25 euros 18 for food, large portions

I come from the "old" days of long-distance driving and am glad I only have to travel once a quarter these days. That's how I ended up at the Maxi service station in Ellwangen yesterday. Everything was actually very clean and well-maintained, and the staff were very friendly, but: I arrived at 9:25 p.m., had to pay €25! and only received an €18! voucher for food. A decent meal was out of the question at that hour. So, I went to the toilet, which cost another €1, and then went to bed, thinking I could at least get a good breakfast with the voucher. But even that wasn't possible. They only serve the "usual" gas station breakfast from the counter: coffee and pre-made croissants or sausage rolls. So, I left with two cups of coffee and two croissants. Around €12 worth of food (which is already ridiculously expensive), €13 for parking, plus €2 for the toilet. Now I know I won't be stopping there again. Thanks for nothing, Maxi service station.

It's incomprehensible why restaurant patrons have to pay to use the toilets.

The restaurant at the MAXI rest stop in Ellwangen surprises with a significantly higher quality than one would expect at a service station. The selection ranges from hearty German classics like schnitzel and bratwurst to fresh salads and homemade soups. The portions are generous, the food arrives quickly and tastes excellent – ​​the Wiener Schnitzel and the daily specials are particularly recommended. Be careful with parking fees at the booth at the entrance. They don't issue receipts. After reporting the issue at the ticket office, they refused to issue a receipt.

Nice car park with a large parking lot. At 8:30 PM, there are plenty of free spaces. You can pay DKV 25 💶. 18 euros are returned to the restaurant. The menu is very rich in choice of dishes. Free toilet for drivers. At the entrance to the parking area there is a nice man who will wish you a good evening and help you find a free space. The staff is friendly. 2 hours free, although you can stand longer as there is no barrier at the entrance and exit.

Smokers are not discriminated against!👍 They have the opportunity to have a coffee, possibly eat in the restaurant if they want, not somewhere in any shack

Today (02.02.2025) I visited the restaurant on this motorhome. I ordered one of the most expensive dishes, hoping to enjoy the food. Unfortunately, my hopes were in vain. If it weren't for the salad and beer 🍻, I would have been hungry.

People with a 10, you rarely find a car park without complaints, but here you don't really find reasons unless you are too picky. (we are talking about us drivers).

I ordered fried chicken with potato dumplings and sauce from the October menu, and my husband ordered half a chicken with fries. The fried chicken was okay, but not homemade. The potato dumplings suddenly became bread dumplings, and the insides were frozen, and the sauce was too salty. I complained and didn't have to pay for my meal. The half chicken was reheated because the chicken grill wasn't working, and the portion of fries was meager. It really wasn't great. The service was friendly and attentive.

You can spend 18€ in a restaurant from 11:00 to 21:00. And if you arrived later and left earlier, then enjoy sandwiches at the gas station.

The auto hub is good, and there's a cool shopping center nearby. The food is also good, and the staff is polite. The guy at the checkout might shortchange you a bit, though, so keep your eyes peeled. The restroom is in the doorway slightly to the left of the entrance. The store exit is across a small bridge over the road.

I spent the night at this truck stop with my truck. The parking ticket was €25, including an €18 food voucher. Of course, I don't expect Michelin-starred cuisine at a truck stop, but it was decent and reasonably priced. They also offer vegan and vegetarian dishes. There's a dedicated restroom area for truck drivers, plus laundry facilities, showers, and a washing machine and dryer in the basement. The service was very friendly.

The food was excellent, with flexible menu selections. During school holidays, children can get a free children's plate when ordering a main course. We'll stop here again on our next trip.

I really liked the car park, toilets are free, showers are €3.50. €25 for 24 hours, of which €18 is for the restaurant, etc. The parking lot is clean, spacious, there was enough space. A little more than a kilometer to Kaufland. I recommend one of the best car parks I have ever been to.

Large parking lot, there was room for the whole weekend. 3 days without any problems or crowds or noise. The food in the restaurant is commendable, the toilets are clean, the shower is 3.5e, the washing machine and dryer work (4e+4e). Next to it you have McDonalds and a pizzeria, the town is nearby and there is a shop 1.5km walk away.

