Indian Palace in Leipzig

Went there after looking for somewhere to have lunch in town. The restaurant was completely empty. Extinct. The food was very poor and the service was rather annoyed with us. It wasn't a nice experience.

I don’t understand why the ratings for this restaurant are sometimes so low. We had great food, superb service and the atmosphere inside was great. I would definitely come again next time I’m in town! Oh, and when it describes the dish as spicy- they mean it unlike a lot of other Indian restaurants. Enjoy!

We had the business lunch at 4 p.m. Friendly and attentive service, very tasty food. From my point of view, a clear recommendation.

I have never experienced such a rude and cheeky waitress anywhere! Even the most basic things like "Hello" are unknown to the waitress. Feels like she's wearing an invisible crown. You feel guilty from the first sight of walking in. When we were seated, I asked If there is a socket somewhere so you can charge your cell phone. She took my cell phone and brought it to the front. When I said goodbye at the end and wanted my cell phone back, she asked for 2 euros, but I gave it to someone else when I left Employee approached. He called them. I said that firstly, if the money is funded for something like this, you should be informed in advance as it says that if you pay for the tualette without having eaten in the restaurant, this will be the case the door. Secondly, I asked where she put the money - in the cash register or in her pocket. I didn't get a receipt, nothing her to extend "tips" in this way. Besides, if it happens with the owner's knowledge, it's an impertinence to ask for money for something like that. Often the sockets are near the tables and it's no one's business that you charge your cell phone. Never stop!

I'm disappointed, once and never again. I had mostly rice on my plate and hardly any lamb. I wanted spicy food and got an extremely bland dish, far from what I'm used to in Indian restaurants. The price was also quite excessive for such a bit of food with little taste. The vegetables are also not fresh, just frozen.

Food was bland compared to what I’m used to for Indian in the US. But a German couple near me was commenting on how all Indian food is so terribly spice that they can barely eat it, so no suppose they have to go bland to meet their customers’ palates. Food here was nearly identical to the Indian place across the street, but cost a bit more—not sure why.

Very bad service, waited 50 minutes for food. I experienced it here for the first time. This was not the case on previous visits. A pity! Large selection of dishes and starters. Simple, outdated atmosphere. Food was ok, unfortunately the young service was very unfriendly.

Had vindaloo and naan. Vindaloo was very good. Could have been more sour, but still very good. However, the naan was terrible. Very chewy and not worth the price.

We are coming as a group of 6 people! In and instead of being greeted straight away, we are left waiting for 10 to 15 minutes in an empty restaurant. Instead, a white man who came after us is served and the card is immediately handed to him. One covered in the group and three that could be read Muslim. - Well, was that probably the case?... The waiter also looked over at us several times and checked us out. We sat right in the middle of the room on the aisle. If we hadn't asked for the tickets, we would probably still be sitting there today.

One hour wait for food. People who came after get their food before us. Food was okay and good. Spicy As I like. 🌶️👍 Price was 5,5€ for house wine and 21,90 for lamp vindaloo. It should cost much less by menu. After 45min they asked what I ordered again. 🫣 Never back there again!

Sehr gutes indisches Essen, beim Service ist noch Luft nach oben. Geschmacklich war es sehr gut gewürzt (ich war erst in Indien und empfand es fast gleichwertig) und schmackhaft. Scheinbar gibt es unter dem Servicepersonal einige Abstimmungsprobleme/Diskrepanzen, welche den Gästen auf der Außenterrasse nicht verborgen blieben.

At Indian Palace we ate two very tasty vegetarian main courses, along with delicious cheese naan and mango lassi. On Sunday afternoon the restaurant was quite empty, the service was excellent and a waiter was always nearby to take care of us. The price-performance ratio is very good here.

I was here for lunch on April 27th. The waiter was in such a bad mood, unfriendly and didn't even recognize me as a guest. Costs especially for rolls are on the higher side. Otherwise the food tasted good.

It was awful. We waited a very long time for our order. After a long time a man came and brought our food. I didn't hear what dish it was so I could tell him if it was for me or my husband and when I asked him again he became very aggressive. Then no one could bring the bill for 20 minutes and in the end we paid by card and were charged several euros more.

