Mr. Lian in Kaiserslautern

Had a great meal here. We had summer rolls with chicken to start. I had a beef pho and my wife had a chicken pho. The bowls are very big, and plenty of meat. The broth was great. Service was friendly, and the restaurant looked great and very clean. Nothing bad to say, this place was great. Thanks you I loves you.

We’ve been coming here for almost 3 years. I’ve been getting the same item as it’s one of my favorites….they changed the chicken from non breaded to breaded chicken however the menu did not report that change. When I received the breaded chicken, I asked the server if he could send it back for the non breaded chicken. He stated “this is the chicken we have had forever” multiple times, fighting us on the fact that it had not been breaded prior to this time. Prices also have gone up. Sad.

The food is okay, nothing special. The waiters were very nice.

Very friendly service, a menu that leaves nothing to be desired, and the food (starter, main course, and dessert) was delicious. Excellent value for money. I'd be happy to come back. Lunch is also available.

I haven’t been here in 6 years, The only good thing I had here was the Coco Love soup which is coconut soup and I had it with chicken. We got a sushi platter, Udon with Duck, and a couple of drinks like the Thai Basil. Like I said the only good thing was the soup, and i normally don’t care about price point but what the prices were compared to the quality, was terrible. I forgot to take pictures of the udon duck because it was so bad.

100% recommendation, everything is super fresh, it's really hard to choose, first-class service. We'll definitely be back, top notch!

Restaurant Review: A Disturbing Experience at Mr. Lian Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ I recently dined at Mr. Lian and unfortunately had an experience that was far from satisfactory, leaving me quite unsettled. Upon our arrival, my party and I stood at the entrance for about ten minutes, waiting to be seated. Despite there being no other customers waiting, it took an inordinate amount of time for anyone to acknowledge us. Eventually, a staff member came to assist us, while several others simply stood idly by, providing no help. Once we were finally seated, I noticed a significant delay in service. It took another 10 to 15 minutes for anyone to come back and take our drink orders. When I attempted to inquire about the menu, I was again left waiting, feeling invisible amidst the staff. After placing our order, which included fried dumplings, we experienced further delays. The food took an additional 15 minutes to arrive, and when it finally did, the fried dumplings were not only late but also utterly unacceptable. I was horrified to find a cockroach crawling out of one of the dumplings. I called over the server, who merely shrugged it off, offering to remove the dumpling from the bill without any further apology or concern for the situation. Moreover, during our visit, I couldn’t help but notice the lack of hygiene practices among the staff. I observed one employee returning from a break without properly washing his hands before handling food. This is alarming and poses serious health concerns. In conclusion, my experience at Mr. Lian was disappointing on multiple levels, from poor service to alarming food hygiene practices. I encourage potential diners to be cautious and attentive to their surroundings before choosing to eat here. This restaurant has serious issues that need immediate attention to ensure the safety and satisfaction of its customers. I hope my experience serves as a warning for others. Until significant improvements are made in service quality and food safety, I cannot recommend this establishment.

Good sushi. Friendly service. Prices were rather high. The restaurant was very dark. During our visit, a strong toilet cleaner smell was noticeable upon entering the restaurant.

If you like sushi, this is the place for you. The dishes are fantastic and beautifully presented. We also really enjoyed the lovely ambiance.

During a business trip 2023 our team had lunch here! The lunch was phenomenal. The hot tea was perfect, the appetizer and main course put me in a fantastic food coma 😅I had no room for dessert. This is a 20/10 must if you’re in K Town.

Very good food and friendly staff. The food always comes out extremely quickly; you never have to wait long. The ambiance is also very nice, but it's very loud.

It used to be delicious. Apparently, the owner changed hands. After complaining about the food, the service suddenly stopped. I had to pay at the cash register. Probably to the manager himself. I also complained to him. No matter! I still had to pay for the sushi I didn't eat. Unfortunately, I can't recommend it anymore. A shame!

Mr. Lian's is a great place to eat. We had the spring rolls, Pho Tran, Chicken Udon, lemon grass tea, and lava cake. The dishes were full of flavor and excellently prepared. The lava cake is amazing! Staff is friendly and helpful. Go. You'll go back!

