Mederrano in Köln

Das Essen (Lachs und Lamm) war sehr lecker. Das Service ist top. Das Ambiente sehr schön. Aber: Bitte keine Youtube-Playlist mit Werbung mehr. 😉

Top, von aussen unscheinbar, innen sehr ansprechend. Zu empfehlen ist die Languste mit Spaghetti und der Lachs, einfach fantastisch 👍 Waren Samstag Abend nach 20.00 Uhr dort essen, Restaurant war fast leer, was uns sehr wunderte bei dem top Essen.

Ich war heute zum dritten Mal dort Essen und wieder bin ich total begeistert. Sehr leckere Speisen, die frisch angerichtet werden. Die Speisekarte ist vielfältig aber nicht überladen. Es ist für jeden Geschmack etwas dabei! Sehr nette Bedienung und das Ambiente ist einfach mega schön!

Das Restaurant ist wirklich enttäuschend. Sobald man reingeht, wird einem direkt die Stimmung ruiniert, weil alles so langweilig und trostlos wirkt. Die Atmosphäre macht einem sofort die Laune kaputt. Dazu kommt noch, dass das Essen nicht einmal schmeckt und dafür auch noch viel zu überteuert ist. Absolut nicht empfehlenswert.

Wir hatten eine sehr positive Erfahrung in diesem Restaurant, das wir mit einem befreundeten Paar besuchten. Schon bei der Tischreservierung am Vortag wurden wir vom Personal herzlich und freundlich empfangen. Zum Abendessen genossen wir einige Austern (Tagesangebot – köstlich und sehr ansprechend präsentiert), einen perfekt gegrillten Wolfsbarsch, Fischsuppe (die in Ordnung war, aber nicht herausragend), Kalbsleber und eine sehr gute Flasche Sancerre. Ein gelungener Start in den Abend! 😁 Update 04.2026: Wir waren inzwischen zweimal wieder dort. Die Preise sind deutlich gestiegen. Die Servicequalität hängt davon ab, wer einen bedient. Einige der Kellner sind sehr jung und haben wenig Erfahrung und Kenntnisse über die Speisen und Weine. Wir hatten eine suboptimale Erfahrung, als uns erst über eine Stunde nach unserer Bestellung und bereits beim Servieren des ersten Ganges mitgeteilt wurde, dass der von uns bestellte Fisch nicht mehr verfügbar sei. Der exzellente und erfahrenere Serviceleiter fand jedoch eine gute Lösung für uns.

Mehr Sterne gibt es nicht zu vergeben. Eines der besten Restaurants in Köln in allen Bereichen. Aufmerksam, schneller und freundlich der Service. Preise sehr gut für alle Leistungen.

Mit Abstand die beste Kalbsleber, die ich je in einem Restaurant gegessen habe – absolut auf den Punkt zubereitet. Dazu ein hervorragendes Kartoffelpüree und aromatische Salbeibutter, die perfekt harmoniert haben. Auch der Weißburgunder passte ausgezeichnet zum Gericht und rundete das Geschmackserlebnis ab. Der Service war durchweg sehr gut, besonders „unser“ junger Servicemitarbeiter war äußerst aufmerksam und freundlich. Ebenso überzeugend waren die Calamari mit Rosmarinkartoffeln und Grillgemüse – ebenfalls sehr lecker! Außerdem findet man auf der Karte längst vergessene Schätze wie einen trockenen Sherry, Rémy Martin oder einen Dimple. Von mir eine ganz klare Empfehlung!

Nach zwei Wochen in Deutschland (Kartoffeln mit Wurst, Kartoffeln mit Schnitzel, Kartoffeln mit Wurst – und so weiter) hatte ich richtig Lust auf Italiano. Als Italienerin bin ich ziemlich wählerisch, aber die Pasta war perfekt zubereitet und alles hat köstlich geschmeckt. Wenn ich das nächste Mal zur Messe in Köln bin, komme ich auf jeden Fall wieder!

Super leckeres Essen in entspannter Atmosphäre, mit aufmerksamer Bedienung, in schönen Räumlichkeiten mit gemütlichen Sitzgelegenheiten.

Schönes Ambiente in einem alten Gewölbe. Ich war zur Weihnachtszeit hier, dementsprechend voll war es. Wir hatten aber reserviert und deshalb auch einen Sitzplatz bekommen. Leider hat man es in den 1,5 Stunden des Aufenthaltes nicht geschafft, mir ein zweites Getränk zu bringen, obwohl ich mehrfach bestellt habe. Beim Essen wurde eine Beilage nicht serviert, auch dafür musste ich mehrfach nachfragen. Zum Ende des Essens wurde dann doch noch die Beilage serviert. Das Essen war gut, Preis Leistung fand ich allerdings nicht passend. Kann sein, dass der Service besser ist, wenn es nicht so voll ist, aber ich kann ja nur bewerten, was ich erlebt habe.

