Authentic Indonesian food in the heart of Berlin! I absolutely love their Nasi Padang, especially with the cassava leaves and jackfruit as side dishes. The rendang is incredibly tender, full of rich flavor from the coconut milk and spices, and you can tell it’s been simmering for hours. They even wrap the dish just like they do in Indonesia, which adds a nice touch of authenticity. The only small thing is that the waiters could be a bit more welcoming, but overall, it’s a fantastic spot if you’re craving real Indonesian flavors. Definitely worth a visit!

This restaurant is UNBELIEVABLY amazing. First of all the food comes out so quickly, and it tastes INSANE! The beef and jackfruit curry in the banana leaf with rice is sooo flavorful and rich, and I love the vegetable, pressed rice, and tempeh salad with peanut sauce.

That was really tasty and we will definitely come again. It's not a particularly nice place to sit, but it's on the sunny side ;) The food tastes like it did on our trip to Asia. Visiting here is like a mini vacation. Service was nice, the food came quite quickly.

I have never tried Indonesian food before so can't comment on how authentic it was. But the dish I ordered was delicious and wholesome in size. I ordered Nasi Padeng which was a braised beef cooked and tenderized to perfection. It was served with rice and fried potatoes mixed with coconut milk. Spice level was good, not bland food like the rest of Berlin. They also adjusted the spice level according to your preferences so some of my friends ordered v spicy food and some v little which they took care of. The quantity was also wholesome and the staff was friendly and took care of your needs with a smile. Also had a really nice Lycheesaft which they made less cold as my throat was hurting (super sweet staff) . Loved it and would definitely visit again. Keep in mind to bring cash as they don't accept card!

I thought it was great that I was asked how it tasted and the young woman really listened and asked. She also apologized. Spring rolls are frozen, portions are rather small, dipping sauces are not homemade and are spent very sparingly. Service ok, but very inattentive.

The service was nice, the food was okay. The prices are good but the portions (of the dishes we had) are a bit small. I thought it was a shame that with the fried eggplant (€4.9) as a starter you only get three slices of eggplant in a batter with a little sweet and sour sauce. That's almost cheeky. The vegetarian plate with tempeh and tofu was delicious. However, there was only rice and a few slices of vegetables. The only sauce was a chilli sauce, but it was very spicy. The lamb kebabs are also tasty but not too much. You can do it, but you don't have to

Authentic food is served here! Unfortunately, the service for us could be improved a bit: there were three of us and each dish was brought 5 to 10 minutes apart, i.e. the first one was almost finished before the third one could even eat. We also completely forgot to bring a drink, so we canceled it when paying. Ambience also very authentic, audience with many supposedly Indonesian roots.

This was my first time trying Indonesian food so I cannot comment on whether it is authentic in taste or not. The food was good and sufficiently large in portion. Price-quality and price-quantity ratio both very well. The service personnel were friendly and nice. Interior needs some attention and investment. It looks slightly old inside and furniture could be improved.

We were on our tour to Berlin with 7 people on August 10th. at NUSANTARA Restaurant. Since there was no space left outside, we were led through the back into a room that was air-conditioned, but unfortunately also resembled a club room for sports clubs. There were 2 groups of younger people already there talking loudly; you could also think they were shouting at each other. It was impossible to have a conversation at our table, or we would have had to shout at each other. The group seemingly ignored that there were other guests in the room; The staff also didn't mind that the volume here was more suitable for a Bavarian beer tent at Oktoberfest. Our stay began like this. We were served by a young man who first brought us the drinks. He seemed to have forgotten that we also wanted to eat. Then a young lady came and took our order after a good half hour. The food took a good 45 minutes to arrive. Then we got our food piece by piece - spread over another hour. The last meal came about 30 minutes after the majority had already finished eating. To eat: Apparently the noodles fell into the sugar pot. Kwetiaw Goreng Sapi was extremely sweet and the beef was shredded into fibers. The food that arrived at the very end was also extremely sweet. The other people didn't speak well about the food either, although half of our group consisted of Indonesians who had never heard of such a preparation. The overall rating of the food can be assessed as very poor. A complaint was impossible because the operating staff only came to the club room sporadically; It was probably too loud for the staff who could have helped. A complaint would probably have taken over 1.5 hours again, which is why we decided to leave it that way. The question of whether it was tasty was not asked by the staff, although they could see that most of the food had not been touched. Cleanliness: The toilets, a calling card of the restaurant in some restaurants, were disgusting. You didn't even dare open the tap. In the restaurant itself there was a large trash can that was overflowing with leftover food. In our region, food inspection would temporarily close such a restaurant so that a thorough cleaning can be carried out. Conclusion: Anyone who talks about authentic cuisine here has apparently never been to Indonesia. The staff doesn't seem to have had any gastronomic training, which is why we unfortunately have to give a negative rating overall. We were looking forward to the afternoon at Nusantara; However, they were proven wrong.

