Monte Christo in Baden-Baden

A very nice, quaint little place. I was greeted warmly and shown to my table. I was served immediately and offered a small welcome snack. My order was taken quickly, and my questions were answered helpfully. The food arrived promptly, and everything was delicious and piping hot. The price was reasonable. Reservations are highly recommended. I'd gladly come back.

The food was good, and the service staff was lovely – really friendly and welcoming. However, the owner was quite condescending when I asked about soft drinks or juice spritzers. The menu only listed alcoholic beverages and water. I even added that I was asking because I don't drink alcohol – which should have been enough information to elicit understanding. Instead, the response was an annoyed, "That's not our specialty." Many other restaurants manage to offer good non-alcoholic drinks these days, for which I'm happy to pay a bit more. If someone doesn't want to offer them: that's perfectly fine, I'll drink tap water if necessary. It would be nice, though, if they communicated this to the customer in a slightly more polite and respectful way (even if they were clearly frustrated that I don't drink expensive wine).

We wanted to visit the wine bar today. Without even saying a word, we were greeted with the words "no, get out." Thanks a lot.

Very tasty tapas, attentive service, we love coming here

A typically Spanish atmosphere, very authentic. The service is more cordial in the wine bar, but no matter where you eat, the food is absolutely fantastic, and I'd happily go there again. Anyone who likes Spanish food should try it!

From the moment you enter, you feel you’re “in the right place” for a perfect service, delicious food, great atmosphere. We followed the staff advice to take red wine risotto and tempura veggies. You have to take these mandatory two. We also had codfish- very smelly, but delicious, plate of hams- felt very authentic, as well as grilled goat cheese with honey- all delicious. Both the red and the white riojas are typical “crowd pleasers”, and they did not disappoint either. We will definitely come back here if in this area again.

We didn't have a reservation. When we entered, it was quite busy, and we were only offered two seats at the bar – which we accepted. Shortly afterward, a table inside became available. I politely asked if there was any space available. The bartender (an older man with glasses and gray hair) replied curtly, "No." When I subsequently asked for the menu, he reacted extremely rudely: "You've already asked for a table three times. It's very busy, you might as well go home." That's absolutely not true – I certainly didn't ask for a table multiple times. The mere fact that I asked for the menu shows that I wanted to order something. Such rudeness is completely inappropriate.

We visited Monte Christo again yesterday with friends and received a warm welcome. The staff was friendly and the service attentive. To pass the time for our food, we offered warm bread, olives, and aioli. The tapas selection of meat, fish, and vegetables is extensive, and we think there's something for every taste. The atmosphere and ambiance invite you to enjoy the evening with good food and a good glass of wine. The team always has the right recommendation, allowing you to discover different Spanish wines. For us, Monte Christo is like a piece of Spain in Baden-Baden and highly recommended!

We spontaneously got a table on a Friday evening and received a very friendly welcome. We started with delicious olives with crusty bread and alioli. We ordered everything from the menu, and without exception, everything was delicious, freshly made, and well-seasoned. My little highlights were the porcini mushroom croquette and the crema Catalana. The wine selection was also very good, and the Cava is highly recommended.

We stumbled upon Monte Cristo by chance. It's a bit hidden, and from the outside, we weren't sure where to go. Once we walked in, we immediately realized we'd made a good choice. We were helped right away by a friendly staff member. We hadn't made a reservation, but luckily there was a table available. It was quite full inside, but that created a cozy atmosphere. They have an extensive tapas menu. We shared a few dishes. Everything was delicious, and the service was friendly. They also have good wines. We definitely recommend Monte Cristo in Baden-Baden!

A very nice restaurant that we always enjoyed (several times a year). Unfortunately, in our opinion, the quality of the food has declined dramatically; some of it was cold and the taste was no longer comparable. The staff was friendly and attentive as always, so we hope things will improve and will give it another chance.

