New Mintons in Trier

Unfortunately, a very disappointing experience. The waiter mixed up the drinks with every single order, making the whole visit quite chaotic. Furthermore, they don't accept card payments, which is really inconvenient these days. I won't be going there again.

We were yelled at and ignored – the service was completely disrespectful! A disgrace to any bar. Never again will I spend a cent there!

Great for sitting outside and drinking cocktails or cider in the summer. Service can be a bit slow at times. Cash only. The food is inexpensive, and you can't go wrong with it. The goulash, however, is outstanding; highly recommended!

We ordered a 0.3 liter beer and got a 0.4 liter, and were told to pay for the 0.4 liter at the end, arguing that we had finished it. Our mistake. Next time, we'll recycle the 0.1 liter of beer. Not worth returning.

This is my second time in Trier and my sixth (!) visit to New Mintons. The food is excellent and fairly priced. Occasionally, you can expect longer wait times, but I was always informed of this before placing my order.

Friendly and reliable service. Delicious and plentiful food. Plenty of seating inside, large beer garden outside, at the beginning of the pedestrian zone.

We were looking forward to a delicious, handmade pizza. The dough was abysmally bad, there weren't many toppings, and there was far too much cheese. Unfortunately, I have to say I haven't eaten such a bad pizza in a long time. On top of that, the restrooms were in a very poor, dirty state. I wouldn't have expected that in the middle of Trier, in such a place.

Nice place for a drink or a meal, with various themed evenings, such as schnitzel or burger nights. Friendly and welcoming staff.

The waitress was very friendly, but the guys working there were just chilling. Accordingly, we waited 65 minutes for the food. The price of the schnitzel was reasonable.

The food was delicious, reasonable for the price, and we had a lovely outdoor seating area. Unfortunately, the service was completely overwhelmed and abysmal at times.

I've been a customer for years, but today I had a terrible experience. We ordered two identical cocktails, but they arrived different. When I asked for a fix, I was treated terribly by the waitress and bartender. The waitress used her hands to place the lemon and ice in the drink, and after I asked for a new cocktail, they threw me out, yelling at me and threatening to call the police. They've lost a great customer.

We've eaten here many times, and we've always enjoyed it. But this time it was simply inedible. The fries were cold, the sauce was thin and overcooked, tasteless, and there were five slices of mushrooms on the schnitzel. The schnitzel was frozen and inedible. The salad was invisible under the sauce. To make matters worse, you can't pay by card (tax evasion??). Absolutely not recommended.

I just wanted to drink something but the arrogance and disrespect of the waiters prevented me from doing so. They asked for a slice of lemon in my drink, adding it with their hands without adequate hygiene equipment, asking for a new drink and I was not treated like a customer.

Spectacular service, incredibly friendly. The food was well-priced and plentiful, definitely a great choice. One drawback: you can't pay by card. Thank you so much for everything.

The food is of rather average quality. However, it's extremely affordable if you take advantage of the daily specials, for example, on Tuesdays, any schnitzel with fries costs €8.50. Due to the high demand, the wait times are extreme: 45 minutes for a schnitzel. The waiters try their best, but there are too few of them. Payment is cash only.

The schnitzel is surprisingly delicious, and the prices are very good. On the downside, we had to wait at least an hour for our food, and you can only pay with cash…😅

A very pleasant square to sit in, somewhat tucked away from the hustle and bustle. The service is excellent, and the food is affordable and delicious. We came on cocktail night and had cocktails for €5.90 each.

Very mid This restaurant is the definition of average, Alright. Im gonna be as fair as I can. Want a quick drink? Perfect place. The drinks came within 15 minutes of ordering, the food took about 45 minutes. (5pm on a thursday, so understandable) portions are tiny (a pizza is about the size of a dinner plate) also, they do not take cards. So keep that in mind. The pizza itself was bland, despite me ordering one with many seasonings and peppers, it's also paper thin and not cut, nor will they provide you a pizza cutter or something similar. Most of the staff do speak good english though, and the prices are reasonable for what you're getting, try at your own risk I suppose.

2 waitresses who are struggling for 100 people. Avoid the escalope menu!!!!! It's not even a children's menu and there's a 1-hour wait on a Tuesday evening. It's good for a drink, but avoid it for eating. Too bad because it's a beautiful place.

I was thirsty, it was my fault! Please don't go to this restaurant when you're thirsty. Yes, the curly-haired lady got cheeky and, despite two attempts, didn't bring anything. Her colleague took over. One visit and never again. There are so many other great options in Trier. Don't put up with the staff and the wait.

Pleasant terrace, we didn't need a reservation during the week. In fact, there weren't many people there. Very basic service: no salt or pepper shakers. The server doesn't know the dishes on the "daily menu." Schnizel and fries, no salad for the daily menu... no desserts on the menu. And finally, payment only in cash, no advance notice... no receipt offered.