The food was good. Can definitely recommend if your looking for tasty Tandoori Chicken in the city centre. We had Chicken Malai Tikka & Murgh Angara with Garlic Naan and Rice.

The food was very tasty. However, the menu is almost overwhelming in its size and contains various errors. There was no really pleasant atmosphere. It was very loud and the air was bad at times because of the grill plates that came with some orders. The staff seemed listless and in a bad mood. Questions about the menu were met with incomprehension.

We came here spontaneously after a shopping trip. Even without pre-ordering, we got a table on Friday at 7 p.m. after a 15-minute wait. Service was very friendly. Our food was very tasty. Large restaurant with lots of guests, so there was some loud background noise, but it didn't bother us.

The restaurant is really great, you really can't say anything negative about the ambience or the food. What is unfortunately sour is the attitude of the staff. Unfortunately, you had the impression that you didn't feel like it and you really didn't feel welcome in that respect. It's a real shame because that's what a restaurant is all about for me. Everyone can have a bad day, but the service has to be good.

We had lunch here a month ago with six people. The food was very tasty and the ambience/room facilities were good. Also worth mentioning was the great entrance from the outside, the beautiful columns and lion statues really give you the impression of climbing the steps to an Indian palace. Since we had lunch, the prices were reasonable, but I would describe the other prices (evenings, weekends) as very high. The star deduction goes to the waiter who made a disgruntled and contemptuous expression when my mother wanted to have the (relatively small) rest of her meal packed up. I think that for the sake of the environment you shouldn't throw away food and that 'friendliness to your guests' should be the top priority. Apart from that, I have one clear recommendation: I would definitely like to come back for lunch!

Great appearance from the outside, centrally located. Mainstream taste, convenience products that lack any inspiration or craftsmanship. Unfortunately, it's simply not an Indian restaurant, more of an Indian look without any claim to presenting the culinary world. Chipped plates and unclean tables didn't make our visit any better. The service was holiday-worthy, at least when we visited shortly before Christmas in the half-empty restaurant.

Average food and ambiance, nothing groundbreaking. The “head” waiter is extremely arrogant and rude. It makes the whole experience pathetic. He curses in punjabi and says unpleasant things all the time (which Germans don’t understand, but I do and I can’t stand it).

Reichhaltige Speisekarte, typische indische Küche. Etwas auf den europäischen Gaumen abgemildert. Die Qualität der Speisen und das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis sind hervorragend.

Hm so lala. Schon weitaus besser bei Indern gegessen. Kein Gruss des Hauses, wie sonst üblich. Freundlichkeit lässt ebenfalls noch Luft nach oben.

Sehr gutes, schmackhaftes Essen. Aber ein Menü für 2 ist sehr reichhaltig. Dessen muss man sich bewusst sein oder den großen Hunger mitbringen. Bedienung sehr nett und flott. Und, was ich als sehr wichtig empfinde, man kann mit Karte zahlen, was bei vielen Restaurants in Leipzig nicht der Fall ist.

Essen leider ohne echten Geschmack, unterdurchschnittlich. Keine Beratung bei der Essensbestellung, Essen kam relativ spät erst nach 40min. Auf Toilette gab es keine Seife, auch nach Mitteilung und 1 Std später wurde nichts nachgefüllt. Positiv: Ambiente angenehm.

Die Sternchen sagen ja schon alles und das Essen schmeckt wunderbar.

Haben das Restaurant an einem Sonntag Abend besucht. Es war gut besucht. Das Essen war sehr lecker und in den Portionen mehr als ausreichend. Leider waren einige Glühbirnen der Lampen defekt.( nur eine Kleinigkeit, jedoch mindert es evtl. den Eindruck) Preislich für 2 Personen mit Vorspeise und Getränken knapp unter 60 Euro ist i.O.

I was initially skeptical after reading the reviews but i think the restaurant has taken due action. The place had a nice vibe, that is understood. But the staff is nice and kind to my kid, making sure to keep her entertained with mini candies. And the food was well prepared, not undercooked by any standard. I recommend the tandooris, esp the reshmi kabab. For me it was a 5/5.

