No thanks! Hair in the food and shortly afterwards we all had stomach flu... irresponsible. Been new owners for almost 2 months and it is unhygienic and not even recommended to eat there!! That was the last time for us there!!!

Food is not great, sometimes cold and dried out. It's probably been there all day. Drinks partly from plastic bottles of juice from Netto or Aldi. Is the money too bad...

In the evening you are well served with an alcoholic drink, 2 warm drinks and soft drinks for €28.90. The service was very friendly and quick, polite and accommodating. The atmosphere is a bit kitschy, but perfectly fine. The arrangement of the dishes seems a bit random, but you quickly get an overview of it.

Wanted to eat duck, turns out it was pork. And it didn't say anything about pig. Meat is generally a bit poorly prepared, sushi was ok, otherwise not really good food I definitely wouldn't recommend.

My wife and I often come here, I think that for 18.90 per person, you won’t be able to eat anywhere on an all-inclusive system (drinks and food), the staff is friendly, the atmosphere and sound of the water are peaceful, the food is delicious and they also have the most delicious sushi in all of Essen. Food disaster!!! The store opens at 5:30 p.m. and NOTHING is restocked after that! Food sometimes remains in the containers until shortly before closing time (we were there until 9:20 p.m.), regardless of how many guests are still there or not. Accordingly, the food tastes the same after a few hours. 😂 Except for all the drinks, the rest is totally cold and disgusting. New owner doesn't care about the health of the guests, but rather about profit. Food poisoning is included for €29.80. Never again!

It used to be super tasty there, they used to make it a lot easier because you could order the food with a tablet (iPad), and now you have to walk to the buffet again and have a lot less choice than before and the taste has diminished. As much as there is now, it's a real waste of food for me. It's a real shame, I really enjoyed going here to eat, I'll probably have to look for a new Asian restaurant where you have more choice and it tastes better and when asked why ordering via tablet (iPad) was abolished, unfortunately there was no reasonable answer, they just said we haven't had it for 6 months

Today we went to the restaurant for the lunch buffet for the first time. Ambience was nice and appealing. We were just surprised that there were only 4 other guests there besides us (you're always smarter in the end). The food was only lukewarm to cold and some of it was already stuck in the containers. A lot of it was very unhygienic, greasy or parched. All of the fruit was dry and some of it already had white spots. The beetroot was completely sour and also dried out. Most likely the food is prepared early in the morning before opening and then sits in the containers for hours. When we were there for 2 hours, it wasn't even refilled. We left with a queasy stomach and were happy when we were able to use the toilets at home. Since then, neither of us has been doing so well. NEVER AGAIN!!

The selection at the lunch buffet was good and the food was fresh. Unfortunately, one of two waitresses was very demotivated. Otherwise everything was good.

I would like to give stars for the food but no thanks to the fact that we spent almost €60 and could only eat 3 parts because we felt sick afterwards and still had to pay for all you can eat for 2 people, it's pathetic we were just sitting down 30 minutes there and had nothing from it except now a very upset stomach To be honest, I've never had anything so abnormal. Luckily we were there without a child I hope they close soon because as far as that goes, it's a no go

Me and my family go around Netherlands and Germany trying to find the best all you can eat buffets that are reasonably priced, and this one is by far the best one we have tried. For 29€ you get everything included, grill and GOOD sushi. We have come across a lot of buffets with bad sushi but this one was AMAZING! I reccommend this place to everyone!

Once a top, today a flop. Food bad, selection poor. The old concept urgently needs to be restored. New owner only thinks about profit. If I could give zero stars I would.

Very empty restaurant with not so tasty food. We could choose stuff for the BBQ but the sauces weren't that great and the cook messed up the beef. The lady (manager?) was very picky about the one beer per person rule to a point that beers couldn't even be transferred to others. Overall not a pleasant stay and we're not coming again. Also when all you can drink is on the sign they should stick to it an offer unlimited beers like many other hot pot places.

Unfortunately, the restaurant lost out completely. On the last visit you could still order with the tablet and the things were freshly prepared, now it was just a narrow, loveless all you can eat and drink with some not so tasty experiences. Unfortunately we won't be coming back.

