Odessa - Restaurant Cafe Bar Bei Zwinger in Dresden

The place is empty but you can't eat without a reservation. I don't recommend!

One of my 4 favorite restaurants in the center of Dresden. Family-run Ukrainian restaurant with a small bar and a terrace in the leafy courtyard. All homemade, traditional dishes!!! Very nice service (perfect in German, Ukrainian & Russian) and mostly German, Ukrainian & Russian audience. Very professionally and deliciously prepared and served. Clear menu and sometimes there are also small parties and celebrations. Please keep it up!!

We had pelmeni with both garlic sauce and tomato sauce. Great. The cakes for dessert are also very good. The service is super friendly and attentive. Reservations are also advisable during the week.

HOSPITALITY IS WRITTEN HERE Today we had a small rear-end collision right in front of the restaurant and had to wait over an hour for the police. An employee - or was it the owner - noticed the situation and invited us to their restaurant to wait and warm up. We were also invited for a cappuccino and had a very pleasant conversation. Something like that is not a given. Thank you very much again! And by the way: The restaurant has a great interior and the menu promises the most delicious food. We will definitely come back :)

Good Ukrainian food. A clear menu showing what a given dish looks like.

Get a spot spontaneously. The starter: tomatoes with cheese garlic cream was very tasty, both main courses were rather average. The bliny were very dry. We ate Russian food three times in Dresden and we liked it the least here. Unfortunately, the atmosphere wasn't very appealing either. Hardly any authentic drinks that you can get anywhere. The service was good and quick. We won't go there a second time.

Whenever we're in Dresden, we come here to eat! Everything is always very filling and tasty! The staff speaks German and Russian, which is very convenient and pleasant when you are served in a foreign country in your native language!

The atmosphere is romantic. Came here for a second date, ate solyanka, and polished it with honey cake. The lady poured some borscht and sucked down two pies with compote. Rated 10/10. This treat reminded her of the home she doesn’t have. We'll come here for our anniversary. Thank you

This restaurant was sent to me by a foreigner who wanted to taste Ukrainian cuisine together. At first, the name alarmed. After reading the reviews about the Russian language and the staff who don't even understand Ukrainian, I had my doubts. And when I read the reviews of the person representing the institution, I was completely horrified. I will definitely not visit and will discourage all foreigners (and not only) from visiting. You spend so much effort to respond to unsatisfied reviews. They could at least remove the menu in Russian and make it Ukrainian. Because if I had heard "hello" from the doorway, I would have turned around and left.

We arrived as a family in Dresden and decided to visit a restaurant with our dishes and our service, because we thought it would be like home, everything was at the highest level. But when we entered the restaurant we were greeted aggressively, it felt as if we had gone to this man’s home. During food, our table was transferred to another waiter and the girl turned out to be just as “polite” as the previous waiter. For the first time in my life, I didn’t leave a tip at all. Respect to the kitchen chef, the food was excellent. But the owners of this establishment urgently need to reconsider the people who meet and they serve people. We definitely won’t come back here and won’t recommend this place to anyone.

We were here as students who went on a day trip to Dresden. We ate two soups here and were very impressed. Both soups tasted delicious and there was enough for everyone to last half a day. The dessert, in our case cake, was also very tasty. This restaurant made our entire visit to the city even more enjoyable.

Let me start with the fact that you are gorgeous. I love people who do everything with soul. I had dinner at your restaurant today and shared my impressions with everyone for an hour. I have been to many restaurants, but yours is 10 out of 10. I have never seen such delicious borscht and pies I ate, the herring under a fur coat is the freshest, tender, just amazing taste. Well, I thought Napoleon, how would it be store-bought, no, homemade, the cream was just a delight, but how it was soaked in. When they asked me if it was really tastier than yours, I said yes, I realized that I there is room for improvement. Oh, I forgot your iced compote, that’s a special thank you, even the mint tea was just like homemade, the way my grandmother made it in childhood. I recommend it to everyone, well done guys.

Average in everything except beer. C grade beer. It was not cold, and there was no gas. They told me that it is what it is, and it’s warm because they have the barrels in the basement, and here you understand how hot it is. But why was it without gas, as if it had run out of gas...

Приятное место, удачное расположение, отзывчивый персонал. Варенички просто таяли во рту, вкусная домашняя еда, шницель так же был хорош,повар делает работу с душой. Мы заказали с собой ещё борща, всё было аккуратно запакованно. Когда пришли домой ,увидели гостинчик-пирожки. Приятно удивились. Благодарим весь персонал за радушие и желание снова вернутся.

This is not a restaurant of Ukrainian cuisine! The waiter approached with a question: "In what language should I bring you the menu? In Russian, German or English?" We say: "In Ukrainian!" "There is no such thing," he replies and gives the menu in German. I tell him: "Yes, Odesa is Ukraine!" In response, I hear: "Bye!" We got up and left under the hostile eyes of the owners of this poor Russian "in wet dreams" restaurant!

There were seven people who wanted to eat here, the room was half empty, they asked the waiter if there was room for seven people, he said no.

