I was at Mederrano on my first Date, and it was great. We loved the atmosphere; the restaurant was very cozy and suitable for such events. The staff was very friendly and professional and had a good attitude about serving. The food was very delicious and the steaks were cooked just as wished. Overall, it is a five-feels-like-star experience. I only gave four because I felt the reservation I had made was not taken seriously as we had luck with two empty tables that we had to choose between. I might be wrong about that, and it could be the restaurant's policy, but it was not clear to me. I would highly recommend the restaurant, and I would surely come back again.

My sweetheart and I were able to spend yesterday evening at the Mederrano and we are completely convinced. We will continue to be happy customers in the future. The flavors are not bad. Portions are quite filling. The only problem is the service is very slow. Unfortunately, the waiter does not speak English very well, so we ordered even though we had difficulty communicating. The food came very slowly and late. The atmosphere is nice, but there were better places to eat, such as an Italian restaurant in Cologne. That's why we didn't order dessert.

Very tasty Mediterranean fine cuisine in a beautiful historical ambience. The service was competent and very friendly. We were there on Sunday evening and there wasn't much going on. But still very pleasant. Recommended.

I was looking for a cozy restaurant near the hotel and made a reservation here without knowing Mederrano. And what can I say... It exceeded my expectations. We were greeted and looked after very nicely and competently and the ambience and the food were excellent. There was tomato soup, penne al carbonara and goat cheese gratin. Unfortunately we are only in Cologne for a short time, but we will eat here again on our next visit.

Very nice atmosphere, that's extraordinary! The food was partly good (tomato soup, fried sardines, spaghetti prawns and seafood), and partly not good (beef strips gristly and streaky). Unfortunately, the service wasn't good at all, although generally friendly, but not professional. So we had to wait 1.5 hours (!) for the main course, which only came after we asked twice. All of this would have been manageable if you had at least had the feeling that you were sorry. There was a phrase as an apology, but nothing more. There should have been a coffee or something solid in there…. An absolute no-go given the high prices. Too bad. Nobody was really interested in whether we liked it. We'll probably continue to eat out of town.

Alleen al het interieur is de moeite waard om er naar toe te gaan. Ontvangst zeer vriendelijk en de bediening is van hoge kwaliteit. Een mooie kaart en het eten is van super kwaliteit. Wij zijn er dan ook een tweede dag naar toe geweest.Zeker doen als je in keulen bent.

Die Kalbsleber mit getrüffeltem Kartoffelpürree war lecker. Jedoch gab es dazu verbrannte Zwiebeln und nur ein Salbeiblättchen. Trotz zweimaliger Reklamation kam keine Reaktion aus der Küche.

If you want Italian food in Cologne, this is the place!

Briefly: could have been a nice experience until a certain moment….. It’s 7 pm On a Saturday night , the place is not full, only fee tables, service just started. they let us nicely in and we take a table for two. Me and my mother in law didn’t want to eat too much so we go for two proseccos and a starter of fried enchovies accompanied by a salad and salad plate with chicken breast, maybe we would order some more, maybe not, we don’t know. The first waitress asks us twice if we want the starter and I personally find it a bit rude since we already told her our choises (at least to start with) so we confirm our order. She looked estranged that we “only” ordered those small things. The first servings are quite fast and we eat happily and satisfied. Then we are tempted to order more but the place is starting to fill up and in the end we ask for two more prosecco and a plate of cheese selections to finish our dinner. After 20 min the plate did not arrive, I ask the waitress what happened and she quickly answers that they are full and busy. We wait 10 more minutes and in the meantime we finosh our drinks. I ask the waitress to cancel the cheese because we want to go, she looked annoyed and she settles me quickly with a “done, all good”. A third blond waitress comes to ask us if we want to drink more but since we wanted to go I ask for the bill. I give her 65€ (the bill was 62,40€) she doesn’t come back with the rest, so when I ask for the change back she arrogantly assumes that that was the tip…. I am quite shocked! I tell her that The tip is something that the client has to choose and don’t feel obliged to give or not even aware that has been taken. If I wanted to leave the tip with the spare change, I would leave the spare change in the booklet with the bill. She answers me she didn’t have the change, and when I stand up to dress up and leave disappointed and incredulous (now few tables are aware of what is happening) another waiter, maybe the maitre or a superior comes almost throwing me the two euros change on the table. Considering that we felt treated like second-rate clients, I think they should learn some good manners. I will not recommend it and never come back.

Good food for the right price and an attractive environment

I was very lucky to be able to come in without a prior reservation. The service was first class, very nice attentive staff, the food was excellent at a reasonable price, the location and ambience of the restaurant were great. Totally recommended.

