The Merold is always worth a visit. Superfine but down-to-earth cuisine that is of course brutally local. The wine list is good. The service was super friendly.

Absolutely thrilled! Everything was perfect from start to finish. Very attentive and lovely waitresses + sommelier with impressive expertise! We felt super comfortable. And the food was simply amazing! I'm already looking forward to my next visit and until then I'm dreaming of the potato foam... Chapeau to the entire team!

It was our first time in Merold and we were completely thrilled! Everything was just right. The food was incredibly good. Every dish was exceptionally delicious and beautifully presented. Thanks to the recommendation of the very competent sommelier, we drank wines that we would never have ordered otherwise. The entire service staff was so accommodating and friendly! Rounded off by a very nice atmosphere, we really enjoyed the evening and will definitely come back!

This was my first time dining at Merold, I thought the staff were charming, very professional. Anton the sommelier was fabulous, not pushy, very well informed; introduced me to wines I wouldn’t normally have tried. The presentation of the food was beautiful and I couldn’t wait to eat every plate. I absolutely adored the Pate en Croute, I loved the Beef Cheek and the Potato Foam. Despite the torrential rain outside it was very calm and relaxed inside and very chic, lovely ! I am looking forward to returning, D

Finally, after a long renovation phase, Merold is open again. Jonas Merold lovingly designed his restaurant and brought an extremely friendly team into the house, especially Anton Sterly as host and sommelier. For the soft opening phase until the end of September 2024, there is a fine, not so small menu that leaves little to be desired. The official reopening will take place on October 2nd, 2024. The food is not cheap - but absolutely value for money. Jonas Signature Bratwurst in particular enchants with a balanced and hearty spiciness that, together with a sweet and sour kohlrabi and unique mustard seeds, is unparalleled. But every course surprises with great flavors and makes you look forward to what follows. It's nice that the Merold Taste World is now available to enjoy again on a regular basis outside of the pop-up events

The Merold in Neukölln is undoubtedly a culinary jewel. With its charming atmosphere and an impressive mix of casual dining and traditional ambience, the restaurant offers an unforgettable experience not only for gourmets. The menu at Merold is a homage to Berlin and German cuisine, surprising with sophisticated and creative interpretations of classic dishes. It's a shame it just closed, I miss the bratwurst.

Fireworks for the senses have their price.

Unfortunately I can't give it more than one star - it's perhaps a tad too expensive for the wine list, which is really good. Unfortunately, everything else wasn't good. If the concept is sharing (which is also the case in many other restaurants) then the dishes should also be suitable for sharing. Portions are extremely small and you won't get full from the menu, which is really not possible given the price. I gave the restaurant the chance and wrote a nice email with our feedback because I don't really want to write bad reviews on Google and also wanted to give the restaurateur the opportunity to comment. I haven't received a response to date - that's just poor customer service and unfortunately confirms the experience we had that evening.

Spectacular four course meal with sparkling wine pairing! I really love the restaurant, lots of nice fermented sauce and dishes! Absolute delight!

Wenig Essen für viel Geld. Exquisite Küche, leider extrem überteuert.

Where to begin… Maybe we were just unlucky but we really had a hard time enjoying this evening: We ordered the 5 course menu for sharing and had to wait 1 hour before the first course arrived (bread and Camembert), then another hour for the second course to arrive (kale & fish). After that the pace picked up a little bit but the service was really not well organized. All 3 staff members attended every table at random it seemed, therefore much less in tune with the needs of each table. While the table next to us seemed to have ordered the bigger tasting menu where cutlery was exchanged after each course, we had to request on our own a fresh set after eating 6 different dishes (sustainability aspects aside). So much for the service. Unfortunately, also the food was disappointing - it was just not to our liking. From the fermented cheese that was too sour to the overly burnt onions and the trio of celery that was just a bit boring. Sorry to be so blunt but the best tasting dish was the warm bread with the Koji butter only followed by the sausage.

Ein wirklich wunderbarer Neuköllner Ort: Freundlichste Menschen Gastgeber wie Gäste, ganz hervorragendes Essen (Down to earth re-invented up to heaven, somewhat). Alles hoch empfehlenswert! Danke!