Super Essen, super Service. Das kann ich nur empfehlen 👍👍👍 Aber beim Ambiente müsste mal was passieren z.B. offliegende Kabelkanäle und Sauberkeit könnte besser sein.

Grosse Auswahl an indischen Speisen die auch verhältnismäßig in Ordnung waren. Wir hätten uns etwas mehr vom Service gewünscht, weder wurden wir gefragt ob wir noch etwas zu trinken möchten noch ob wir zahlen möchten. Zum zahlen mussten wir zum Tresen laufen. Es wurde versucht das Restaurant zu dekorieren aber die riesige Fläche mit unzähligen Tischen ruiniert das Ambiente.

Die Speisen und der Service hervorragend. Für Vegetarier und Veganer sehr zu empfehlen

Das Personal war sofort zur Stelle als wir draussen platz genommen haben.Das Personal war auch nicht aufdringlich und hielt sich dezent im Hintergrund und kam sofort wenn man ein Anliegen hatte. Wir haben auch nicht lange auf unser Essen warten müssen. Es hat alles gut geschmeckt und die Portionen waren aussreichend.

Man fühlt sich wie in Indien..das Ambiente ist sehr einladend und man fühlt sich sofort wohl. Das essen ein Gaumenschmaus ,ich hatte Riesengarnelen mit Kokosnusssoße . Dazu Ingwer Saft mit frischen Ingwer Stückchen. Bin begeistert und werde im nächsten Jahr wieder essen. Allen anderen eine absolute Empfehlung. Lecker ...

Wir haben die Platte mit Vorspeisen bestellt, es kam eine Mischung von frittierten Sachen, mit einer Sauce in der Mitte auf einem Edelstahlteller wie in einem Imbiss. Ausser der Sauce war alles geschmacksneutral. Man konnte es eigentlich lassen. In einem geposteten Foto entspricht das nicht die Wahrheit. Die Hauptspeise war auch nicht besser. Keine speziellen Gewürze, sogar gar keine Gewürze. Sie sollten mal den Film "Madame Mallory und der Duft von Curry" schauen. Da besteht sehr hoher Nachholbedarf.

Lange nicht mehr so gut indisch gegessen!

As an indian i can say best indian restaurant in town we had a lovely dinner with good service with ambiance of real palace in indian tradition

Solides indisches Restaurant - ich wurde schnell bedient und freute mich über die Auswahl veganer Speisen. Mein Dal Masala war wirklich sehr großzügig portioniert, sodass ich mehr als satt wurde und den Rest mitnehmen konnte. Für meinen Geschmack hätten Reis und Masala ein bisschen kräftiger gewürzt sein dürfen, bzw. am Salat hätte etwas Dressing nicht geschadet. Das Tandoori Naan war frisch und sehr lecker!

Hatte nur ne kleine Tasse zu süßen und geschmacklosen Chai für 3,50€. Typischer Touri Inder würde ich vermuten.

Toller Eingang, sehenswert! Auch das Essen ist hervorragend. Auch das Personal ist sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder.☺️

Wir haben noch nie so schlecht indisch gegessen. Die Gerichte kaum gewürzt und preis leistungs Verhältnis nicht angemessen. Aus fern reisen wissen wir wie die indische oder Sri lankische Küche schmecken kann. Dieses Restaurant können wir nicht empfehlen. Einmal und nie wieder.

Indian Palace has very good variety of Indian cuisines. We have enjoyed food alot look like Indian deshi taste and it was very nice food with good price.

Last Sunday, I visited the Indian Palace restaurant. Here, I tried various types of dishes, and every dish was delicious and satisfying. I sampled daal makhani, kadai paneer, roti, and many more dishes. Although I don't remember all the dish names, each one was incredibly tasty. Indian Palace is the best restaurant in Leipzig, and I highly recommend everyone to visit and experience the flavorful food here.

Gewoon komisch hoe slecht was. Het eten is totaal smakeloos. Garnalen zat een raar luchtje aan en de bediening loopt openlijk te balen hoe druk ze het hebben. Het water en de naan waren wel goed. Eerlijk is eerlijk.