We found the restaurant by chance. The staff was friendly and smiling. The food was delicious, the wine had a memorable finish, and the atmosphere was pleasant.

There were three of us, and we were dissatisfied. The wait between the very meager appetizer and main course was far too long, almost an hour. The main course arrived at the same time as the next table, which had arrived half an hour after us. Add to that the often-mentioned mediocre service. After our first drink, we had to wait a long time and only received a new one after directly asking for it. The absolute worst part was that just before the main course arrived, our already empty glasses were cleared away. The food was served, placed across the table. That was it. No more drinks. No one asked if we needed anything, no service in sight, not even eye contact. We'd had enough of that restaurant. When the table was cleared and we were asked if we enjoyed our meal, our response that it would have tasted better with another drink was a mumbled "oh, sorry" as they walked away. Seriously.

The food tastes really good, the atmosphere is pleasant, and the service could be improved. Apparently, we had trainees who weren't quite on top of things. Clearing plates and bringing the ordered drinks took a little longer, but the staff were still friendly.

A slight deduction for the carbonara. It's not traditional and too heavy. Otherwise, everything was excellent.

The food, service, and ambiance are truly recommended! The cool vaulted interior is especially wonderful on hot days. Every visit to Cologne includes an evening there.

El restaurante está un poco alejado de los caminos trillados, pero una vez que entras en la decoración es impresionante. En realidad comimos aquí dos veces durante nuestra estancia en Colonia y encontramos que la comida era deliciosa, pero nuestro servidor Laure es que hizo que nuestras dos noches maravillosas. ¡Gracias Laure! Das Ambiente ist wirklich schön, aber es ist so laut das man sein eigenes Wort nicht versteht. Wir hatten erstmal Brot mit Dip bestellt, das ist aber ausgegangen und kam nicht, auf der Rechnung war es trotzdem, außerdem 3 Kölsch obwohl wir nur zwei hatten. Auf die Getränke mussten wir sehr lange warten und auch öfters nachfragen, ob sie überhaupt noch kommen. Die Vorspeise kam recht zügig, allerdings auch ohne Brot, auf Nachfrage hieß es das es immer noch keines gibt, da es gerade erst wieder gebacken wird und weder beim Vitello Tonnato noch beim Oktopus Carpaccio welches dabei wäre. Die Soße zur Hauptspeise kam als wir fast fertig waren mit essen und schon mehrere Male nachgefragt hatten. Da muss ich kein zweites Mal hin.

Wir waren das zweiten mal hier und auch das letztes Mal. Erste Besuch letztes Jahr zum 60 Geburtstag feiern. Ambiente wunderschön, Service Personal könnte freundliche sein. Damals falsche Essen gebracht und dieses mal auch. So das Man sein Partner alleine essen lässt weil Man auf seine Essen noch dazu warten muss. Kellnerin drauf gesprochen wegen beides mal und das sie ein bisschen freundlicher die Gasten gegenüber sein könnte. Alles abgestritten sie war das nicht !!! Obwohl Sie die eigene Kellnerin am beiden Abenden da war. Wie gesagt Ambiente wunderschön Essen auch, nur das Service Personal muss ein bisschen freundlicher sein. Beim Bestellungen aufgeben am besten nochmal fragen ob es richtig Notiert ist.

Inzwischen komme ich schon seit vielen Jahren ins Mederrano. Immer auch spontan, Mittags oder Abends eine gute Adresse. Zentral in der Nähe vom Maritim Hotel, etwas versteckt gelegen, fußläufig aus Altstadt und Hbf gut erreichbar. Die Qualität von Essen, Service und Getränken sowie das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis sind gleichbleibend hoch. Nach wie vor gilt das Mederrano als (geheim) Tipp. Immer findet man einen gemütlichen Platz, immer etwas leckeres zu essen. Gerne wieder. Tolle Vorspeisen, Hauptspeisen und Nachtische. Tolle Weine.

I was at Mederrano on my first Date, and it was great. We loved the atmosphere; the restaurant was very cozy and suitable for such events. The staff was very friendly and professional and had a good attitude about serving. The food was very delicious and the steaks were cooked just as wished. Overall, it is a five-feels-like-star experience. I only gave four because I felt the reservation I had made was not taken seriously as we had luck with two empty tables that we had to choose between. I might be wrong about that, and it could be the restaurant's policy, but it was not clear to me. I would highly recommend the restaurant, and I would surely come back again.

