I stopped in for the first time today, just on a whim. Delicious! Gluten-free options were available. Very friendly service. I'll definitely be back. I had the eggplant rolls (appetizer). Absolutely scrumptious.

We felt very comfortable and would love to come back. We booked another appointment for Christmas yesterday and are already looking forward to it. 🍹

A definite recommendation. We were actually already late, and the kitchen was just about to close. Nevertheless, we were still served. The food was absolutely delicious. One star deducted for the steak, which was supposed to be medium, but was still very rare, a bit too rare. Very nice ambiance, and the owner and his wife were very friendly. All in all, we would definitely come back.

Enjoyment with Greek flair – perhaps a real insider tip! It was our first time in this small, charming Greek restaurant and we loved it! The service was exceptionally friendly and attentive - you feel welcome and in good hands from the first moment. The ambience is lovingly designed and the small details are actually reminiscent of Greece. The interior is a bit cramped and you sit quite close to the other guests, but that also gives the whole thing a bit of the feeling of a convivial evening in a tavern on the Mediterranean. In terms of cuisine, the restaurant stands out from many other Greek restaurants: there is much more here than just the classic Santorini plate. The menu also features surprising and creative dishes that you don't find everywhere - and everything we tried was absolutely delicious! We particularly recommend ordering several starters to share – a real treat and a great way to start the evening. Conclusion: A wonderful restaurant with heart, taste and personality. The repetition factor? Clearly 50% – we will definitely be back! (50% because we don't like sitting close together)

Tasteful mezes! Chicken with onion and red pepper was delicious! Half Levreki portion was really small, price may be reduced. It is really nice to have fries and salad as menu. Genereally prices are reasonable but must be discussed to reduce them. Non-English menu is not tourist-friendly!

We visited Odyssia for the first time today and we were thrilled. The garlic bread was extremely fluffy and simply delicious. My boyfriend had his best gyro with a gratin, and I had a delicious pork fillet with spinach and cheese. The meat was extremely tender and juicy, and everything was perfectly seasoned. The ambiance reminded us of a taverna in Greece. We simply felt at home and will be back. ❤️

Too bad. As is so often the case in restaurants these days, it's at least half a mess. When we arrived, we were told we were expected "yesterday." Stupid. Because we were given an improvised table combination facing the wall. Great. That's exactly how I imagine a nice evening. The place was barely full, but the glasses were all the emptier. I had to "ask" three times to come to the table with eight people and offer them something to drink. That's incredibly annoying. The guest wants to have a nice evening, with their thoughts on their friends, not on their minds, "When the hell will the waiter finally come by and ask if everything's OK!" Horrible. My bifteki was delicious. The ambiance was typical. You have to raise your voice to even reach person number 6 at the back... Annoying. Welcome to soundproof ceilings made in Germany. That would be progress.

We spontaneously reserved a table here because we were still looking for a place for dinner. Just in case, we reserved a table with an extremely friendly lady who very kindly squeezed us in. When we got there, we stood in front of the lady, and here too, she was just super nice. So, kudos to her! You could tell she loves her job! A table was then made for us outside, and we immediately started ordering. The selection on the menu left nothing to be desired. We were "forgotten" twice when it came to drinks. I think the young man was still a bit overwhelmed with his job. But let's turn a blind eye. He politely apologized. The food was delicious. However, the wait was a little "long," but still acceptable. However, it shouldn't have been much longer. The atmosphere was inviting. Apart from the wait and the several forgotten drinks, everything was fine.

An authentic Greek tavern with friendly family-run owners. Plenty of choice of food and drinks. Despite the restaurant being full, the drinks and food came promptly. Even Greeks eat there, which is a good sign. We enjoyed it. What is, however, a small drawback: fairly high prices (like everywhere else these days), the menus were tattered and needed to be redone. The starter platter for two people (€40) was enough for the seven of us. Everything your heart desires and delicious. My lamb skewer was tender and the gyros were good. The fries were a bit too thick for me, which is of course a matter of taste. The side salad was ok. Leaf lettuce with a piece of tomato and some cucumber with vinegar oil, that would also work better. The tzaziki with the gyros was good. The district in Rüttenscheid is popular, reservations are mandatory.

