A really nice restaurant. The food is delicious and the staff is very friendly.

At first it looks good, but when you see all the flies on the raw fish, meat and sushi, don't even eat here. We took some sushi rolls and to our shock there was a small maggot crawling out of our sushi on our plate. We left without eating. The owner wanted to get rid of us fast, before other guests would overhear us. Really a nightmare to the start of our vacation. Still traumatised by this disgusting experience.

Delicious food, nice employees. Restaurant is very large, but fortunately it wasn't really full. I think it could be more tiring when it's full. Selection of food and drinks was great.

We made a reservation online for 6 p.m. and arrived on site at 6 p.m.: the restaurant was completely empty. There was just a note on the door saying they were renovating. None of this would be a problem if it weren't for the fact that you could reserve online. So if you're going to do it, do it right: turn off the online reservation option and provide information on the homepage, that would be great for next time. So unfortunately no stars this time. On a next visit, when hopefully the restaurant will be open again, I'll give it a new review and stars.

I liked it a lot more before, when iPads were still available, but now there is hardly any choice. When I was there there were only three types of sushi. The only good thing now is that drinking is included in the price.

Price performance is right here. It's a buffet meal. In a classic Chinese restaurant style with a lot of sushi selection. Food and drinks for €18.90 between 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. The special thing is that drinks are included in the price. Can recommend it.

We used to come here regularly, it was our favorite restaurant. Unfortunately, since the ownership changed, the restaurant can no longer be recommended. Above all, the tray concept was great, so not everyone has played around with your food at the buffet before. The selection has become much smaller, the sushi is not labeled and the fruit no longer looked appetizing. The only plus point is that drinks are included in the price and you can occasionally have things fried. We wanted to give the “restructured” restaurant a chance, but that was our last visit. It's a shame - I hope we find our new favorite restaurant soon. 😢

It's a shame, I always loved eating there back then because you could use the tablet to order things like takoyaki squid skewers or tofu, for example. Now the entire restaurant concept has been changed and a buffet is available. Unfortunately, the range seems to have shrunk and many things are no longer offered. The quality of the food also seems to have declined. The fact that you now have drinks all inclusive is very nice, but I found the selection of food better before.

Every time I come to eat I have to come here with my friend. But this time I was more shocked to know that they have changed the old system from All You Can Eat to Open Buffet which I find really disappointing! There was nothing special in the buffet and the sushi variety is too limited. It simply wasn't noticeable that we ended up leaving the restaurant rather disappointed. What I think is a shame is that the employees and owners are very nice and the food was extremely delicious. But now everything has disappeared. I'm really sorry to say this, but never going back. Every time I come to Essen I must dine here with my friend. This time I was rather SHOCKED to find out that they changed their previous system All You Can eat to a disappointing open buffet! The idea is rediculous and the sushi options are too limited. The whole buffet is not eye-catching at all to be honest that we ended up leaving! Like all other restaurants, they start perfectly up high, then start gradually sinking to hit rock bottom, what a shame! because the food was amazingly delicious and the staff and owners are very nice and so polite. Now it's all gone. Although it used to be my most favorite restaurant in Essen, it saddens me to bid farewell; because we're never coming back again.

The owner has probably changed in the meantime. Since then there has been no tablet system and only inferior Asian buffets. The food was really uninspired and hardly any choice. The taste is very deep fryer-like and simply bad.

Unfortunately, I had a very unpleasant experience at this restaurant. Even though I had paid for the all-inclusive package, I felt like I was being watched by the staff the whole time. They constantly checked what I was eating, which made me feel unwelcome and under constant control. The behavior of the staff was very unprofessional and significantly affected my visit. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurant based on this experience. However, I would like to emphasize that I have never had such experiences at the Gourmet Hu restaurant. I always enjoy a relaxed and hospitable atmosphere there without feeling like I'm being watched.

Was there for the first time on Sunday and luckily wasn't disappointed. Sensible choice. When the meat was specially fried at the back, it had a slightly sweet taste. Therefore, when it comes to food, 4/5 stars. So I will definitely go there again.