The staff are mostly lackluster and very fussy when it comes to service. So I've moved to another pub. It's a shame, really. This isn't just my impression; I've heard it from friends as well. Perhaps the boss should keep an eye on the place more often, but with so many workshops, it's easy to lose track.

I've been a waiter for many years, but I've never experienced such unprofessional service. The most unfriendly service ever. The waiters are rude and disgusting. I can't recommend this place to anyone. The staff is absolutely unacceptable. When I wanted to pay, they even yelled at me for wanting to pay at the bar because I was in a hurry to get to work. Absolutely terrible...

I often go to New Mintons, but today, June 19, 2025, I can only give it one star. The Hot Pepper pizza came without pepperoni salami and chilies! The waitress couldn't care less. Also, the cider wasn't served in a Portz, but in a Kölsch glass, which is completely unacceptable! Get more Portz.

The Greek salad served here would make Zeus turn in his grave! The lettuce leaves were wilted, yogurt sauce doesn't belong in a Greek salad, and the side dish was a dry piece of brown bread. Dear chef, surely we can do a little better next time...?

Good restaurant in the city centre. Waitresses spoke ok English and were nice. A currywurst costs 8.80, not a bad price. And drinks are 3.40 for 300ml. The quality wasn't world class or anything but just fine, we had a nice meal there. The restaurant has room outside and inside and is situated on a nice square with sun and shade. Paying was upfront. We tried to have a drink on the terrace, but after repeatedly being told that he was coming, we left for another 30 minutes. The two male staff thought it was more important to clear dishes or clean tables. After they were promised to come, he went back to doing other things and completely ignored us. The other man on staff ignored us anyway and hasn't said a word even though he was busy straightening chairs next to our table. There were only three tables with people so it wasn't the crowd. Very rude. When we got up and left they looked at us strangely, as if you stay seated if you are not helped. Plenty of other terraces where you will be helped.

If you like waiting, the restaurant is perfect. Waiting time of about 1 1/2 hours is really cool.

We have been advised to go to this restaurant as a cheap and good one, what a bad surprise ! The service needs to be faster 40 minutes for this food quality is too much, the waiters are kind and smiley but the kitchen is too late for the quality they produce . The food was something else, I ordered a currywurst and the meat inside was processed and tasteless, very disappointed. If I could go back in time, I would have paid less for a kebab with fries and be satisfied !

Beautiful outdoor spaces on the Stockplatz at the beginning of the pedestrian zone near the parking garage at the main market. Daily meals also on weekends from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Daily changing specials from 5 p.m. Super friendly and humorous staff.

Nice lunch. Salad, burger and frikadelle. Baguettes were no longer in stock, so we ordered a burger bun with mozzarella. Nice spacious facility with plenty of tables, very spacious terrace. As a result, you have to wait a little longer for service, but with good table company that is not a problem.

We tourists (from SB) like to eat there. But the workload of the waitresses is inhumane. The food was quite good and varied with fair prices. The ambience is cool, bare and dirty. There was no welcome. The order took forever, we waited over 50 minutes and were just about to get up when the salad finally came. The staff was completely overwhelmed. The employee behind the counter constantly had something to complain about to her colleague: "do this, do that"....and at a volume that was impossible in front of the guests! The neighboring table also said goodbye because the wait was too long. Card payment is also not possible here.

OMG never experienced such rude service. Pushing my sister away while she's still eating, taking away plates, yelling and really, we're not lying. Very unfortunate.

Whenever I'm in Trier, I like to go to Mintons. I think the restaurant has a very nice atmosphere and in spring and summer you can sit outside very nicely. Especially outside it sometimes takes a little longer to be served, but that is also because the waitresses have to travel long distances. Therefore it is really negligible. The food has always been great, no matter what we ate and you can't complain about the prices either. You pay a lot more in other cities. So I can only recommend the restaurant.

Gastronomy is always a question of feeling and a collaboration between guest and business. I don't want to lean too far out of the window, BUT: For me, New Mintons is something of an institution. Of course, one or two grumpy guests experience a longer wait or receive a plate that they don't like. It's sometimes funny to watch - the person is grumbling about nothing from the start and you're wondering what negative words they'll probably choose for a review :) BUT: All year round, all sensitivities are catered for almost lovingly and you experience confident and motivated service. And that with the (sometimes) large number of guests. It's always a question of how you treat each other. You (yourself) are no better than the person next to you. Back to the “institution” of New Minton: Whether you're sipping a cappuccino as a couple in the bitterly cold winter, whether you're having a sensible end to the day with the whole family with food and drink or just drinking, whether you want to quickly grab a schnitzel - or whether you're just enjoying the sunshine with everyone want to see it rise - all of this is easily possible. Like a second living room with people watching, you know :) Gastronomy is always about feeling.