Had a buffet meal today for €18.50, even for free it would still be a flat 6, just old and dry stuff from the night before or even older, when I told the waitress that it wasn't good food she just shrugged it off shrugged as if she knew, of course she didn't give a tip🤮

The store is absolutely not recommended unless you are looking for a stomachache for €30. The food had been in the buffet for so long that I thought it was decorative stones. The taste was everything from OK to drinking frying fat. The service threw the cutlery at me 3 times while trying to clear the table and in the end I was able to pay friends & family via PayPal??? Tax returns are probably a foreign concept. Ambience was ok. Never again.

At first it looks good, but when you see all the flies on the raw fish, meat and sushi, don't even eat here. We took some sushi rolls and to our shock there was a small maggot crawling out of our sushi on our plate. We left without eating. The owner wanted to get rid of us fast, before other guests would overhear us. Really a nightmare to the start of our vacation. Still traumatised by this disgusting experience.

Delicious food, nice employees. Restaurant is very large, but fortunately it wasn't really full. I think it could be more tiring when it's full. Selection of food and drinks was great.

We made a reservation online for 6 p.m. and arrived on site at 6 p.m.: the restaurant was completely empty. There was just a note on the door saying they were renovating. None of this would be a problem if it weren't for the fact that you could reserve online. So if you're going to do it, do it right: turn off the online reservation option and provide information on the homepage, that would be great for next time. So unfortunately no stars this time. On a next visit, when hopefully the restaurant will be open again, I'll give it a new review and stars.

Price performance is right here. It's a buffet meal. In a classic Chinese restaurant style with a lot of sushi selection. Food and drinks for €18.90 between 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. The special thing is that drinks are included in the price. Can recommend it.

We used to come here regularly, it was our favorite restaurant. Unfortunately, since the ownership changed, the restaurant can no longer be recommended. Above all, the tray concept was great, so not everyone has played around with your food at the buffet before. The selection has become much smaller, the sushi is not labeled and the fruit no longer looked appetizing. The only plus point is that drinks are included in the price and you can occasionally have things fried. We wanted to give the “restructured” restaurant a chance, but that was our last visit. It's a shame - I hope we find our new favorite restaurant soon. 😢

It's a shame, I always loved eating there back then because you could use the tablet to order things like takoyaki squid skewers or tofu, for example. Now the entire restaurant concept has been changed and a buffet is available. Unfortunately, the range seems to have shrunk and many things are no longer offered. The quality of the food also seems to have declined. The fact that you now have drinks all inclusive is very nice, but I found the selection of food better before.

Every time I come to eat I have to come here with my friend. But this time I was more shocked to know that they have changed the old system from All You Can Eat to Open Buffet which I find really disappointing! There was nothing special in the buffet and the sushi variety is too limited. It simply wasn't noticeable that we ended up leaving the restaurant rather disappointed. What I think is a shame is that the employees and owners are very nice and the food was extremely delicious. But now everything has disappeared. I'm really sorry to say this, but never going back. Every time I come to Essen I must dine here with my friend. This time I was rather SHOCKED to find out that they changed their previous system All You Can eat to a disappointing open buffet! The idea is rediculous and the sushi options are too limited. The whole buffet is not eye-catching at all to be honest that we ended up leaving! Like all other restaurants, they start perfectly up high, then start gradually sinking to hit rock bottom, what a shame! because the food was amazingly delicious and the staff and owners are very nice and so polite. Now it's all gone. Although it used to be my most favorite restaurant in Essen, it saddens me to bid farewell; because we're never coming back again.

The owner has probably changed in the meantime. Since then there has been no tablet system and only inferior Asian buffets. The food was really uninspired and hardly any choice. The taste is very deep fryer-like and simply bad.

Unfortunately, I had a very unpleasant experience at this restaurant. Even though I had paid for the all-inclusive package, I felt like I was being watched by the staff the whole time. They constantly checked what I was eating, which made me feel unwelcome and under constant control. The behavior of the staff was very unprofessional and significantly affected my visit. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurant based on this experience. However, I would like to emphasize that I have never had such experiences at the Gourmet Hu restaurant. I always enjoy a relaxed and hospitable atmosphere there without feeling like I'm being watched.