Excellent Greek cuisine and top service in the heart of Rüttenscheid. We have been guests at the Odyssia several times and always enjoy coming back. The selection of dishes is typically Greek, of excellent quality and with very decent portion sizes. Our favorite is the large appetizer platter for two as in the photo from February 2024. The service is very attentive, unobtrusive and very friendly, you feel very welcome. Since it is located in the middle of Rüttenscheid, parking is an adventure and due to the high occupancy, a reservation is recommended. Update 10.2024 - as can be seen in the second picture, the quality of the mezze plate is consistently excellent. And another big compliment - five of us spontaneously went to the Odyssia on a Friday - even though almost all the tables were occupied and there were only two of the team in service, we got a table and were served reasonably quickly and, as always, very friendly. Simply great, such a service concept!

Greek food, dishes are filling and very good, very rich, you can feel the good taste, and the customer service is excellent. Highly recommended the truth, they have good music and they gave us some snaps before we left.

Authentic Greek restaurant with friendly service and very good food. It also offers dishes that are not available in other Greek restaurants. Unfortunately it's a bit noisy and finding a parking space is difficult due to the location.

Very nice *Greek summer house* ambience in white with warm accents and indirect blue lighting. Well coordinated. The service was excellent. Even though it was very full, we still managed to get a seat without a reservation. The appetizers and drinks were good. The main courses too, unfortunately the quality of the meat is somewhat inferior. Gladly again, but then other main courses. The portions were also a bit too big, but you can have the leftovers packed up. And I found the prices a bit excessive.

Mal wieder sehr lecker, das Personal wie immer sehr bemüht. Aber ab 19.00, wenn es richtig voll wird, ist es unangenehm laut hier. Auch Gäste, die aus verschiedenen Gründen, am Eingang auf irgendwas warten fallen unangenehm auf. Fühlt sich an wie Haltestelle oder Bahnhof. Wie man das anders lösen kann weiß ich nicht. Gemütlich ist leider anders.

The ambience is nice, but unfortunately the gyros were far too dry. Last time it was much tastier and juicy. At almost 17 euros you can't ask for good gyros? The older gentleman didn't want to let us finish the cappuccino we had taken with us, which was still two sips full in the restaurant...sorry?

Today I ordered chicken breast fillet with vegetable rice for the first time, with a sauce on it. Plus a bowl of salad 🤤. I couldn't get enough of it. My order took a while, but it shows that the chef makes the effort to prepare the food carefully. I will come again.

Simply a place like Greece! You feel like a guest! Everyone is very friendly, customer oriented! The food is consistently, very good quality. We were there for dinner, the atmosphere was good! Unfortunately, that was also the most positive thing. The starter, shrimp in butter and garlic, was 3! Individual shrimps for €12.90 we found that to be cheeky. The oil for the fries later at the gyros needed to be changed urgently and tasted old, the portions were actually large as many people have described here, but you don't get any use out of it if it doesn't taste good. We were charged individually for each change in order, for example I didn't want Metaxa sauce, which cost an extra €2.5. Ketchup for the fries was also charged at €1. Absolutely petty.

We were there on Saturday. The food is super tasty and a good selection. Prices are also reasonable. The restaurant is always very busy, so booking in advance is recommended. The portions are, as is typical at Greek restaurants, quite generous, which is why I had my leftovers packed up this time. Unfortunately, I didn't look at what was packed on site because I was a bit "stinky" afterwards. I was “only” packed with my meat, even though I still had more than a good handful of fries on my plate. We even collected the fries from our three plates on my plate so that they could be packed too. A bit disappointing if you want all your leftovers packed up and taken with you. That's why I'm deducting a star.

A real Greek outside of Hellas. Super nice service, very appealing atmosphere. Excellent, super tasty dishes. Meses, great, the mashed potatoes with capers are world class. Full marks couldn't be better in D. A must visit on my next stay in Essen.

Let's talk about the very good first. Inconspicuous from the outside, but from the inside you feel like you're in a restaurant on the coast of Greece. The interior design is simple but with Greek elements. The service is appropriately dressed in white robes and is really very nice and accommodating. The food is good but not breathtaking, it's solid. A little expensive, but the portions are also very large. There is also a house menu with current dishes, but also a normal menu. At the end we were offered a free schnapps.