I used to love eating here. For almost €30 worth of cold food, almost nothing but empty containers and dried food, it's absolutely not worth it to me these days. I was speechless when we went to the buffet. There was hardly any food replenished in the 2 hours we were there. We had stomach pains during the visit. I prefer to go to other all-you-can-eat restaurants and get a much larger selection of dishes that are at least still warm and edible. Paid almost €30 for a stomach ache and a bad mood. Thanks for nothing.

Unfortunately, the Mikado has changed a lot. The tablet system no longer exists. The food in the buffet is not fresh and there is little to no good sushi left. I won't come here anymore.

My husband and I have enjoyed going there for years. He even discovered sushi at Mikado, but after the owners apparently changed and the tray concept changed, we lost our favorite Chinese restaurant. I only give the 2 stars for the price and the ambience, which they have retained. But the food is bad, hardly any sushi selection. We've never been out as quickly as we did on our last visit. Pure disappointment.

No comparison to the Gourmet Hu in Altendorf or Asia Paradies in Bochum. Service is terrible. Drinks from Aldi and Kaufland. Fruits are dry. The crayfish are almost resurrected from the buffet. Employees are cheeky and don't want to understand you... Salad was already rancid and cucumbers dried out, salad dressing was already sour. The information was not taken into account. Only cash payment possible. You can't mention when entering the store that card payment is not possible. What happened to this store???? This store should be closed. ..

It used to be super tasty there, they used to make it a lot easier because you could order the food with a tablet (iPad), and now you have to walk to the buffet again and have a lot less choice than before and the taste has diminished. As much as there is now, it's a real waste of food for me. It's a real shame, I really enjoyed going here to eat, I'll probably have to look for a new Asian restaurant where you have more choice and it tastes better and when asked why ordering via tablet (iPad) was abolished, unfortunately there was no reasonable answer, they just said we haven't had it for 6 months

Sauberes Lokal und freundliche Bedienung. Beim "All you can eat" wurden die Speisen nicht zeitnah nachgelegt. Der gebratene Reis befand sich zu lange auf der Warmhalteplatte und wurde zäh bzw. kam dem Rohzustand nahe. Die gebratene Leber war trocken und schmeckte unangenehm. Das Obst war klasse, aber leider zimmerwarm. Die Pilze waren unspektakulär. Das Eis schmeckte fade und schrecklich süß. Einzig das System mit der Getränkeselbstbedienung in Form von großen Kühlschränken mit Panoramascheiben war klasse. Da habe ich schon besser gespeist in Form von "all you can eat". Schade. Ich komme nicht mehr- extra - von über 70 km Entfernung hier her.

Catastrophe! We've been here several times in the past, mainly for the sushi and the selection, which was of good quality. Unfortunately now only mass production, with quality that clearly leaves something to be desired. Some of the food was cold and you had the feeling that the rice was from the lunch buffet. We definitely won't be coming back, even the service wasn't what we knew it to be.

The new concept is terrible. We were very disappointed. We used to love going there, the food was very good. Now we had stomach pains after the visit. Very greasy, sauces are now watery. The store was completely run down. We won't be coming back.

You even have to get the drinks yourself - it looks like in the supermarket. Hair and eggshells in the food I was so disgusted! Unfortunately the quality of the food is no longer as good as before. Unfortunately, the new concept backfired badly when I read how others confirmed the same thing to me.

Food good, drinks all included self-service.

Apparently they recently changed ownership and/or concept. Beforehand there was a good and tasty selection of sushi. Now unfortunately it's a 0/8/15 all you can eat with questionable quality. Drinking is included, which makes everything cheaper than before, but apparently at the expense of quality. Unfortunately we were very disappointed because we were looking forward to the good sushi. Payment is currently only possible in cash or via PayPal. Of course only with friends and family... ;)

Super tasty buffet with all you can eat and drink

I'm a fan of all-you-can-eat, and this one was particularly good! It's particularly great that drinks are included here, the selection for the grill is also good and the grill master did an unusually tasty sear.

The previous concept with the tablet was significantly better. We always liked the restaurant very much. Now the quality and selection of dishes has become much worse.

We actually always enjoyed eating there. But now there is a new concept with a buffet. Catastrophe! Although it was so tasty before, it's now just bad. The food isn't fresh and the place suddenly seems so dingy. Were very disappointing. Drove home with terrible stomach cramps. Way too expensive for such bad food. We ate there last time. Just a shame!