If you’re looking for genuine Indonesian food, this place is a must-try. The menu is huge, so we spent a while just deciding what to order. We finally went with the Nasi Goreng Mawut and Bakmi Goreng Ayam, and both dishes were fantastic. The flavors were spot on, and you could tell the food was made with care. I’d definitely recommend this spot if you want some real Indonesian cuisine. We'll be back for sure!

Nice food but slightly small portions. The atmosphere is a bit dull but the service is nice and it's not expensive. One of the few Indonesian restaurants in Berlin.

It would be cheeky to only offer customers cash payments in 2024. In Indonesia you already have countless payment options, such as GoPay and the like, and in Germany you still have to get the coins out. Alternatively, you can pay with Paypal "Friends & Family" upon request so that the management does not have to pay a PayPal fee or tax. I'm curious what the tax office has to say about it :-)

The decor was very authentic and the menu was extensive. Unfortunately there was a cockroach in the dining room. After waiting over half an hour to place our order, we decided to change restaurants.

The Nasipadang isn't good now but I've had it before, the rice is persistent and there are a lot of empty menus, what's for sale... hmm, it's taking a long time to go to the Indo restaurant next door.

Saw this place on an instagram reel so was exited to visit especially as l love Indonesian food. Visited Indonesia a few times. Sadly l was very disappointed. Bland food. I ordered meat and chicken combination and received a veg option instead I gave up poor service from the waitress

the food and atmosphere are very good! However, during rush hour the service is very long (45 minutes of waiting for a neighbor) due to the very small kitchen. In addition, the prices are quite high given the quantity served, contrary to what Google indicates....

You don't necessarily have to stop there. The food was dry, the dips were terribly spicy and not very appetizing.

Delicious, authentic Indonesian cuisine! The two of us were there on a Tuesday evening and sat outside. We ordered Indonesian iced tea, Ketoprak and Terong Goreng Asam Manis as starters, plus all three types of sambal. Both Ketoprak and the eggplant were simply delicious. The peanut sauce of Ketoprak was the best we've ever tasted outside of Indonesia - very aromatic, nutty. The eggplant was nice and crispy, buttery soft and creamy on the inside. Each of the sambals was a flavor explosion - all spicy, but each incredibly good and intense in their own right. For the main course we ate Nasi Lengko and Urap. The seasoned coconut flakes and tempeh as components of the Urap were an absolute highlight! It was all made with a lot of love and you could simply taste it. The service was very friendly and put a smile or two on our faces. The kitchen team, who briefly joined us at the next table: simply friendly. We felt like we were on a short vacation. Terma kasih! Going all the way to Berlin just to eat Indonesian food, it turned out to be very disappointing. My husband ordered chicken noodle and fried mix, it still tasted pretty good but I ordered nasi Padang wrap, it tasted like stale food. After eating, my stomach felt nauseous.

I go here fairly regularly and it is one of those hidden gems in Berlin that really encapsulates Berlin for me. The food is amazing, full of flavor and warms the soul. Seeing as everytime I am here it is frequented by Indonesian locals, I'd say that speaks for itself.