From cordial to condescending – unfortunately, a service crash We received a friendly welcome and were looking forward to a relaxing evening. Initially, there was only water to drink – perhaps that was our first mistake – but wine would have followed soon. It took a long time for someone to come and order, and then we were greeted with the words: "Shall we order now, or do you want to sleep?!" We first ordered one round – our second mistake?! – and would have gladly ordered more if the service and atmosphere had been right. But instead of a pleasant experience, we waited an hour for our food, while all the other guests who had ordered at the same time or shortly before us had long since finished. When we politely asked, we were snapped at. "You ordered last, so you have to wait too!" When we paid at the bar, we were met with the comment: "Ah, look who's coming!" – and no eye contact or even a "Bye." It's a shame, the evening had started so well.

Based on the exterior alone, we probably would have passed by during the Easter holidays without a recommendation. However, the interior is charming, with superbly friendly service and extremely delicious and plentiful food. The numerous tapas are characterized by wonderful taste experiences and high-quality cuisine. A wonderful evening that we would gladly repeat.

We spontaneously stopped by for dinner today as a family. It's almost impossible to notice from the outside, but inside it's a true gem! We were greeted very warmly and were lucky to snag a table. The ambiance is also wonderful. Outside, you're surrounded by plants, while inside, every table and chair is practically unique. The service staff are all very friendly and accommodating, and the food is truly excellent. I definitely recommend it!

He was always concerned about my pregnant wife, making sure the food was cooked properly, which cheeses she could and couldn't eat, and recommending the best options for her and everyone else. Very cozy, very forthcoming staff (also with children), and very good food: The best thing to me was the high variety in flavors. I had different experiences with variety before, especially regarding vegetarian options, so this stood out to me. The Aubergines where my favorite. Regarding drinks, I have not had many experiences with Tinto de Verano, but I thought the wine could be a little more present. Might be the type (I liked it with Tempranillo-Syrah) or the amount - but what do I know. The Rosé Schorle was very good and an interesting variety to the regular south german Weinschorle.

We came to your establishment this weekend. Everything was very good. The patio is very pleasant. Slight hiccup with the prices. There were four of us. We asked for a bottle of sparkling water. The waitress put two on the table. Since it's homemade water, we didn't react. However, €5 per bottle, I call that theft! We ordered a bottle of white wine. Supposedly €22, we were billed at €29. What's more, we were charged €3 per person for the cover charge. This is unheard of! Since I was the one hosting the meal, I didn't itemize the bill in front of my guests. Nastily surprised the next day! It's a shame, but we won't be back because I really felt like I was being robbed from start to finish.

I visited with my boyfriend for our anniversary, they fit us in straight away even though we booked late. The ladies serving had amazing personalities and were very helpful. THE FOOD! Was incredible, i highly recommend attending this establishment. If we were to revisit Baden-Baden this would be the first place we visit. Get the honey & goats cheese!

A few days ago, a friend invited me to dinner at this restaurant. Even though we didn't have a reservation, the owner kindly assigned us a table. So far, so good. But then things got really bad: The woman who took our order was quite brusque. Despite the fact that the restaurant wasn't full, she acted hastily and unsympathetically. Even our table neighbors noticed. The food was very good. When we asked for the bill, my friend noticed that there was an additional item called "cubierto." When paying, my friend asked the owner, who was standing near the cash register, why people in Germany now had to pay for cutlery, as she had only seen this practice in Italy. The owner responded in a passive-aggressive manner that the restaurant industry in Germany needed to adapt to the changes. It was a rather unpleasant experience, and one that will keep us from going there again.

A first-class Spanish restaurant with heart. The tapas are so delicious that it's hard to choose. A definite reason to come back often. The interior is very cozy, and for a moment, you'll think you've actually gone to a tapas bar in Spain and are on vacation☀️. The service is incredibly great. Aside from the food and drinks, they make the visit a real experience 🫶. Thank you for a thoroughly enjoyable evening. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

Food was great. The recommendation that men should order 3 tapas and women 2 tapas was completely successful. Small note: The starter that comes to the table without ordering is not a greeting from the kitchen and costs €3 per person. This is also what is written on the place card.