Ich bezweifle, dass hier ein Italienischer Wirt oder Koch dahinter steht. Überhaupt fehlt es an jeglicher Ambition in der Küche und in der Restaurantleitung. Der Service am Tisch war sehr freundlich aber eben auch jugendlich ungelernt. Das Essen hat zeitlich ewig gebraucht um drei Portionen Pasta Arrabiata an den Tisch zu bringen. Das war dann ein nicht eindeutiges Nudelgericht mit einer scharfen Ölsauce. Eher Aglio Olio. Der Hauswein war auch nicht zu empfehlen. Wir sagen Dankeschön und kommen nicht wieder.

We came with a group. After ordering, drinks were served quickly and some people ordered starters in a reasonable amount of time. We all waited a good two hours for the main course. A small greeting from the house, some bread and oil or olives - none. The spagetti arrabiata didn't skimp on the oil, but to make it al dente the pasta would have been allowed to sit for another minute and a leaf of basil could have been used for decoration. And from the time I wanted to pay to the payment process, it took another half an hour... An evening with a nice group in a nice but somewhat dark atmosphere that suffered from the service.

Good, fresh food with generous portions and a quiet atmosphere. Centrally located, would love to come back.

Worth seeking out. In Cologne . There was excellent service . The server was very friendly and helpful. Good , clean food . We had fish - perch fish with mustard and a large grilled vegetables as an appetizer that was big enough to be shared. The portions were large and tasty . Recommended.

A bit a hidden place but worth finding! Cellar-like style, with a certain elegance and laid-back, casual and friendly welcome. Our fillet of lamb was excellent, but the vegetables a bit too oily. We enjoyed the evening and recommended this place; you will not regret your visit!

Everything possible was five stars. The location, the atmosphere, the service, the food, the prices. Set in a room that looks like the inside of an Italian grotto, this place evokes Italy in every way. I had the spaghetti carbonara and it was out of this world. The bruschetta was as fresh as can be.

Very nice restaurant, you feel like you're in a vaulted cellar. The dishes were all very tasty, although the price was a bit high. The only downside was a group of Russian ladies, obviously two mothers with their daughters. ZERO behavior, but unpleasantly loud, cell phone videos at full volume, just like phone calls and very rude to the waitress. You can safely do without such guests.

Wir waren zu zweit hier und das Essen ist wirklich lecker. Wir hatten auch eine angenehme Flasche Wein aus Bolgheri. Die Einrichtung im Kellergewölbe ist ansprechend. Die Bedienung und die Flexibilität ist nun ja… gewöhnungsbedürftig. Wir hatten jede einen Aperitif und zusammen für 2 Personen bereits drei Vorspeisen und eine Flasche Wasser konsumiert. Eine Flasche Wein war ebenfalls schon bestellt. Wir wollten uns noch etwas Zeit mit der Bestellung der Hauptspeise lassen, was wir auch kommuniziert hatten. Die Servicekraft wollte uns diese Zeit aber offenbar nicht zugestehen und stand minutenlang an unserem Tisch, obwohl wir um Bedenkzeit baten. Das war sehr unangenehm. Als ich dann bestellen und als Beilage statt der Rosmarinkartoffeln den getrüffelten Kartoffelpüree bestellen wollte, wurde mir mitgeteilt, dass das nicht möglich sei. Bei einem Hauptgericht von rund 36€ und einer Differenz der Beilage von knapp 3€, die ich auch bereit war zu entrichten, erscheint dies sehr seltsam. Nach meiner Unmutsbekundung war die Änderung dann doch noch und sogar ohne Aufpreis möglich. Trotzdem schade, dass ein gemütlicher Abend, an dem wir rund 200€ gezahlt haben durch das „Service“-Personal weniger gut war als er bei den wirklich leckeren Speisen und Getränken hätte sein können.

Sehr gutes Essen aber für deutsche Preise bei einem Italiener schon ziemlig hoch. Jede einzelne Beilage kostet extra! Am Anfang war der Service und Empfang super, nach dem Hauptgericht ging es aber steil bergab. Nach 45 Minuten als der Teller von unserem Sohn noch immer auf dem Tisch stand, sind wir aufgestanden, haben bezahlt und sind gegangen! Sehr schade, Trinkgeld gabs keinen!