So, I'm satisfied. Friendly service. Currently, there's a special offer where children get a free children's menu for every adult order. We also had a senior menu, and the price/performance ratio was right. The taste was great, the portions were large, but they weren't enough. I can only say that if I'm in the area again, I'll eat here again. In conclusion, all I can say is that everything was good.

At 11:00 a.m., everything is closed. Burger King is closed, and the coffee bar is closed. No one is served at the counter in the gas station. When asked if they have any buttered pretzels left, she doesn't feel like making them.

Due to the staff in any case only with the kitchen I am not convinced I had ordered Berliner Leber as medium and got it through the waiter then took it off the bill which I think is great so I say be careful with certain dishes

Autohof has seen a little bit of life, but I personally like it here very much. Lots of places to go for a walk, toilets, washing machines and dryers. Huge selection of food and it's very tasty.

July 20, 2025 8:20 PM I've been there several times to buy something. Something always happens, and they don't want customers. Today was particularly bad. If you ask a question, instead of answering politely, you're treated like a bum. I don't need answers like "What should I give you?" (Even though I made a reservation and the item was supposed to be ready by 7:00 PM) or "I have a request too." A simple "Unfortunately, it's not possible" or simply "It's not possible" works for others, too.

Parking spaces are full because they are very expensive!

In my opinion, that's an absolute disgrace... I will definitely not support people like that who rip off truck drivers' money, so that's the reward they get for working hard every day...

I was only there to fill up the tank, but I thought I was going into a liquor store with all the shelves full of alcohol. I thought that was a bit excessive considering it's a gas station for drivers.

When paying our gas bills, we customers were completely ignored in favor of counting the cash. I find that rude, and you shouldn't leave customers standing there looking stupid, wondering. The rolls and pretzels were delicious, though.

We went to the Maxi Restaurant and were absolutely thrilled! The price/performance ratio was simply amazing, everyone had to struggle with the quantity, and the taste was amazing! I have no idea why so many people still go to the Burger King or McDonald's next door!

Food ok showers toilets ok But today party of German carriers music horns 3/4 of the parking lot closed. You pay 25€ and you won't rest no chance. (at the exit or at the entrance to the parking lot zero information about this whole "festival")

My favorite place to take a break. Everything is there, shop, restaurant, bar, etc. I highly recommend it.

We stopped there on the way back and had dinner. The food was very good (cheese spaetzle and a salad with chicken strips) and very good value for money. The service was excellent.

The food was good as always: beef liver, mashed potatoes, and fried eggs. I ate the same thing here three weeks ago, only today there was over half as much mashed potato on the plate. There was also less liver, and it was the same price as three weeks ago: €16.20. The staff are okay, it's not their fault, but the gentlemen in charge of this chain should be ashamed of theirselves; they're getting more and more cheeky and brazen. Unfortunately, I won't be coming here anymore. I'd rather go to Feuchtwangen or Wörnitz.

June 10, 2025: Truck stop reopened as a Maxi. The restrooms for truck drivers are terrible, probably haven't been renovated since the last Maxi tenant. Yellow tiles (originally white), cracked/broken sinks, broken toilet seat, poor cleanliness, especially in the late evening hours (around 8 p.m. for me). And all this for €25, minus €18 for food. And the ventilation system in the showers should be running, not just by gravity, which is a recipe for mold growth.

Excellent parking for a shooting range, friendly staff, DKV card accepted. Lots of spaces. Toilet free, clean. Shops nearby. Restaurant is cozy.

2 hours free, 25/18 euros per day. Free toilet opposite the cargo columns, down in the basement there is a washer and dryer, showers and sinks. There are plenty of shops, be sure to visit Action, lots of useful things for long-distance driving.

As of January 19, 2025, parking is 25 euros. 18 euros for food. It’s better not to buy beer on tap in glasses, the remaining foam can sit for 30 minutes or longer waiting for your client and then they will pour this foam into your glass after it has settled. And there was a moment when the bartender poured something transparent it looked like half a glass of water and half a glass of beer and she took it to the table, I still didn’t understand what it was. I was shocked when I saw this. It’s a pity that I didn’t think of making a video earlier, they already brought my order. There’s a photo at the bottom, but basically everything is fine. You can order beer in a bottle and have it poured into your glass in front of you.