The new “all you can eat and all you can drink” concept (lunchtime for €18.90) isn’t bad, but we liked the tablet version better. We were there at lunchtime, so we can't rate the "grill area" and the chocolate fountain, as both are only available in the evening. The choice of food doesn't seem to be as big as before. The drinks fridges were well stocked. In addition to “real” Cola (normal, light and Zero), Fanta and Sprite, there was Apolinaris and Vio water, but also cheap Kaufland iced tea and Kaufland apple spritzer. It was also a shame that the Kaufland salad dressing was available in the original bottle at the buffet - but the salad selection was still good. The fresh fruit for dessert was also great! We were full and we enjoyed it.

So I really have to say everything was 10/10

Beautiful ambient, kind waitress, plenty of good food

Very pleasant visit to this restaurant. Food in a very good price/performance ratio. Drinks are included - self-service from various refrigerators. Lots of space. Four of us were there on a Saturday lunchtime. It was quite empty, the food wasn't overly prepared so it was always fresh - very pleasant. The selection was typical and as expected at this eatery. In the evening there is much more on offer for a higher price. All in all: it was delicious and we felt comfortable. Clean toilets, parking spaces available in the area with a parking permit - if only with luck. Otherwise there are parking garages nearby.

Unfortunately, the previous concept (ordering via tablet) has been changed. Now, like the other restaurants, there is the typical “all you can eat” buffet. The robots have also disappeared, but drinks are now included like the others. The price per head is around €28 for adults. The selection of food has also been reduced and the selection of drinks is generally very limited. Absolutely no comparison with Gourmet Hu, even if it is a little over the €30 mark. Not everything was really hot enough, some things were rather lukewarm...it's a shame, it was much better before.

I like Asian buffets because you can easily eat whatever you want. I had scallops, shrimp, lamb, chicken and especially kimchi as well as sushi. I had a lot of things freshly prepared and served there very well. The reception was really nice and I felt comfortable. I can recommend the fresh juices from Granini that are available there with your meal. The guava dragon fruit was really tasty.

The ingredients are very not fresh, the selection is limited, and more expensive ingredients are not restocked. After eating I felt unwell. The only positive is that the staff are friendly but I won't be returning.

When I came to Germany to eat and taste the taste of home, I felt inexplicably homesick.

Everything was fine, but the floor was very dirty! And some seafood was already on the verge of freshness. Otherwise, everything is delicious and the staff is very friendly!

Now that they've redone everything, it's no longer like it used to be. The food is cold or too dry. With the kitchen in order, things can be better, but things can also be worse. It's good with the sweets and it's good with the free drinks. Overall I would give it a 4-.

NOT RECOMMENDABLE!!!! Food greasy and really not good. Lovely, buffet not kept clean. The freezer lid was broken when it came to the ice cream, so it was correspondingly soft. The only thing I recommend is the drinks! For the money you should go somewhere else.

Absolute catastrophe, you REALLY get the following for €28.90: perfectly normal Asian buffet AND 4-6 sushi selections at the buffet itself, not ordering anything with an iPad or anything like that. Food, sorry but really bad. Greasy and simply not good quality meat & fish. It's a shame, because the ambience looks very nice at first glance, but the noise is like in a canteen. Although it wasn't full. All you can say about the service is: Nice staff, but since you have to get cutlery and drinks yourself, there is actually almost no service. We had to wait 5 minutes for the bill.

NICHT EMPFELENSWERT! Fettiges und qualitativ schlechtes Essen, laute Atmosphäre. Obst trocken, Essen gerade mal Mittel warm.. Eistruhendeckel defekt Eis also genau das... nicht kalt. Wenn ich etwas positives sagen soll. Personal war soweit vorhanden, freundlich. Da aber bei Selbstbedienung bei Essen und Trinken dies kaum gegeben war. Ist nicht mal das einen halben Punkt wert.

The food is below average. Selection is quite poor. Drinking: the juice and the iced tea are from Aldi (PET bottles in the fridge.) Cola Fanta and so you have to pour yourself from large bottles into glasses. The inventory is also falling apart. Better to invest five euros more and go to Groume Hue...

The food was fresh and delicious. The environment was clean and friendly. We had a lovely evening as a family. Thank you.