Mein Mann und ich waren nur auf der Durchreise auf einem kleinen Bummel in Leipzig. Wir haben das Indian Palace beim Vorbeischlendern entdeckt. Von außen sah es ganz gut aus mit dem imposanten Treppenaufgang. Das Ambiente ist zwar etwas veraltet und ungepflegt, trotzdem ganz gemütlich. Wir waren zeitlich etwas spät für Mittagessen, so dass außer uns nur noch ein weiterer Tisch besetzt war. Über Wartezeiten können wir uns also nicht beschweren. Kommen wir zum Wesentlichen…dem ESSEN. Ich kann mich nicht erinnern, in einem Restaurant je so ein liebloses und geschmackloses Essen serviert bekommen zu haben. Wir hatten beide das Mango Murgh. Optisch war es schon erschreckend. Ein weißer runder Kantinenteller, der lückenlos vollgeklatscht war mit Reis, einer gelben breiigen Masse mit großen Hähnchenfleischstücken und etwas, das wohl ein Salat sein sollte (eine Tomate, eine Gurkenscheibe und klein geschnittener Blattsalat mit einem Kleks Remoulade obendrauf als Dressing). Von Mangos, Zwiebeln oder irgendetwas anderem Frischem keine Spur in der Soße (meiner Meinung nach kam sie aus einem Tetrapack). Selbst der Reis wirkte billigst, trocken und körnig. Mein Mann meinte noch, das Hähnchen sei wohl zwei Mal gestorben, so trocken wie es war. Ich konnte es nicht aufessen. Uns beiden lag es danach schwer im Magen. Ein weiteres Mal wird uns das Indian Palace sicher nicht sehen.

Ambiente: Das Ambiente des Restaurants hatte schon was. Großer Speiseraum mit „landestypischer“ Einrichtung. Toll war der Ausblick durch die großen Fenster. Man konnte sich trotz der großen Anzahl an Gästen wohl fühlen. Leider musste man lange warten. Essen: Die Speisen waren gut abgeschmeckt und gewürzt. Wer auf Schärfe steht, findet hier das richtige. Das Hühnchen war schmackhaft. Wirklich lecker war die Kombination aus Butter-Naan und Sauce. Personal: Das Personal war nett. Leider musste man jeweils lange warten. Bis man bestellen konnte, bis die Getränke kamen, bis das Essen kam. Und dann vergaß man leider auch noch die Vorspeise. Also, etwas mehr Zeit einplanen. Preise: Für Leipziger Verhältnisse ein wenig hoch. Aber okay. Fazit: Wer einen langen Abend mit Freunden verbringen möchte, kann hier einen netten Laden finden. Wer schnell essen möchte, eher nicht.

Leider hat uns der Besuch von Anfang bis Ende total enttäuscht. Im Nachhinein hätten wir die besser die Bewertungen lesen sollen, bevor wir einen Tisch reserviert haben. Nachdem wir zügig die Karten erhalten haben, kam lange erstmal kein Kellner um wenigstens die Getränkebestellung aufzunehmen. Bei der Bestellung (ca. 20 Min Wartezeit) wurde uns dann mitgeteilt, dass es nicht möglich sei eine aus der Karte aufgeführte Vorspeise auszuwählen. Komischerweise wurden am Nebentisch Vorspeisen aufgetischt. Wir haben ca. 1 Stunde auf unser Essen gewartet und als dieses serviert wurde, war der Kellner total überfordert und hat die Speisen komplett falsch zugeordnet. Es musste erst der andere Kellner kommen, um das Durcheinander zu sortieren. Das Essen schmeckte zum Teil verbrannt und die Portionen waren für den Preis wirklich nicht auskömmlich. Leider können wir das Restaurant nicht weiterempfehlen.

A grand entrance up wide steps hides sub-standard Indian food. I’ve never been asked if I want my Naan bread as a starter. The Onion Bahjis were just Onion rings dipped in batter. I’ve never seen them done like this before. They are usually small mounds. The Murghi Jalfrezi (chicken) tasted so mild it could have been a Korma…usually the dish has chilli 🌶 in it and is pleasantly spicy.. none of that here. The chicken was a touch dry too. I complained/asked the waiter about Bahjis… in “English they are Inion Rings…” no they are not. When it came to paying it seemed as if he really wanted us to pay all together instead of separately. Was extra work… no idea. Anyway I won’t be visiting or recommending this restaurant again. Not cheap and sub standard Indian food as I know it. Worst ever Jalfrezi. There are other in Leipzig that I may try. Two tablecloths on the table… one was the wrong way up. Only plus was the candle warmers for the dishes.