A perfect Indonesian resraurant in Berlin. Amazing taste, very Indonesia and even as Indonesian I can say that the taste is perfect. Nasi goreng kambing, tempe mendoan, oxtail soup, (sweet ice tea), feels like in Indonesia. The service ia also excellent. Waitress are polite and fast service, the cooking and prepation time is also very fast.

Highly recommended for those in Berlin

Was here for the first time. The restaurant was often recommended by friends, so as an Indonesian I had pretty high expectations when it came to the taste. The food was actually quite okay, but not that special. Had already eaten a better nasi goreng kambing in another Indonesian restaurant in Germany.

That place got our order totally wrong, serve all our dishes to the table beside us without any excuse.

Amazing food and friendly stuff

Went here the other day for dinner; their nasi goreng was OK, nothing special. Went back today for lunch to try another dish; it took about 5 minutes to get seated and get a menu, and then I waited (and waited) for someone to take my order. At one point another customer walked in and asked to look at my menu because "they were slow last time too". After 25 minutes, I gave up and walked out. Not sure what the delay was; the outside tables were busy, but the inside was basically empty. Went to the Nepali restaurant next door and got served right away.

Service seems good at first impression, but I have the feeling that they only care about your money. Which is normal in itself. But recently the table I sat at was dirty. I felt really uncomfortable but had to point it out. When I kindly asked to clean the table, they were very rude and even seemed angry…

After our trip to Indonesia we were looking for an Indo restaurant in Berlin. Unfortunately, the food was neither authentic nor particularly tasty. We had Sate Ayam and Nasi Goreng (which are pretty much the standard classics) and another drink. Apart from the drink, nothing represented real Indonesian cuisine. Neither the rice nor the classic satay skewers (which are actually grilled on lemongrass) were made with the right ingredients, for example there were also fried onions on top, as you would find on a hot dog. Unfortunately, not only was it not authentic, but it wasn't particularly tasty either (if you take the authenticity factor out). We actually wanted to come back and try a lot more next time, but then we'd rather try other restaurants. Price performance was ok. The restaurant isn't particularly fancy either, but not bad. The service wasn't particularly friendly, but OK. After a long wait, you also had to point out that you would like the card.

It was quite good, unfortunately the Mie Ayam Bakso was a bit boring, very simple, not much seasoned, not even a bit spicy, just a shame. I know something different from Indonesia. Portions also rather small. Beef balls in soup were very tasty and the iced tea was also very good.

Honestly! They made our Berlin trip! Me and my wife used to live in Malaysia. So we were craving for some authentic Nasi Ayam Penyet and Nasi Goreng like old times. And it exceeded our expectations. The staffs were super nice as well. Would definitely come back here again! They are the best!

I can only recommend sitting outside and eating in the evening! Portions are a bit tight in my opinion, but tasty.

I came to this place with high expectations (reading all the reviews) but leaving quite disappointed - the beef rendang I was served was below par, dry, burnt/charred and not tender the way you'd expect it - I've eaten this dish during my time in south east Asia several times and I know this doesn't even come close. Maybe I should have ordered their ayam penyet - perhaps for the next time, if I give them another chance.

I ordered via uber and didnt get my order after 3 hour because the resto gave 2x wrong order from another customers to the driver. It looks like chaos for everything 😐😐

Their food is worth going back for, I can't wait for our next visit.

Update 02.28.24 After some renovations, atmosphere got better. Service got better. They listened special requests and try to manage it. Price got pricier like other restaurants but not crazy. Still worth to try if you are near by. Old 10.23 I went there like 6-7 times. There are always something make me dis-satisfied. But it was acceptable(like table is dirty, slow service). but today was too much. Soup was cold and tasteless teh tarik. The Worst teh tarik in my life. Cold lamb soup was very sad, impossible enjoy it. I shared the feedback to waitress, she saids “thank you, i will tell the kitchen.” That’s it. Disappointing. Why can’t you keep the quality? It was good but somehow, today i felt they lost their motivation.
