Sufficient selection, free and extensive choice of side dishes, all around very good and tasty food, rather large dishes, very good large side salad, higher price justified, nice atmosphere, very nice, attentive and professional service, everything very clean, prices typical of the area, cheap not cheap , high price-performance, every cent is worth the money. Absolutely nothing to complain about. We'll be back.

We were there on Thursday. A very nice cozy restaurant. Very attentive service and people sometimes ask if everything is OK, which almost doesn't happen these days. We were very happy with everything...very tasty food and great ambience. THANK YOU, SEE YOU SOON

Was greeted several times in an unfriendly and unprofessional manner. 7:30 p.m. first sentence of the greeting "But you can't order food anymore" even though the restaurant is open until 10 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Friday evening "We've already taken in the last round of drinks, we're not serving anything anymore" despite the restaurant being full . Apparently Maykels has already earned too much...

Food was very good. Had roast beef with salad, and Kaiserschmarrn as a bedside table 😋. My husband's steak (medium) was a little too bloody, not that bad for me, that can happen. Service was top 👍 👍. There are only 4 stars for the ambience because it is unfortunately very narrow and the tables are too small. We'll come back next week anyway and look forward to the good food.

Chicken is from the freezer, tastes like molded meat.

The restaurant is simply beautifully classic. Cozy and pleasantly lit. The food was a real dream. The chef definitely still knows his craft and prepares the food with a lot of love.

Very good restaurant! Here you get generous portions for an unbeatable price. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. And of course it was delicious too. A reservation is recommended as the restaurant is usually busy. I can definitely recommend a visit. We will be back definitely.

I grew up in the area and just love coming here. The food is great, the service is always nice and the prices are affordable. I like the steaks best, be it chicken, rump or pork steak - the kitchen knows what it's doing. As a tip for a warm, sweet dessert: one of the hot chocolates on the back of the menu ;)

The ambience and the food were a delight. The red cabbage was a revelation. It tasted like my grandma and mom made a long time ago. The venison goulash and the dumplings were also very, very good.

We were in Schmalkalden at Easter. I had the feeling that there was lockdown again in the old town. I also didn't find the city itself particularly beautiful, but it's definitely worth considering for hikers and cyclists (Werra cycle path). MAYKEL'S was a little highlight. Very tasty food 😋 and very good service. In some places the tables could be a little further apart...

Solid traditional offering and friendly climate

We had dinner at Maykel's as part of a vacation. This restaurant was chosen because it also offers vegan options. The food tasted very good (we had various burgers and a steak). The service thawed out after a short time and then did a great job. Unfortunately, we had a table in the middle and therefore hardly any distance from the neighboring table. The tiny and too deep divider between the tables offered little protection, so that you sat almost closer to the stranger at the next table than to your own table neighbor. Stars deducted for the ambience. If necessary, you can still get something out of it. The rest was great :)

We always enjoy going to Maykel's and were recently able to hold a large family and professional celebration there with great response from everyone involved at both celebrations. Hier wird man sehr freundlich bedient. Das Ambiente ist toll. Die Burger sind ihr Geld wert. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Das Essen war sehr gut, die Auswahl gelungen und der Service sehr nett. Bei Fleisch bitte auf den richtigen Garrgrad achten ! Das Ambiente sehr gemütlich.

Das Essen ist qualitativ wirklich sehr hochwertig, super lecker und gut zubereitet. Alles ging schnell, nach 30 Min. hatten wir (8 Pers.) unser Essen, die Getränke waren nach 5 Min. am Tisch. Das Servicepersonal ist sehr höflich, zuvorkommend und aufmerksam. Sonderwünsche werden ohne Weiteres freundlich umgesetzt. Ganz klare Weiterempfehlung.

Nach vielen Jahren & einigen Besuchen eine objektive Bewertung. Service ist gut und von einer jungen Mannschaft geprägt mit Luft nach oben. Ambiente ist sehr in die Jahre gekommen, erinnert an einen "Nach dt. Einheit Look und wurde hier wahrscheinlich auch das letzte Mal grundlegend modernisiert. Hier fehlt es an Frischen Wind und modernen Flair. Das Essen ist gut mit Luft nach oben. Weiter so, der Weg stimmt Für Schmalkalden eine echte Institution.

Eigentlich 4 Sterne, aber die Preise sind viel viel zu hoch

Sehr gutes Essen und immer eine nette Bedienung. Das Ambiente ist etwas davon abhängig, wo man platziert wird. Doch auch wenn man im Eingangsbereich sitzt, sitzt man gut. Es gibt aber bessere Plätze. Doch sowas wird von essen und Service wieder gut gemacht und man kann hier überragende Abende verbringen. Einer unserer Lieblingsplätze in Schmalkalden. Immer solide und eine absolute Empfehlung!

Super nette Bedienung Lecker Essen

Das Servicepersonal war von Anfang an super nett. Gefreut hat uns ebenfalls der leckere Gruß aus der Küche. 1 Stern Abzug, für den etwas hohen Preis für einzelne Beilagen und weil meine Bratkartoffeln mir etwas zu blass waren, der Rest hat aber sehr gut geschmeckt. Der Preis ist natürlich auch wie immer Ansichtssache 😉

Sehr schönes Lokal, gibt hier Flammkuchen, und auch Whiskey, Gin und Rum zu verkosten. Schöne Lage in der Innenstadt. Tipp: die halbfeste, sehr feine Schokolade probieren, wenn noch Platz ist nach Vorspeise und Hauptgang ;) Beim nächsten Besuch der Stadt wieder fest eingeplant.

Wir haben ganz lecker gegessen und was ich besonders hervorheben muss, war heute unsere Bedienung, die war sowas von nett und wir haben herzlichst miteinander gelacht. Sowas hat man nicht oft. Vielen Dank dafür !

Das Lokal ist gemütlich-urig, die Bedienung nett und aufmerksam. Der Chili-Burger war leider echt schlecht. Ich weiß nicht, was das für ein Hackfleisch war, aber entweder es war deutlich zu alt oder mit irgendetwas tranigem vermengt. Jedenfalls war es kein frisches Rinderhack. Ich habe dann stattdessen die recht ordentlichen Pommes gegessen.

Super leckeres Essen und sehr freundliches Personal. Es war am Feiertag nach dem Wochenende zwar nicht mehr alles verfügbar was auf der Karte stand, aber wir hatten trotzdem noch genug Auswahl. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt! Würden wir in der Nähe wohnen, hätten wir jetzt ein neues Stammlokal 😀... So müssen wir an den Erinnerungen zehren 🙃
