Maximiliansburg in Nürnberg

Unfortunately, another disappointment. We last ordered from them via Lieferando three years ago; even then, the delivery time was over an hour, and the food arrived lukewarm. Since the food was quite good and everyone deserves a second chance, we tried again today; the delivery distance has also become much shorter since our move to Johannis. 1. Before ordering, the estimated delivery time was 20-40 minutes. 2. After ordering and paying, this increased to almost 90 minutes. 3. We immediately called the restaurant to cancel the order but were referred back to Lieferando, and from there back to the restaurant… 4. Finally, the helpful woman at the restaurant assured us that the times quoted by Lieferando were too long and that they could deliver within half an hour; we trusted her! 5. After 40 minutes, the food still hadn't arrived. We called again and were told, "The driver is on his way and will be here in a few minutes." 6. After another 15 minutes, we called again and refused to accept the food in case it was now cold. 7. And unfortunately, that's exactly what happened: A good hour after ordering, the (very friendly and understanding!) driver arrived, to whom we had to return the cold food. To the owner: PLEASE DO NOT MAKE PROMISES YOU CAN'T KEEP IN THE FUTURE!!

As always, and this has been the case for a long time, the food here is truly delicious and exceptionally good. The prices are reasonable. Unfortunately, I no longer live nearby, but whenever I'm in Nuremberg and fancy Greek food, Maximiliansburg is still my first choice. The owners are very friendly. For example, the four of us ate here at Christmas 2025, and everyone was very satisfied with everything. We will definitely be back.

We went to the buffet here on Tuesday evening. It cost €23.90 per person. I have to say I was really surprised by the wide selection at the buffet. There was even calamari and scams. There was also a large selection of desserts. The food was delicious. The staff was very friendly. We were completely full. We'd gladly come again. Thank you.

We ordered food from there yesterday for our girls' night in. My chicken skewers and a friend's bifteki were raw inside, the rice was tasteless, and three of us suffered from the food all night. One of us, who ate gyros with rice, even vomited. So no, none of us will be ordering from there again.

Great team and beautiful ambiance – but the food was disappointing. I recently visited Maximiliansburg in Nuremberg because I was really craving Greek cuisine. To cut to the chase: it was a visit of two completely different sides. While you feel very welcome as a guest, the food unfortunately didn't live up to the atmosphere at all. Ambiance & Atmosphere This is definitely where the restaurant shines. Upon entering, the pleasant decor is immediately noticeable. It's cozy, the lighting is warm, and you don't feel as "overwhelmed" as in some other Greek restaurants that are overloaded with kitsch. The tables were neatly set, and the noise level was pleasant, allowing for easy conversation. The setting is absolutely perfect for a relaxing evening. Service There's nothing to complain about here either. We were greeted very warmly and shown to our table. The staff was attentive throughout the evening without being intrusive. The drinks arrived promptly, and any questions were answered politely. It's clear that the service team enjoys their work and makes an effort to ensure guests have a pleasant experience. A big compliment to the staff! Food & Drink As lovely as the evening began, the culinary experience was unfortunately quite disappointing. To be honest, the food was simply not worth mentioning and didn't meet the standards one would expect from a good Greek restaurant in Nuremberg. The appetizers were presented without care and were very bland. The tzatziki lacked the typical garlic kick and fresh cucumber flavor; it tasted more like a standard wholesale product. The main courses didn't redeem the experience either. The meat (both the gyros and the souvlaki) was unfortunately quite dry and barely seasoned. The typical Mediterranean herbs that make Greek food so delicious were missing. The side dishes also seemed to be going through the motions. Neither the rice nor the fries had any special flair. You'll get full, yes, but there's no enjoyment to be had. Everything was just very bland and interchangeable. Hygiene / Other One point that unfortunately stood out negatively and further marred the overall impression was the restroom. The facilities themselves were okay, but the fact that the soap dispenser was completely empty is unacceptable – especially in a restaurant. Washing your hands without soap is simply unhygienic, and something like that should really be noticed during the staff's regular checks. Conclusion It's a real shame. With its lovely ambiance and genuinely friendly service, Maximiliansburg has the potential to be a regular Greek restaurant. But as long as the kitchen is so weak and serves such unremarkable food, I unfortunately cannot recommend the restaurant. If you just want to have a drink and sit in a pleasant atmosphere, this is a good place – but if you want a good meal, you should probably look elsewhere.

