Masala Indian Food in Leipzig

Since you don't always want to eat fast food while traveling, this Indian restaurant seemed like a suitable alternative. I ordered something from the menu, and I could choose the spiciness level. All in all, the food was excellent and it was a good decision. The train station atmosphere and the stressed-out travelers have a negative impact on the ambiance.

ordered from the menu, told them its for kids but they still made it very spicy. also wondering what they do with all the food that's not sold each day, serve it again the next day? at the end of the day, huge amount of unsold food was left, probably would be served again next day. never again.

This is a great Indian restaurant for a quick bite in the hbf. They offer a wide variety of curries and rice dishes at reasonable prices. I tried the samosas, and they were very tasty. They also serve a few chutneys, and the service was friendly.

Healthy and delicious food, plenty of vegetarian options, and very quick service. Exactly what you usually look for in vain at the train station.

It used to be very good. Now, unfortunately, it's just a touch below mediocre. Frozen vegetables with ready-made sauce, and if you're unlucky, the vegan dishes also come with pieces of soy meat substitute (those sponge-like chunks). The highlight was the rice. It was quite good. For that, I find €10.50 (supposedly a large plate. I call that a breakfast plate) quite steep. Samosas and pakoras would have cost extra. Otherwise, the staff had a strangely depressed mood. The usher pushed my tray around because I wasn't too keen on him eating troughs of nutritious treats and he was worried about cleaning. That's legitimate, but you can also talk to the people. Otherwise, there are lots of self-made signs, TVs that aren't turned on or no longer work, and a very messy seating area. The tables are sticky, so you don't really want to lean on them.

We haven't been there in a long time. But whenever we were in Leipzig by train, we ate at Masala. The food was always delicious and typically Indian. Now we were back after about a year and a half. The chef must have changed. The food was inedible. It was so salty that you couldn't taste any of the typical Indian spices. What a shame! The staff, however, were very nice and accommodating. Thank you for that!

Food felt very fresh. I went after 17:00 and not much veggies left at that time. But the food is really good here. For a small plate it’s very reasonable price and completely satisfying.

Superbly seasoned food, self-service, three plate sizes: €7.90, €10.50, and €13.50, and a superb drink, the "Mango Lassi" (see photos). Highly recommended for a healthy diet.

Delicious food at Leipzig Central Station. The quality is very good and the staff very attentive. The background noise shouldn't be surprising at a main station, and we like to eat there when we have time at the station.

A great option for healthy food right at the main train station. The buffet is a fair price, and the food tastes really good. You'll be really full and can still choose what you want from a good selection. Highly recommended for anyone who has to wait a bit at the main train station and wants something healthy to eat.

After ordering the buffet, we were told that almost everything on the buffet had to be paid for separately. The old man with the glasses was rude. They threatened me with legal action if I wrote a negative review.

Delicious food always freshly prepared, friendly service and top cleanliness. Whenever I have an appetite for Indian food, this has been my first port of call for years, especially Chicken Palak is my favorite.

The food taste was not great at all. And the serving portions were small. And prices are pretty high too. Kindly think before visiting.

The owner was an extremely rude and frankly a foolish person. He refused to let us (2 people) sit in the restaurant and share a take away. His opinion - sharing is not allowed inside the restaurant. How does that make any sense .. when I have a take away and cannot take additional servings (which you cannot even in dine in) then how does 2 people sharing a plate become an issue. The waiting staff was pretty polite but as confused as us about the owners mindset. If that's how they treat customers then I wonder how they cut costs and hygiene standards in the kitchen.

Always a pleasure to stop by , im a regular traveller on that railway station and Masala is basically always open , even on sun-and holidays , offering really damn tasty food for rather cheap. The selection is great , they're mindful of not everyone being able to handle spicy so they offer softer options or immediately adjust the spice level if you ask. Vegetarians get more than enough options to choose from too, and there's tasty vegan dishes as well. Store is small, and sometimes a bit crowded, but that is only natural due to the location, and they still manage to provide nice seating in a somewhat secluded atmosphere, its pretty comfy for a central station dinner . Hygiene is top notch, everything's crisp and clean here . Staff is really chill. Overall a really solid store , great to catch your breath (and really tasty dinner) between train change or while waiting for your ride , can absolutely recommend

We chose this restaurant based on the reviews. Staff was nice, ambience, okay for the train station. The food was okay, but had no taste of Indian cuisine if you know it. Therefore, if you really want to eat Indian food with the traditional flair, then not here in the train station.

I got L plate, I must say they reduce the quality and plates were not suitable for the food that’s why I wasn’t satisfied. One year ago they used to have all you can eat but now not anymore. I wouldn’t prefer this place again.

If you're looking for an Indian snack bar that only offers a pepper shaker for seasoning, you've come to the right place.

I had ordered Paneer Butter Masala and had requested them to customise the spice levels. They were happy to do it. The food was good. The restaurant is in Leipzig Hauptbahnhof (passage/food court) and so it is convenient.