Super delicious foods from great chefs

Unser Abend im merold war einfach super! Man wird vom Koch selbst und Sommelier bedient, dass hat uns das Essen (und Getränke) sehr nah gebracht. Das Ambiente ist nicht laut, sowohl im Stil als auch in Lautstärke. Das Essen hat ein bodenständiges Thema, war gleichzeitig aber technisch sehr aufwendig zubereitet. Jonas und sein Team fermentieren und kultivieren viel Vorort - und es schmeckt einfach toll! Alles passt zusammen und macht Sinn, auch wenn es auf der Karte zuerst ungewöhnlich aussieht. Persöhnlich war der Sellerie und Grünkohl ein Favorit, aber auch die Zwiebeln und der Camembert. Das Kartoffelbrot war saftig - ihr merkt, man kann sich schlecht entscheiden! Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder :)

Ein wirklich exzeptionelles sehr innovatives Restaurant in Berlin Neukölln! Jedes Gericht war eine eigene Geschmacksexplosion. Nichts ist hier dem Zufall überlassen. Selbst beim Sauerteigbrot merkt man, wie detailversessen und perfektionistisch hier gearbeitet wird. Ich persönlich fand die vegetarische Menü-Variante spannender als die Fleisch- und Fischvariante. Am erstaunlichen ist auch die Weinkarte, die jenseits der Klassiker wirklich ungewöhnliche Weine auch aus Osteuropa anbietet. Es gibt phantastische ungarische, slowakische, slowenische, serbische, tschechische Weine…. Der Service ist phantastisch aufmerksam und zugleich passend zurückhaltend. Die Einrichtung des Restaurants würde ich persönlich sehr reduziert und fast männlich bezeichnen passt aber alles zueinander. Ein Restaurant in das man gehen muss, wenn man interessiert ist an spannender innovativer Küche.

Extrem gutes Essen, so viele verschiedene Geschmäcker und Konsistenzen und alles passt perfekt. Wir sind hungrig gekommen und glücklich gegangen.

Merold is ok but just another addition to the list of edgy, farm-to-table Neukölln Restaurants that serve natural wine and charge 6€ for bread and butter. This certainly has its legitimacy as food is well done. it's just a pity that locally sourced ingredients and creative dishes seem to go hand in hand with underwhelming service from hipster waiters.. If you don't mind not being treated too nicely and still paying a mid 3 digit bill for this, definitely check it out! Food is worth it.

I absolutely loved the sausage and the wines. Interior design is also very nice, the restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere. The service was fantastic. Unfortunately it was so hot inside, we had an early dinner during summer and somehow the place was not ventilated and it was overall an overwhelming dinner. I would still like to come back.

Too much talk... very little delivery. Went for a pizza afterwards... portions didn't deliver in size or taste. Wines were good. Service overwhelmed.

Fine Dining, aber down to earth. Der Koch und Besitzer Jonas Merold ist locker und sympathisch, genauso wie sein Serviceteam. Haben einen wunderbaren Abend verbracht. Tolle besondere Naturweine, die großzügig eingeschenkt werden. Es gibt auch alkoholfreie Alternativen, die probierenswert sind. Das Essen ist hervorragend, der Fokus auf Regional und Fermentation hat überzeugt. Die Portionsgrößen sind für ein Restaurant dieser Preisklasse eher überdurchschnittlich. Vor allem der Grünkohl war spitze. Für Veganer:innen gibt es auch einige Gerichte auf der Karte, für Vegetarier:innen sowieso. Absolute Bereicherung der Berliner Gastroszene.

Super dass es in Neukölln das merold gibt. Immer ein Besuch wert

Amazing service! Great and unusual combinations in the menu (some were pretty good, but a few were exceptional). Prices and portions were reasonable. Would recommend this place if you are looking for a restaurant that is not not too fancy, but still something special

Es war ein grandioser Abend! Das Essen ist tatsächlich eine Reise durch geschmackliche Welten. Jedes einzelne Gericht mit Liebe zum Detail zubereitet und an den Gast gebracht. Besonders hervorzuheben ist der persönliche Service auf Augenhöhe. Jedes Gericht wird erklärt und das alles abgerundet mit einer hervorragenden Weinbetatung! Ihr seid klasse!