I absolutely do not recommend this place. Disgusting, cheapest quality food, old oil smell everywhere. Wine from a carton, whether you order the most expensive or the cheapest, it's the same. Coca-Cola is poured into the back room from a 2l bottle. SERVICE at the lowest possible level. If you do NOT speak German and are not German you will be treated as a second class customer. We have never been so disgustingly DISCRIMINATED as at this place, and we expected a nice first encounter with Ukrainian cuisine. And when we asked where this approach came from, the waitress shrugged and burst out laughing. Dear friends, obviously this restaurant is not for tourists, it is better to avoid this place and go a little further to the great atmospheric restaurants, whose charm we later enjoyed. You are not only rude, but also arrogant, instead of apologizing for your bad behavior you want to tell me that someone will pay me to write negative opinions. I love the menu card with pictures of the food sich that you get a good understanding of what you can expect. Especially handy when you mastery of the German language is not perfect. Staf was friendly.

It was very tasty, here and a little something, which is certainly a personal taste. The liver was too cooked for me. But otherwise we left the restaurant feeling fat and plump. And had a great conversation with a Ukrainian city guide. The few words of Russian and hands and feet were enough for conversation. It was a great evening

It was probably little things that led to a deduction. Unfortunately, we knew a really great restaurant in Berlin, which is unfortunately closed in the meantime. But “Odessa” comes close. The "herring in a fur coat" was good; the Pelmeni and Wareneki too. Good place to get closer to or enjoy Eastern European cuisine. Уютный, красивый ресторан. Удачно расположен: удобно добираться. Приятные внимательные официанты. Свежие и вкусные блюда. Такого вкусного шашлыка мы не ели нигде в Германии. И хотя мы немного опоздали с предварительным заказом, повар все равно успел нам приготовить вкуснейший шашлык!!! Порции были большими. Торт Медовик - по домашнему рецепту- вне всяких похвал. Спасибо огромное за такой милый кусочек родины в Дрездене!!!! Очень всем рекомендую посетить это замечательное место!!!

Atmosphere and food brought back my nostalgia about my Ukranian hometown - Sevastopol. Cuisine was authentic and very tasty. Kvas was especially good.

Ukrainian-Russian restaurant "Odessa" was highly recommended by our local tour guide, Nicolo, and I was extremely pleased with the food, prices, service, and ambiance. Lunch ran about 20€ per person. The English menu was extensive and very well illustrated, so you know exactly what the dish will look like. See photo of my large mushrooms filled with minced meat on a bed of spinach with an unusually beautiful salad.

We came to Dresden for 3 days with our family and on the first day we accidentally found this restaurant. After that, all three days we visited only it in order to try new dishes :) The kitchen is just super! Felt like home) Highly recommend! Especially those who yearn for their homeland.

We were again in this traditional, Ukrainian, Russian restaurant in the heart of the city and opposite the Dresden Zwinger. Luckily we had pre-ordered shish kebab and were extremely impressed. The pork and chicken, including pickled onions, tasted excellent. The starters and especially the Baltika were also convincing. The waitresses, as usual, charming and attentive. We'd love to come back. You have to know!

Wir waren zum wiederholten mal in diesem traditionell, ukrainisch, russischem Restaurant im Herzen der Stadt und gegenüber des Dresdner Zwingers. Wir hatten glücklicherweise Schaschlik vorbestellt und waren enorm begeistert. Das Schwein und Hähnchen, samt eingelegten Zwiebeln war geschmacklich hervorragend. Die Vorspeisen und vor allem das Baltika, konnten ebenfalls überzeugen. Die Bedienungen, gewohnt Charmant und aufmerksam. Wir kommen gern wieder. Müsst Ihr wissen !

It was my first time trying Ukranian cuisine, so I cannot evaluate the authenticity. However the taste was good. It took some time to have the meals ready although it was low season.

If you miss Ukrainian food and want to come back to good memories about Odessa that is definitely the place to visit. When I open the menu I was positively shocked with so many options, and I literally wanted to taste everything)) The food was OK, but I still believe that in Ukraine it was better. That is might be because of the quality of vegetables in Germany, as they are different vs Ukrainian. Anyway, it was a good experience!

Food was okay, I expected more local food but the menu was limited. Service was very quick, polite and friendly. General rating is actually 3.5 stars. If the map is expanded a bit it will be even nicer. I think I'll go back to try something else on the menu at some point.

Wir waren zu einer Geburtstagsfeier eingeladen. Das Essen war ausgesprochen lecker und super angerichtet. Auch der Tisch war wundervoll dekoriert. Es war sehr ansprechend. Sonst ist das Restaurant eher sehr schlicht eingerichtet, was mir persönlich nicht ganz so gefällt. Aber wer die russische Küche mag ist hier gut aufgehoben.

We were so glad we decided to stop by Dresden for a day in our Eurotrip, so that we could discover this little heaven! We went there in May, 2023. I was born in Brazil but my grandfather was born in Odessa!! The traditional Ukrainian food and beverages served here are divine! Superb! How good is to find such a place! The Kvass, the Warenyki and Pelmeni were perfection! Everything was so good! Ah, I wish you open another restaurant in Rio de Janeiro! Is it too far away for you lovely people?! Super friendly staff and incredible Ukrainian food! Can't recommend enough!