Was there for the first time on Sunday and luckily wasn't disappointed. Sensible choice. When the meat was specially fried at the back, it had a slightly sweet taste. Therefore, when it comes to food, 4/5 stars. So I will definitely go there again.

I used to love eating here. For almost €30 worth of cold food, almost nothing but empty containers and dried food, it's absolutely not worth it to me these days. I was speechless when we went to the buffet. There was hardly any food replenished in the 2 hours we were there. We had stomach pains during the visit. I prefer to go to other all-you-can-eat restaurants and get a much larger selection of dishes that are at least still warm and edible. Paid almost €30 for a stomach ache and a bad mood. Thanks for nothing.

Unfortunately, the Mikado has changed a lot. The tablet system no longer exists. The food in the buffet is not fresh and there is little to no good sushi left. I won't come here anymore.

My husband and I have enjoyed going there for years. He even discovered sushi at Mikado, but after the owners apparently changed and the tray concept changed, we lost our favorite Chinese restaurant. I only give the 2 stars for the price and the ambience, which they have retained. But the food is bad, hardly any sushi selection. We've never been out as quickly as we did on our last visit. Pure disappointment.

No comparison to the Gourmet Hu in Altendorf or Asia Paradies in Bochum. Service is terrible. Drinks from Aldi and Kaufland. Fruits are dry. The crayfish are almost resurrected from the buffet. Employees are cheeky and don't want to understand you... Salad was already rancid and cucumbers dried out, salad dressing was already sour. The information was not taken into account. Only cash payment possible. You can't mention when entering the store that card payment is not possible. What happened to this store???? This store should be closed. ..

Sauberes Lokal und freundliche Bedienung. Beim "All you can eat" wurden die Speisen nicht zeitnah nachgelegt. Der gebratene Reis befand sich zu lange auf der Warmhalteplatte und wurde zäh bzw. kam dem Rohzustand nahe. Die gebratene Leber war trocken und schmeckte unangenehm. Das Obst war klasse, aber leider zimmerwarm. Die Pilze waren unspektakulär. Das Eis schmeckte fade und schrecklich süß. Einzig das System mit der Getränkeselbstbedienung in Form von großen Kühlschränken mit Panoramascheiben war klasse. Da habe ich schon besser gespeist in Form von "all you can eat". Schade. Ich komme nicht mehr- extra - von über 70 km Entfernung hier her.

Catastrophe! We've been here several times in the past, mainly for the sushi and the selection, which was of good quality. Unfortunately now only mass production, with quality that clearly leaves something to be desired. Some of the food was cold and you had the feeling that the rice was from the lunch buffet. So unfortunately I have to say that I won't be coming back. I always enjoyed being there but the new system without tablets isn't good. You even have to get the drinks yourself - it looks like in the supermarket. Hair and eggshells in the food I was so disgusted! Unfortunately the quality of the food is no longer as good as before. Unfortunately, the new concept backfired badly when I read how others confirmed the same thing to me.

Apparently they recently changed ownership and/or concept. Beforehand there was a good and tasty selection of sushi. Now unfortunately it's a 0/8/15 all you can eat with questionable quality. Drinking is included, which makes everything cheaper than before, but apparently at the expense of quality. Unfortunately we were very disappointed because we were looking forward to the good sushi. Payment is currently only possible in cash or via PayPal. Of course only with friends and family... ;)

Super tasty buffet with all you can eat and drink

I'm a fan of all-you-can-eat, and this one was particularly good! It's particularly great that drinks are included here, the selection for the grill is also good and the grill master did an unusually tasty sear.

The previous concept with the tablet was significantly better. We always liked the restaurant very much. Now the quality and selection of dishes has become much worse.