My sweetheart and I were able to spend yesterday evening at the Mederrano and we are completely convinced. We will continue to be happy customers in the future. The wine list, dishes and service were excellent and left nothing to be desired. Strongly recommended. Kind regards and many thanks to the service team and the kitchen!

The flavors are not bad. Portions are quite filling. The only problem is the service is very slow. Unfortunately, the waiter does not speak English very well, so we ordered even though we had difficulty communicating. The food came very slowly and late. The atmosphere is nice, but there were better places to eat, such as an Italian restaurant in Cologne. That's why we didn't order dessert.

Very tasty Mediterranean fine cuisine in a beautiful historical ambience. The service was competent and very friendly. We were there on Sunday evening and there wasn't much going on. But still very pleasant. Recommended.

I was looking for a cozy restaurant near the hotel and made a reservation here without knowing Mederrano. And what can I say... It exceeded my expectations. We were greeted and looked after very nicely and competently and the ambience and the food were excellent. There was tomato soup, penne al carbonara and goat cheese gratin. Unfortunately we are only in Cologne for a short time, but we will eat here again on our next visit.

Very nice atmosphere, that's extraordinary! The food was partly good (tomato soup, fried sardines, spaghetti prawns and seafood), and partly not good (beef strips gristly and streaky). Unfortunately, the service wasn't good at all, although generally friendly, but not professional. So we had to wait 1.5 hours (!) for the main course, which only came after we asked twice. All of this would have been manageable if you had at least had the feeling that you were sorry. There was a phrase as an apology, but nothing more. There should have been a coffee or something solid in there…. An absolute no-go given the high prices. Too bad. Nobody was really interested in whether we liked it. We'll probably continue to eat out of town.

Alleen al het interieur is de moeite waard om er naar toe te gaan. Ontvangst zeer vriendelijk en de bediening is van hoge kwaliteit. Een mooie kaart en het eten is van super kwaliteit. Wij zijn er dan ook een tweede dag naar toe geweest.Zeker doen als je in keulen bent.

Die Kalbsleber mit getrüffeltem Kartoffelpürree war lecker. Jedoch gab es dazu verbrannte Zwiebeln und nur ein Salbeiblättchen. Trotz zweimaliger Reklamation kam keine Reaktion aus der Küche.

Heel vriendelijke mensen en ze spreken zelfs Nederlands. Het eten was super lekker en meer dan genoeg. De wijn was prijs / kwaliteit fantastisch! Zeker een aanrader ! Heel mooi kader om te gaan eten.

If you want Italian food in Cologne, this is the place!

Briefly: could have been a nice experience until a certain moment….. It’s 7 pm On a Saturday night , the place is not full, only fee tables, service just started. they let us nicely in and we take a table for two. Me and my mother in law didn’t want to eat too much so we go for two proseccos and a starter of fried enchovies accompanied by a salad and salad plate with chicken breast, maybe we would order some more, maybe not, we don’t know. The first waitress asks us twice if we want the starter and I personally find it a bit rude since we already told her our choises (at least to start with) so we confirm our order. She looked estranged that we “only” ordered those small things. The first servings are quite fast and we eat happily and satisfied. Then we are tempted to order more but the place is starting to fill up and in the end we ask for two more prosecco and a plate of cheese selections to finish our dinner. After 20 min the plate did not arrive, I ask the waitress what happened and she quickly answers that they are full and busy. We wait 10 more minutes and in the meantime we finosh our drinks. I ask the waitress to cancel the cheese because we want to go, she looked annoyed and she settles me quickly with a “done, all good”. A third blond waitress comes to ask us if we want to drink more but since we wanted to go I ask for the bill. I give her 65€ (the bill was 62,40€) she doesn’t come back with the rest, so when I ask for the change back she arrogantly assumes that that was the tip…. I am quite shocked! I tell her that The tip is something that the client has to choose and don’t feel obliged to give or not even aware that has been taken. If I wanted to leave the tip with the spare change, I would leave the spare change in the booklet with the bill. She answers me she didn’t have the change, and when I stand up to dress up and leave disappointed and incredulous (now few tables are aware of what is happening) another waiter, maybe the maitre or a superior comes almost throwing me the two euros change on the table. Considering that we felt treated like second-rate clients, I think they should learn some good manners. I will not recommend it and never come back.

What I appreciated most was the atmosphere—unlike many restaurants where loud music can overpower conversation, Mederrano strikes a nice balance, allowing for easy dialogue and a cozy vibe.

Très très chouette soirée, lieu magnifique, nourriture succulente surtout l'agneau!! Nous recommandons très chaudement! Les serveurs essayent de s'adapter à la langue du client.

Good food for the right price and an attractive environment

I was very lucky to be able to come in without a prior reservation. The service was first class, very nice attentive staff, the food was excellent at a reasonable price, the location and ambience of the restaurant were great. Totally recommended.