It was very empty (which says a lot about a restaurant around dinnertime). I was still finishing my starter, and then the main course was simply brought out. As a result, it got cold. The waitress didn't even check on me during the meal; she seemed to prefer chatting with colleagues or something. I had to ask for some extra sauce myself. The meat was flavorless, underseasoned in my opinion, and also medium rare.

I can highly recommend this taverna. A friendly welcome and a complimentary ouzo are standard, but the way it's done is crucial. I had the grilled pepperoni and the gyros with rice. The only slight drawbacks were the somewhat dry meat and the sweet dressing on the salad. Nevertheless, I give the meal 8.5/10 points. On top of that, the price is simply unbeatable. €6.90 for a huge pile of pepperoni and €10.50 for a portion of gyros with tzatziki, rice, and salad. I haven't found anything like that in a long time.

The buffet had a huge selection. The food was delicious and served hot. Everything was constantly being replenished quickly. The staff was friendly and efficient. A small suggestion: perhaps glass lids would be a good idea, as you don't have to open everything to see what's inside. Signs would also be helpful. The restaurant was quite full. Parking was unfortunately difficult, but you can find a spot if you look around.

If you're looking for cheap food that consistently tastes like old grease, this is the place for you. However, it's not recommended for people with a functioning sense of taste.

Yesterday I picked up a Greek meal for the first time; it was conveniently located on the way home. Unfortunately, it will also be the last time. The souvlaki was too dry, and the flax seeds weren't even removed from the meat. The taste, like the rice as a side dish, was completely overly spicy, with no other flavor. I've only ever had souvlaki at other Greek restaurants, of a different quality, better quality, without the typical pork aftertaste. The €10.50 special offer doesn't help either. Offering an ouzo with pickup—perhaps my expectations are too high. Unfortunately, not. A shame.

I was visiting Nuremberg and stopped in quite by chance. The food was very good, tasty, and plentiful. I highly recommend it. The building on the busy Maximilianstraße could almost be described as historic, and the dining room is rustically furnished. There's also a small beer garden facing the street. Overall, I was very satisfied and also appreciated the reasonable price for the plentiful food.

It hasn't been here for a while, but I'm pleasantly surprised. It's very tasty, reasonably priced, and the portions are generous. Keep up the good work 👍🍻

We ordered through Wolt. We've never had such bad Greek food; the fries were cold and soggy, not even salted. The baked gyro with Metaxa sauce had no taste of Greek at all, just greasy. The pork steak was okay, but also swimming in grease. Definitely not worth €40. The driver was very nice, though. Still, never again.

I "stumbled" upon the restaurant by chance because the traffic light was red. I immediately liked the ambiance. The menu, clearly visible outside, immediately made me decide to have dinner here. I haven't regretted it. A very friendly team, great value for money. I'll be happy to come back on my next stay in Nuremberg.

Wanted to order via Lieferando, but for an order total of over €40, they added €14.60 delivery? That's a joke. The food is very good and the portions are good, but the delivery costs are way too high. What a shame.

Ordered directly via the website. After 2 hours, I called to ask where the food was. According to the operator, that method of ordering isn't currently available. Only orders via Lieferando are possible. Regardless, the food was ordered by phone and delivered 25 minutes later. The schnitzel and fries were very good, but the gyros and souvlaki were underseasoned.

We ordered a fish platter through Lieferando. The scampi were broken. The shell wouldn't separate from the meat. Never again. 65 euros for the trash because we lost our appetite.

The restaurant is small but nice. It's well-furnished and has a lovely garden. The owners are very friendly and make you feel very welcome. We happened to be there when they were offering all-you-can-eat. We tried almost everything, and it was all delicious. The value for money was very good. We'd love to come back and look forward to it.

