bite to eat! I got the Mozzarella Schnitzel and it was really really good and fresh!

Visited OS yesterday for dinner. The service was excellent. Our waiter (A Bulgarian) checked on us multiple times and removed complete meal plates expediently. The strawberry lemonade was tasty, and the athmosphere in the old station made one feel welcome. The food however was not something that would make me return to this establishment. I had the largest advocado burger (image), but had not advocado. It was commercial and old tasting guacamole. The burger patties were overcooked and dry with no taste. The burger itself cost 18 Euros, but was not even accomponied by fries, which I feel was unfortunate for the cost. I added a "spiegelei" (Fried Egg), which was fully cooked and cost 2.50 Euros which is basically almost a carton of eggs. Another dish that we had was the "Mozarella Schnitzel" (ESCALOPE WITH MOZZARELLA), which was thin and togh. It's a matter of fact, it was so tough, that it had to be cut with a serrated knife. Usually, I try to give restaurants multiple tries, but on this occasion, it ill be a hard pass.

Salad was inedible, schnitzel was fine. Burgers were good. The boss comes to collect in person, so whether the waitress gets a tip is questionable.

The food tasted very good. The burgers are just way too high to eat with your hand. It is possible to order the vegetarian burger as the other burger variants (which is unfortunately not on the menu) here the vegetarian burger as the avocado burger. The price-performance ratio is just ok. The service was nice.

Its gotten way worse of the years the prices have skyrocketed the cleanliness is bad the atmosphere is below okay. My favorite burger got took of the menu. I would go as far as to saying burger King would be a better option due to it having better prices, faster serving time and being cleaner. Short formed: Find a different restaurant

Were here for the first time today, everything was great, very good burgers, would love to come back...... Everything was good 👍👍