Hatten 30 Minuten zum überbrücken in der Umgebung und wollten eine Flasche Wein in der Location trinken. Der Umsatz von Getränken und essen wird hier anscheinend getrennt und ist für mich an Arroganz nicht zu überbieten. Allein die Reaktion des Inhabers darauf, drängt mich zu dieser Rezension. Die Lokalität war halb besetzt. Absolut nicht weiterzuempfehlen. Gibt in Köln bessere, offenere und vor allem freundlichere Gastronomen. Hier ist Schulungsbedarf auf niedrigster Ebene von Nöten

Don’t recommend this trash!! Made a reservation with this restaurant, got accepted knowing it was for a birthday. 10 minutes before we arrived, they just said they would close at 10pm when clearly their website says 11pm. Now a lady working there named Marina, has at first told me my reservation was too late and they had to let the kitchen go early, and she has just told me we had no chance of eating there, regardless of this special day and the circumstances they had offered when making the reservation with days in advance, knowing we had reserved a table to eat!They have just ruined a birthday dinner, and were very rude! never again!

Miejsce ładne, idealne na spotkania firmowe. Przepyszne potrawy, głównie poszedłem w smaki owoców morza. Nie zawiodłem się. Szczerze polecam.

Vorweg: das Personal ist sehr sehr freundlich. Zum Essen: wir hatten bestellt ein Entrecote 300g, medium gebraten mit einer Pommery-Senf-Sauce und einem Salat. Die Sauce konnte die freundliche Bedienung nicht auf dem Pad finden, daher mussten wir nehmen, was sie fand: Würzbutter. Ebenso hatten wir Spaghetti mit Garnelen und Tomaten in Olivenöl. Das Entrecote kam in 2 Teilen, ein kleines Teil komplett durchgebraten, das größere Teil gut gebraten, aber fast kalt. Zum Salat wurde erst ein Dressing gebracht, nachdem wir nachgefragt haben. In den mit Olivenöl getränkten Spaghettis waren ungeschälte kleine Garnelen. Also mussten wir mit der Hand die Garnelen aus den heißen öligen Spaghettis fischen und schälen. Leider weder ein Teller für die Schalen, noch ein Tuch für die Hände. Schade Zum Ambiente: ja, es ist ein schönes altes Gewölbe, schön anzusehen, aber es waren gerade mal 10 Personen mit uns in dem riesigen Raum, und es war unfassbar laut. Es tut uns leid, weil das Personal wirklich sehr freundlich war, aber wir kommen nicht wieder.

Wir hatten nicht viel Zeit und hatten das direkt gesagt . Alles hat perfekt gepasst und sehr lecker geschmeckt . Jederzeit wieder

Autsch 😔 Das war nix. Also die Vorspeise war ok, aber Pasta nicht al dente in der Soße matschig ertrunken, danach noch ein Tiramisu was sehr wässrig war....autsch.... . Der Service bemüht, doch total überlastet. Das Ambiente....ja, aber bei dem überlasteten Service untergehend. Und die Toiletten: man geht nach unten und denk...na wenigstens das passt und dann der Schock.... Toiletten wünschenswert!!! Da bleibt mir nur.... das war nix

place is well located in cologne city center...parking is tough though. The food was good along with starters that we ordered. The service was bad .....to few staff and kitchen staff and therefore delay in food service.....they worked hard though....but customers not happy

We waren opzoek naar een restaurant voor een diner. Dit restaurant had ik via TripAdvisor gevonden. Het was even zoeken, het restaurant valt niet echt op maar bij toeval zagen wij het naambord, Van binnen zo gezellig en bijzonder. We werden gastvrij ontvangen en hebben geweldige avond gehad met een heerlijk diner. Een echte aanrader!