I think everything is great. I just have one small improvement: Please allow Chinese music to be played in the restaurant too. For such a beautiful restaurant with beautiful Chinese decorations, Chinese music also fits very well. I always enjoy coming to this restaurant

Absolute disaster! It used to be so tasty but now the buffet has made it totally bad. The food was inedible and not fresh. Drinks weren't anything special either and a lot of things were simply bought from discounters. You leave the store with nausea and a stomach ache. Not recommended at all, what a shame! Doesn't even deserve one star.

A pity, Unfortunately, that was the last visit to our “former” favorite all-you-can-eat Asian restaurant. With the tablet before (the last few years) everything was great! Great. Now disappointing. Sushi ("the good ones") are forever empty although sparsely attended. Choice in itself, unlike before, a *joke*. No comparison. Otherwise the food was of minimal standard. Also in terms of taste. Poor selection. There were old clothespins available for attaching the plates that you could have freshly grilled. Table number scrawled on it with Sharpie. The finished plate was then slammed onto the table without comment and when you were just talking to the person sitting next to you, did you realize at some point, oh could that be mine? According to the ingredients, this is what it looks like. Where do I continue to censor? One alcoholic drink per person. OK! But ordering this is difficult. Nobody is coming!!! We were there with 6 adults. Ordered 3 x 2 (Wouhou👏) wines at the counter. One order never arrived. Almost the worst thing is grilling live. You can then choose sauces again with a clothespin and sharpie number. The taste is bland + oily. Every sauce like the other. No fresh selection (Knofi/Chilli etc.) There are other restaurants there. Oh well, paying with an EC card isn't possible either. Very unfortunate. So great before.

I used to like going there because I find the system with the tablet more relaxing than having to constantly get up and walk to the buffet. During our last visit, my girlfriend and I were very surprised when there was suddenly a buffet. I could be wrong, but I somehow had the feeling that the selection, at least when it came to sushi, had become much less and it no longer looked as appealing as it did with the old system. The food tasted like the other restaurants we visited. I don't know why the system was changed, but I think it's a shame and I'll probably have to look for something new. It's a shame... The shop actually had potential.

The restaurant used to be really great. The system with the tablet is simply great. The system is still being advertised on the website and on the Facebook page, which is simply not true. Apparently it was on the day of the week (we don't have the system on Saturdays). Yes, okay, but on another day of the week the system no longer exists, as friends confirmed. It's easy to feel like you're being ripped off. The food isn't bad, but the same can be had at 535 other restaurants in the area.

Save your time people! We were very excited back then when everything was done via tabs. We came here today and drove back after 30 minutes. Unfortunately, this shop has degenerated into a cheap all-you-can-eat construction site. We were very disappointed and will definitely not be coming back

We were there from 12 o'clock and I have to say, the food was very bad and unappetizing! The sushi was ok but the fact that they make the sushi with mayonnaise is really bad. We tried the seafood also very bad. The fried noodles felt tasteless. The peanut sauce was also very bad. Never again.

Owners probably changed, you can forget it!! It was perfect but now it's really not possible, the food in the buffet looks totally old. You get a tray, but you don't want it! Probably more work for them! Unfortunately, we can no longer recommend it!

Disastrous visit: Friday evening, only two tables occupied. There are no more I Pads as described on the website. Only buffet: little choice, bad taste, cold food, MOLDY fruit! Bad service. Borderline toilet situation: no toilet paper, poor cleanliness. And then for €28.90!

Unfortunately the food system was changed to all you can eat, to the detriment of the quality. The selection is solid, but the taste of the dishes can no longer keep up with the freshness and good quality of the time. At 28.90 euros/person including all you can drink it's completely okay. Sushi & More is more like More & a little sushi. This is probably intended to accommodate large crowds...we had a maximum of 20 people there, so the food was either dried out or overcooked. But what was there tasted okay. Nothing to order with the tablet, buffet and grill and max. 10 types of sushi. For once, going out to eat sushi was rather sobering. A pity

What I first have to rate as positive is the friendliness of the service, but that's where it ends. We weren't given any cutlery or napkins at the beginning, which isn't a tragedy, but that's still part of it. I've been to the restaurant before and at that time the system was in place where you get a tablet and you can order fresh sushi and other dishes on it. When I asked, I was able to find out that this system still exists, although you can't read it anywhere and there's no information about it. However, you also pay extra for the drinks and I find the price very unreasonable for the food. We would then have had a total of 80 euros for two people with two drinks each. So we helped ourselves to the buffet. The sushi was only available in a small selection and was anything but fresh. Unfortunately it was exactly the same with the other food and drinks. There are a number of restaurants that offer significantly more variety. I was very disappointed with my stay there. I can't say anything against the ambience, but unfortunately that doesn't make the food any better. I'll eat somewhere else next time.