This was our second time here and we enjoyed the delicious and authentic Spanish cuisine and the great service. All tapas and the wine recommendation were perfect. The Crema Catalana and a brandy rounded off the meal. We will definitely try to go to Monte Cristo again when we are back in Baden-Baden.

This tapas bar is a place to avoid. Shameless staff, rude behavior, never customer-oriented, rude tone. We didn't get to eat for the second time because we quickly left the restaurant after these experiences. In the “Belmonte” restaurant we found the best food, nice service and a great atmosphere.

I lived in Spain for a while and have rarely eaten as well there as I do here. Of all the tapas bars around, this is the best choice in every way. The variety and quality of the tapas, the friendliness of the service (despite the restaurant being always full) and the cozy, typically Spanish atmosphere... We have been coming for many years and will be happy to come back in the future because we always have a great time there. I've been able to spend a stay with a baby, birthdays and even a bachelorette party here, everything was top notch. By the way, you definitely have to try the red wine risotto :)

One star, firstly, because three slices of baguette and a few olives, which were served UNASKED immediately after taking a seat, appeared on the bill with a hefty price. We assumed that, like many other renowned restaurants, it was a free amuse gueule. Secondly, one star because more tips were quietly withheld than allowed. This business practice, in addition to the completely inflated prices for drinks, overshadows the otherwise positive aspects of the restaurant.

Very good tapas, but a bit more expensive compared to Spanish restaurants in other cities, especially the drinks. Good, not extraordinary white wine 10.90€/0.2L. I recommend ordering a bottle. Cover costs €3 per person. (per person 2 slices of bread, 4 olives and aioli. Nothing works without a reservation. Two time slots, 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Unfortunately my visit to this restaurant was disappointing. The owner exhibited behavior that was anything but welcoming, which is incomprehensible for a restaurant business. With such an attitude, you shouldn't be surprised if guests stay away and the success of the restaurant suffers. The food also did not meet expectations and was unfortunately below average.

We had a wonderful Christmas party with very tasty food and Julia as a service person was just super entertaining and provided us with everything our hearts desired. All in all, it's definitely a justified five star rating for me

Alles in allem sehr schön, freundlicher Kontakt beim Reservieren, netter Empfang, Bedienung zuvorkommend, Essen gut, Preise für Baden Baden normal. Eine durchaus empfehlenswerte Tapas Weinbar, aus der wir uns nach einem guten Essen zufrieden und mit einem Lächeln im Gesicht verabschiedet haben. Es gab ein paar Kleinigkeiten, die wir uns anders gewünscht hätten: trotz Reservierung für 2 Personen mehrere Tage zuvor, wurden wir an einem (großen) Tisch mit fremden Leuten platziert. Kein hausgemachter Sangria (wir sind da verwöhnt - aber Tinto „von der Stange“ gab es). Die Bedienung überwiegend sehr freundlich, nur eine Dame war nicht ganz so souverän darin, einem Sonderwunsch zu entsprechen. Das Essen war zwar hervorragend, allerdings haben wir die Pimientos noch nie so schal schmeckend gehabt - die gingen leider zurück in die Küche. Wie gesagt, eine Empfehlung weil gut. Zu zweit haben wir 100€ gezahlt mit etwas Trinkgeld, für 4 Tapas, 2 Gläser Tinto, 2 kleine Gläser Wein, eine Flasche Wasser, Brot und Oliven vorneweg.

Hatten in der Weinbar reserviert wurden 3 Tage vorher angerufen dass die weinbar geschlossen hat und wir einen Tisch unten im Monte Christo bekommen als wir vor Ort Ware war die Weinbar geöffnet wir bekammen trotzdem keinenTisch aber alle die nach uns kamen für die gab es Platz ....schade aber es gibt auch noch andere Restaurants.... Wo Service gelebt wird.

Very good products (wines, food) and very nice setting. However, a little expensive and some service practices are particular: we asked for a wine that the owner did not want to open since it was closing the next day, which she did not directly tell us; which she finally opened (without informing us) and therefore imposed the dose on us (20 cl). We also discovered when adding additional costs: €5 for water in a carafe and €3 per person for cutlery. The prices nevertheless remain very reasonable given the quality, the service is friendly, I therefore recommend it, but it is better to go there in advance.