Maden var meget middelmådig, mens betjening ikke kan beskrive på andre måder end frygtelig. Alt i alt en dyr og meget skuffende oplevelse.

Het begon al goed, het glas prosecco van mijn vriendin had nog de lipafdrukken van een vorige klant. Nu goed, na de nodige excuses kwam er toch een proper glas terug. Goed 10 minuten na onze bestelling kwamen de bestelde curry’s op tafel, mooie maar zakelijke presentatie maar die overtrof vele malen de kwaliteit van de gerechten. Denk middelmaat, volkomen gebrek aan voldoende kruiding en een vlakheid die ervoor zorgde dat je na drie happen genoeg had. Soms kan non offensive ook zo non offensive worden dat het eigenlijk simpelweg een belediging wordt voor alles waar de Indische keuken voor moet staan. Toerist trap van het zuiverste water en absoluut te mijden!

Zuerst habe ich mir ein Bier bestellt, bekam ein warmes Bier. Nach der langen Wartezeit auf das Essen hab ich mir ein zweites Bier bestellt welches lauwarm gebracht wurde. Darauf hin habe ich gemeckert. Man sagte mir dass das Bier bis zum Zapfhahn gekühlt sei und die Erwärmung durch den Gang über die Treppe von oben nach unten bei den Temperaturen nicht zu vermeiden sei. Fazit: Ich war am späten Nachmittag der einzige Gast, der gezapftes Bier trank... . Immerhin nahm man mein zweites Bier zurück und bot mir eine Flasche Bier (Temperatur einigermaßen) an. Das Essen macht satt, ist aber total langweilig. Hätte ich doch mal vorab die Kundenrezessionen gelesen. Sehr bedauerlich: Service, Essen und Getränke sind unterirdisch. Keine Entschuldigung oder ein Entgegenkommen.

We went there because the menue sounded intriguing and the interior is welcoming. But, unfortunately we've been ignored for at least 15 minutes, had to ask for the menue, had to ask to place and order, but we weren't in the mood to leave and look up another place. After placing the order we've been ignored for another 30 minutes. That was the time we decided to tell the waiter we would leave and he seriously started an argument with us and explaining that the dishes we've choosen would take time, which the waiter has failed to inform us about upfront. We usually are easy going guests but couldn't hold ourselves from making a scene (which I have never done before) thus the chief of staff showed up with soothing words and apologies for the bad service and the waitor's outraging behaviour towards us. Long story: We got our most delightful dishes served, got drinks for free and left with quite mixed emotions. Not sure, if we give it a second try, though.

The food was so bad, the service is bad, and the food was not fresh ( we got our samosa hot outside and inside was freezing) as well as the food served very late not mentioning that the bill was wrongful they charged us for things we didn’t get

I think it was probably the most delicious Indian food I’ve ever had and also the prices were really good! The waiters were very friendly and the restaurant was beautifully decorated.

We ate here whilst in the area on business. Initially sitting outside, we moved inside after one course, at the suggestion of a staff member as it was becoming a little cold! There was a very wide selection of food which was much enjoyed. At times, though, the service was a little slow to the point that we asked for the bill and paid instead of asking for a dessert which we had wanted. Well worth a visit.

I had lunch at Indian Palace, and was glad their lunch prices are reduced (their dinner prices seemed quite extravagant). I just didn't expect the quality of the food to be reduced, too: The butter chicken was a bit bland and tasteless, and looked quite unappetising on the plate. Service was good, but card payments were not possible. Heard of the twenty-first century, Indian Palace?

At last a decent Indian meal in Germany! I wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. The service was excellent - friendly, attentive staff. The Tikka Masala was very tasty! The onion bhaji were actually just onion rings and the nan bread was also not what you would expect but all was very nice, even if different. Overall a most pleasant meal.