The food was super tasty and inexpensive. You could sit comfortably and the selection at the buffet was completely sufficient. There wasn't anything there that I didn't like. I can only recommend it for a delicious, quick meal ☺️

The vegetables offered could be fresher. I had to eat stale food yesterday. It's just not that cool, it used to be better 3 years ago. More comfort with other chairs and tables (table decorations are missing) would also be an option so that more customers eat on site.

We were really hungry for Indian food and wanted to take our time. We wanted to eat a la menu. This was not possible. In order not to be rude, we helped ourselves to the buffet. The food had been sitting there for ages, the meat and poultry were far dry. Never again. We still had stomach pains, Who knows what kind of meal that was.

Update 02/2025 The operator must have changed. What was on display was not convincing. There are no spices and it was cold, which is because there is no heating or heatwave there. In general, sitting is not exactly inviting. Therefore still only 2 stars Sometimes it tastes good, sometimes it's too spicy. Unfortunately, the gentleman at the entrance seems a bit pushy. But overall nice. Unfortunately, you can only get Nan bread at an additional price upon request. Something like that should be there because the rice didn't score points for me. Some dishes are very spicy even though there was nothing on them or are greasy. Unfortunately, it happened several times that people were cheated on their change, which unfortunately only became apparent much later... (food was charged twice)...

You can get really good Indian food right in the train station. We ordered from the menu and received our drinks – especially the mango juice was great – and our food quickly. Everything was beautifully prepared and tasted really good. The staff was really friendly, and even though the restaurant is in the train station, the atmosphere was pleasant.

Nauseous after meal. I felt while eating that it wasn't very fresh, yet I didn't take the buffet (which is simply ridiculous) but a la carte. I didn't finish the Lassi, black spots appeared at the bottom and the taste was not there at all. The worst Indian I could do in Germany. I find myself finishing my long day nauseous. For those who are used to Indian cuisine, this is not Indian cuisine at all. It's borderline tasteless! First and last time, go your way there are other Indians if that's what you're looking for and if you're in a hurry there are other restaurants in the same corridor.

our experience was pathetic: not an Indian food, totally inedible, greedy, abusive and argumentative kind of staff. 1. Worst smelling and use of too much food colors Chicken was smelling old and bad and after complaining to the waiter he was highly arrogant, rude, argumentative and quarrelsome 2. This is not at all an authentic Indian food. 3. Food quality and taste were pathetic and waiters were arrogant, highly unprofessional and too bad Avoid at all cost to protect your stomach health that's what we have learned in a hard way.

One of the worst restaurants in the region. Just looting people's money by selling pretty bad food. Also i believe they dont know actually the concept of buffet. Please try to avoid this as much as possible. For the people who have never tried indian food. Dont waste your money here. There are much better places.

Very tasty indian Buffet food. Pay a plate (small, large and extra large) and fill it up as you like. Vegetarian menu are available. Most tasty is the chili sauce. For children there are menu that not spicy.

Das Verhalten des indischen Mitarbeiters ist nicht nur respektlos. Es ist herabwürdigend der Kundin gegenüber. Zu alledem ist er physisch handgreiflich geworden. So was sollte es auf dem schönsten Bahnhof Deutschlands, worauf wir Leipziger stolz sind, nicht geben. Dieser Mitarbeiter ist definitv dort fehl am Platz.

Cuando esté dentro, explíquele lo que está y no está disponible y ofrézcale una selección de platos pequeños o grandes. Elegimos grande después de no comer ese día y nos dijeron que nos permitieron una visita al buffet y una sola. El plato grande contenía suficiente comida para alimentar a un gorrión anoréxico, que casualmente, es como se veían los 'trozos' de pollo. Cada trozo de carne era hueso, cada uno. Picos, garras, todo estaba ahí. Una comida horrible.

I had a meal from the menu and not the buffet... It was delicious... Plenty. Staff was nice. It is and remains a train station snack bar. But one where you can go if you have a few more minutes and you want to eat something else and want to sit while eating.

I often go to Masala Indian Food and I've always found it really tasty! The portions are a reasonable size and as a vegetarian you can find tasty meals to suit you up for a long journey! Above all, the employees are always nice!

We had spent a wonderful day at the Leipzig Zoo and since we arrived by train, we were looking for a way to have a good and quick dinner. This worked perfectly with “Masala Indian Food on Railway Station”. We (2 adults with 2 children) first ate from the buffet - 2 medium plates €9.90 each. This was great because you could load the plates as full as you wanted and eat your way through the entire buffet. So there was something for everyone. It tasted so good that we took two more dishes from the menu (32 chicken korma and 61 chicken biryani) and another portion from the buffet. In short: delicious, fresh food at a fair price-performance ratio and nice staff! We'll be happy to come back next time you visit Leipzig!