Ein kulinarisches Erlebnis der Extraklasse! Das Restaurant „Mederrano“ in der Kölner Innenstadt hat uns rundum begeistert. Von Anfang bis Ende war unser Abend dort ein Genuss für alle Sinne. Eigentlich schreibe ich nur sehr selten eine Rezension, aber bei einem so bleibenden Eindruck möchte ich meine Erfahrungen gern mit anderen Genussmenschen teilen. Wir waren in unserem Kurzurlaub zu fünft an einem Mittwochabend dort, einen Tag nach einem Feiertag. Eine Reservierung war aufgrund dessen nicht notwendig. Die Lage des Restaurants ist äußerst praktisch, nur wenige Gehminuten vom Maritim, wo wir übernachtet haben, und der Haltestelle "Heumarkt" (Linien 1, 5, 7, 9) entfernt. Das macht es leicht erreichbar, auch wenn es etwas versteckt liegt, und ist ideal für ein entspanntes Essen nach einem Tag in der Stadt. Das Ambiente des Restaurants ist ansprechend. Das alte Patrizierhaus mit seinem historischen Weinkeller verleiht dem Ort eine besondere Atmosphäre. Es ist insgesamt gemütlich und einladend. Das Essen war einfach fantastisch! Besonders hervorzuheben ist die außergewöhnliche Qualität und Zubereitung des 300g-Rumpsteaks. Es war perfekt auf den Punkt gegart, zart und saftig – ein wahrer Hochgenuss für Fleischliebhaber wie mich! Das grobe Natursalz hat dabei den besonderen Geschmack des Steaks noch weiter betont. Die begleitenden Rosmarinkartoffeln waren geschmacklich unvergleichlich und ergänzten das Steak hervorragend. Der Blattsalat war knackig und frisch. Aber auch das Dessert hat unsere Erwartungen übertroffen, z.B. der süße Schokokuchen mit Vanilleeis. Der flüssige Schokoladenkern war umhüllt vom saftigen Kuchenteig – ganz so wie es sein soll. Ein himmlischer Abschluss! Die Präsentation der Gerichte war ebenso beeindruckend wie ihr Geschmack. Das Personal verdient ebenfalls höchstes Lob und ist allein einen Extra-Stern wert. Es war äußerst zuvorkommend, freundlich und authentisch und machte unseren Abend noch unvergesslicher. Insgesamt kann ich das Restaurant Mederrano uneingeschränkt empfehlen. Die mediterrane Küche ist hier auf höchstem Niveau, das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis stimmt, das Ambiente ist ansprechend und das Personal macht den Besuch zu einem wahren Vergnügen. Wenn wir wieder in Köln sind, werden wir definitiv wiederkommen, um weitere Köstlichkeiten zu genießen! Oder einfach noch einmal das perfekte Steak!

In einem wunderschönen Ambiente kann man hier hervorragend essen und trinken. Wir waren zu fünft dort und haben alle das Rumpsteak bestellt. Ich habe schon oft Rumpsteak Medium rare bestellt, aber nicht überall bekommen. Hier ist das Steak auf den Punkt genau perfekt zubereitet: besonders zart und, wie auch die Beilagen, eine Geschmacksexplosion. Ich habe, wie meine 4 Begleiter, wirklich nur ganz selten so ein hervorragendes Steak gegessen. Auch die Rosmarinkartoffeln waren hervorragend und selbst der Salat war toll: knackig und frisch. Besonders hervorzuheben ist außerdem das Personal: sehr freundlich, humorvoll und authentisch. Man merkt, dass der Beruf hier nicht nur ein Job, sondern eine Berufung ist. Wir haben uns alle 5 sehr wohl gefühlt, hervorragend gegessen und einen unvergesslichen Abend verbracht. Vielen Dank für das sagenhafte Essen und Ihre ausgesprochen gute Gastfreundlichkeit!

Ambiente in einem schönen Gewölbekeller, aber deko und Möbeliar passen leider nicht gut. Wir haben mindestens 15 Minuten auf unser Getränk gewartet. Kellner wirken überfordert. Essen war lecker aber die Portionen sehr klein. Ist den Preis nicht wert. Zudem wurde bestelltes Brot und Sauce nach 2 Mal nachfragen erst am Ende des Essens gebracht. Für mich nie wieder.

Essen ist geschmacklich sehr gut, Portionen aber deutlich zu klein für den Preis. Service hat große Probleme im Management und mit der Technik, Bestellungen waren unvollständigen und wurden auch auf Nachfrage nicht nachgereicht.

Leider wurden wir an einem Samstagabend nur spärlich bedient: Gerichte wurden vergessen, Beilagen auch auf Nachfrage nicht nachgeliefert, nach Getränken wurde nicht ein zweites Mal gefragt. Das Team wirkte sehr überlastet. Insgesamt schmeckte das Essen gut, die Portionsgrößen sind allerdings eine absolute Frechheit. Es werden mini Portionen Pasta zu dafür erhöhten Preisen angeboten. Von den Pasta Arrabiata können wir abraten: sie schmeckten weder nach Tomate, noch scharf. Die Lachs- Pasta dahingegen waren sehr appetitlich. Wir haben den Laden hungrig verlassen und sind in ein nahegelegenes Pizzalokal eingekehrt. Zu teuer, um hungrig zu gehen. Einmal und nicht wieder.

Trinkgeld wird vom Besitzer dem Service nicht vollständig weiter gegeben.

Zeer lekker restaurant. De bediening is zeer vriendelijk. Het kader is prachtig en gezellig. Niet duur. Is een echte aanrader! Ligging in de Altstadt.