I love this place. I’ve been here about 8 times so far. I always get the Pho Ga & Tiger sushi. But tonight was the first time I had a concern about the cleanliness. I ordered my food to-go online. As I approached the restaurant, I noticed a worker taking a smoke break on the patio. When I passed him, he was finishing up his cigarette and entered right behind me. I got in line to wait on my turn and he walked past me straight to the bar. He immediately started preparing customers’ drinks. He did not wash his hands or at least put on gloves. I watched him touch straws with his unclean bare hands. He picked up some mint leaves and pushed it into the drink glasses. I was disgusted with what I saw and it makes me concerned about the cleanliness of the staff that’s preparing our food/beverages.

Great service and delicious food in reasonable portions. But as a non-US citizen, I find the noise level much too high. It's club-like.

A gourmet experience 100% recommendation

Mr. LIAN? More like Mr. FANTASTIC! this place is the Mercedes of sushi places. The price is a little high, but so is the flavor! You get a lot of bang for your buck.

The food and service were excellent. Everything looks great, but the day the three of us ate, it was very busy and therefore very loud. It was difficult to have a conversation.

Food is usually good. Had the opportunity to wait to order for 20 mins while the staff packaged to go food and cleaned tables. When they came to take orders they decided to take the bigger table next to us who were only there for 5 minutes.

New to Germany so tried Mr. Lian for lunch. The atmosphere was relaxing and the food was delish.

This restaurant is all hype and no substance. Particularly disappointing because we were celebrating a special event. Every time I look at the photos, I can taste the food and the bad memories come rushing back. The servers cannot answer simple questions about the food or the beverages. The menu is your only source of information. Good luck ! The food is mediocre at best. The prices are waaaayyyyy too high for small portions of poorly seasoned, nicely presented food. The cocktails were mostly ice and very little actual alcohol. Do not recommend!

Super delicious food, whether it's a main course or sushi

Usually my favorite place to eat, but today it was horrible. I guess a new waiter which is fine .. we all need to learn. I ordered summer rolls and received spring rolls, did let it go and ordered summer rolls to go. My pho soup had some type of lid in it and my husbands food #21 the vegetables were not fresh. So looking at my summer rolls at home and was so disappointed.. salad was old and brown shrimps were fried with tale. Yikes … not a happy customer at all paying €60

This is thy ORIGINAL Mr.Lian. Out of all the restaurants that serve sushi, this is the best place. The fish tastes fresh and doesn’t have a fishy after taste. The atmosphere is beautiful, relaxing and big. I recommend this place to anyone who wants good sushi. The owner cares and is passionate about his restaurant and food.

I've been there several times. And it's always been absolutely delicious! Whether it's lunch, an afternoon snack, or an evening with a group, the food and drinks are absolutely fantastic. My favorites are summer rolls with scampi, soups (I've tried them all), and I've always been very satisfied with the sushi (I've tried many and it's always been great!). The homemade teas are also fantastic. The atmosphere is fantastic; in the summer, you can also sit on the terrace. It's open all day, and the staff are always very friendly and attentive, except for one occasion. My favorite sushi place far and wide!

I received a €20 voucher for my birthday that expired a month ago. They didn't accept it when paying. I think it's almost criminal, because he was paid and the people have already taken the money. Customer service is something different and we weren't treated friendly either. Too bad.

I appreciate the German / English language menu. The selection of food is great because they have something for everybody. It's a great spot for groups, a date, or to go by yourself. They have their own large parking lot as well. Also, a delicious selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

This place wowed me. I've lived in the area for almost 3 years, and this was my first visit. I only ordered a takeaway, but while waiting for my food, I was watching the food being delivered to the tables. I couldn't say how long people had to wait. My food took around 20 minutes, but the food being delivered looked totally amazing. The presentation was spectacular, with the attention to detail being made for every dish going out. I told my husband that we really have to come here for dinner, soon!

Sushi and Phobo the food is super in this restaurant

The food is really delicious! No matter whether noodles, sushi or soups, simply good! However, there were problems paying with the vouchers that we were given as a gift (we mentioned this right when we ordered!) First it didn't "work", then only one would work... We really didn't think that was OK! After a lot of back and forth and several complaints, another employee came and then everything went smoothly. Therefore 2 stars deducted for the service.