We ordered two pitas, and one of them had a hair and a piece of plastic in it. We threw the pitas away immediately. It was disgusting. A total waste of money.

Unfortunately I have to say that I had the impression that the food wasn't fresh. There were 6 people in the entire restaurant, which made me suspicious. The food came shortly after ordering. The tzatziki tasted old, unfortunately the meat did too and the salad was from the fridge (totally cold and not very flavorful). The fries were good. The waiter was attentive and friendly. I didn't like the atmosphere and I won't go there anymore. I can't understand the 4.7 stars out of > 500 reviews at all

This is the most disgusting restaurant I’ve ever been to!!! Why is it even operating because they serve very rotten food! We ordered for chicken and beef steak, the chicken had a stinky smell from even a mile away. Putting it on the table I immediately wanted to throw up. 🤮 we immediately paid and left! €50 wasted! Please if you are planning on eating here think about your stomach. Also to add bread was moulded and dry, szaki very sour and my husband just ate it. Terrible terrible!!! Gave it a star because I don’t know how to rate without a star

Food was delivered but it was so terribly bad... I've never eaten such bad Greek food. Salad consisted of a piece of feta and fat chunks of tomatoes. Who's going to choke that down?! The meat wasn't even cooked properly and didn't look like a gyro in the light. In my case the gyro was a little better done but still NOT ENJOYABLE!!! I've thought about ordering here from time to time over the last 5 years and the error started last night... €40 thrown in the trash, biggest disappointment in 4 years when ordering food. What kind of taste buds are represented in Nuremberg? With 4.5 stars, they are either bought or the people of Nuremberg have no idea what good food is. Then I'd rather stay in Fürth Zulu, Naples, Burgnern Friends, all top-class stores that deserve the reviews 1000%. What is this here? No idea but nothing I can recommend to anyone. Never!!!! So it ended up in the trash can, you can see that the description is clearly correct

A very nice evening. Super nice service, special requests are responded to immediately and charmingly. The food came quickly and was extremely tasty. 5/5 stars. All in all, a wonderful evening in a great and recommended restaurant. We'd love to come back

The food was OK. Serving dark bread instead of white bread with the starters is an interesting idea, but I still think white bread is more suitable. Unfortunately there were several long hairs in the food, that's a no-go, a shame.

I can't comment on the food on site, only delivery. We ordered food for over €60, it arrived early and warm. However, the quality left something to be desired. The fries were still OK, hence 1 star. My gyros pita was a disaster, a single mushy mass... inedible, old tomatoes, some of the meat was still raw. It's a shame, I had to throw it away completely. Won't order again.

We were here with 7 people and ate our way through the buffet on a Tuesday. All dishes were really surprisingly well seasoned and were in no way inferior to a plate meal. There was a nice selection and it was always refilled. The price for the buffet was very fair and we sat outside for a long time. Of course it's a bit noisy because it's close to the main street, but the friendly service and good food make up for it.

I had dinner there late in the evening and was glad that there wasn't anything warm after a long and tiring day. The service was friendly, the food was very tasty and quickly prepared, even if a lot of it was delivered (the kitchen was busy) Gladly again.

We always order online for delivery. The delivery is flawless and very friendly. Quality is exceptionally good, the food is delivered hot, salads are pleasantly cool. Price-performance ratio completely appropriate. We had wanted to stop by on site several times, but after the umpteenth round of searching for a parking space, we no longer felt like it. My absolute favorite when it comes to Greek food. Delivery is always on time and the food is always hot. The photo shows the Athens plate, which unfortunately cannot be selected, but is my favorite and my wife's favorite, the fish plate.

On Tuesday there is Greek all you can eat for €23.90. Selection and quality is good. Service is quick and clear, there are nicer Greek places but it is clean and modern.

Tuesday buffet day: The buffet is excellent in terms of the diverse offerings and quality. It will probably take several visits to try all the delicacies. Everything I managed to try was very, very tasty. It's hard to stop and you don't just try once. Many thanks to the whole team for the culinary experience, Greece at home.