Das zentral in Baden-Baden gelegene Monte Christo ist ein Restaurant, in dem man sich sofort wohl fühlt. Bisschen enger, bisschen trubelig, aber das alles einfach angenehm im Gesamtkonzept. Der nette Service versorgt einen dann schnell mit tollen und fair gepreisten Getränken, um dann sehr sehr leckere Tapas zu servieren. Viele Klassiker aber auch einige sehr leckere Eigenkompositionen. Absolut empfehlenswert.

Die verschieden Tapas waren größtenteils sehr gut. Einige im Mittelfeld. Die Weine eher im Mittelfeld. Insgesamt etwas zu teuer für die Leistung. Wir haben mit Getränken 75 EUR (Essen und Getränke eher üppig) pro Person gezahlt. Auch für Münchner Verhältnisse bei vergleichbarer Leistung kein Schnäppchen.

We were lucky and spontaneously got two seats at the bar. I have rarely been welcomed as warmly as I was here. The food is very tasty, all the staff are very friendly, helpful, warm-hearted. We laughed so much together that we completely lost track of time. I can only recommend Monte Cristo and if I could give more stars, I would. If we have a girls' weekend in Baden-Baden again, we'll be happy to come back.

Delicious food and a typical Spanish ambience - fast service. Recommendation you should make a reservation and be aware that you only have one time slot here. Unfortunately, sitting open-ended is not possible here due to the concept alone. The price is okay but still rather high prices. The only annoying thing is that you are not asked directly if you want the bread and olives - but you are charged. There is a sign but you should still be actively asked about it. And it was even billed twice even though the second time the condition said we could have two, they just put it down because it seemed to have been done too much. I assumed it would be free. It wasn't. Say it clearly here or ask questions!

We visited this restaurant 3 times during our stay in Baden Baden. Once you go back for your second visit, you are like family and they take care of you. Since we need to eat gluten free, they are super careful to ensure everything you order is safe for you. On average, we ordered about 5 different tapas for the two of us to share. We tried a lot of them, and EVERY SINGLE DISH was fantastic! Also, if you haven't tried it before, order a glass of Rioja Blanca as it's a wonderful complement for pretty much anything you order.

We visited Monte Cristo for the first time today and it was really a very nice evening with lots of different and delicious tapas. We were greeted with fresh bread that was of truly exceptional quality. The restaurant itself is really not very big, which is why it feels very cozy and quickly creates a cozy atmosphere.

We got a table without a reservation, albeit in the cooler and slightly damp (rain) courtyard (completely covered with an awning). Thank you again for giving us this opportunity. Aperitif (rose spritzer) delicious and reasonable at €8.90. The tapas Caponata, Pincho del Pollo and Pollo al Sherry are very tasty - we find the price-performance ratio to be reasonable. The croquettes with ham alone weren't to our taste. The ambience in the indoor restaurant is very authentic and cozy - we recommend making a reservation. Service is very attentive and also very authentic, you quickly get in touch. The only thing we don't like is that bread with (some!) aioli is served without asking and is charged €3 per person. Yes, it's on the menu somewhere, but we feel it's very unusual and inappropriate for our restaurant culture. The restaurant management could think about this. Due to the good service and the authentic, delicious food, we would still recommend it and we would come back.

Spanien in Baden-Baden. Ok mit kubanischer Musik… aber die Atmosphäre und das Essen! Einfach nur Wow! Die Portionen sind groß. Vier bis fünf Tapas für zwei Personen völlig ausreichend obwohl man am liebsten die Speisekarte rauf und runter Futtern möchte. Dazu eine herzliche Bedienung, die mit Spaß und Elan jeden zum Lachen bringt. Wir kommen sicher wieder.

Good atmosphere, service was also quite good for how busy they were. We were lucky to get a table and this place did not disappoint.