That was my second time there, first time it was like summer 2023 and they had only sushi, Tablet system, and you order sushi every 15 minutes, now they changed it to buffet style, and they became really bad:( The restaurant is huge, but amount of people..empty huge restaurant. Because there’s not a lot of people, food is old. We just ate fish and shrimps. We came there for dinner, and they had food from lunch or yesterday, not a lot of choices and food looks old, just heated. That was the worst experience so far.. don’t recommend.

I usually go to a different sushi restaurant, however never having seen this restaurant we decided to give it a try. Very very impressed, the quality of the fish is high, on par with other top sushi restaurant ( in germany ) and the verity kept us from getting bored of the sushi. Great creative dishes such as a desert banana mango roll. Honestly I wouldn't write if I wasn't surprised of a new restaurant with only one review. If you like fresh sushi, give it a try, competitive prices, parking is hard to find, so plan to go early and park at the mall WHERE ARE THEY NOW ? It's absolutely disgusting, cheap version of gourmet hu in essen, quality is sub par, little to no choices with no fresh food being brought up . Don't waste your money, so sad to see a good sushi place go to the drain , wasted 60 euro , there was nothing good... ended up going to get food at rewe.

The ordering system has now not been transparently switched to a buffet. Some guests were still able to order using a tablet. The service staff couldn't give any real information as to why exactly that was the case. Apparently when there isn't so much going on. The buffet is cold & greasy. In short, simply inferior. Afterwards I also had terrible stomach cramps that lasted for hours. And all of this for a proud price of almost €29. Edit: Even more than 24 hours later I still have terrible stomach cramps. I've never experienced anything like this before when I've been to a restaurant.

We gave Mikado a 5 star rating 2 years ago. It was great, we always enjoyed coming back! Switching to buffet made it an absolute flop! The food no longer tastes good, the special ambience is missing and the price-performance ratio is absolutely no longer right! Not recommended, is now a normal all you can eat standard Asian! Spend your money on better restaurants :-)

Chairs are sometimes so wobbly that they almost collapse. The chairs are already screwed together with cheap steel brackets. 6. Hardly any clear labels on the various dishes Unfortunately we were very disappointed and will not be coming back again.

Buffet no tablet. Food is dry/greasy or fried to death. Standard buffet chairs have already been patched together with angles. There is no labeling on the ice cream and the spoons are upside down in a cup. You can only sit in one position at the table as there is no leg room. We were very disappointed and unfortunately won't be coming back again.

Unfortunately not more than one star... the restaurant has changed its system to a buffet and tablet and is completely overwhelmed. We just wanted to eat sushi like before, so we got a tablet. After 50 minutes and repeated requests, we received our drinks and after waiting 1.5 hours we received half of our order. The restaurant was only half full and yet we were constantly put off by saying that they were too full and couldn't keep up. The second round of orders only came halfway after waiting for over an hour. We then got tired of it and said we wanted to go but didn't want to pay the full price. This was also dealt with in a very friendly and understanding manner. Our evening ended with us going home angry and hungry. It's a shame, because the few sushis that arrived were delicious.

20 Minuten auf das Tablet gewartet, 40 Minuten mussten zwei Freunde auf die Getränke warten und in zwei Stunden haben wir ganze zweimal Sushi bekommen, die Hälfte dabei hat gefehlt und die andere Bestellung hat zwei Stunden auf sich warten lassen. Die Chefin war nett, eine ihrer Angestellten sollte man kündigen, absolut unprofessionelles Verhalten. Sushi war in Ordnung wenn es dann mal kam. Leider keine Empfehlung.

Service absolute disaster. You wait over an hour for sushi, only half of it arrives. If you ask, you will be put off. The sushi is really tasty, but with the service we won't come back, it's a shame.