I have already ordered food to be delivered there several times. The portions are always larger than average and very tasty. It's one of the few remaining noble Greeks.... which unfortunately you can also feel in the price. - but the few euros more are definitely worth it. (The only shame is the high minimum order value for deliveries of €37) ...

I had dinner today and I had the village plate and chicken souvlaki and when I got home I had a bad stomach ache and I completely threw up 🤮 I paid 48€ for it 😭

Best Greek ever! Very tasty food for years. Both in the restaurant and to take away/order. I have known this restaurant since time immemorial and you can always rely on the quality. As I said, the portions are very tasty and large. I can actually recommend all the dishes, from schnitzel to gyros and calamari. The starters are also very tasty. We only had good experiences with deliveries, although in a restaurant it is of course nicer if you get everything on your plate. So, a clear recommendation from me and thank you for the good food for many, many years.

There is a Greek buffet here. I think it's really good. The service is super friendly. The only thing that could be improved would be the labeling of the food. Unfortunately you always had to open all the lids to see what was inside. definitely come again. oh yes... you have to be patient when finding a parking space. If possible, come by public transport.

Was there for the first time today. Everything great. You receive a very friendly welcome and the drink was served very quickly. The food is plentiful and almost too much. Had starter and main course. Every now and then you are asked whether everything is satisfactory. Simply great, I will eat here more often 😃

Food like any Greek, food was good. Unfortunately there was no enjoyment. I've been a guest since 1990... At some point it's time to say goodbye. Parking spaces are rare. Easy to reach by subway.

komme schon seit ich ein kind war mit der familie her, das ambiente hat sich mit der zeit verändert zum modernen hin aber das essen ist weiterhin sehr gute qualität und dauert nicht lange :)

Das Essen war schon mal wesentlich besser.

Das erste Mal, dass ich online bei euch bestellt habe. Das Essen ist mega lecker Wir haben Gyros in Pita und Dorf-Teller bestellt das Fleisch war köstlich und Salat frisch gemacht. Knusprige Pommes und perfekt gesalzen. In der App von Liferando stand, dass das Essen in 55 Minuten kommt, aber das Essen war in 20 Minuten da. Der junge Mann war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Ich kann nur empfehlen, bei ihnen zu bestellen, wenn man Lust auf griechisches Essen hat. PS. Wir werden auch in Zukunft die Restaurant Besuchen :(

Ausgezeichnet gegessen das Buffet ist es phänomenal

Alles wieder beim alten. Jetzt ist wieder die Chefin und der nette Herr "Cheffe" da und alles ist wieder beim alten. Nette Leute, super leckeres Essen und tolle entspannte und familiäre Stimmung. Der "Kellner" der im Sommer keinen guten Eindruck hinterlassen hatte ist nicht mehr dort! Also können beruhigt und mit Freude wieder alle Stammkunden der Maximiliansburg gerne zum essen dort hin kommen! Wir kommen nun mit unserer Tochter gerne wieder , sind ja auch schon seit fast 10 Jahren dort Stammkunden, und können wieder leckeres und vom Preis-Leistungsverhältnis gut zu empfehlendes Essen und wieder das gewohnte sehr freundliche Personal empfehlen.

Dank der Renovierung ein wirklich angenehmer und zeitgemäßes Lokal. Der Service ist aufmerksam und freundlich. Das Essen schwankt zwischen gut bis sehr gut und jegliche Wünsche werden berücksichtigt. Auf jeden Fall einen Besuch wert!

Wir waren alle vier sehr positiv überrascht. Ich hatte einen Grillteller mit Lamm, Suflaki, Gyros und Reis. Vorab gab es einen leckeren Salatteller. Besonders gut fand ich die Qualität des Fleisches. Keine Sehnen oder zähes Fleisch, wie ich es von anderen Griechen kenne. Wir werden beim nächsten Nürnbergbesuch gern wiederkommen!