This was my first time visiting Mr. Lian's and it was very nice. I stopped for a late lunch on a Monday, and the restaurant was not very busy. The wait staff was very helpful and the food was very good. I tried one of their drinks, the Ginger Lemonade, which was marvelous.

We had a lovely evening and the food was really, really tasty. The service was always attentive and helpful 😀

We live in Belgium but if we pass by Kaiserslautern, Mr. Lian is a mandatory stop. We haven’t found a place with good sushi like this one (except a food truck in Kauai island very far from Europe).

Situé dans un endroit reculé et improbable, le restaurant vaut néanmoins le détour. Un joli cadre, un service efficace, mais surtout, une excellente cuisine asiatique. Des plats vraiment bons, préparés avec de bons produits... les fritures sont légères, peu grasses... ils proposent de magnifiques plats de sushi (non testés, mais à la présentation impressionnante).

Looks nice on the inside, and the waiters were professional. Unfortunately, I will never eat here again. The menu is not impressive and a bit on the pricey side, (I'm assuming the prices reflect wages for their staff and not for quality of their food.) They had a mix of Vietnamese and Japanese food, (mainly sushi.) I tried both. Their Vietnamese spring/summer roll appetizers were really small for the price, and the sauce made up for the lack of seasoning. Their sushi roll was wrapped in a Vietnamese rice wrap! Bad idea since the wraps stuck together, and the sushi rice was plain. The quality of their sushi is the very same quality I get at the grocery stores! People need to stop over rating these Vietnamese-Japanese fusion restaurants!

Please don’t go here for dinner. Two times now. Never again. Hands down the worst service ever. Incompetence supreme. No management on site.Our meals literally went to another table-who took them and they had no clue. 90 minutes later they asked us to pay - for what - the meals we never received? Are you kidding me? I hate Mr. Liam. Even with the in person complaint- nothing but a giggle and fake “sorry”. Ewww.

The atmosphere was amazing and so was the food so good! We had the sushi platter for two called the Kamasutra and it was delicious!

I had the grilled duck, and overall, the dish was good. The only minor downside was that the duck was a little gamey, but the dish as a whole was enjoyable. The service was great, and the staff we interacted with were friendly.

Wow, that was delicious! Chicken curry and the Double Crunch roll. Curry was mild l, chicken was tender and tasty! Spring rolls were fried and really good.

The service and everything here is very good, the food is also very tasty, I will come again.

We had a table reservation with “Mr. Lian” in KL-Einsiedlerhof for 6:30 p.m., and fortunately it was prepared for us in time. The restaurant “Mr. Lian” also offers an attractive outdoor terrace at this location. Our table was in the interior, which initially seemed a bit dark when we arrived. On our next visit we will reserve a table on the outside terrace - which is very spacious - as I personally find this more pleasant. Shortly after we sat down, the service appeared and digitally took the drink order, which was served within two minutes. We then placed our food order, which was also recorded digitally by an employee on a small phablet. Since this is my first - but I may say not my last - visit to “Mr. Lian”, the selection of dishes took a little more time due to the wide range of options than one is used to in classic German restaurants with the usual and very well-known dishes. Everything is extremely tasty, and it is very, very difficult to choose, especially on the first visit! Conclusion: Absolute top quality, extremely fresh and excellent in taste! With pleasure, no, very much with pleasure, I will definitely come back! I'm - still - thrilled! That's why I'm happy to give it the full score of 5 stars. I'm already looking forward to my next visit! PS: For those familiar with the area: Directly near the “Hacienda”.

Awesome place for a date night. The restraunt is beautiful inside and romantic. The service is outstanding and extremely professional. The staff there had to be some of the most professional staff I have ever had service from. The food by far is beautiful looking and very tasty. We ordered the mint lemonade and berry alcohol drink, can't remember the name. We got spring rolls, crunchy tiger roll, and the Kamo temptation, which is duck. The food had to be one of the cleanest tasting food I have had for asian food. The dipping sauce for the spring rolls is their own made sauce. You know how most Asian food has a oil or grease feeling when you eat, well this place has zero oil taste with the food. I would recommend this place. The food presentation is one of the most beautiful I have seen. They are fast and amazing.

The staff was very attentive, the menu offered a huge selection of sushi, and it shows they take pride in their restaurant. The only thing I did not like was there was no background music. It was awkwardly quiet inside the restaurant.