We actually always enjoyed eating there. But now there is a new concept with a buffet. Catastrophe! Although it was so tasty before, it's now just bad. The food isn't fresh and the place suddenly seems so dingy. Were very disappointing. Drove home with terrible stomach cramps. Way too expensive for such bad food. We ate there last time. Just a shame!

The new “all you can eat and all you can drink” concept (lunchtime for €18.90) isn’t bad, but we liked the tablet version better. We were there at lunchtime, so we can't rate the "grill area" and the chocolate fountain, as both are only available in the evening. The choice of food doesn't seem to be as big as before. The drinks fridges were well stocked. In addition to “real” Cola (normal, light and Zero), Fanta and Sprite, there was Apolinaris and Vio water, but also cheap Kaufland iced tea and Kaufland apple spritzer. It was also a shame that the Kaufland salad dressing was available in the original bottle at the buffet - but the salad selection was still good. The fresh fruit for dessert was also great! We were full and we enjoyed it.

So I really have to say everything was 10/10

Unfortunately, the previous concept (ordering via tablet) has been changed. Now, like the other restaurants, there is the typical “all you can eat” buffet. The robots have also disappeared, but drinks are now included like the others. The price per head is around €28 for adults. The selection of food has also been reduced and the selection of drinks is generally very limited. Absolutely no comparison with Gourmet Hu, even if it is a little over the €30 mark. Not everything was really hot enough, some things were rather lukewarm...it's a shame, it was much better before.

Very pleasant visit to this restaurant. Food in a very good price/performance ratio. Drinks are included - self-service from various refrigerators. Lots of space. Four of us were there on a Saturday lunchtime. It was quite empty, the food wasn't overly prepared so it was always fresh - very pleasant. The selection was typical and as expected at this eatery. In the evening there is much more on offer for a higher price. All in all: it was delicious and we felt comfortable. Clean toilets, parking spaces available in the area with a parking permit - if only with luck. Otherwise there are parking garages nearby.

I like Asian buffets because you can easily eat whatever you want. I had scallops, shrimp, lamb, chicken and especially kimchi as well as sushi. I had a lot of things freshly prepared and served there very well. The reception was really nice and I felt comfortable. I can recommend the fresh juices from Granini that are available there with your meal. The guava dragon fruit was really tasty.

The ingredients are very not fresh, the selection is limited, and more expensive ingredients are not restocked. After eating I felt unwell. The only positive is that the staff are friendly but I won't be returning.

When I came to Germany to eat and taste the taste of home, I felt inexplicably homesick.

Everything was fine, but the floor was very dirty! And some seafood was already on the verge of freshness. Otherwise, everything is delicious and the staff is very friendly!

Now that they've redone everything, it's no longer like it used to be. The food is cold or too dry. With the kitchen in order, things can be better, but things can also be worse. It's good with the sweets and it's good with the free drinks. Overall I would give it a 4-.

Absolute catastrophe, you REALLY get the following for €28.90: perfectly normal Asian buffet AND 4-6 sushi selections at the buffet itself, not ordering anything with an iPad or anything like that. I wish it was a nightmare when I accepted filthy sushi. And the BIG question: Why an LED deer for Easter?

Food, sorry but really bad. Greasy and simply not good quality meat & fish. It's a shame, because the ambience looks very nice at first glance, but the noise is like in a canteen. Although it wasn't full. All you can say about the service is: Nice staff, but since you have to get cutlery and drinks yourself, there is actually almost no service. We had to wait 5 minutes for the bill.

NICHT EMPFELENSWERT! Fettiges und qualitativ schlechtes Essen, laute Atmosphäre. Obst trocken, Essen gerade mal Mittel warm.. Eistruhendeckel defekt Eis also genau das... nicht kalt. Wenn ich etwas positives sagen soll. Personal war soweit vorhanden, freundlich. Da aber bei Selbstbedienung bei Essen und Trinken dies kaum gegeben war. Ist nicht mal das einen halben Punkt wert.

NOT RECOMMENDABLE!!!! Food greasy and really not good. Lovely, buffet not kept clean. The freezer lid was broken when it came to the ice cream, so it was correspondingly soft. The only thing I recommend is the drinks! For the money you should go somewhere else.