Ich bezweifle, dass hier ein Italienischer Wirt oder Koch dahinter steht. Überhaupt fehlt es an jeglicher Ambition in der Küche und in der Restaurantleitung. Der Service am Tisch war sehr freundlich aber eben auch jugendlich ungelernt. Das Essen hat zeitlich ewig gebraucht um drei Portionen Pasta Arrabiata an den Tisch zu bringen. Das war dann ein nicht eindeutiges Nudelgericht mit einer scharfen Ölsauce. Eher Aglio Olio. Der Hauswein war auch nicht zu empfehlen. Wir sagen Dankeschön und kommen nicht wieder.

We came with a group. After ordering, drinks were served quickly and some people ordered starters in a reasonable amount of time. We all waited a good two hours for the main course. A small greeting from the house, some bread and oil or olives - none. The spagetti arrabiata didn't skimp on the oil, but to make it al dente the pasta would have been allowed to sit for another minute and a leaf of basil could have been used for decoration. And from the time I wanted to pay to the payment process, it took another half an hour... An evening with a nice group in a nice but somewhat dark atmosphere that suffered from the service.

Good, fresh food with generous portions and a quiet atmosphere. Centrally located, would love to come back.

Worth seeking out. In Cologne . There was excellent service . The server was very friendly and helpful. Good , clean food . We had fish - perch fish with mustard and a large grilled vegetables as an appetizer that was big enough to be shared. The portions were large and tasty . Recommended.

The restaurant is difficult to find, there are not enough signs. The atmosphere and ambience, very nicely done, the light could have been a little brighter to read the menu, but otherwise okay. The food was excellent and that balanced it all out. Would also recommend it.

A bit a hidden place but worth finding! Cellar-like style, with a certain elegance and laid-back, casual and friendly welcome. Our fillet of lamb was excellent, but the vegetables a bit too oily. We enjoyed the evening and recommended this place; you will not regret your visit!

Everything possible was five stars. The location, the atmosphere, the service, the food, the prices. Set in a room that looks like the inside of an Italian grotto, this place evokes Italy in every way. I had the spaghetti carbonara and it was out of this world. The bruschetta was as fresh as can be.

Haben ohne Reservierung einen Tisch bekommen. Lokal sieht sehr schön aus in einem Gewölbekeller. Personal ist freundlich und Zuvorkommend. Essen ist Vorzüglich und sehr rasch.

Very nice restaurant, you feel like you're in a vaulted cellar. The dishes were all very tasty, although the price was a bit high. The only downside was a group of Russian ladies, obviously two mothers with their daughters. ZERO behavior, but unpleasantly loud, cell phone videos at full volume, just like phone calls and very rude to the waitress. You can safely do without such guests.

Wir waren zu zweit hier und das Essen ist wirklich lecker. Wir hatten auch eine angenehme Flasche Wein aus Bolgheri. Die Einrichtung im Kellergewölbe ist ansprechend. Die Bedienung und die Flexibilität ist nun ja… gewöhnungsbedürftig. Wir hatten jede einen Aperitif und zusammen für 2 Personen bereits drei Vorspeisen und eine Flasche Wasser konsumiert. Eine Flasche Wein war ebenfalls schon bestellt. Wir wollten uns noch etwas Zeit mit der Bestellung der Hauptspeise lassen, was wir auch kommuniziert hatten. Die Servicekraft wollte uns diese Zeit aber offenbar nicht zugestehen und stand minutenlang an unserem Tisch, obwohl wir um Bedenkzeit baten. Das war sehr unangenehm. Als ich dann bestellen und als Beilage statt der Rosmarinkartoffeln den getrüffelten Kartoffelpüree bestellen wollte, wurde mir mitgeteilt, dass das nicht möglich sei. Bei einem Hauptgericht von rund 36€ und einer Differenz der Beilage von knapp 3€, die ich auch bereit war zu entrichten, erscheint dies sehr seltsam. Nach meiner Unmutsbekundung war die Änderung dann doch noch und sogar ohne Aufpreis möglich. Trotzdem schade, dass ein gemütlicher Abend, an dem wir rund 200€ gezahlt haben durch das „Service“-Personal weniger gut war als er bei den wirklich leckeren Speisen und Getränken hätte sein können.

Sehr gutes Essen aber für deutsche Preise bei einem Italiener schon ziemlig hoch. Jede einzelne Beilage kostet extra! Am Anfang war der Service und Empfang super, nach dem Hauptgericht ging es aber steil bergab. Nach 45 Minuten als der Teller von unserem Sohn noch immer auf dem Tisch stand, sind wir aufgestanden, haben bezahlt und sind gegangen! Sehr schade, Trinkgeld gabs keinen!