Eindrucksvoll und genial! Jedes einzelne Gericht überzeugt durch Raffinesse und geschmackliche tiefe. Tolle Zutaten, die schön in Szene gesetzt werden und handwerklich fantastisch verarbeitet sind. Schöne Weinkarte und sympathischer Service runden das Ganze ab! Absolute Empfehlungen, wer auf Qualität steht, ist hier richtig.

The place in itself is nice and the service was fine, but the food was a disappointment. The taste did not convince me and the portions were super small. I still do not understand why we had to share the plates. We were a group of five and they offered only four plates for the 3 first courses and only two (!!) for the desserts. I do expect to have my own dish when I am paying 60 euros for the food at a restaurant. Besides that, the setup of the food gave no reason for sharing, on the contrary. I left the place hungry and had to eat bread at home, which is not a good sign.

Der Hammer. Geniale Mischung aus Geerdetem und Vision. Sehr besonders. Und lohnenswert.

Wir hatten uns sehr aufs Merold gefreut und hatten hohe Erwartungen aber leider konnte das Essen diese nicht erfüllen. Es war nicht schlecht aber hat uns leider nicht vom Hocker gehauen (außer vielleicht die Zwiebeln in der braunen Butter). Weniger eingelegter Knoblauch hier und da wäre vielleicht besser gewesen… Schade, denn die Ideen und Kompositionen klangen sehr vielversprechend. Aber der Laden an sich und das Personal waren super - wir saßen schön und haben uns wohl gefühlt. Deswegen erstmal nur 3 Sterne.

Wirklich sehr feines Essen mit ausgewählten Produkten - Qualität die man schmeckt! Allein die Butter ist schon hervorragend! Leider habe ich von den besten Gerichten (Reh, Bratwurst und Tempeh) keine Fotos, da ich einfach sofort essen musste. Ich hätte mir tatsächlich gewünscht, dass die Portionen größer wären - da gäbe es noch Luft nach oben. Sehr engagiertes Personal, die alles liebevoll und sehr persönlich erklären und präsentieren - an der Stelle danke für den tollen Service Lukas! Die Atmosphäre ist leger und doch schick. Die Einrichtung ist bis ins letzte Detail durchdacht und für Liebhaber*innen guten und minimalistischen Designs ein Highlight - wunderbar wie hier subtil mit verschiedenen Materialitäten gespielt wird. Großes Lob!

Ausgesprochen gutes Restaurant. Tolle Location, tolles Team, tolles Essen. Sehr empfehlenswert ist es, ein Menü mit Weinbegleitung zu wählen. Die Geschmäcker potenzieren sich gegenseitig. Genau so sollte es sein. Wir kommen auf alle Fälle wieder!

Food was good and looked beautiful but the experience was poor. We waited 45min for the starter. Portion sizes of first 2 courses were a joke, barely one spoon per person. It felt like they gave us (group of 4), the food for 2 people in small shared plates (my second picture was the entire first course for 4 people! And the desert was also only 2 of those plates for 4 people). After 70min we were still starving. At the end, got charged for two glasses of wine while we ordered one and no apology for the double charging. Waited forever for the bill and had to remind them multiple times. There were only two service people for the whole restaurant and they worked super hard but clearly understaffed. Tried to order tea, which they didn't have. Left hungry. Overall, lots of potential (half the dishes were solid, half were great) but poor overall experience and not recommended at this point.

Jung, modern, professioneller Service, super Essen, ausgewählte Weine, Biodynamisch, fast alles vegetarisch, wir hatten zu viert alle Speisen der Karte bestellt, alles zum Teilen, Jonas ist total sympathisch, natürlich, kompetent, Preise angemessen. wer hat schon Sekt aus Slovenien (Slowakei?), und trockenen Rotwein aus Ungarn ? Wir hatten ganz viel Spaß!
